I lived in the city for many years, and left five years ago. I was reminiscing tonight, curious if this store was still there, and I’m so glad that it is… The friendly service and warm welcome always added a much needed touch of humanity to the end of my workdays. I always stopped here as I got off the bus on Polk and collected my groceries to lug uphill. Thank you to the owners and staff, from the bottom of my heart. Your food was always fresh, delicious and very well priced. And most importantly, your customer service was top notch. You ARE San Francisco. The San Francisco I remember so well.

Enter on Polk. Slightly below ground. Although alot is packed into small store, the isles are not crowded and impassable like some places. Incredible selection and quality in produce for such a place. Might call the brand selection as health food style. But is really just offering quality stuff. Meat selection is never old or past due. Dairy and yogurt very diverse in selection. Lots of crackers and flatbreads of Euro origin. Always and very clean. I did not specifically check but I think all their stuff is Halal or Kosher. And quite a bit of flavors and unique varieties of pop, so no Coke no Pepsi or other commercial brands. (Which is good)

I recently found this Farmers Market, and I love their fresh produces! My children are loving the fruits and veggies we’ve gotten. When you shop here, you know you are buying fresh local in-season fruits and vegetables. Such a wonderful place to go and get seasonal produce, and homemade goodies. We will keep coming back!

This is how it works at a farmers market! Anything I want is readily available. The effort it took to get here was well worth it. I was fully delighted with all of their fruits and vegetables. Im certain Ill visit this farmers market again in the future. The apples are delicious, the grapes are lovely, and the region is immaculate.

If you like farmers markets, youll enjoy this one. Ive never seen a farmers market quite like this! Ive recently become a snowbird, and Ill be going to the market once a week from now until April. Ive got some fresh produce as well as some delicious honey. I liked how there were both healthy and delicious options.

Best little grocery shop in SF proper in my humble opinion. Its a little more spendy than TJs or GrossOut, but theyre nice people and reasonable for being in SF. Have excellent produce and all the basics plus artisan and ethnic stuff.

I was happy to see that this farmers market had everything I wanted in one place. To finish my factions fruits, I dont need to drive or fly to several places. It was brand new and tastefully decorated, just what I was looking for. Illegitimate children were brought into the world by their biological parents.

Awesome grocery that sells ingredients that stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s don’t usually stock, especially if you cook a lot of Asian food. It’s one of the few places in the city where I can find oyster sauce one one aisle and Arborio rice on the other.The fresh produce selection is also quite unbeatable for a small grocery.

Great selection of produce. Tons of snacks and drinks and stuffs from Asia as well as Latin America. Also has a meats and frozen food section. I come here instead of Trader Joes now.

Excellent quality products. Not a corner quick shop at all. They have high-quality, healthy products. They even have a butcher counter, which I visit every time Im there. Its very nice to be able to request select cuts, made to order. The variety of produce is incredible for such a small location. The prices are very reasonable. I stop here every few days to do all of my grocery shopping. Ill never go to Safeway again. Even with Trader Joes opening a block away, and Whole Foods two blocks away, Ill still come here. The staff is also incredibly nice!

Love the fresh veggies and they have a variety of foods everything ripe avocados, sweet oranges, ethic food Chinese to India . The freezer selection has decadent ice cream, frozen veggies and ready to eat dinners !!!! And dont forget the staples ...all of the items are the popular companies

You can find the most random things here and pretty much all the vegetables you can think of. Whenever you have a recipe (Asian, Latin, Mediterranean, etc) and you cant find an ingredient, give this place a try!

Affordable, fresh produce. Id like them to have more organic options but a great little spot to stop in for quick needs. I buy only certain things here (produce, eggs) because a lot of the packaged foods or other items are higher priced than other stores. Great for produce and fresh items but not all groceries. You find goos stuff some good stuff like ginger is better than other places or stuff you dont fine at traders joes dont carry items easy to shop

Great vegetables, fruits and everything you need. Between the other store a few doors down and this store you can pick up already prepared food or cook yourself. Great selection of wines and beer. Lovely family owners that work sooooo hard. Super friendly! Been going there for over 17 years.

Great little produce store

We are really lucky to have this store in our neighborhood! Well-stocked enough to use it for main shopping some weeks. Very handy to have it close by for supplemental shopping. Quick check-out even when it is busy. Thank-you Golden Veggie for your selection of organic items!

