Love this place. All the Indian spices you could ask for. The henna selection was outstanding and the customer service was so amazing. Im going back for sure.
Small Indian grocery with the essentials. Variety is limited, but decent. Very friendly cashier (perhaps owner), practicing excellent COVID protocols.
Mr. Nathin has a gem of a store. I was amazed by the quality, variety, and excellent prices. New India Bazar literally has everything you could dream of. The store is impeccable and has a wonderful vibe. I could spend hours just pouring over the sheer variety. Mr. Nathins store is very special and I will be back soon. I am so happy to have discovered New India Bazar...I will be back for gulab jamun!
High quality ingredients and this place has everything! Best Indian groceries and also snacks. They also sell really delicious locally made rotis and gulab jamun which are my favorite!
Small space with lots of great products and friendly service. You can see many products online and pre-order for pick up. They also offer delivery to dinner locations. Great spot for fresh curry leaves!
Best thing, Mr. Nathin and his team best store each n every things for indian foods from salt to ready to cook foods available here, some veggies and many types of biscuits high quality is there, outclass oils for hair, breakfast ready to cook easily, chapati, parathas, tandoori nan n garlic nan, dry fruits, papds, meggi noddles, some instant healing things like zandu bam, tiger bam etc, kurkuray, lassi yoghurt, and good sweets like jalebi, rasmalai, mix sweets are there, prices are slightly higher then others but quality of food is great. For saving time it is not a big deal because other stores if you wanna go it’s takes half n hours .New pic of today’s 03/27/19At 05/08/19 I purchased 3 minutes breakfast for try ( khatta metha poha ) and it is best and Nathan bhai always introduces new things which has powerful taste ! Thanks new India bazar.Today 08/15/2019 I go to New India bazar n saw they have sale on tetly tea with three flavors Elaichi,Masala, Ginger, please check prices are very very good, thanks Mr.Nathan for giving us good thing in low cost.
Very expensive. Salama on Geary, a few blocks away has better prices. Neelam in San Bruno has better prices and a wider selection.
The owner is very helpful and generous. Its a nice store with good products and everything is up to date.
Very clean and well equipped! Owners are very friendly
Great, little, well-stocked store. The owner is friendly and helpful. The store itself nicely breaks up the monotony of the liquor store, bar, restaurant atmosphere in that neighborhood. Always love coming by. CHARMING!!!!!!!
I would have liked to see more veggies in the store
Great to have an Indian store in the city. The inventory is very up to date on their website, they also offer delivery and the people running the store are very nice :)
Love these guys. Any thing india they can source it. Nitan and his family have been providing this as a service to the community for decades. Love them to bits. They have a great reputation and attitude to people. Love their family. Please support by shopping there
I have been trying to find out the price difference between this store and the one on Geary street - Salama Bazar - the two stores are 3 blocks apart in terms of distance however they have a mammoth price difference. Examples: I got Lauki from New India bazaar the other day and it was terribly high priced. The Haldirams pani puri kit which is a green box is $7.99 plus taxes in here while at Salama it is $5.99 plus taxes. One more item - Dass Jalebi - here it’s $5.99 while at Salama it’s $3.99..How can the prices be so different across 2 stores which are just blocks apart? Lol - this is beyond my understanding. The owner responds to a comment below from someone that he puts in lot of love in everything in the store. Yes am sure he does - a lot of love and effort in marking up the prices to an unreasonable level lol. Also Salama is much more spacious store with much larger variety of products are available. There is a limit to ripping of people. AVOID THIS STORE TILL THE TIME THEY MAKE THE PRICES MORE REASONABLE, just a rip off for people who visit this store. I read the below reviews and I saw people commenting in general about higher prices. I have pointed out particular products where significant price differences exist. Can the owner please respond why such price differences? He should respond to this critical comment since he goes above and beyond in responding to customer comments which are positive. And a request to all customers giving 5 star ratings - before assigning a 5 star rating have you checked other similar stores nearby, have you interacted with the owner of the other store, have you compared prices across different stores? Please do so before assigning a rating. Mr owner - can you respond to my questions regarding comparative prices? Or would you just respond to questions who praise you.? Am yet to get a response to my questions from the owner. And I see people writing - it’s fun shopping at the store, super nice owner, array of stuff available - my only response is you have not come across a genuinely nice Indian and that is why you find this guy in the store who duped you as genuine. And cheers to all such people who find paying unreasonable higher price as a ‘fun filled’ event 😂Mr owner - I see you responding to all good reviews below. Just answer in YES or NO that price differences which I have pointed out exist or not? Also many people are saying “service to the community”. How does service to community apply here? It’s plain business. In 1990s there were no Indian grocery stores here. The owner saw an opportunity and started this trading business. Procure goods at a price and sell it at a higher price. Where is this concept of service to community here? It’s plain and simple business - selling goods procured from somewhere else at a profit. Let’s keep it to that and NOT term it as community service.
