BEAUTIFUL huge bookstore with reasonable prices, great selection, and very thoughtful organization. Found a bunch of phenomenal quality original Nancy Drews, as well as a lovely well-bound version of the Rubayyat. Great variety and awesome prices. Plus there are cats in there!

Very large selection of all kinds of books, could easily spend an hour just browsing. But plan to spend about that long in here because the categorization does not make it particularly easy to find anything (i.e. I couldnt find Stephen King even after searching in Horror, Mystery/Thriller, and Fiction) but assumed they would have some kind of computerized indexing system where if someone was searching for a specific book or author they could look up exactly where to find it in the store. Also, fair warning, they are very particular about what books they buy back. Allegedly, only brand-new editions of books are accepted (wont take hardcovers if a paperback version has since been released, etc.)

Great place to buy books. As historian, I have found great books that I typically don’t find at other places. I enjoy playing with the black cat!I wish they would have more books(new releases) on social issues such as immigration, gender, and contemporary issues. I come here almost every weekend to buy books.

Always support local!! With a recently expansion of a more robust children/teen section. This not so hidden gem has been my go too for years depending on my seasonal tasted. Only improvement is some type of catalogue, Ive called many times to ask if they had a particular book, they dont keep track. Either way Im always glad to spend an hour or two getting lost amongst the shelves, with the occasional appearance of the two feline familiars. Friendly staff to boot

Perfect place for book lovers to spend an hour or two, looking for interesting books the old fashioned way. If you like to just search for books without anything specific in mind, this is the place to hit. There are new as well as used books. Rates are mostly reasonable and the conditions of the books are also very well. Plus there is a cat to watch over you. Majority are fiction, however non-fiction is also available.

This is a classic used book store, shelf after shelf of everything you can imagine from paperback mysteries to books in exotic languages. And post-pandemic their inventory is starting to fill in again. Now that Bookbuyers is gone from Mt. View, they probably have the most comprehensive inventory of any used bookstore in the South Bay. They also have a ton of stuff online.

The person running the store was very helpful in directing me to the correct bookshelves to find a memoir I was looking for. Also, there is a cat 10/10

Found a cozy bookstore I never knew about. This place is peaceful and huge. Its like a maze. Staff are nice and I was surprised to see some resident cats. Its picture perfect.

Place was very comforting, Melo vibes throughout the building. I wanted to at least walk out with 10 books haha. They also have a cute little black cat, that looks at you and have mind control of you because youll develop this urge to want to pet it. Lol

Overall, this book store is very cozy and comfy. Quite happy for the most part. I like the place interiorly a lot. It feels amazing. There was only like, one cat outside when I came here. It was cute. But I saw how rude the rules were written out, pretty out of place for a book store tbh. And that two way mirror I noticed scared me a little while I was just trying to get a book. Also the hand sanitizer was there, but it was smelly and spoiled and made my hands stunk. Other then those few problems, its nice. It has lots of books, good prices, and looks cool, both inside and outside.

This is one of my favorite places, and certainly one of my favorite bookstores 🤩 it is labyrinthine and so much fun to peruse. They have books on everything you could want them to and the staff is very helpful. Couldn’t recommend more!

Recycle Bookstore in San Jose stocks mostly used books but does carry a small number of popular new books. The store is huge and I cant imagine someone walking in and not finding a book they are interested in. The store has a friendly, knowledgeable staff and two furry live-in cats (one likes pets). This store is locally owned (support your community!) and a great place to wander and browse and buy books.

I support this business in what they are doing to help save lives. One of a few preowned bookstores and bookstores in general in San Jose. Plenty of nearby coffeeshops if you prefer to start your reading before going home.

Recycle Bookstore is hands down my favorite bookstore in the Bay Area. Very wide selection, quiet space that is never crowded, helpful staff. I always walk out with a book or two, whether for myself or as a gift.Im thankful that it is open during quarantine. The ambiance is cozy, well-kept, and clean, even pre-Covid. I prefer buying used books, and their items are always in great condition. I also am able to find titles that I dont usually see stocked in other bookstores.Please keep local bookstores alive. What an epic shop! A great mixture of used and some new books, all commingled. All the man fiction and similar is through the back - a trove.Costs are about $2_$4 for used paperbacks up to Amazon+ prices for new books.It is worth spending a bit more here to support such an institution.

Excellent selection of gently pre-owned books in a wide variety of topics. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be returning many many times. If you love to read, this is an awesome alternative to continue building your own library at very affordable prices.

This is one of my favorite book stores, filled with unusual and hard to find volumes, from out-of-print ancient classics to the best in contemporary authors; my go-to place for ancient history to modern science fiction! If there is a must see place in Santa Clara County for the bibliophile, its Recycle Bookstore!

