Well managed small store with lot of stuff. Its like a mini whole earth store with interesting selection of products. Prices are reasonable, and staffs are very friendly. They even have jars of sauces from Peru, not that I recommended those. The store has good vibe that you can feel the care and love from people work there.
I love this little store that stocks so many healthy and specialty products that I can easily pick up without my having to drive across town, as I live nearby. I never expected to find so many interesting items here, and the staff couldnt be friendlier and so helpful! 👍
This place is a jewel of sunset. It looks so small but it has choice that will startle you, puzzle you and think how is it possible to be able to have so much cool, local, unique, artisan, unbelievable stuff in one place!
The shop itself is very charming; the produce is excellent. The parklet is adorable. And if youre vegan, they got you covered. Stocked items and store design deserve 5 stars. Customer service and human affability is abysmal and deserves negative black hole stars. So Ive averaged that out ever so scientifically to 2 stars. I am done eating their awful attitude. So many of the staff have been just terrible to me with no provocation whatsoever unless you call Hi provocative. Why cant the people who work there just be decent? Or how about civil? No need to aim for friendly if thats not your bag. Dont gotta be best buds; just do your job without being mean. In my four year struggle to love this place, Ive been met with disdain, rudeness, eye rolls, sighs, and just awfulness. Oh, and lady who took the groceries Id put down for a minute because my arm was killing me and wouldnt give them back so I could buy them, I remember you. You know who you are. Its too bad. Noriega Produce for me! NP is twice as far to walk for me, which is not bad at all and totally worth it.
My favorite neighborhood grocery store. Love to support somewhere owned by employees. Yes, it is pricey, but they sell good stuff. Great for (spendy) delicious groceries or for picking up treats on your way to a beach picnic. Small but solid selection of bulk items, local crafts and cuisines, to-go meals, baked goods, and more. Insider tip: on some evenings they have the BEST huge bags of produce for $5. Employees and shoppers are the best kind of people. Love my co-op.
Cute and small version of Rainbow. We were delighted when we went there and will definitely be going back. Some bulk, lots of supplements, some ready to eat meals and a small produce section along with most other things are available here.
If a butcher was located next door to Other Avenues, we may never need to visit a traditional supermarket again. They have everything one needs, sans meat products. Nice folks work there too. Beer selection is unreal. I probably annoy fellow customers when I examine the selection for too long. Interesting wine selection as well. Get your red card for discounts.
Great variety of natural, organic, and local foods and sundries. They have a good selection with reasonable prices. The staff there are knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. Excellent customer service! (Remember when that wasn’t as hard to find as a unicorn!)
For a small coop they sure have every need covered. And the staff is very helpful. Bulk items are priced so low you can really stock up your pantry.
A bit pricey but overall a good option for those of us too far from Rainbow grocery.
Living close by Other Avenues is fortunate. The workers have an ownership stake, and is a model for small grocery stores to co-op. The selection is good, fresh produce and fresh bread from a local baker. Very predictable over the 10 years I have been shopping there. I’m happy to support them even if the prices are a bit higher than the large chain stores.
For implants only, youll be followed around and treated like your stealing.
Excellent grocery shop with an assortment of eclectic finds, especially when it comes to vegan, glutenfree, etc.The prices are reasonable considering and many times quite less than Whole Foods Market.Incredibly helpful staff and nice overall vibe; they also have an option to become a member for extra savings, for more frequent shoppers.Define recommend.
Terrific customer service. Excellent quality produce.
Good selection of high quality foods, though finding chocolate chip cookies with wheat and butter is a challenge!
Great place to shop.
Lots of variables! Cute store!
Always super friendly staff and they have just about everything I could ever want and more! (earthy clothes, personal care, bulk goods, produce, fresh baked goods, tons of yummy chocolate options, etc.) So lovely to have this cute little grocery store all the way out by the beach, I dont know what I would do without it. Even if you dont live near Other Avenues it is a must visit. Forever love this place :)
Absolutely adorable little co-op. If youre a fan of co-ops this is a must see!
Not crowded. Enough cashiers for a sunny Sunday.
Great neighborhood natural food organic vegetarian vegan store. Feel lucky to have it near me.
This store is dope! Highly recommend it. A place with integrity.
Best vegan jerky selection in San Francisco.
Dope grocery store with lots of beer and a helpful amd friendly staff
Such an awesome place, great staff, great-unique selection of food (vegan jerky!!), and great beer. Love this spot.
If you love Rainbow, think of pouring water on it and running it through the dryer on extra hot: Youll end up with the much smaller but similarly stocked health food collective/cooperative.You wont find all the alternatives you find at Rainbow, but you will likely find everything you need (come on, is your favorite brand of cereal REALLY that much better than another similar brand?).Produce is fresh. Bulk goods are plentiful.Be prepared to squeeze around folks as you shop, especially if you are there at a busy time, but its worth the squeeze.Amazing jewel in the Outer Sunset.
