Great record store with an expansive collection - the largest Ive seen in Seattle. They had a healthy amount of representation across genres like rap, country, punk, pop etc. I went looking for three recent records (2 rap, 1 country) and they had both available and were easy to find. The staff is polite and helpful too. The interior feels industrial and bare bones, essentially a tiny warehouse filled with records and movies. The prices are similar to what you would find online. I recommend coming here to look for your records!
Leaving the review now so that hopefully the new store, “Almost Everyday”, will have a better vibe. I attended this shop regularly in the 4 years I lived in Seattle. There was never a welcoming vibe. No chatting about the records you are purchasing, no customer interaction; it just never felt like anyone cared. I think it is a privilege to be able to work at a record store, and to be an important part of the music community. This shop never bolstered newer artists albums, never had in store performances, and was rarely involved in any promo for new releases. It doesn’t surprise me that they are closing, as they could never seem to carry many new albums on release day, even major label ones. When I brought records into trade, the said they pay 30% of their value, which was THE LOWEST rate in the city, and thats in trade value, not cash. Sonic Boom, Easy Street, Silver Platters, and especially Light in The Attic, all give you 50% to 60%, which is very fair. The only saving grace in my experience was finding OOP Light In The Attic pressings for very cheap. However, that became rare two years ago.In the current era of running and owning a record store, the only way you can survive is by providing a service that streaming platforms cannot. You must be an active part of the music community, fostering interest in releases that need attention, and providing people with recommendations based on their purchases. Everyone loves to be shown something new.I truly wish you all well, and do hope the new store flourishes, as the more record stores the better. I hope this feedback reaches Hans, as I understand you are responsible for the new store.
I love shopping at this record store... there is always an abundant selection of treasures and in the new arrivals, you will always find amazing records. The employee suggestions are always great too- and I love the way they display the most exciting new arrivals on the walls. I moved to Chicago, but one of the things I miss most about Seattle is Everyday Music.
Why does it have to go away? What a blow. Another bit of capitol hill history leaves us. You will be missed. But as long as they are leaving, I anticipate more sales and deeper discounts! But all the discounts in the world wont make up for the awesome finds over the 20+ years Ive been shopping there
I’ve been in hundreds of record stores across the country and the world. EM places in the lower 10%. It is a chain with previously 3 outlets (now 2) in the Portland area. All of the stores share similar flaws. Amoeba (Berkeley, SF, LA) has a similar vibe for me. It feels like the employee staff (or someone) siphons the best used records before they get to the floor. That and a culture of lack of service to customers (think Jack Black in Hi Fidelity) are consistent features. Rudeness and lack of interest flourish. I have gone to the Seattle store many times - they do seem to get a steady supply of local pressings, and prices are reasonable - but it is more of a chore than it should be. The downtown Portland store lacks a good collection of used vinyl. The Sandy store is similar to Seattle. The Beaverton store was my favorite but is now closed. The Seattle store is closing soon. I’m not celebrating that, but I won’t miss it greatly and I suspect that had they worked more on their shopping environment, things might have turned out differently
Great place, great selection, great prices. Staff is fairly typical record store hipsters but that never bothered me. Actually I expect it & like it. Theyre helpful if you ask. It has it all including vinyl & video for very good prices. Its retro without trying. Its a good old school style record store with a lot of hard to find & obscure music & labels.
Not particularly helpful, didnt have either record I was looking for. Ended up calling Easy Street... They had dozens of copies. Wont go back. Distinctly reminded me of scarecrow video, if its too mainstream probably wont have it. Or at the least youll be judged.
Great place to sell your Records, fair price and friendly staff.
I went here on my birthday 2-19-21 and I wanted to shop but I was with a couple of people, The store was at capacity so we waited outside and he said 3 people could go in but I wanted to wait till everyone could go in so no one was outside by themselves, which we are all around 16 and Seattle can be dangerous especially where the store is located and the worker snapped at me and was very rude, I’m a nice person and truly affected me and I didn’t get to go in, he ruined my 16th birthday
Great shop. Huge selection. Unfortunately, all of the EM stores are closing in May.
Very large selection.will most likely have what you are looking for.new and used.plan to spend some time here.support all of your local record stores!!!