Cheater!!! First and last visit to this shop. Be careful if you buy something from here. Please check any other shop you will find big difference in price.
Great source for spices.
It is a cool store. They have less space, but they still carry most of the items that are usually needed from Indian store.
Great variety and friendly staff
I usually buy my groceries here on regular basis and I have no complaints on them. But I found their snacks and sweets always stale and not tasting and smelling good. I have raised it with owner couple of times, today got some sweets and they were stale completely. Eating a bit has made us throw up and the rating is a reflection of the same. I got the assorted sweets post checking and confirming with owner that it is fresh.
Good selection of groceries in the area. The staff have always been courteous and very personable. Ive shopped here often as I live in the area. I sometimes drift to Salama Bazzar a few blocks away but this store can definitely boast of a larger inventory than Salama. The prices are what you would expect for a San Francisco niche grocery store.
Im definitely not an Indian food expert. This is the second time I have any, but this food was very delicious! So flavorful and the service is great. Would definitely come again
We stopped by on accident. We didnt expect it to be great but end up having wonderful experience. We were not vegetarian at all. We were actually those people who couldnt survive without meat, but this place is the best vegetarian food I have ever had. Unique experience. The ladies brought food to us as soon as we sat down and showered us with so much different food. Price was a little high, cant afford to come very often but service were wonderful. Good food overall.
Tiny Indian spice shop. Of course there are larger ones, but this one has everything you might need for a popular Indian dish. We come here a lot because we like to make Indian dishes with our Instant Pot. They have all the vegetables and refrigerated things we would need (curry leaves specifically), but there are a lot of spices they dont carry just because of the lack of space. Other than that, if you have the appropriate expectations, this spice shop perfectly suffices. Very nice store owners and workers, make sure you spend more than $10 if you use a credit card.
We are regular customers here and usually have no complaints but this is the second time this is happening that Okra was not tender at all and couldn’t use even one of them. Now that we don’t have the luxury of going inside the store and pick ourselves, we expect to get good quality for such high price stuff.
Pretty much one of the two options in the city. I would say the items prices are marked up higher than the Indian stores in the south bay (Sunnyvale/San Jose). There is decent selection of items available so its the best option if you live in the city.
This is a great market for those of us who live or work downtown. Their prices are reasonable, they have a great variety of staples as well as gourmet items, and they even have a hot food bar, deli, butcher, and salad bar. They really pack a lot of goodness in a small space.
Prices are too high, delivery service is bad & Owner is rude. My friend recommended this Store but owner doesnt know how to deal with clients. He is always in hurry while delivery, never deliver to door step. When it comes to regular customers he should know how to treat them.
Great selection of spices & other ingredients you’ll need to make fantastic Indian / Pakistani food. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. A great find!
This little Indian grocery store is more than it seems. It may seem small but it has an incredible variety of all things Indian/South Asian from spices, drinks, snacks, oils, dried goods, frozen items, mixed spice packets, frozen meals, music, beauty products including henna, artisan pieces and fresh produce, etc. You may not be able to find all the items on your own but just ask and a friendly staff person will help you. They are always ready to lend a helping hand and a lovely little chat. Highly recommended for a local Indian grocery shop. Tbus small family run business is a gem!
Clerk or the owner is beyond rude. This guy needs help.
Rough customer behavior and prices are on the higher side.
Small Indian grocery store where all Indian necessities are available. Spice selection is extensive. I love buying spices even though I dont use them very often. This stores spice range gave me goose bumps.
Good customer service and fun selection
It took me far too long to check this place out. After living in the city for almost two years I recently discovered it. They have a great selection of ingredients and desi foods which I have not found elsewhere in the city. The prices are very good as well and the employees are very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be returning here.
Extremely rude and condescending staff. No sense of talking or clarifying. Zero for customer service.
Has everything! and now takes covid very seriously with online orders and doorway shopping (no customers inside, so they bring everything to you to approve)
One of the few stores in San Francisco specializing in Indian videos and music, spices, frozen dinners, packaged easy to prepare dinners, tea, apothecary, as well as incense. Has been there for 35 or 40 years per the owners comments. It has the expected, delightful fragrance of such a store, is compact, old-fashioned, and well-stocked. The religious articles in the window, statues of Shiva, Laxmi and Ganesh, are an invitation to this other world, apart from the city, sublime yet earthy.
Such a friendly family owned store! First time I try to cook indian food at home and the owner was sooo helpful, I will definetly come back here again! Thank you!
This supermarket is mediocre. Has the necessities but not much else. Its a small space in the city so I understand its hard to stock everything, I just dont agree with everything they did decide to stock. Baked goods are kind of a joke here, nothing too impressive that I tried and little selection. Employees werent that much help either. May want to try somewhere else...
