Im not sure who I was dealing with there, forgot to ask his name, but such a nice guy! Helped me out with my old bike, made it a super simple drop off and pick up and was so quick and friendly! Highly recommend.
Dale was so kind and professional. He provided excellent recommendations to addressing two used bike that I brought in and had them fixed and tuned up the next day. I cant say enough great things about my experience with this business. Thank you and it is so wonderful to have this service and bike retails so close to White Center.
The guy who runs the store, is amazing. If you need help with bike in the area theyre in, theyre worth quite a bit of a trip. The bike frame selection is quite wide and varied! Dont be put off by any mess; any bike shop that packed is done so out of love and care for bikes.
We stopped in to inquire about a recumbent trike. He asked what specific things we wanted in the trike. He then had my wife (the trike is for her) test ride a trike he thought would be close to what she wanted. She liked it. He then brought out a new one still in the shipping box. He took it out to show her the color and explained the minor differences to the one she road. She liked it. He assembled it and we picked it up the next day. She now rides a TerraTrike Rambler.
Spend some quality time with the owner Dale. He is very knowledgeable and very helpful and patient and explaining the differences between recumbent bikes and regular bikes. I intend to purchase from his store. I assume there will be a similarly high level of service.
Dale who I believe is the owner operates this shop like you would hope every business owner would. He has figured out what was wrong with my whacky rear derailleur two different times and repaired a broken spoke problem with ease. Id go 10x as far to work with Angle Lake any day.
Bought a recumbent trike from Dale 10 years ago at his Angle Lake location, then bought a recumbent E-trike a couple of weeks ago at his new White Center location. He still does a lot of work on his sidewalk and his new shop still looks like disaster area but thats part of his cachet! We highly recommend him for anything recumbent because of his outstanding customer focus and expertise.
If you have an older or newer trike, this guy knows all about it. He is very knowledgeable and his pricing is fair.
One of the best Bicycle knowledgeable tech in the area.
Very knowledgeable and honest. His prices are very reasonable
Dale is the encyclopedia of bikes and in particular trikes. I love him. He sold me my really nice ride 9 years ago. Taught me everything about it. Let me ride it for 3 days before buying it. He is an angle. I love his very authentic and nerdy shop. Wish you all the best Dale. My beautiful HPVelo is still as great as the time you sold it to me. Yours truly, Zack
Guy was super nice and helped me get what I wanted. Even helped give my boyfriend a few ideas on what he might want/need out of a bike. The store was messy though and hard to navigate though. Im not sure well be back but if you need something quick like a pump or tube then youre in a good spot.
They are very helpful and knowledgeable about what your bike needs (or doesnt need!).
Great. My mountain bike had me riding in the Superman pose. They put on a new adjustable stem that makes the bike way more comfortable too ride.
Ive done business with the owner for over a decade. He is very professional, has awesome customer service, always available and very quick to repair anything including wheelchair wheels/tires/etc. Also fixed a hand cycle of mine, very impressive. I will always go to this shop.
Its a one man show and hes incredible. Great place for bicycle repairs, tune ups or purchase!
Dale has a unique blend of brilliance, knowledge, passion and humanity way above and beyond the person you expect to meet when you go to a bicycle store. When I have a chance to got to his shop I am looking forward to the conversations and stories that accompany the experience of getting bicycles or service.I enthusiastically recommend his store and services.
SOMEONE HELP THIS GUY! I went by while I was out for a walk, because the place was relatively near my hotel. I couldn’t believe how messy the place was. This guy definitely has a hoarding problem. From the sound of it he seems to be knowledgeable and very nice to people for the most part. But he needs a hand. Something happened in his life to cause him to hoard all this stuff. He needs to take to the recycler anything can’t make him money right away. And then get organized. Otherwise he’s gonna lose his store. And I hate to see anybody lose their business. I’ll say a prayer for him. You should too.
Yes - the place is a mess. But Dale has an outstanding inventory of new and used recumbent bikes (at good prices). If youre considering a recumbent bike - go here first.