I love Everyday. Super well curated and amazingly knowledgeable staff. They have what tou are looking for.
Good selection. Closing soon hurry
Great spot, employees were nice and extremely knowledgeable.
Nice large collection but not crowded. Good vibe
Their hours are 11 to 6. Idk why they wont change it on maps.
Very cool atmosphere (was once a garage) Great vinyl and decent pricing for the music.
Great job on social distancing and capacity limits.
Plenty of space to shop, good selection, good prices, and pleasant staff. Ill be back...
Not just music! There are dvds, collectibles, etc. One can easily spend an hour browsing this huge store (Dont let the small doorway fool you). Found classic Planet of the Apes and the entire Jurassic Park/ World sets here at a great price! Usually 60% markdown on a used item compared to buying that same item new online. Win win.
You never know what youre going to find here. Ive definitely added some rare vinyl to my collection from this spot. Great location, nice staff, 5/5 stars as a crate diggin spot
Great collection, though the quality in prices varied. There many steals, but also some way overpriced records. All in all a great store!
Affordable and lots of selection of music and dvds
Great selection and prices! ❤️
Great selection and they don’t price gouge you. Used vinyl is reasonably priced.
Saw a record here once lol!
Really good place to buy vinyl. Wharehouse atmosphere with ancient wood flooring. If you dont find what your looking for in the bins, check underneath. They may have 10 copies of the same title hidden under there. Great variety and fair prices. I mustve liked it because I stayed for over 2 hours, hence my parking ticket...
Solid selection of mode everything. Their record buying process feels very deceptive at times. Being told they had no use for multiple records only to see them for sale for 10x the price they gave and listing the rarity of it (which I had tried to tell them about). Wont sell records there again but Ill buy used records there. Spin Cycle is much better for hiphop selection and used records but this is a little closer.
Huge place with some exceptional finds, even some downright steals you certainly wont find at any other run-of-the-mill store. Highly recommended if you are in the area!
Wonderful record store with a HUGE selection. Great spot to grab the latest and often rare(r) vinyl.
I love this place, its nothing fancy, but am admittedly biased towards any record store. This has a good sized selection of both new and used vinyl with a bin in the front featuring new used arrivals within the last week and a bin featuring smaller label releases such as Soundways or Light in the Attic. Its a pretty big store so I imagine theres other media as well, like CDs and DVDs, but I only have eyes for vinyl. It also has listening stations. With constantly rotating stock, I always find something I need.
Great record store! New and used. LPs and CDs. Support local bands like Happy Medium as well.
ALWAYS LOVE WALKING IN THE PLACE SOMEONE ALWAYS GREETS YOU AND OFF YOU GO LOOKING FOR THAT RARE LIVE WHITNEY SINGING OR ICE CUBES GREATEST HITS CD
I could spend hours in here. Love the selection and theres always new stuff coming in the door. All their fresh items get displayed near the front, so you could come in every day and see something new.
I always find something I never knew was missing from my vinyl collection in this place. Staff is somewhat unconcerned there are actual customers in the store and Im not sure Ive ever seen them actually assist a customer beyond checking them out. Then again I shop their for the pretty large vinyl selection not the staff picks or opinions on what I plan to buy.
Prices are fair enough, and they usually have good picks. lots and lots of potential for crate digging too, especially among the older house records
Great space for music! We saw SassyBlack performing there. Really enjoyed the show!!
Love this record store. Great place
Good prices on used music, and very extensive selection of vinyl.
Friendly, affordable, amazing selection; what more can you ask for in a record shop?? I picked up 3 CDs and 2 DVDs for under $20, if I had bought the same on iTunes it wouldve been closer to $50. Seriously love this place, and love supporting a local small business :)
Youll always find something interesting here, no matter your musical tastes.
Great shop to buy & sell vinyl & CDs.Expand your musical horizons
Good prices and selection
The prices of the records were decent and they had live entertainment because of record store day.
Do you like to hear things that are good? Have you heard music at least once in your lifetime and said to yourself I liked that, where can I find more of that thing with the sounds and the stuff? Go here. Preferably today and almost certainly right now. This is what a record store is meant to be. Tons of vinyl, CDs, tapes, even some VHS here and there. Check it out. Or dont, its your life.
