Visiting Santa Clara from Dallas.. i was advised to check this place out for some snacks & i must say TERRIBLE TERRIBLE experience. Picked up 2 pastries and 1 samosa & realized that the pastry had fungus as you can see the picture. Also the samosa had the smell of refried oil, if you guys do not care about hygiene its better to shut down this place. How is it possible that everything was unhygienic.DO NOT EAT HERE… this place is super unhygienic
Have been a regular customer of rangoli for last few years. Recent two visits had a very bad experience with the cashiers, rude people with no sense on how to talk to the customers. Not sure if the owner has changed or just the cashier people. On one occasion a new trainee was trained by another person with all rowdy language and gestures. The one yesterday morning was behaving as if he didn’t want customer to come to his shop. Definitely never had this experience ever before so definitely a red flag for the owners if they are listening
This business does not appear honest to me. They dont display prices on any item and when you ask the price on an item its almost twice of what you expect. It does not justify because the quality is very mediocre. Some items are really old and should be taken off shelves. The sweets have too much sugar. And the cashiers should be trained on social skills.
A full-on Indian mithai shop which sells a number of chaat and snack items as well. The mithai is expensive (around 16 dollars for one pound) but there are lots of varieties. I recommend the gulabjamuns.Among the chaat items, I’ve tried the Daal Kachori (they had other varieties as well) which was served with a green coconut chutney and sweet sauce. It was crisp and fresh. I really liked their Dahi Vada! Although it cost around 7 dollars, it was a full plate with two vadas in a tangy sweet and sour sauce mixed in yogurt. Hits the spot when you’re craving that desi chaat. The place is vegetarian.
I was recently introduced to Rangoli a few weeks ago and have now been about 4 times. What bothers me the most is that only a young sardar on my first visit wore a mask (yay) and 3-4 employees since have never worn a mask (boo). The mithai have been consistently tasty. The samosas that I picked up at night were old but still decent. My last visit was yesterday afternoon and although everything tasted great, I cant continue to visit here regularly since 2 orders of ghewar (3 pieces each), a small box of jalebi and 2 pieces of kalakand barfi was $50. I had to ask the maskless man twice for the total since I was in shock. Not worth it to go out of the way but this place will do in a pinch.
Pathetic sweets, my husband bought boondi laddo, Malai pedal and kaju katli, no one liked any of the sweets, not even kids, . total waste of 44 usdNot going to buy again.
A convenient place to pick up Indian sweets, however, I think the sweets are pretty overrated- they’re too sweet and just don’t taste good or recently prepared. That being said, they have a very impressive variety and good customer service, even during the busier times like Diwali.
Worst Indian store in Bay Area, and highly overrated.Bad quality of food, ill-tempered staff.Firstly, there are no price labels on most of the items. So when we went to the counter for billing, they don’t even display how much each item is being charged. And when we saw the receipt in the car finding a few items a bit too expensive, we went to return those. But one of them murmured in Hindi, “Why do they even buy these items when they can’t afford these!” - and I was stunned! That’s it. Never going there again. And I do not recommend this to anyone else.
They sell indian sweets but no indian master card( credit card).very surprising
Their special samosa that I tried was great. Also tried the mini rasmalai and other bengali sweets from here. They were great as well, not too sweet.Little bit on the expensive side.
Very crowded. No social distancing. Rude staff. Do not give receipts.
Good place to pick up Indian sweets and snacks. They have boxed snacks and sweets along with fresh hot snacks. They have variety of samosas, kachoris, puffs as well as cakes and pastries.
Samosas and other savories are the best when compared to the sweets here. Nevertheless they can be a little bit generous with the sauces they give for the samosas.
A lot of sweet and savory, love their milk sweets. You can get them in pounds or just by pieces. I wanted to mango kulfi sweet one piece but the shop keeper refused and said it can be given by pound. But I saw another guy giving it in pieces for the person behind me. Apart from the service, the food testede good.
Lot of sweets and snacks to choose from. many different kachoris. Prefer sweets from elsewhere.
Way too expensive and the quality is not as good. They do have a great variety though. They dont have price tags on their boxes!
They dont customize size of kaju katli .. disappointed... Yet to taste sweet
Excellent samosas and Paneer samosas! Havent tried too many places in the south bay but really love them from here and recommend!!
This is the worst place to taste indian sweets. Prices are damn high, your $10 spent is worth less than 1 cent. Never take a chance. Sincere review
First thing - its expensive.Worth it? Pinches a bit on wallet. But I do like their samosas, matar kachoris. I have tried some of their sweets and havent been disappointed. But if some other more affordable outlet opens up nothing will stop me to stop going to Rangoli.
