On January 25, 2018, we received a visit from two of your employees, Khal Hammoudeh and Jess Kile from your franchise in Savannah, Ga. My wife has been buying your vacuum cleaners for thirty-five years and her mother would only use your product. My wife had called on a promotion AERUS had and Jess was her contact. Jess brought along Khal, who as we found out was the “slick salesman”, and owner. Our house was still under construction since Hurricane Irma, and Khal immediately switched from the reason they were there for the promotion, to selling an air purifier for our home. I immediately said we were not interested, that we could not afford it, so Khal switched techniques and started showing pictures of his recently married daughter and going into his second marriage arranged by his mother. I was skeptical, but he talked my wife into writing a check for the unit, which was our first bad mistake; because if we had used a credit card, we would have disputed, the charge and I would not be writing this letter. Khal told my wife he would take our current vacuum cleaner in and do an overhaul on it and would bring it back on Friday. He said if we did not want the air purifier, he would give our check back. Khal went to their SUV and pulled out an air purifier. I was watching from the window. There was no box he removed from the SUV and we received no paperwork for the unit. I am guessing this was the demo unit. I asked Jess if it was new and she said yes, that Khal removed it from the box inside the SUV. We used the purifier for three days and we decided we were not going to keep it.Friday came and Khal did not show up with our vacuum cleaner that he was performing preventative maintenance on. I kept telling my wife; “not only did he rip us off for this air purifier, but also he stole our vacuum cleaner.” He eventually returned our vacuum cleaner the next week and said we were now past the cancel return date for the air purifier, but as soon as he sold another one, he would give us our money back. Of course, that never happened. Khal said the reason he did not come back on Friday was that he was admitted to the hospital which we found out from the Savannah branch was not true, that he went for some tests, but was not admitted to the hospital. This sales representative said Khal sells this air purifier all the time and he is a man of his word and would return our check and pick up the unit. The contract does say we had three business days’ to cancel, but since Khal would not answer his phone and brought it back the next week, we were past the three days. The sales agreement said we were to receive a box bag, a hose, three HEPP filters and a box of filters. Only the hose we received when he brought our vacuum cleaner back. We did not get the box of filters, the box bag or the three HEPP filters (Khal said they were $100.00 each if you can believe that) so AERUS did not honor the sales agreement. He did do an “overhaul” on our vacuum cleaner, but it came back with the “bag release” button broken and we had to purchase another release latch so we could use our vacuum cleaner.
