The gift shop is to the left of the entrance to the church. There is a museum inside the Mission that is a look at the history and the surrounding area. Starting with displays of the Chumash Indians and their culture, the museum winds through many rooms, with history of the church, and its transformation over the last 240 years. The picture collection of all the adobes around town, I found quite interesting. The Map on the wall in that room showed the ranches from land grants long ago. The displays are that of an old museum, aging, and a fun look into the local history. Cost is by donation.
Very good experience, giving insight into the missions history and some insight into the Chumash. Only reason for a 4 star was the lack of a complete unbiased retelling, a slight given due to the location of the museum inside a mission.
Lots of cheap little nick knacks but some really nice stuff as well. The interesting part is the museum that you walk through the gift shop to see.