Tiny but mighty!! I have no idea how they pack it all in here, but every time I go, Im astounded by the selection they have of honest-to-goodness real Indian food and ingredients. I dont think it really compares to a proper grocery in India, but if you need to stock your pantry with the essentials+ of an Indian kitchen, you will most likely be able to to do most, if not all, of it here. Really friendly shopkeeper/owner and very willing to answer questions about anything. And dont get me started on the snacks. Dayum. Once you have any type of Indian chip/sev/crisp, you will never go back to our American bags of air and disappointment. And youll never have to, as long as New Indias around. 😁
I dont order from here any more because the owner makes passive-aggressive comments on the phone and when he delivers to your doorstep. Every time I call in, I hope I get his wife, but most of the time, the final delivery order is referred to him. The repeated reviews of rude behavior are not surprising.
Good Indian food variety. Gopi Indian curd was a little more expensive than a store in San Jose. More important is that it was available and fresh.
A small store for quick shopping at a convenient location. Would have preferred more variety.
Lovely and helpful staff
Staff is so friendly. Small store, you will get all basic things available but not too many options.
Fascinating little hole in the wall with a fairly impressive selection of authentic foods, herbs, and oils imported from India (on the cheap!) for its modest size.
Expensive Indian store in San Francisco .Every Items price is higher.
Store has a nice selection of drinks and food as well as friendly service. Would drop by again for a quick snack.
Good food! Try it you might enjoy it.
Very nice Indian store. Great customer service. Love it!
Super helpful and kind. Had a good register chat on the way out
Small storePrice are really high and owner is rude and not enough vegetables compare to other store in SF..S-b grocery have so many variety and nice customer service..
New India Bazaar is a hidden gem in the Polk Gulch offering Indian foods and groceries you wont find anywhere else at a great and affordable price. Hari at the front is super friendly and helpful, too!
Having spent months in India over the past few years I felt transported back immediately upon entering. Lots of authentic brands and goods and a very friendly family owned business!
Almost all Indian groceries and spices (Masalas) available here.
Super super super expensive!!! Everything is costing 50% more in this store. Better buy from other Indian stores a couple of blocks away!! I will never buy here again.
Friendly amazing staff, thank you!
Terrific range and easily accessible location. Can always have a friendly chat with the owner and other customers. Feels like a little piece of india.
All things Indian at this place. Exhaustive inventory. I thought it is bit overpriced, of course due to its location!
Bad customer service. The guy Nitin was super rude over the phone and he doesn’t know how to deal with regular client.
Petite.Very helpful store manager.Good collection of Indian Food.
Too much expensive. Guy sitting there is rude.. and unhelpful
A very small Indian grocery store. Prices are on the higher side as compared to Jai ho and Salma Indian groceries.
Nice little Indian convenient store in the city.
The charge high and dont take card with bad customer service....
Great place, great food, great people
Store stocks Indian spices that are hard to source at general stores. Spices are reasonably priced in comparison to larger retailers.
The prices in the store are high compared to the other stores or regular prices in SF.
Good place for desi (Indian and Pakistani) grocery.
Good Indian grocery store. Friendly staff and wide variety of Indian spices and sweets.
Good store and most of the Indian groceries item avaliable..
Jai shri krishna love new india bazaar
It’s very good Indian stores and caters to almost all the needs of Indian
Got everything we needed ! Good store.
Expensive but then there are only 2 Indian grocery stores in SF. They had literally everything I wanted. They even deliver home if you place order for $50 or more.
One of the Expensive Indian store in city!!
Decent enough to get basic Indian stuff.
Friendly storekeeper
Good customer service and fresh organic food
Stuff in here is expensive compared to other stores in SF. Not friendly.
The one wearing glasses tried to charge $1 extra for $6 purchase on credit card since I didnt have any cash on me. This is ridiculous. If its minimum $10 ad I dont have cash, charge 25cents, where does this rule come from that u charge $1 extra charge for just $6???
Great source for Indian ingredients that are unusual or hard to find to find in conventional stores. Reminds me of cramped NYC corner stores.
Place to buy authentic indian foods and spices.
Great customer service. Found everything I was looking for
Friendly and helpful.
No vegetables, meat or fish are available. However, they do have spices and snacks.
A good place for Indian groceries
Very Expensive compare to other stores. Rude bahaviour
All you need for Dashain!
Great service
Just love their variety.
Good store for Indian veggies.
The person at the counter was extremely rude and unhelpful! Wouldn’t go again.
Found all the things I was looking.
If youre looking Indian products, go here. They have it all
An Indian food shop away from India.
Was closed even though their hours said they should have been.
Outdated and expired stuff. Don’t listen to the owners recommendations for anything. Terrible service.
The dingo ate my baby
