This may not be the flashiest landmark we visited in San Francisco, but it was one of the most meaningful for me. The building is the one Harvey Milk had his home and shop in during the 70s and leading up to his assassination. The staff is fun and friendly, and they have a lot of things that arent available in their online store. My favorite purchase was a set of tote bags that Ive used pretty much every time I travel.

I proudly visited this wonderful institution that has created such a positive impact in our world and I must say, the legacy of Harvey Milk is being carried forward by a team of truly incredible people. The interior of the building has been transformed into hallowed hall dedicated to the fight for equal rights. I was honored to have visited and I believe anyone who wants to learn more about the incredible history of Harvey Milk owes it to themselves to visit this historically significant institution.

Interested in LGBTQ+ rights? Visit the small museum and gift shop of the HRC which is the former business and home of Harvey Milk, one of the renowned gay-rights activists. It is small, but well worth a visit if youre in the area.

Oh man I am so weak for this place. Every time I bring a tourist friend to the Castro I have them stop here. If youre going to get a t-shirt that says San Francisco, why not get a rainbow one that also donates all the proceeds to a wonderful charity? Or a beautiful baseball cap that says Make America Gay Again. Fabulous. Employees always friendly and I love the pronoun badges.

You honestly feel like a part of history standing inside, or even outside on Castro Street. Knowing it was Harvey Milks shop makes everything so much more spectacular. The merchandise is fantastic quality. The store itself and everything in it is beautiful. Ill never forget my experience here and its something I will hold close to my heart forever. Its incredible the work that the HRC does, and I thank you so deeply, for continuing the message that Harvey Milk tried so hard to spread.

I always stop in HRC to just walk around and see what new stuff they have. Since I am a teenager I rarely have enough money to buy their products, but when I do they last forever, so they arent a rip off! The money goes to a great cause that does so much work for the LGBT community so your money is going to a useful cause!

One of only a few retail locations, this store sells HRC branded items (including the coveted Love Conquers Hate tees in English, Russian, and Spanish, as well as memberships. Its a great spot to purchase gifts, as 100% of proceeds go back to funding HRC efforts. They also have a great sale rack with $10 tees. But more than selling merchandise, this site is historic. Its located in Harvey Milks former camera shop, and is below Supervisor Milks former apartment. There are videos and memorabilia dedicated to Harveys cause. The HRC runs events out of this location, and all Harvey Milk marches and commemorations start/end here. A historical must-visit site for locals and visitors alike.

HRC just endorsed Republican Mark Kirk over Democrat Tammy Duckworth for the Senate. Duckworth rates 100 on the HRC checklist and Kirk just 39. So why did they endorse one over the other? Well, you know the old story. Just follow the money. Yup, the money.Sad that an organization that fought so hard for LGBT rights and falls prey to the oldest betrayal in the book.
