I needed a new microwave and chose to go to Western because of word-of-mouth recommendations. I was greeted promptly by Shawn and was able to browse options. I had an idea of the size and features I was looking for, and was able to discuss pros and cons of various brands/models. They had a nice selection for various budgets, but a few werent on display. Shawn showed me other options on the computer and I was able to pick out what I wanted. The ordering process was quick, easy, and informative. Everyone was friendly, and I was approached by one of the managers on my way out, who thanked me for my business. I didnt get a chance to check out the other appliances, but the showroom was laid out nicely with many options to choose from.
I can highly recommend Western Appliance on West San Carlos Street in San Jose and Shawn Montarbo, their Contract Sales Manager to provides excellent customer service. They really care about their customers, and their turn-around time for their orders is fantastic. Shawn provided the best discounts over 4 other appliance companies that I contacted. He is truly exceptional!

Needed a new refrigerator ASAP as our 10 yr old was dying again. Did my research to find the replacement and Western had competitive prices with delivery in less than a week. All other stores had longer lead times. Placed the order over the phone and delivery occurred a day earlier than quoted. Delivery guys were great and work hard to get the new one in with a tight fit Great overall experience
We had a very positive experience and bought a new refrigerator. The item was in stock in their warehouse and they delivered it the next day. Always know your pricing. We told them about a better price and they immediately beat it by $50. Professional delivery crew brought it to us and hooked it up.

Lots of appliance choices here. The store has looked run down for at least the last 20 years. I know because thats how long Ive been going here. But prices are good.

Very good experience. They gave me the best price for 3 appliances. They accepted Lowes 10% moving coupon, at a even lower price. Moreover, much faster delivery. I got a induction range and a dishwasher the next day!

Our 15+ years-old refrigerator took its retirement and we were left with a picnic cooler box with two bags of ice cubes that needed replacing every day. A quick check on the net brought me to Western Appliance in San Jose.website. I did my shopping on the computer, visited the store with the details of my selection, which unfortunately was not immediately available and there was a lead-time of 7-10 days for delivery. An order was placed and my local 7-11 store had extraordinary sales in bags of ice cubes over what turned-out to be an extended period of time, due to a supply problem that was beyond the control of the staff at San Jose.For us at home, the inconvenience of the cooler box was exacerbated by the fact that the primary customer has physical limitations.When our wait-time reached 21 days we appealed for a special effort from management to somehow give us relief from our situation and were graciously offered a Loaner until our ordered appliance could be delivered and installed in our kitchen. This arrangement was agreed on a Saturday evening, the loaner was delivered on Monday morning.Our new refrigerator was delivered 5 days later and the relief of Mafeking was completed - again. ( Requires a knowledge of the 2nd Boer war, 1899-1900. We were spared the 217 days, but they didnt have to deal with bags of ice cubes).Western Appliance management and staff did not have to take the action that they offered and implemented in such timely fashion.To anyone who requires kitchen equipment, we would recommend Western Appliance, San Jose. Their inventory is impressive and they still believe in Customer Service, which is hard to find in our much vaunted 21st. century.
Amazing! Went in looking for a specific brand of washer at 4:30 PM on a Monday afternoon. Had the washer installed by 9:00 AM Tuesday! Sales person knew his stuff - gave comparison to various models, was super helpful with all the fees and scheduling delivery and removal of the old washer. This is our 3rd purchase of household appliances at Western! Will return again for sure.
Dishwasher arrived and was installed in a timely manner. In fact they where able to deliver the week I purchased due to their local warehousing.Pricing was competitive with other local suppliers and beat a lot of internet deals.Give them a call.
I will buy all of my appliances here. I called on a Wednesday and ordered a refrigerator over the phone and it was delivered on Friday before noon! I received the best customer service from Robert and Will. Although I measured the space incorrectly, they said, no problem, and they are helping me to get the right size with counter depth so that it wont stick out too much. They are patient and understanding. I am heading there next to buy a dishwasher!
Very friendy & helpful. They were able to help me purchase the exact stove I was looking for. The stove was out of stock, but they got it to me a week later, took away my old stove & installed my beautiful new stove within minutes! This is my 2nd stove from them. The first one I bought from Western Appliance in 1999!

Epic Fail! I bought a stove top from them last week - I dont know if it is any good or not. We took delivery from the store directly - and had to get the surface enlarged to fit the unit. I called Western Appliance up to set up an install - they needed to hook up to the pre-existing gas line. They told me they couldnt be here for a week..okay - Ill wait. They were to call Thursday - they didnt. I called Friday morning, the day of the appointment - they had the wrong phone number which explains the no call - this was their mistake! I had a complication - I had to take my wife to the airport - I asked if they could move the appointment. Nope. I asked if they could put me in contact with the installer. Nope. So in the middle of the 11:30am - 3:30pm I took her to the airport. I got back - they hadnt been here yet. Well - at 2pm I get a call with them telling me they arent going to make it today. These guys are unprofessional! They dont keep their commitments. I wont do business with them again - and I urge you not too.

The service was pretty good here. Some attempts to upsell us on a stainless steel fridge, but not too aggressive. The salesman was very knowledgeable about the products and did a good job explaining the differences between models..
I bought a pair of washer and dryer in July and tested it the same day they were delivered and installed. Found that in cold water cycle the clothes came out hot. I tested it multiple times and its consistent. Called back the store several times and they gave me a run-around and told me the spin cycle generates the heat. Finally in September I went back to the store and spoke to the manager and he gave me an 800 number to contact the washer manufacturer. The number was incorrect. I found the correct phone number online myself and called for a technician to come. The technician determined that Western Appliances had installed it incorrectly, they connected the cold water hose to hot water outlet which was why all my cold wash came out hot. I have quite a few high-end designer clothes that can only be washed in cold that were ruined during this 2 months time frame. Very poor post sales service.
These guys need to get their S*** together. They keep calling my wife to schedule a delivery and when I call them back they have no idea what they are delivering. We are not expecting anything, and when we ask them they dont know. They asked if we live in Palo Alto (we dont), what kind of company doesnt know what they are delivering and to where???