Taste is good. But most of the sweets are rose scented. Giving 3 stars because its overpriced. I love sweets and snacks of this shop. But due to high price, cant visit regularly. Rich people only can visit regularly. :)
Best sweets in the Bay Area. Try the sandhesh and thank me later
We bought Kala jamun! If I had a choice of selecting zero rating, I would give it! Bad quality. They shouldnt be serving such a bad quality stock. It was not fresh at all!I strongly recommend you to taste a piece before buying!!
One of the worst Indian store ever went.. food was not fresh, and rates are very high, guy at the counter try to charge extra. So please everyone who visits here check bill, no customer service..These guys only taking benefit because there’s no other Indian sweet shop nearby…I’ll suggest apna bazar sweet shop to everyone..
Bought kaju katli box that I had to throw. The box of boondi laddoo had a strand of hair in it.Went back today after many years. Dont see myself going back again.
Fresh food, yummy delicacies! Little pricey but the quality is worth it!
Asked for special samosas but they packed the ordinary ones. i was charged the price of special and the one served was not fresh. I think they wanted to get that thing out quickly before it turned stale ..wont recommend the place..This is not expected when things are priced quite high..u will lose good customers if u continue like this..
Very bad quality sweets. Shop is big with lots of items but of very poor quality.Tried motichoor ladoo, balushahi, jilebi, and gulab jamun. All of them were much worse than regular supermarket sweets.Texture is correct and sweets look good, but taste definitely is not right, and can find better sweets elsewhere. No price labels on items and you wont even know the price when billing. You can see price only after the bill is printed 🙌This along with customer service and attitude, better to look elsewhere
I typically buy the special samosas from here. But one day i bought and when we ate at least half of the samosas had spoiled ingredients. Unfortunately it became late in the night, else would have returned them. From then i never buy anything from this place. Cakes and kalakand are best sweet items here.
We got samosa for breakfast and it was so so good! It is as close as you can get for a aloo samosa! Must must try!
Excellent place for Indian sweets and snacks. Their special samosas and sweets are a hit in any party you take them to! On the expensive side, be prepared to spend for the quality!
Great tasting Indian sweet but definitely expensive.
Staffs need customer service training. Just bring your relatives and put them in the shop wont cut it. Staffs (specially the indian ones) need to learn how to behave with customers, how to priory them (keep in mind they are paying you money, not the other way)
Highly overrated.. taste was not good… very bad customer service. Will never go for this shop..
Good collection of Indian sweets and namkeens. Liked the badam milk. Though this is very expensive everything is priced more than double for what you can get from any Indian grocery store which taste almost the same. 1 star less for the prices.Update: Gujiya was the hardest I have ever seen, its like a brick. I had to throw it in trash.See my video.Taking one more star off for the sweets quality.
Sweet are not fresh. I bought sweets of 50$ and I regret. Never step in again.
The sweets are pretty good. But the customer service was very bad.
I had a similar experiences as other reviwers. First of all no price tags, second they didnt tell me whats the bill, they just charged the card and didnt bother to give me the bill...I was attending kids and left without much thought..I was surprised by the charge on my card, either they over charged me or the prices are very high. Ask the price before you pay. They are misleading customers intentionally by not advertising prices so we tempt to pick thinking prices would be more or less similar to other shops.
Samosa is very tasty. But the front desk attitude is terrible. They dont even bother greeting you or saying thank you after payment. I would have fired them
Awesome spread and delicious mouth watering sweets. Samosas are a must try
They are overrated. Very exorbitantly priced. They are taking wrong advantage of being one of the very few dedicated sweet shops in the are. Whatever you get here can get in any ordinary Indian store at much lesser price. There are some exception though, eg. very few sweet shops have Bengali sweets. Thats the only plus point they have.
If their employees were one-tenth as sweet (read polite) as their deserts, this would be a five star plus. They have the rudest front desk employees. Seems like no one teaches them simple customer courtesy like asking anything else?, will that be all? let alone how is your day going?
Highly overrated, over priced and over hyped place. There are certainly some items which are of good quality and may justify the price. And this one star is for those handful items like ras malai. I tried many other items like Dahi Vada, Gur Jalebi, Kala Jamun etc and all were tasteless. Kala Jamun was like someone tried the recipe first time, got it all wrong and made something else. It was stone hard and dough inside was uncooked. They should have the packed by date and price tag. I assume they have so many options so cant keep good quality and freshness. This happens when businesses cant balance profiteering over customer value proposition.
Absolute love. The shop itself is an addiction for people like me. Must try the samosa with chatni. They are hot and fresh. Also there are Kachori, dahi Wada, dhokla etc, various different Indian snacks. Sweets are too good. Love their ‘sandesh’. If you are Bengali, please stop by this place for an authentic piece of soft delicacy. Rashomalai, Tirupathi Laddu, Malai chop, besan laddu... The choices are infinite. Everything is fresh, tasty and pocket friendly.