Really the most wonderful place! They have so many books that all those book lovers like me can be lost in this world. They have two friendly cats as well who roam around with fun! Must go if you are looking for any sort of book. Reasonable prices as well.

I brought in several novels and other interesting literature to the store that was not self-help or political, got a really strong snub by the guy who made the decision to say all my books were un-wanted without really looking at them. Meanwhile a woman is bringing in books and seemed to be someone he wanted to do business with. First impressions, some fall by way side. Anyway, Happy Inauguration Day!

Lovely place and all sort of book available, from the usual fiction/non-fiction to specialties like crochet or interior design. Theres a small-ish section of foreign language books, theres business, law, history, etc! Ive found a few D&D books as well!

Like any other bookstore, but better. Quiet reading spots, plenty of step stools to reach top shelved books, roaming cat wanderer, and the shop owner is a really nice guy.

Its lovely thrift bookstore! Tons of books! I love kids department - lot of old and modern books, encyclopedias, picture books, historical and adventures.2-hours free parking on the street.

This was an excellent and rather large used bookstore with a wide variety of topics and subjects available and 3 large side rooms with books on different subjects. I highly reccomend visiting it if you havent, though do bear in mind occupancy is limited due to Covid and they are asking you to limit your visit to 1 hour in keeping with social distancing guidelines!

There is a phenomenal selection of both used and new books here! We came with a list of books we were hoping to find only to find each one- quite the treat. We appreciated the procedure to come in as youre expected to wait before entering, use hand sanitizer, each person needs to wear masks properly and stay away from other customers.

Made my roommate take me last weekend and it was so cool !! they have a great selection, the staff was awesome, theyre responsible with their covid precautions, and there is a cat :) definitely check it out if you get the chance !!

This was the first bookstore that I went to post COVID shelter in place lift. Real impressive store. I love how it is organized in various sections, so you can browse by author and category. Will definitely come back again to kill a few hours. I just hope there will be areas to sit at in the future, but realize that store fronts may be changing away from that due to health considerations.

Staff is ice cold bordering on rude. Tree hugger liberally insane - just check out the window display selections. I couldnt tell you how uncomfortable I feel when attempting questions or other interactions. Thank heavens for online books. I go and check out the books Im interested in, then I get the ISBN and buy online. And if you want to sell them books they hardly pay a tenth of what they will turn it around for. Total rip.

They have a surprisingly great selection of STEM textbooks. Note that you can browse their catalog on Amazon if youre looking for something specific. This is especially useful because while there is a math section within the store, there are many more STEM books spread throughout the store on top of the shelves in other sections.

I love. This place. Cats, piles of books, wooden signs, the kind of place you grew up in if you were a bookish kid but that you cant find anymore. Like home, man. Good selection and knowledgeable staff, too.

Great selection of books. Support local and buy used or new from them.Think Fahrenheit 451 and dont let them take away your physical reading materials. Censorship can happen easily in digital media as well as no longer being supported. If Google or Apple decide to no longer support the apps you have purchased movies, books, or music from, the catalog you spent your money on can go away. Think Vudu and iTunes.

Reminds me of the used bookstores I used to visit in NYC. Plenty of nooks and crannies of wonderful books on every subject imaginable, to get lost among. A true rarity and asset to our community! A must visit for any book lover!

Think about it.If you’re used to paying full retail for books, you need to visit this store to break that habit. You can get the same stories, the same information here, locally, at less than retail, for no shipping and handling, as soon as you can drive over, and support a local business all at the same time.If that hasn’t convinced you, Greenlee’s is right across the street. We always stop there after buying too many books just to get some of their famous cinnamon bread.

Extensive used bookstore with a very cute cat

This is one of my favorite places to visit in San Jose! Their collection is incredible. The staff is sweet and always available to help. I was walking around the shop with my baby in my arms carrying a few books and one of the ladies working their came to me offering to hold my books at the counter. I go their as often as I can! Highly recommend a visit if you love books!

You can find all kinds of books here, old and new, mostly in great shape. There are nice old chairs in isles for people who would like to sit and read or just browse. The staff were nice and helpful.And there are cats there!!

Its a medium sized place with a huge selection. Way more than my local half price books store. I love the eclectic selection and, of course, the cats. I only wish I lived closer.

A big variety of books and magazines is represented here. If you are a bookworm, you should definitely visit it. The staff is also welcoming and friendly. Assistants are always ready to help and find what you need.

This bookstore is my happy place. They have an amazing selection of books, I have sold books back to them as well and gotten a good price for my books. Ive even managed to find some rarer books i collect like Harry potter in different languages. The staff is amazing and always so helpful finding just what you need. Overall I just love this place.

I love a good used bookstore. These folks know their used books though. Ive never found a steal like I have at other used bookstores that dont realize the value of certain books. Still fun to look around at this shop. They have a great selection. I just wish I could afford to buy more of the books Ive spotted here!