Awsome local store! I love that everything is organic and I can shop with a peace of mind.
Best store w food I like. Local
I love this place ... The best produce and staff.
In town visiting and we came here daily for apples, bananas, plums and snacks for our daily adventures. The bulk section was amazing for snacks for the day or a little dessert at night. Gluten free vegan pumpkin muffin was AMAZING. Wished we were here longer to try their bulk teas and more bakery items! Wonderful selection of foods and drinks!
Just the best. These guys have every bulk item you can think of — even items like baking powder! The staff is kind and always willing to help find (or order!) food items. The produce is extremely high quality and they’ve even started working with a local farm in San Francisco to package microgreens that last for DAYS. Finally, their worst kept secret is the dried mango — it’s insane. ❤️
We were in town for a few nights and were grateful that Other Avenues was so close by. Their values and mission around food are awesome and really resonated with us. We bought items from the bulk section numerous times, as well as some delicious gluten free baked goods and fruit. Really great options and very friendly staff.
Filled with beauty and organic-ness, in every way, every day. Before 9pm, of course.
Great neighborhood co-op grocery store with amazing fruits and vegetables.
Words cannot describe how amazing this store isIts like having a farmers market open two blocks away from me everydayThey have the freshest organic produce and very reasonable prices plus its a worker-owned cooperative so everybody who works there is getting a cut of the profits which is the way it should be - theyre the ones doing the workThey have a bulk section with just about anything you would ever needThey have an herb selection that is mind-blowingAnd they have more tea in the bulk section then anywhere Ive seen in townThey also have these vegan donuts that are to die forThe vegan maple bacon is something dreams are made of and I dont even like regular maple bacon donuts that muchThey support good companies that have Fair trade practices and they sell local crafts mittens and socks books and other wares made by local peopleI love other avenues so muchAnd if theres ever more than two people in line they open up another registerHats off to you other avenues for keeping it real
Near and dear to my heart, they have a pretty good beer selection and a surprising wine selection. Otherwise, it’s kind of crunchy granola for rich techy yuppies with too much money and not enough personality. They’ve got some neat trinkets and choice organic, all-natural, cruelty free yada-yada...
Definitely had a rude cashier today. Really no reason for the behavior. Always come here usually everyone is friendly and cool. Really shouldnt be doing that job if you have zero customer service and a poor attitude. Go home.
Wow, this is a great little grocery store. The produce is top notch. They have nearly everything you need. If you are staying locally and walking, 7-11 down the street can supplement your needs for common items. Otherwise, Other Avenues is the place to go if you are making a salad or looking for delicious, healthy fruit.
I get a lot of my health food products and supplements here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I feel only a few people in there really know what theyre talking about and the rest are just new it seems..ha.. everything is great quality and I always find something here that makes me feel better in the long run..
5 stars for the awesomeness of this co-op for staying in business so many years. For a store their size they keep a good selection of groceries. I appreciate being able to get foods that meet my dietary restrictions thats in my neighborhood and committed to worker owners.
Really nice grocery store with little fancy cool things and all essentials. Stuff is extremely friendly and being there made me feel really good :-) wish I had this place in my neighborhood! Definitely a little hidden gem 🏡
Other Avenues has inspired me to enjoy a much healthier diet. Their thoughtfully selected produce and cheeses have helped me find just the right balance of veggies and healthy fats. This co-op is a really special place.
I have a soft spot in my heart for co-op grocery stores. I like the model and dig the hippie vibe. But mostly I like places where food sourcing is placed high on the list of determining what is being sold. Hands-down my favorite aspect of Other Avenues is the bulk foods selection. All of your nuts, flours, granolas, and snacks and you can buy however much youd like. This isnt Rainbow Grocery in terms of breadth, but it is more than you can want for a local grocery trip. They have a great beauty selection for natural products as well in terms of non-edibles.The staff is friendly, but vary a bit in terms of customer service. If youre out in the avenues go and check it out--in some sense they have cornered the market out here for organic and natural groceries. The prices remain reasonable despite their location monopoly.
Little bit of everything. Helpful and knowledgeable staff
I travel all the way across the park just to shop here because its really that good. I I love their business model and their people.
Great local grocery store with super friendly staff. The produce is all organic and I got the most delicious hard-to-find organic corn here the other day. Parking is all metered on the street. This is a great spot for inexpensive groceries in the city.
This is a hidden little gem in the heart of San Francisco. They have all the essentials. Milk, eggs, fruits, bread. Everything is organic and the staff owns part of the store so everyone is super cool. They dont have a huge selection but its good in a pinch.