Tried their savory. Not worth the price. There’s so many more places around in Bay Area where there’s lot of chat options.
I have been here 3 to 4 times. Their staff have real attitude problem. have been several times where they served someone before me just because I had less times on my cart. Prices are pretty high compared to other shops.
This is one of the best sweet store but need to maintain how to treat a customer at register.
The one guy with big chain on him at billing, was so rude . He dont even care what you say, literally bahaves likes throwing sweets on your face. Should take this seriously by management, when there is no manners at customers no value for the buisness.
Worst sweets. Their quality is going down exponentially. They make the sweets colorful but taste wise really worst.
Meh. Go somewhere else. Terrible attitude from the staff and overpriced for what tastes exactly like something that you can buy from a frozen counter.
Amazing samosas - paneer one especially. Sugar free sweets like rasmalai, rasgulla were tasty too. Urad dal jilebi was awesome as well.
Dont expect the sweets to have Indian taste which you may have experienced in your respective home states. Kaju katli is completely different taste and costly. Gulab jamun is absolutely different taste. Rava laddu has different bad taste. We threw all the sweets in trash
Authentic Indian sweets and snacks available here, and fresh.
Top class samosa! I went there on Diwali with a friend. There was a huge queue, so its highly popular sweets shops with more Diwali stuff. Quality staff and quality samosa. Would recommend more when I try more.
Rangoli is NOT worth it. They put old stuff in the refrigerator until it is sold … I bought Almond barfi and they are using old material/almonds ..… Save a trip and don’t go there …Go to Lakshmi instead, best quality for the price you pay ….
An amazing shop for all kinds of sweets. Samosas are a must try.
Terrible terrible mithai. We had their pedal n chum chum n try it was a disaster. They tasted horrible n pedas were just tasteless n had a very coarse texture - not at all smooth. Prices are obnoxious n we got zipped. Never buying from them again
Took rasgulla and peanut crackers.. pretty below avg
Nice place for Indian sweets and pastries, has variety of sweets and they replenish it every 3 hours, Has some good unique Indian sweets,Overall good menu.
Paid $15 for 1.2lb khaman. I am a gujju and I know that nowhere in the world it should cost that much. If I tell someone in Gujarat that I paid 1000 rupees for not even 1kg khaman, I think people will laugh at me for 1000 days!!Everything looked fresh but prices are just not right! Extremely overpriced!Updating; had good, not worth it at all!
Good collection of sweets, Expensive when compared to other places, Avoid Samosa(Jaguar of Samosas 2.99$ per piece), Not worth it.
Overpriced!!! None of the items have price on them, seems like the counter staff charge based on their whims and fancy! Paid 20$ for a tiny box of rasmalai !!! Terrible entitled attitude from the staff as well, no manners to treat the customer well!!!
I think this place is overrated as we dont have much options for sweets in the area. They have variety of stuff but only few things are tasty. Overpriced too. I dont think I will go anytime soon. Bought several different things to try, snacks and sweets. Only liked the kalakand. Thats it. Staff was also in hurry and did not seem polite while billing.
Cant be sure about the freshness of stuff as they dont put dates, and weve had a poor experience. Most food items are good - if only they put dates and prices - some things are very expensive, and one knows only at the counter.
Firstly I got 4 sweets boxes but they charged me for 5 and when I went back to ask them about it. The server knew having scanned same thing twice but didn’t bother to correct it until I went back!Secondly, I gave advanced order of 20 samosas and had my friend pick it up later that day. When my friend went there with the prepaid receipt, they said the order was only for 10 samosa, even with the receipt they couldn’t calculate the number of ordered based on unit price. It took them 20-30 mins to resolve it and we ultimately ate 20 cold samosas.Rangoli sweets please get your act together. The food is great but business practices could be better.
Love the fresh samosas and kachori. Be sure to ask for extra green chutney :DThey have a good variety of sweets as well.
Horrible service, cant customise sweet box to try different sweets in the store.Extremely unhelpful and unwelcoming staff ( change the boys on the counter ASAP).0% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.Had to walk to Kabila sweets to get decent sweets at reasonable price.WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO FRIENDS.
I purchased badam halwa from the refrigerator section. It was the most horrible halwa I ever tasted. The ghee is stinking and I had to throw the whole thing. Looks like the ghee used is of very poor quality. I recommend not buying this particular product. I am giving 2 star because I purchased motichoor laddu which is not bad.
