Great customer service, everyone is friendly and eager to assist. I have ordered several items for my new home and Ashley in the design center has been extremely helpful. Will continue to use these guys for my lumber (and other new home needs) and highly recommend them!

I sorta screwed myself when buying lumber here, but I wont be buying here again. I purchased three 10 ft boards of 1x8 S4S walnut, cherry, and maple. I asked how much for all three boards and they quoted me $41. 61. Im new to buying wood so I figured that was a normal price. I didnt check the receipt after Id paid (my fault) and I went home happy and excited to make stuff.It wasnt until a few days later that I found my receipt and saw theyd charged me $416.14 for three boards. These prices are far above the national average for wood and they dont post prices at the rack. Had I bought these boards anywhere else I would have paid far less. An example, I paid $21.60 a linear foot for the walnut. Thats about $32.40 a board foot. S2S online is $14.99 a board foot. I paid more than double to have two extra sides surfaces and sanded. My whole purchase should have costed less than $200.I cant speak for the rest of their merchandise, but if youre buying hardwood dont go here.Update: Brisco True Value in AG charges $11.99 a bd ft for walnut, $6.15 for maple, and $7.59 for cherry. My purchase there would have been approximately $171.53 before taxes and fees for the amount I purchased. I will be shopping there from now on.

This company has been around for years in the county...has your needs for everything construction...place to go to

Manager there is a joke (tall skinny guy). Utterly Disrespectful. Not sure how he holds that position when he treats customers like this. Wonder how he treats the employees.

Needed help with some items .Luckily the staff is very friendly. Especially the two young women in the front desk both very professional and helpful. Will keep coming back !

Went in today with my husband looking for some materials. Even though it was busy the young girl in the from was kind enough to look up prices for us. She was patient and when she couldn’t answer any of our questions she quickly asked someone else for advice . So we could get the answers we needed . Thank you Brenda ! And thank you Hayward for having such great customer service !

I always have great help in the yard from the yard guys. They are always quick to help me load up lumber, rebar or anything we need. Hayward lumber will always be my go to for all building materials.

They have everything you need and more. Its not home depot. Thank God. Helpful friendly staff assuming your not looking for some homeowner item like a mop or a throw rug. Dont live here but when on town Ill certainly be back

I needed some picture rail to complete some projects in my house. I really like it because I can re hang pictures easily without more holes in the wall. the used to stock it in San Luis Hayward but they dont anymore. So I was out of luck. So I called Santa Maria and sure enough they had it in stock and a lot of it so I could buy it cool. but thats a long ways away from Atascadero and I dont have a truck. Luckily I got hold of the GM down there and Darrell was very helpful. He not only would sell me what I needed, but he would put it on their truck and take it to San Luis so itd be so much easier for me to pick it up. This is very cool. Thats Saved Me 2 hours of driving and having to locate a truck to drive a long distance. Now couple that with a local friend who brought it from San Luis to my house and basically with just one or two phone calls I got free delivery and everything. I am most happy that Darrell was able to solve the problem and was very congenial about it and wow the price even dropped when I bought everything he had in stock. So hey this is the place. Go see Darryl he can make miracles. Definitely worthy of five stars and more.

Very helpful, from the guy behind the desk to the kid out in the yard. Its amazing how they can cram so many goods in such a small area. They seem to always have what I need. And the best part is that it has small town service with big box store prices. Very competitive.

Good selection. Lady at the desk was nice. However service in the yard is a joke. Me and my husband loaded all our baseboard and trim ourselves while 2 workers stood their smoking their cigarettes. Horrible service !

If you need wood Hayward is way faster and same price as home Depot. Hayward can operate a forklift with 1 person, Home Depot needs 1 operator and 2 flaggers and a clerk to call them 3 times.