Run! Run! Run! Away!!! How Western Appliances manages to stay in business is beyond me. I have bought most of my home appliances for the last 30 years at this long standing San Jose business: from refrigerators and dishwashers, to washers and driers. I came to rely upon outstanding customer service and a good range of appliances. But the last two visits have been so shockingly bad that I’d rather shop at COSTCO than step foot in this ill managed store again.The showroom is poorly maintained, and there are a limited number of dishwashers to choose from. Customer service at the front desk is nonexistent—especially by the old men who screamed and barked at the youngest salesman (who was really doing his best under very bad working conditions) in full view of customers. To add insult to injury, the office lacks basic organizational procedures.In the modern age of internet reviews, business owners who want to learn how to run their businesses into the ground could take lessons from Western Appliances.

Right when my husband and I were about to make our final decisions about appliances for our kitchen remodel, our 17-year old washing machine crashed beyond repair. Suddenly a new washer/dryer duet became our highest priority. We checked on line and at a couple appliance stores but decided to go to Western Appliance on San Carlos in San Jose. The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by Shawn Montarbo who, with 25+ years of experience in the appliance business, provided a wealth of extremely useful and practical information. He was attentive to my worries about our laundry room space limitations, respectful of my time, and very thoughtful about my pocketbook. I left the store having purchased not only a washer and dryer, but also the Thermador Range, hood, dishwasher, and microwave oven my husband and I had picked out elsewhere (for a lot more money!). And...EVERYTHING was delivered within 48 hours. We were beyond thrilled with the service, the tour of options, the total expense and the after sale service. I would definitely recommend Western Appliance to friends and family. Hats off to Shawn!!!

Had a great experience buying all of our appliances for a kitchen remodel from Western Appliance. Prices were excellent and Lawrence, the person who helped us, was extremely knowleggeable about the products and offered many helpful suggetsions and insights; plus he was always available to answer questions.
I was in and out in about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. The Amana fridge i wanted was not in stock but a sales associate was able to order it for me. He offered an extended warranty which i took advantage of. He was very polite and professional. The delivery crew was right on time and were able to set up the new fridge and haul away the old one. They took away all the packaging and left the area clean. I want to buy a new stove soon and i will definitely go to Westen Appliance and get a great Western Deal.
I have shopped for all my appliances needs for my home and rental props for quite some time since I found all the sale reps are very knowledgable (compared to big box retails like HomeDepot or Lowes). With their Internet price-matching, it is a big plus. For the store in San Jose, I recommend talking to Andy; he is very friendly and provides me with plenty of good advices. The store itself usually has good selection of items that are on-sale. Installation appointments have been a breeze for me too (3 hours window delivery time and you can tell them to call you 1-hour in advance before the truck arrives). Hauling the old stuffs away is cheap too.

I called to find out if the appliances my client bought would fit in a cargo van. The man I spoke to in their warehouse said yes. I rented a cargo van for a three hour drive. (six hours round trip) I got there to pick up $14,000 worth of appliances and was told it would not fit in the cargo van. When I explained the reason I rented a cargo van was becuase their warehouse guy told me it would, they implied I was not telling the truth. Yeah right, I want to rent another truck and drive another 3 hours. I will never deal with them nor will I send any of my customers there.
We had an extremely bad experience today at Western Appliance and wish we had read other reviews before even going there. We bought a $400 range hood from them and when we opened the box, my husband realized that the filters were contorted. He didnt open the rest of the unit and packed up the box. When I went to return the box today, I was shown dents and nicks on the body of the hood that I didnt even know existed. I was told that WA wont return the hood. I was also shown a form with my husbands initials stating that the unit was opened and inspected by us at the time of purchase. Unfortunatley, my husband had initialized the form without even bothering to inspect the unit as he trusted Western Appliance to do the right thing! A big lesson for us for the future to carefully inspect the units before purchasing them or initializing such forms. This situation had never occured to us in the past 25 years of appliance shopping and none of the other stores made us sign such forms! Now, we are stuck with a $400 damaged range hood which is not the right size for our kitchen and has contorted filters. I have never come across such poor customer service as what I experienced at the store today.

I purchased a Zephyr under counter beverage and wine cooler that did not work out of the box. I called Zephyr on a Thursday who told me I would be contacted for service. I reported the problem to Western Appliance on Saturday after not hearing anything from Zephyr. Westerns manager contacted the Zephyr company sales person.On the following Tuesday I returned the unit to Western after not being contacted by Zephyr. Not even a call from the sales rep to apologize for the poor experience. As I was arriving at Western, I received a call from a third party repair service. Never a call from Zephyr, a company purported to have stellar service? None of this is Westerns fault, but they could have done more, like offer to pick up the bad unit and deliver a new one. I will never cosider a Zephyr appliance and Western will not be my first choice either. All because someone could not take the time to make a phone call.

After ten years of being a loyal customer of Western appliances, I was sadly disappointed with their customer service, and delivery of the product. They blamed my husband for misunderstanding the terms of the installation of the appliances, and then they proceeded to deliver a damaged product. The manager was very rude and disrespectful, and they have not returned my calls about replacing the damaged appliance. We will NEVER shop there again and I will share my experience with the hundreds of employees at my work place. How sad that a neighborhood establishment has gone down the toilet.
