Came in for a brake adjustment/pad replacement last week, super experienced team and fair prices brought me back to buy some bike locks. The bike lock I purchased had some issues with the factory code and they immediately swapped it out for a new one.Great customer service & cool people make for an awesome bike shop experience. This is my go to place for all things bicycles.
All around great bike shop! Ben is always helpful and the mechanics are quick and very skilled!Ben is a master wheel builder and provides above and beyond services for your bike needs. He is very honest and will give it to you straight. All the services are incredibly affordable. Thats why I recommend all my friends to visit his shop!
Had an enjoyable ride in Seattle because this bicycle shop rocks! Chain shortly broke on a bike that I rented for the day to ride in Seattle after getting off the ferry from the peninsula. Rather than call it a day I gave them a call. Took me right in as soon as I got there and made sure the chain was repairable rather than needing replacement. Huge thanks to Rowan(did all the work), Ben, and Cooper for the emergency repair and fantastic customer service! A real cool bicycle shop, with a chill atmosphere, and literal back alley vibe(Because it’s actually in the back alley!) that you can depend on if you happen to run into issues with your bicycle. Highly recommended!
Friendly folks and responded quick over email. Loved the well-maintained vintage MTB, perfect for cruising around. Would definitely rent from them again!
The person who helped me today provided super fast service and was extremely efficient in fixing my brake at a very affordable price! Its nice to know that theres a place near downtown that actually cares about their customers. Thanks, Back Alley Bike Repair!
Ben coordinated with my wife to execute the most wonderful birthday gift of my life. The level of service he offered was second to none!! I’m extremely blown away at the quality of his work, and will definitely be back soon. Thank you to the whole crew at Back Alley Bike Repair!!
Great shop, great people, great value. Thanks!
Stopped in for a quick brake adjustment, they were very helpful, quick, and reasonably priced. Great stop.
Great people, great shop. Highly recommended.
Excellent service and they dont talk down to you even if you dont know everything about bikes. They built a gorgeous Soma Fog Cutter bike for me this summer and it was a great experience. They helped me find the best parts and were patient in answering a multitude of questions. Highly recommend this shop for a bike build and/or any repairs.
These folks are always helpful and respectful, regardless of your needs or experience level. That goes for a quick bolt replacement or a more involved tuneup or repair. I go out of my way to bring my bike here, thats how good their customer service is.
Top notch crew! These guys deserve to be THE ONLY one in Seattle ! : )
Was in a super tight spot regarding a bike service and called all around and no body could fit me in or know how to help. I called Ben and he instantly said yeah bring it in. Backstory: I was heading out for a bikepacking trip later that day. Ben fixed my hydraulic brakes and did a few other things to make my ride safer. Cant thank those guys enough for getting me in, given my situation. Will be my new go to in Seattle. Thanks again guys!
The owner is really rude and loves to make fun of your bike if its not worth at least $2000. Everything here is overpriced and you cant get any help without a healthy size side of stuck up. The latest time the owner said something about guys who come and only buy inner tubes to me. He doesnt know his shop sucks so bad I only go there if I have to because I got a flat while in the neighborhood and Im out of inner tubes.
Went there to get new fork cut, the guy who did the work took proud in it and did an excellent job. I would definitely go here for future needs.
Randomly broke a pedal while half way from one end of Seattle to the other. Fixed me up and even gave me a light tune up.Some of the best service Ive received in Seattle. Friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Thank you!
My bike had issues after collision and I had to take it to the shop multiple times during last weeks. Ben and his team did an amazing job! Great quality, fast service and fair prices. I am very satisfied! Thank you guys!!!
Didnt have enough for my part but they still help me out anyways thank you
These guys are simply great. Always happy to help and offer expert advice. Took my bike in for a loose hub at 9AM and they had it back to me by 1PM. Not gonna get that all the time or anywhere else. Cheers!
One of the coolest shops in Seattle. Very friendly, knowledgeable and unpretentious. Straightforward and reasonable pricing and willing to work with people until satisfied. Frequent visitor, no complaints! A great place for commuters and recreational riders looking for a shop upgrade.
