Josephine was kind, quick, professional and wasted absolutely no time. We went over ALL my failed pointe shoes, why they were duds, and what I had done to modify them. We went over my biggest issues and what I could do to improve the way the shoes fit.She gave me great tips and was realistic about expectations, but never made me feel bad for not being perfect. Finally, she decided on one shoe that I had never tried, no hesitation whatsoever and that was it.It took about 6 weeks for my order to ship out, since the shoes I was fitted in were out of stock and needed to be made. Once they were out to be shipped it took approximately 4 days to be at my doorstep.When my shoes arrived I was ecstatic, but still remained skeptical because I had never found a good fit. I was determined to give up if this shoe didn’t work out either.However, as soon as they were on I could not believe how perfect they felt! Finally, the “fitting like a glove” feeling happened for me! I can push over my box, I have much better alignment, no big toe pain, the shank wasn’t twisting, I felt supported, there was no gapping, etc.I’m still sooo shocked that she was able to fit me virtually and only needed one shoe, without any hesitation. She really is the pointe shoe fairy godmother!Thank you, Josephine and all staff at The Pointe Shop, for making ballet accessible to everyone!

We love The Pointe Shop! Totally worth the nearly full day road trip for us coming from Bakersfield. They have the biggest selection of brands and styles to work with and will find the perfect shoe and even entertain some on a whim try ons because your child has heard about certain brands on social media or TV and thinks they know better than the fitter. However, they will also be straightforward about why they think things are not working right. I think a good relationship with a fitter is like finding the perfect training, photographer, or any relationship in dance really. You need someone that understands a lot of factors (are you at a school that’s more contemporary/American and wants you to “roll through” your shoes, or Russian style popping up and down?), particular quirks in your unique feet, how bendy you are at various joints, how strong you are, how all of that is changing while you are growing, etc. We’ve tried a few different fitters/stores over the last couple years where we’ve had both good and bad experiences picked for convenience or personal recommendations, but we’ve always been happiest with the shoes Melissa (and now Josephine) have put her in.

Yes, Josephine really does know how to fit dancers toes into the perfect pair of pointe shoes. Make an appointment, you will not be disappointed. We drove four hours each way and worth every second. THANK YOU!

Josephine needs to be credited for taking the pointe shoe fitting experience to a whole new level. I cant imagine trying a new style pointe shoe without her expert fitting, especially with my shallow and rather ugly feet. The Pointe Shop is a must stop for every ballet dancer needing pointe shoes. The staff has extensive knowledge and experience fitting every type of dancers feet. My daughter had to stop dancing for a year due to illness and they have been working with her every month to keep her progressing as her feet regain their strength.

I went to The Pointe Shop for new shoes, since my teacher said the ones I had were too long on me. Immediately, the fitter, Melissa, knew they werent right. She gave me two options of shoes and I tried both. They were a harder shank than my last ones, but my pointe looked better in them. This showed how much she knew about pointe shoes! I am very excited to start dancing in them, and they are so much more comfortable.

GG is an expert. She listens to my daughter and can figure out exactly what works and what doesnt work for her. She continues until my daughter has the perfect shoe. We had other fittings from different stores and it resulted in a sub-par fit. We wont be using anyone else from now on. Highly recommend.

Josephine has been fitting my daughter for 6+years now, starting when she was 14 and having a terrible time finding a satisfactory shoe that worked with her very strong, but flexible feet. In a single fitting, she evaluated her foot and put her in the perfect shoe. I was supposed to have a fitting back in March, but COVID-19 cancelled my trip, so I did a virtual fitting with Josephine. Usually when I get fitted for shoes, it’s exhausting and takes HOURS. My daughter had an improper pointe shoe fitting at another shop, which left her with awful blisters the first time she wore them. A week later, I took her to The Pointe Shop at the recommendation of some dance mom friends and I was truly amazed. Josephine was able to look at her foot type, examine her point and arch, and then knew exactly which shoe to fit her with. The first shoe she tried was a perfect fit and a match made in heaven. She danced in them the next day and others could see the difference in how beautiful her feet looked and how well she danced in them. I absolutely, HIGHLY, recommend The Pointe Shop! I wish I had known about them before I subjected my daughter to the pain she had to endure with the bad shoes and fitter.
