Danny is a true master of his craft. I was having some issues with my fender jaguar, so i took it into Danny for a setup and some electronics work. Danny got this thing playing awesome and sounding better than ever after cleaning out some electronics. Highly recommend!

Danny is highly detailed, professional, and up front about pricing and timing. I brought a 90s Jackson in for some work and left with what felt like a new guitar. Would happily be a repeat customer if I had more guitars that needed fretwork.

I am a pro luthier with 20+ years experience (Google Victor Baker guitars). Danny does all the setup, fretwork and electronics on my guitars 30-40 per year. Hes a super pro and consistently hits the ball out of the park. Highly recommended

Danny is extremely professional, responsive, and gets work done in a timely fashion. I took in a custom-built guitar I bought at an estate sale for input jack repairs, restringing, and general maintenance and after repairs it came out playing infinitely many times better than the state I had bought it in. Great work + expertise + reasonable prices = Recommend

Ive been to three other reputable luthiers in SD, no knock on them, but Dannys work is a cut above.I learned that prior to setting up this shop, he was at Collings Guitar; if you dont know Collings, look them up.Danny will treat your instrument like its his own and wont cast judgements on your nit-picky requests (like relicing replacement bushings to match patina on tuners for instance, or staining your bone saddle to make it look unbleached). He did a superior job on both my heirloom Guild D25m and my Larrivee SD60 in dire need of fret work - frets are now shiny, smooth, perfectly tapered.Extremely meticulous, uses best quality tools and materials, priced fair, reliable turnaround times.Danny is your guy.

I have a high quality Martin D-35 that I have been bringing to Danny for maintenance/ yearly adjustments for two years. Last year I had frets replaced as well. The guitar is about 15 years old and plays pretty well but I think it is money well spent to give them a tune up once a year. Danny takes the time to listen to my concerns about the instrument, the type of music I play (such as any alternate tunings), and both times I have picked up the guitar after his repairs, it not only plays better (which I would expect) but it also plays better than it ever did. It seems as if he gets to know the guitar a little better each time and can really get it to sing. The harmonics and resonance coming out of this guitar now are really spectacular. And it is much easier to play. A great combination for sure! I would highly recommend his work on your instruments. He pays great attention to detail and does excellent work!

Danny is the real deal. He knows what he’s doing and is super trustworthy. So trustworthy, that for one of my guitars, he suggested I go straight to Taylor because the repair was covered under my warranty. I would have paid Danny to do it anyway, but his honesty saved me a couple hundred dollars. I will definitely be bringing my guitars in for work for as long as I’m in the SD area.

The bridge to my beloved guitar had lifted and it was imperative that I found someone trustworthy to repair it. Danny was recommended by the luthier who actually built my guitar and I now know why. Danny was the consummate professional and a pleasure to work with, keeping me updated every step of the way. I highly recommend him to anyone!

Got my J Bass set up for flatwounds and new pickups installed. Price was more than fair for the quality of work and the set up job was perfect. Danny was super friendly and my bass sounds exactly how I envisioned. Highly Recommended!

I handed over my 2010 MIM Stratocaster to Mr. West for a level, crown, and polish of the frets and because I did a horrendous DIY setup. We talked over email for a couple of days beforehand. He was very responsive and I could tell Mr. West knew what he was talking about. We set up an appointment for him to look over my Strat and do some pre-work inspections and measurements. I was already impressed by this and was looking forward to the finished product. I really appreciated Mr. West’s professionalism and could tell I left my guitar in the right hands. After a couple of weeks, Mr. West sent an emailed letting me know my guitar was ready. I showed up to the shop, he plugged it in, handed it to me, and I couldn’t believe it. It was like a new guitar. He went through the pre and post work measurements with me and explained everything he did to the guitar. I was once again thoroughly impressed with his professionalism and his craftsmanship.I’m so glad I went through Mr. West. This guitar plays like a dream. I look forward to having you work on my other guitars the next time I’m in San Diego. Thank you Danny!

Danny West has done a masterful job of setting up and repairing my mandolins and guitars. My old 1918 Gibson A4 had several issues. Danny worked his magic. Now it plays like butter with amazing tone.

Found Danny online looking for a setup when some of the other big shops told me it was gonna be a 2-3 week turnaround. I got a brand new Taylor guitar, and the action at the nut was pretty high, making barre chords at the first fret very difficult. I went and saw him and it was a quick turnaround and the results were nothing less than stellar, bad boy plays like butter now. If you are looking for some work on your guitar and are unsure dont hesitate, give Danny a call. The only thing that had me a touch uneasy was his shop location is inside a big building, industrial part of downtown. He told me to meet him by the Red Door and I couldnt go in with all the COVID stuff going on. If this sketches you out a bit, take it from me hes trustworthy and you have nothing to worry about, got my baby back in 5 days looking better than I dropped her off.

Danny is the only person I trust to work on any of my guitars at this point. His work is always amazing, and reliable. His prices are very fair considering the quality of work and attention to detail. I will forever recommend everyone take their instruments to Danny.

Amazing work! Danny found and reglued a loose brace on my Taylor GS Mini. He also did a setup to lower the action. The guitar plays better and is much more compatible with my play style because of Dannys work. I would recommend him for any and all of your stringed instrument repairs or customizations. Great work for a reasonable price and good turnaround time.

Danny was very communicative and helpful. The guitar I brought him was in rather sad shape but when I picked it up a few short days later he had it looking, playing and sounding great.