Onion samosas tastes and all sweets too
This is one place Ill never take my business to again!1) price-wise: unless you have money to burn, suggest you goto any other Indian store. One box of 4 sweet pieces cost $10!! And spicy peanuts $9 (usually less than $5 in every other place)! They dont show prices on the item boxes (so you dont know upfront what the price is) when you ask at the front desk for price, employees just snicker at you / are rude - as if theyre doing you a massive favor - when looking up the price.2) Employees: Bad experience -- there were 3 guys, none of them care - chatting between themselves / seemingly laughing at me. The guy made a face when I asked him for some sauce to go with the puffs I bought.3) Quality - while the quality of the sweets / puffs were good, nothing out of the world to justify the steep price or the lack of good behavior in front of a paying customer.
We called a day prior to pick up an order of 20 samosas the next day. The guy on the phone said no need to order as they’ll have it available next day in the morning. When I went to the shop, they didn’t have it and I mentioned my phone call and they were all confused. The chef said he’ll make it fresh and get it out in 10-15 mins. I was fine with it. 20 mins passed, it wasn’t ready, I see that they were handing out bulk order of samosas to people who came after me. I finally argued to get mine and it had lesser quantity than what I had ordered so he gave me a replacement item instead. 3 stars only because samosas were nice.
Best rasmalai we ever had in bay area!! I believe this place is over rated, but they surely deserve good rating for few selective desserts. Ras Malai top the list.
Had a quick stop at Rangoli Sweets yesterday to get some snacks. Ended up buying Kala Jamun (utter disaster - could have used it for construction (never had it that hard ever before in my lifetime - absolute waste of $20), Daal kachori (definitely wouldnt recommend), Aloo Samosa - which turned to have been the face saving grace and Kathi roll (just ok) .Instead of getting to enjoy it, we ended up trashing the kachori and Jamun as they were an absolute disaster.Hopefully this is acknowledged and their food items get better ( for the price that they charge - INSANE) from here, if anything.Definitely disappointed!!!
Extremely overpriced. As an example, a box of Kaju Katli cost me $21.76, based on per pound price of $17. A box of jalebi was around $14.
One star because they exist and one star for the variety of sweets... Docking a star for the price, and docking two stars for the use of mystery oil in their ingredients list. Do better, Rangoli, have clearer labels and not just the bare minimum information in this day and age. Ill revisit the review if the labeling status quo changes.
We went there to buy jalebi and ended up buying spicy veg puffs, dal kachori and aloo tikki burger as well. Jalebi was delicious and no complaints about it. Aloo tikki burger was okay. But all the other snacks were terrible!!! Not crispy at all. It was so disappointing.
Most authentic bengali sweet shop in bay area. Coming here for 15+ years, havent seen any decline in quality.
We have regularly bought samosas from this shop. No doubt they are tasty, but food is not always fresh. Out of 10 times, 6 times samosa ingredients are pretty still. Request owners to please maintain freshness.
One of the best places to get fresh Indian sweets. Have quite a few sugar free options as well :)
Worthy of a negative few stars on multiple dimensions - sub-standard quality/stale food, terrible attitude of staff, ridiculous prices, not to mention questionable hygiene standards currently. They never put any price tags on their food, so pricing is always a surprise on the check out counter, they refuse to give basic dipping sauces (and argue with customers about this), have found food to be stale on more than a few occasions and they continue to sharply raise prices on their products. Nobody on their staff really maintains any covid safety guidance on spacing, staff is handling food with bare hands, some of their friends/family glide in/out disregarding any safety measures. There are **much** better alternatives in Bay area for sweets and snacks they offer and with higher quality imo.Wish they learn to read all the reviews people are writing for them, and fix their food + attitude + staff.
Poor quality of sweets. Charges random and very high prices.
Not worth it. Expensive stuff for old and dry food/sweets.
This place has gone downhill. The sweets i bought recently didnt taste good. They need to improve the quality and the taste for me to return back.
Went there yesterday and didnt like the place. Rude staffs, products dont have a price tag and never had so terrible samosa in my life. All sweets look loaded with artificial colors. The arrogant attitude of stuff is just the cherry on top.
Food quality is good, but doesnt mean they have to put higher price.. each item is very costly, to level we need to complain.. few staffs are not friendly.. wont visit again
Sour jalebi. Sugar free berfi tastes like pepto bismol . Good if you want to throw up.Not recommend. Cashier was friendly. No price tags. Clean restroom.
Got a packet of Kala Jamun, one Kaju Pista biscuit pack and 2 dal Kachori for almost $30! Overpriced and nauseatingly flavoured Jamun + biscuits! Jamun were not cooked completely, Kachori was ok, used to be a decent Indian snack shop...will stick to Haldirams!
Amazing Indian sweets . Lot of variety and good quality Indian sweets . Love the social samosa from here
