All the guys at the shop are super friendly and its definitely a great atmosphere. The main reason Im not giving it a full five star rating is they dont really accommodate walk-ins. I waited more than an hour and a half just to get my beard trimmed because I did not have an appointment. The only reason I put up with it on that day was because I had absolutely nothing better to do. Any other day I would have walked out after 20 minutes. Even the owner decided he would rather walk into the back room and have a snack and make some phone calls etc rather than put a customer, who was willing to spend a good amount of money and become a repeat client, first.

I came in the other day for a regular haircut. I told them I wasnt too picky and I just wanted my hair shorter. Usually at fantastic Sams this means I dont care what style you do, just keep it about an inch. The barber asked me if I wanted it all one size or faded in. I again said I wasnt too picky but with my fingers I showed him about 3/4 of an inch for the size I wanted and he said alright.He started by putting on what looked like a normal hair clip attachment and made a straight shave from the front center of my forehead to the back of my head, sort of a reverse mohawk. I immediately thought well, thats a new way to start a haircut he then asked me if I wanted it shorter than that and I said no. I unfortunately couldnt ask for it to be slightly longer again because he had already shaved it to way less than I asked for. He shaved my entire head to a good short size in about 5 minutes at which point I thought wed be done. I remember thinking thats it? I couldve done that at home. Then he started to attempt to do this fade thing which led to him repeatedly scraping portions of my head. Now, I was fine with it for a little while but he was pressing really hard and doing it for a very long time. The clippers were hot, he kept getting distracted talking to his other barber buddies, and kept scraping away at the back right of my scalp with his clippers and using this rough old wooden brush every few seconds to brush my scalp. After around 4-6 minutes of him continuously scraping the same spot on my head I asked him if he could please stop doing that. He told me he has to keep doing it because I had a dark spot.All in all I was there for around 35 minutes, 30 of which was him repeatedly scraping my scalp until it was very raw and slightly swollen. The haircut was $15, and I tipped him $2 because he was kind and looked like he wanted to help. All in all its a decent little place. They were just way too rough with my scalp, and my hair has never been this short in my life. I will continue to go to fantastic Sams to get my hair cut. Sure its $3 more. But they have nice Asian women with soft hands who cut your hair gently.

While the barber was nice, he was unable to cut my hair satisfactorily. He tried, but doesnt have the skills to cut hair from all ethnicities.