Id never been here before this visit. I did a search for co-ops near me and this was one, offerred. Curious, I popped in. Yum, they had fresh vegan donuts and other vegan offerings. They may consider having a salad bar or some kind of on-site vegan deli offerrings like what The Butchers Son in Berkeley offers. Cute little store. It reminded me a bit of the older Good Earth Store in Fairfax, CA. Cozy.
Small coop health food store (worker owned). The only one in its neighborhood, making locals grateful to find organic food whiteout driving miles.Good choice of local fresh fruits and veg and amazingly large selection of teas and spices.Check the nearby vegan café Judahlicious, just a few doors up the street.
The people there were very helpful in finding the products I needed. Great variety of selections on tons of products from incense, candles, lotions and potions.
This little market is adorable with its produce and bulk options. Solid choice if youre in the neighborhood.
Great History, people and so very convenient!
Great place to shop! Very friendly staff, lots of good wholesome food, mostly organic, many bulk items, high quality, local produce! T-Th 10% senior discount, also discount card available. A block and a half from the 43rd Avenue N Judah stop, 2 blocks from the 18 46th Avenue stop at Judah. Great variety and value, fair trade coffee, chocolate. Gift items, kids toys, microbrewery beers, excellent affordable wines, milk in glass bottles, cage free organic eggs, frozen foods, canned foods, juices, supplements, soap, toothpaste, sox, crackers, cookies, chips, bread, bulk tea and herbs/spices--tremendous selection, all organic! Everything you need for a first class vegetarian diet! Bring your own bags and containers and save money! Best place to shop west of Twin Peaks!
Great produce, no wait to get in @ 10am Monday
Super friendly staff. Thoughtful product offerings
We have been shopping here for over 30 years. It gets better all of time.
Probably the best place to shop organic local food. Everything here is amazing and the people here are happy to help.
Helpful and courteous and organized. Just like a grocery store should be.
Most wonderful selection of organic products and produce, one of the favorites. Also like their Nana Joes oatmeal in bulk, though a bit pricey
Great little coop with a nice bulk section, plenty of vegan options, and very fresh produce.
So much good healthy stuff! Every time I do salad bar night I come here for awesome produce and fixens.
This place is ridiculously overpriced, the employees are rude, and they refused to service this older gentleman I saw shopping in there for no reason, even though Ive seen him shopping there before (that nice old guy has lived in the sunset for 30 years!). This place is just downright horrible and they are a disgrace to co-ops everywhere.
Our House Coop has been shopping there for years great selection and very personable and helpful staff
Small but well stocked coop. Good selection of bulk items and specialty cheeses.
Cheese monger laylah, versus i dont eat cheese ... and the constant problems of the idiots who live in fear, and then there is the hang up. so for all the I love the service, self-delusion is alive and well.
Great Neighborhood store with good and plenty groceries organic kind of place.
Lovely little co-op with good selection of essentials.
Old school vibe, great selection.
I have been in this store only few times and I love how they work and what the sale.
Its surving neighborhood health market with so many goodies out in the nowhere land.
No more bulk prices- more reason to shop there
Pricey but excellent quality groceries and amazing staff.
Love the view of the ocean early in the morning.
Fantastic goods and produce, socially and environmentally responsible place to shop, good staff, good music
Amazing fresh organic and fairtrade foods - and caring staff
I love this place, health nutty goodness!
Snooty staff, ok pricey options. No bikes, allowed in store! What kind of hippies are they?
Coop...helpful And friendly staff...also sell ecological friendly cleaners, vitamins and supplements, cute pins...can buy aloe fonds....plentiful herb and spices in old timey acpothecary jars...try the muhara (spelling?)walnut spread..love this place
A bit pricier than rainbow, and with a smaller selection....but easier to get to if you live out by the beach.
Awesome and friendly!
Lots of vegan and vegetarian options and cashiers are nice.
Thank you thank you for keeping me healthy! I love your baby avocados.
Great selection, fresh produce, friendly staff
Great little healthfood store.
Good clean market... No meat, staff is friendly and helpful
Great neighborhood shop. Friendly staff with lots of natural products
Great shop for micro brews and other locally made products.
Solar powered, worker owned cooperative. Im into it.
Nice store but no meat and very pricey
An oasis in a food desert. Thank god for this place. Vegan options galore.
Great stuff! Wish it were a little cheaper...
Quality produce. Excellent customer service.
Great produce. Friendly staff.
Small but spacious, really nice vibe
For a local organic, natural food store this is it
A treasure of the Sunset, this is a worker owned cooperative. The staff and goods are like a mini Rainbow Grocery.
Good but pricey
Good neighborhood, organic grocery