These guys are amazing, every single time. I would trust Ben & Julian with my firstborn child (which is kind of how I feel about my bicycle). They always take great care of me and remind me why love biking, even on those days stuff is just falling apart. They helped me tune up, upgrade, and make the most of my old single-speed as well as to keep my road bike running fresh. Always quick, high quality care at a fair price – exactly the kind of small businesses Pioneer Square needs. Give Back Alley some love – theyll love you (and your bike) right back!
Great crew of real bike lovers and insightful mechanics.
Got a flat in our stroller tire and they got us in, fixed right away and little Jimmy was thrilled to be back on the road. Also had awesome orange pedals to match my bike in stock
Great service. Quick turnaround.
I was nearby when I noticed my motorcycles rear tire was flat. I didnt want to get a tow and I was worried about even looking for the nearest gas station with air without damaging my rim. Thankfully, these guys have a small compressor they were able to bring to the door to reach my bike. Made it work even without the proper nozzle attachment. Super grateful for their assistance despite it being near the end of the workday with customers in the shop.I work in the area and see a lot of people come here. So Im guessing they are pretty good with bicycles too 😆
A Hidden Treasure in Pioneer Square. Great vibe, top-notch service, fair prices. Followed Bens recommendations and my bike is like butter now. I smile every time I jump on to ride.
I love this shop - have been coming here for a couple years and have had a positive experience each time. No pretentious bro vibes and they always take good care of my bike for a competitive price.
Good quick service
Very good customer service, and give me honest advices by considering my situation and concerns to save my money from the pocket. And show and explain items one by one. Further, he (Ben, the owner) shows me every step with tips during my flat tire(tube) replacement that I can consider to do it on my own with tools or go to the store in the future. I would definitely recommend others to visit whenever you need something related to bike.
The guys there are great.
Ive stoped in every now and then for basic repair supplied (cables, chain lube, etc.) and always found the staff friendly and helpful. At my recent visit I also noticed they are getting a lot more parts and accessories in stock. This shop is a great resource for bike commuters in the downtown area!
A great bike shop whose mechanics are observant, diligent, and dont fix what doesnt need fixing.
I dropped off my road bike to diagnose a creak near the handlebars that I couldnt fix myself. The guys at Back Alley disassembled by bottom bracket, pedals, and headset...lubed everything up and put it back together. If you bike to work downtown, this is the place to get a fix during the work week.Fast turn around and great recommendations on other maintenance I need to perform. Highly recommended.
Got me rolling in just a few minutes!
I was visiting from out of town and needed spds for my shoes. They were great!
Cool bike shop in the Alley. They were able to fix a shifting issue I was having in a few minutes and I was on my way.
I LOOOOOOVE Back Alley. Ben is super patient and friendly and has great advice. He and Julian helped me trick out an old steel bike with beautiful new parts to refresh it for my husband, have put up with my impatient toddler running around their shop and ringing the hamburger bell while I wait, repaired my super worn out Campy shifters, and Ben entertains my long email exchanges about fantasy new bikes (that theyre not even selling to me!). They are a great downtown bike repair place in a sweet location with a chill vibe. I might move in. Go here! Be nice to these guys, theyre great (and dont talk down to women!).
Top notch customer service and expertise.
Rented a bike for a week to commute between Pioneer Square and UW. They were good and helpful and making sure I was set up well on the bike; they fit a rack on for the panniers I had brought with me. Good service, good atmosphere. The bike was fun and a well-chosen steel racing frame suitable commuting. If you need bike service in Pioneer Square, definitely check this store out.
These two dudes have a great knowledge of bicycles and a great rep in the bike industry. They can do it all from keeping commuters on the roads to special ordering that particular part you need.Plus they have a great space and location. Dont forget to tip these fellas.