Good first experience. Less than 20 dollars with labor to replace an inner tube on my mountain bike. Good place for repairs, or if you are seeking a new bike. Wide variety of bikes to choose from. If the shop is not busy the owner is able to make the repair on the spot. But note that he can be busy at times and you may have to drop off your repair and pick up at a later time. I would recommend this shop and will return with any of my bike needs.
I love this guy. Dale was the only bike shop within hours of Seattle who was willing (able?) to rent a recumbent trike. My mom flew out from the east coast to visit. At 76, she was afraid to ride a regular bicycle after a fall 4 years ago. We did a ride together that gave her a feeling of freedom she thought shed lost for good. Cant thank Dale enough. The dude is super knowledgeable and his pricing was practically a gift. That may have been his way to forge a new customer, but the guy knows how to get loyal business. Favorite bike shop ever, I think.
Good service
If you are even slightly ocd stay away, otherwise you couldn’t find a better place to learn about, locate, and purchase a recumbent bike/trike. Wonderful owner who is knowledgeable, interesting, and fair.
Went looking for a used recumbent trike. I talked with Dale for about an hour... we figured out what I needed, i paid him a deposit for it. He will deliver it when I sent him the rest of the money No worries, beautiful transaction and lots of good stories you all are missing a lot of knowledge. You are missing out on a great source of information if you dont go meet with Dale.I absolutely had a great time talking with.
Dale is very knowledgable about recumbent trikes & bikes
This bike shop is no longer located on Pac Highway in DesMoines. Its on 16thSW in White Center
So, I read a lot of the reviews on Google before i went here and Im going to have to disagree with a lot of the negative ones. I came here to purchase a recumbent bike, i was looking for a long wheel base 2 wheel below bar steering. I had ridden a friends and loved it. Turns out that is a rare style and isnt easy to come by, but it was a long drive so i figured i would ride a few other styles. Dale was incredibly helpful, even though his shop looks like a bomb went off after a hurricane and and earthquake hit, he will bring out any bike to ride, he carried out quite a few bikes for me that day. He gave me honest opinions and asked what i wanted to do with the bike and gave me some suggestions. But nothing was high pressure and he wasnt being pushy about anything in particular. Finally i found a trike i loved, the catrike 700, i rode it around and it was exactly what i wanted! I had an old recumbent that i didnt like so i wanted to trade it in, i was working with a limited budget and we came to a very good deal. I said i would need to think about it and he told me no problem take my time. So a week later i returned and said i would like to do the deal, he did not try to change the deal or milk me for any more money, he even left on some very expensive parts (hundreds of dollars) that he didnt notice were on the bike at the time of our original agreement, but because we made the deal he honored it! If nothing else, Dale is a man of his word! And he is not rude, hes honest and blunt, if your personality cant handle that then grow a spine. I support and recommend this business to anyone.
I have been going to Angle Lake Cyclery for too years and l was always well taken care of. He took good care of my bike. Good people, and good work.. Thank You.
Friendly and very knowledgeable owner. He is relocating to White Center and I will be following him there!
Its true the store does look like a hurricane swept through; it always looks like that. However the owner is friendly, knowledgeable and has great deals on the many, many bikes he sells. He also services all types of bicycles and has a great variety of recumbents and some regular bikes for sale.
This is by far the most interesting bicycle shop Ive ever been to. The owner (dale ) seems to love his work and very knowledgeable. If you are in a hurry, youll need to take a deep breath as its a one man shop usually, and hes busy. The variety of bikes is amazing. I love just walking around and exploring. Its worth a visit. I recommend it.
Really nice staff member. But... We went there 2 days ago, and we wanted to order a part for my bike, He said to come pick it up late Monday afternoon, so we did... And when we got there A sign was posted on the door, that said we will be closed for 2 days until this day so I was bummed, that we have to wait now, I couldve just ordered the part online, but the owner seems very trust worthy and the part was priced well, so i will wait the 2 days.
Honest business. Hard working professional owner takes special interest in each person he helps. Charges very reasonably. I will go here for all my biking needs and will remember this Cyclery for any purchase. Thank you for the great experience and excellent repairs.
