Okay- we see the side of the building on the way to French Hospital for appointments and finally decided to drop in. I needed cool and unusual snacks for the Halloween party. The young lady at the register is not just pleasant- indeed she is bubbly, full of smiles and knew her cookies. Good selection of Saki. Picked up some fresh ginger root, candy and a mess of other snacks - I have absolutely no idea of what they are or how they will taste. Thats the nice thing about holiday get togethers. A lot of folks unknowingly- volunteer as test subjects(I included) The young gal did point out the ones she tried and liked and also pointed out others she did not know about. I will be back and, A) let her know what happened and B) stick up on more snacks with names I cant pronounce and full of stuff I never heard of. All of this came to $26.93 (,Saki had different prices for different budgets)

Love this place! Great selection of Asian and Hawaiian products, including all kinds of authentic staples, sauces, condiments, snacks, candies, and a nice selection of sakes and beer, too. But best of all, the lady that works the front counter is awesome. So friendly, and very helpful. I can to admit to feeing a bit out of my depth in an Asian market. But our local store is full of new foods to discover, plus the help I need to find them.

There were lots of Asian cooking staples and tasty snacks. I thought there was a good variety and the woman there was extremely friendly. I definitely will be coming back!

Great selection of various Asian ingredients and products. The staff is super nice.

According to the photos, it looks like a well stocked market. I am looking forward to see it while I visit my daughter. I would like to address the expensive prices that some people have pointed to. I live in SFV, a subhurb of Los Angeles - basically 20 minutes from Los Angeles Chinatown or 25 minutes from SGV (Chinese Neighborhoods). I expect to pay between 15 to 35 cents on top of the prices there. At SLO, I expect the prices are a lot more - driving, delivery, etc. I would say that SLO has a 2% asian population (mostly at Cal Poly). So the prices that they charge is reasonable (convenience) and expected. What you expect fresh dim sum too?! LOL!

Great little market - Friendly, helpful staff! Nice selection for being a small market. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the prices are kind of expensive.

San Luis Oriental Market has a wide variety of delicious products. If you have any questions, the owner is always very happy to help. She has lots of good recommendations for the best products for whatever dish you might be trying to make. She has not steered us to anything that wasnt perfect for what we were trying to accomplish. there are all kinds of ingredients for whatever type of Asian cooking you might be interested in. Theres also convenience foods, snacks, treats and desserts, and a variety of adult beverages! Every time I go there, I find something new that I want to try. I highly recommend it! Shop locally, support San Luis Obispo businesses, and eat delicious food while doing it!

The owner is super friendly and this place stocks a lot of items you cant get anywhere else!

The Market was very nice and had various foods,spices and desserts to choose from. Staff was more than welcoming and will visit again. The only thing I would recommend is dont go expecting parking. The lot is small and tedious. Lack of parking skills from fellow patrons, so just park on the street or nearby and walk-in because its still worth it.

This place has a great selection of Asian foods on the Central Coast. It is a small store with a wide array of Japanese, Chinese, and Thai foods.Lemon grass and galangal fresh, with Thai basil. Noodles galore. Many frozen items and even yuba and yuzu kosho.Happy New Year!

If youre looking for Asian food or ingredients in SLO, this is the place to go. Its definitely a bit expensive, but its understandable due to the variety of imported products. Owners are great people and super friendly!

Im a big fan of this market. They have a good variety of seasonings, sauces and other ingredients needed for forays into Asian inspired recipes. They have a few freezers and a few refrigerators for frozen and fresh ingredients.The best is when they have fresh, homemade pork buns! Ive only had them on Sunday afternoons, but it is possible they are available other days and times.

This market is a place to buy whatever you need to make a delicious meal, Thai, Japanese or for some rare snacks. You don’t have to drive to LA or San Francisco to get your kitchen staples or snacks!

Was running late trying to get there, and called about 5 minutes before they were set to close. The owner was very courteous and said she would hold the door for me to let me to get what I needed. I showed up 2 minutes past the hour, and sure enough she was there anticipating my arrival.Product was in stock, and the price was fair. Hard to ask for much more than that. Glad for the freshening of the store, its definitely heading the right direction!

Small selection. Good place to buy recipe items for someone who wants to try cooking Asian food. They have your typical jasmine rice, wrapper for sushi, frozen potsticker, different sauces etc. there was only one person working there and she seems knowledgeable how to use the items she sells and speak really good English. But for someone who enjoys traditional Asian cooking and looking for Asian ingredients this place doesn’t carry enough items. Overall this place is clean and convenient. Prices are high compared to other Asian food market.

I love this place. The owner and the store clerk were so kind to us. They gave us some advices about other places that we planned to visit. Thank to kind people like them. I tried a coconut drink it was so good. Pretty refreshing since it was very hot at SLO.

This is exactly how you would imagine an Asian store in SLO would look like. Its a great place to find what you need and the lady that was working there is very friendly! I like that there are ingredients from all sorts of Asian, not just Chinese. It would be nice however if it was remodeled just a little more. It doesnt have to be a whole foods but a nice small seven eleven would be nice.

They have almost every imaginable Oriental food or spice you can think of at far lower prices than the big chain grocery stores.The owners are great folks and if youre lucky enough to be there when the fresh pork buns are available count yourself lucky. I love this place because I can actually get some specialty Asian foods here. The prices arent bad given that they have almost no competition and the selection is quite nice. Huge selection of furikake as well so you can try out a bunch of different flavors.

Family owned with excellent service. This is a one stop shop for asian ingredients. They bring in fresh produce weekly in alot of variety for different asian cuisine from around the world. We were thrilled to find they had all the asian ingredients we needed. We highly recommend.

The only real Asian Market in SLO that has all the goodies you would expect. We go to stock up at least a couple of times a year. Full of Asian imported foods, if you like to cook and want a selection of ingredients from Asia, this is the place. They also have a small selections of Asian related gifts.

This shop was super cool and had all the ingredients I was looking for to make Ramen and Pho. The male owner who helped us was over the top friendly and went way above and beyond to help us find what we needed. 100% would recommend and definitely will return! Thank you guys so much!!

Well, its a far cry from the huge Asian markets I had grown used to. This is it, as far as Asian groceries go, in SLO. The owner is great, the packaged food selection is adequate, the frozen stuff, ok. I was able to find about 80% of my yearly Oshogotsu supplies. Ill continue to shop there, but I love it when I go home to the big specialty Asian markets.