Great produce. Usually very fresh and slot of it. They also have steaks, chicken and other meats and frozen fish etc. Teas ice cream and a pretty big assortment of goods to choose from only Con: they keep the place too cold to have a comfortable shopping experience. So dress for the snow and try it out

I walk a long way in order to do my grocery shopping here. The main reason is for the low prices: they charge half as much as the small grocery/liquor stores near me. Ive always been very happy with the freshness, quality, and selection of fruits and vegetables. They also have an excellent meat department. Note that they have fewer packaged and canned good than other grocery stores, and they have no prepared ready-to-eat food. So, its a great place to buy ingredients to cook your own meals: healthy and affordable.

One of those great family run groceries, that you dont see many of these days. A constantly fresh selection of both vegetable and bulk goods, they also have some Asian speciality ingredients, as I often see cooks from the neighborhood here. Love the staff!

My go to grocery!

A great neighborhood market offering value and friendly service - something not easy to find in this part of the city. With produce prices at less than half of that charged by Safeway for quality that is equal or better, Golden Veggie Market on Polk by California streets is an amazing value. Even their dairy and cheese prices are low. One of their many nice touches is their reusable and soft but strong cloth bags that they offer at ten cents per - a far superior alternative to the paper or plastic choice offered everywhere else. For a neighborhood market, I highly recommend it.

I love these guys, everyone that works here is so friendly. Its a local market that primarily serves neighborhood residents. Very large produce selection and popular for its meat prices. However, Its been a struggle for them ever since Trader Joes moved in just two blocks away. I always try to pop in at least once a week to help support them.

I love this place! They have a large produce selection, the prices are great, and the people who work there are super sweet. It doesnt have everything I need when I go shopping, but its pretty close and what they have is excellent.

One of the few local places that carry fresh meat and seafood plus major brands. They also carry wines and beers. Prices are good.

Changing my star rating to two, recently sold and now called Golden Farmers Market they brought in cheap produce with overly marked up prices. Have the stuff I would go here for is no longer on the shelves. Less organic, its now basically a oversized corner store with a fruit stand. A real shame.

Buy your avocados and limes here. They have the best guacamole. Dont forget your fruits and vegetables, and a salmon steak.

Great selection (at least for me). They carried ample quantities of everything I need on a weekly basis. I havent found many grocery stores in the area that also have a butcher (seafood/poultry/pork/beef). Staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was spotless and there wasnt a large crowd of people, unlike the Whole Foods nearby.

They have a nice selection of meat and produce. You can ask them to cut a chicken in half with no problem.

I just moved to sf and this nob hill neighborhood, and OMG this place is a hidden gem!!!! every time I pass by it, there are so many people shop there. It’s definitely a local favorite!!! They have surprisingly a lot of fun stuff that I thought I can only find in Chinatown or Japan town or any big asian market. For example, fish stock powder, a stable in all kinds of Japanese cuisine, like udon noodle or some other stew. I couldn’t even find them in Japan town! Btw the best soy sauce I have ever bought is from here too. Also the price of most of the stuff is so reasonable. It’s not a corner store that will ripe you off. Veggie and fruit section are more of a hit or miss, could be super cheap sometimes, I once found some fresh strawberries are only 0.99 per box!!!!! I never seen such a price. And they tastes great. Meat section is the best of all, really small but price is so nice. I am really picky in general so if I like this place, I feel like most people will too lol. Now my grocery routine is this place then Trader Joe’s lol.

Hidden local market gem with great selections (fresh fruits/veggies and pasta!) and no lines. I cant believe Ive been going to the crowded whole foods and traders joes instead of this place. Prices are comparable or cheaper as well.

Wow! I just discovered this place on a walk to buy lunch today. I was looking for a health food store and I found just what I was hoping for. The store is organized, well stocked and cheery, and features attractive displays, and the staff are inviting and friendly. Ill be back, for sure!

Great and fast service. You can buy bulk grains and beans from here. They also have an assortment of food goods from different countries.

I made my way out with a couple bags of groceries for like $26. Not next door to my apartment, but walkable, so Ill definitely be back for regular groceries (though Ill still need to supplement with a few things from a larger store).