Similar to other reviews, PLEASE do not go to the shop. Very knowledgeable person and I have no doubt performs great work however walking through the door (if you can get in) resembles an A&E Horaders style room. 0” to walk or see any inventory, bikes are assembled in the parking lot, and although there’s nice stuff on the walls, you can see it but can’t get to it. Told me weeks ago they were in the middle of a Reno but other reviews seem to point to a larger problem. One weekend of a 40yd dumpster and a team of volunteers can refresh this awesome shop to an actual shop/store and not a hoard.
Took my bike in to get checked out after sitting in my garage for way too long. Dale had it ready in 24 hours, all checked out and ready to go. The prices are definitely competitive. Thanks, Dale! Great service.
Yes, the shop appears chaotic when first encountered and yes there is an amazing amount of stuff strewn all over the floor. But, the important thing is Dale, the owner, knows his stuff and knows his inventory and knows where to find whatever it is you want. He is busy and a visit there takes time, but it is worth taking it just to explore the myriad unusual bikes and trikes he has tucked into every nook and cranny of the shop. I bought an Ice Sprint and enjoyed the process of buying it and have been delighted with the result.
Nice guy but probably wont go back, the shop is a mess and cant even walk thru the door without falling over stuff. As for the prices he tried to charge me $7 for a rear brake cable that I assumed he picked up off the floor somewhere, not saying everything is gonna be this pricey but that just added to the reasons for me to not come back.
Prices are crazy competitive. He gave me an expensive helmet for a low price. He has my business for life.
Michael B., Google Einstein desk photoI first visited Angle Lake Cyclery a year ago, let the owner know I was not buying a new bike, but was looking for advice. He went out of his way to go over the many options I had when looking for a used bike. He earned my business, and now takes care of all my maintenance needs.
Yes the place looks like a tornado went through it but you can move around with a fantastic selection of bicycles and parts. I would recommend buying from them.
Fantastic customer service. I was helped immediately even though they were technically closed. It is a large, well stocked retailer specializing in Trek and calls itself recumbent central. Bonus: its the closest shop to the Angle Lake light-rail station.
Ok, first off, yes - the store is an absolute mess. But dont let that put you off, the owner is incredibly knowledgeable and fair in his pricing, though you should be prepared for some mild eccentricity. This is an honest establishment and absolutely worthy of your business, highly recommended.
Great shop help me more then another shop ever
Good customer service! I had my bikes hydraulic brake replaced very quickly!
The owner is very nice and knowledgeable but he seriously needs an intervention about the state of his shop. When I stopped in there was such a mess I couldn’t get to the front door. He said he was remodeling and brought me a bike to demo. I liked the bike but wanted a higher spec of the same model, he said to look at the manufacturers website and come back in a few days. I returned a week later to order the bike and nothing had changed. The store was still too cluttered to enter and there were boxes, tubes, spokes and other various garbage littering the sidewalk to the entrance. I decided to source the bike elsewhere.
Awsome. All my questions answered in a way I could understand. Dale is the kind of person I like to deal with. Very knowledgeable and no BS.
Very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Answered all my questions, let me try out some trikes in the large parking lot. No hard sales pressure. Very positive experience. I wish they were closer to where I live.
I love bikes, they are my life, so to the people who say this feels like a real bike shop well I can see some of your point. But I am also a neat freak that worked in a bike shop before. This place almost gave me a seizure. It is the most messy business I have ever walked into to. Yes they had what I needed. But I would not make the drive to go there again.
Bought a high end recumbent trike from Dale complete with a battery and lots of extras. He is definitely knowledgeable about his inventory and does a great job with sales. I assure you that once you hand him your money he is done with you. The way he installed the battery is as messy as his shop, with wires hanging everywhere. Ive had a ton of problems. This guy absolutely offers ZERO customer service - Im a disabled widow having a miserable experience and have taken my trike elsewhere (and paid a lot of money even though its supposedly under warranty) to get Dales messy work fixed. Beware.
Get store walked up owner talked with me as he fixed my bike it was cheaper then I thought. Even offered some good life advice. The shop is a little messy but as long as I can get the service needed which I did who cares
Awesome service! Best wrench in the north west.
Too bad they guy couldn’t clean up his shop. Bought some bikes here years ago but was disappointed that his shop was a pile of bikes for almost a whole year. Degrees me from shopping there. I think they are out of business now.