Use to go here a lot, they used to be good, traded weed for repairs. then they started to slack off doing bad jobs on repairs. the final two straws, they custom made a rear wheel shortly after not smoothly gliding so I took it to another bike shop and ally bike shop put to many barrings in axle and that why it wasnt riding smoothly. worse yet, they didnt even use the axle I gave them! they replaced it with a cheaper one that didnt have a logo on it! What I think they did this is a trek brand I didn’t think about it’s a special cut they probably would’ve swapped it out with a different rim altogether because it was taken way too long for this order to be done. They should’ve called me and said it couldn’t be done but the owner said we can customize the cut to any link when I dropped it off! if that was the truth why was there a different Back axle with no name on it, a generic with no label?
Great friendly service and good advice. My go to bike shop for the past decade.
Two shops quoted me 9 days to replace 2 spokes and tune my shifting. These guys got it done and had me back on the road in less than 24 hours! Super friendly, will be back!
Great little shop. Super friendly, knowledgable and had me back on the road from a flat in under 20m. Will stop again!
Someone stole my bike seat while I was at a meeting downtown went to these guys and they fixed it quick without costing me an arm and a leg so great to know the shop is downtown!
Back Alley is good action. Good customer service, nice relevant parts and accessories, helpful and patient. Thank you!
I had a flat tire on my fat bike, didnt expect them to have a tube in stock, figured Id just get it patched. Turns out, they actually had a 26x4 tube stocked! Great service, quick repair, even tightened my headset - Ben, Julian, if you guys are ever in Portland, come by my shop, Western BikeWorks, youve got a pint on the house.
Amazing people who go above and beyond expectations! Will definitely go back for future repairs.
The staff here at this *phenomenal* shop are incredibly passionate and will make your friggin dreams come true.
I had an unfortunate run in with the trolly tracks and, spoiler alert, the trolly tracks won. I was then left with damaged SRAM shifters/brake levers that needed to be replaced...along with rage at those damn trolleys. They not only had the shifters/brake levers available in the shop, but they gave me a great deal and installed them within mere hours. I cannot believe how quick, professional, helpful, and just awesome my experience was at Back Alley Bike Repair. With its proximity to my work, central location, good shop, great people, and quick turn around I will happily be bringing my bicycle back in when I inevitably lose again to the trolly tracks, or any repair.Im coming for you tracks! Next time youre going down...not me.
I was riding with a problem, looking for a solution. I dropped in on the guys at Bike Alley Bikes, and they fixed a puzzling problem with my nonfunctional TRP HyRd front disc brake. They fit me in and got me on my way within an hour. That was a very good thing as I had ten miles yet to go that day. Not only was the repair effective, but the mechanic patiently explained what had gone wrong and how to avoid the problem in the future.
Got some things with my bike sorted for a good price with some great advice to boot.
Wonderful customer service and a great location. Definately take your bike here for repairs or upgrades!!
I would NEVER go to them again. They are a SCAM shop. I went tothem to get a new back- wheel after, having mine stolen and ran intomore unsrupulous people. They told me it would cost me 100 dollarsfor a new wheel, tire, tube and, gears. I came back a week and halflater and, found a rinky dink tire on a supposedly new wheel. I hadhim change it and, then he tried to charge me 207 dollars!!!!. Theyare indeed a shop good people should AVOID!!!!. Its the old case ofthe shadey mechanic takes advantage of the in need customer. Ishould never have bought my bike to these bottom feeders!!!!
Super awesome shop. Nice guys and fast service.
Nice place. I took a spill and messed up my derailer. luckly i was a block away from this place. It was closing time, but they fixed my bike in 20mn and I was on my way.
Best bike service you can find. Great guys and great shop.
Excellent, friendly service.
As advertised. Ben and David are serious experts for all things bike-related. Went in for a bent rear derailleur and brake adjustment; Ben had it done within the hour. Wont find the level of service and quality that Back Alley has just anywhere.
Great service, above and beyond whats expected.
Worst bike shop ever would not recommend anybody go there
Good spot and very friendly
I needed a broken spoke fixed, and they did it in 20 minutes. Wow!