This guy knows his stuff, also please be patient with him, its a one man shop right now, an we highly recomend Angle Lake cyclery
We stopped to look at recumbent bikes and received a great overview of things to consider. We will return at another time to do some test riding.
He is a nice guy and got my bike going.
Went to the shop to get my tires replaced. Got in and the first impression is the place is a mess, parts everywhere and had to go through a maze just to get to the counter. He took a week to get my tires replaced. Then when I rode it, I found the tires were flat. Went to a different bike shop and they tell me the new tires that were just installed arent available for order on the website meaning this guy was using old inventory from who knows when. Not cool. That could explain the holes found in the tire. Not going back after my experience.
ZERO STAR I went there with my son to check the bikes. The guy was so rude. He completely ignored us. Poor customer service. Inside the shop was big mess card boards all over. We just walked away and went straight to University District to get our bike. Dont bother to visit this shop. You will waste your time.
They go many steps further to make sure that they did their very best.I purchased a rans XP and am very happy with the bike.
The employees there are very helpful and have a positive attitude. The only thing that I dislike is the cluttered floor. This review is based on a visit during the month of June.
The guy who runs the shop is super helpful -- I arrived near closing time with a wierd problem on my old Vision recumbent. He helped out right away and figured out a fix -- using a part scavenged from the huge, disorderly pile of all sorts of bikes he has in his shop. When I first approached the shop -- I couldnt figure out where to get in -- the entrance looked blocked -- but I tried the door and it opened -- I had to walk on piles of old tires on the floor. The shop would be a good canidate for the TV show hoarders -- he had sever very cool recombent bikes being assembled -- in the parking spaces in from of the shop -- because there was no room in the shop!!! I dont know how he manages to stay in business with the clutter in the shop -- or how he keeps all the bikes parked outside the shop from being stolen -- maybe he lives in the shop? The guy must simply be someone that just loves working on bikes.
I went only once over a year ago and I was immediately confused by the several empty cardboard boxes and bikes obstructing the entrance; it actually felt dangerous to walk in, so I yelled hello into the shop to see if anyone was there but no one came out.I then noticed that the entire shop was totally disorganized and probably wasnt meant to walk in to shop.To this day I still pass by the shop and it looks tossed up.
Super nice guys. Store was an absolute mess. Satisfied with my purchase.
Super helpful expert knowledge thanks Dale!
Even with the shop currently torn up for remodel the customer comes first. Highly recommended!
I love this store. Yeah...it looks like someone opened all the parts boxes and dumped them on the floor following the biggest earthquake eveh, and it can be challenging to get the proprietors time, but once you do.... Hes an honest and helpful person with a world of practical experience (esp recumbents and trikes). Prices are competitive for what he sells (i.e. recumbents generally cost more). I dont feel like Im going to the store there...its more like visiting your buddy in his garage where the place is overflowing with unique finds and knowledge...its always fun...just tread carefully down the isles. Yep...thats my store.
I just bought a beautiful Bacchetta Bellandare here and I am just thrilled with it-- and was very pleased with the service I received. Much has been said about the apparent disorder around the shop, but, cmon, theres just one guy and people drop in constantly and he manages to take care of them all. I did the standard loop-around-the-parking-lot test ride and really liked the bike, but knew I needed to see if I could handle it on hills. He was happy to direct me to a rather impressive one just around the corner which was just rugged enough to reveal that an adjustment to the RD was in order. He took care of it on the spot and tweaked until I was 110% happy with that drivetrain. All of the accessories were installed while I waited which is unusual at a bike shop this close to the STP. I drove away very happy with my beautiful new bike.
Aarrgghh!!!! Couldnt get in the door...so much bike parts and tools layin around.
Dale is a wizard with trikes. Like most geniuses, he is a little frazzled, but he knows where he left his tools. I have asked for his help twice and both times my trik was back on the road in record time.
Ordered a bike, he said it would take a week to get here. Wrong, it has now beeen two weeks and I am still waiting.
Very Knowledgeable about Recumbents.
Absolute mess. Super nice guy.
He tuned my bike up in a matter of seconds!
If you need to bring your bike somewhere to get fixed, this is the place to go.
Great place friendly and knowledge
Good cycle shop