Fairly organized by genres, huge variety of music (both CDs and Vinyls), large wall filled with DVDs/Blu-Rays including movies + TV shows for both children + adults. Great prices, quiet but friendly service. Limited parking, fairly easy to find using GPS. Fun little find on our short trip to Seattle.
Love every trip, I always find more then I was looking for. Its the best.
Excellent selection of music- you can spend a couple of hours in the store easily!
Been shopping here for 20 years always walk out with something
Massive selection of music. Nice worn down floorboards of a long lasting building. Staff was nice area easy to find
I took my wish list here on my birthday, the list Ibe been updating for almost thirty years. I ended up with 13 CDs from my list, three of them new (not used) for under 60 bucks, including tax. I must have found and put back more than 40 others. Great store.
I love their sale - 25 cents for 5 single 7s, and the 6th is free!!
Sweet music spot. Really surprised to find this and enjoyed it so much. Lots of music and vinyls
Unreliable, bad business! I contacted Everyday Music in June to sell my music and video collection because their website says they sometimes do house-calls to buy large collections. When I called the store, I was told they dont actually do that at all in Seattle, but I could contact the owner to ask. I did. He said hed do it the next time he was in town. We set up a time in mid-July which he then changed to late-July and he ultimately cancelled because of personal matters. OK. We set up a new time for today. He writes me on Wednesday to say hes not coming and to just take my stuff to the store. I offered to do that if he made the housecall to review the stuff and make the deal. He has become unresponsive to e-mail or texts and never showed. After agreeing to a particular business transaction and making me wait through multiple reschedulings, he just punted me right back to where I started. Ive never been in the store, but if this is how the owner handles himself, I never will be.
Really neat spot. Found a Bruce Lee collection on Blu Ray.
Great place to find those CDs & Vinyl youre looking for. Loads of selection, great prices and friendly staff.
Great selection, competitive prices, Even despite the Seattle hipster service quality 😁 Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love this place. I always go straight to the cheap cd s bin. I always leave there with at least 20 cds for around 15 bucks!
They have an amazing selection but not many copies of new releases. They do an excellent job preserving alphabetical order so you can find what youre looking for.
This store has moved several times since Ive lived in Seattle and hails back to the glory days of The Hill. Given the current trends Im amazed its lasted this long. It hosts the largest collection of used CDs and DVDs in Seattle. I strongly recommend shopping here as much as you can before gentrification forces them out of business.
Was in seattle last night for the My Bloody Valentine concert, got up to have breakfast at lost lake across the street. After paying our bill, walked across the street and found Everyday Music shop. Scored some awesome tunes for the drive back to Portland, OR. Thank you Seattle for a great time. We will be bak for more!
I have visited Everyday Music about 10 or 15 times over the past couple years. Every time I have walked out with something.Their used vinyl selection is pretty extensive and the prices may be the lowest Ive seen. Ive been able to find solid copies of a lot of my favorite 70s prog rock records for $2 - 4, a lot of which would have been double at other nearby shops. From my experience they dont overprice the more rare/valuable items either. They visually grade their used vinyl (Fine, Good & Fair from best to worst) which is helpful if condition is important to you.Its definitely more used than new, but you will find some new stuff as well. The rock/pop vinyl section is basically two long aisles stretching the length of the store and you could spend all day looking through it. They have very healthy jazz, metal, classical, ambient, electronic & 7 vinyl sections as well. Cant comment on the other sections but theres definitely more that Im not mentioning.Another HUGE plus is their return policy. In most situations they will accept used returns for up to 2 weeks, which is really nice if you are sensitive to scratches and surface noise and dont have the time to play test everything in-store (but you do have that option as well). Sometimes theres that tiny little scratch you didnt see but totally ruins your favorite song; they are sympathetic to that, unlike some shops (*cough Sonic Boom cough*). To be fair, Ive gotten a couple records that were slightly misgraded, with scratches that were hard to see but negatively affected playback. However, when I brought them back they were understanding and made the situation right. The staff is way chill and helpful.Highly recommended to any and all music collectors and casual listeners.
They have everything and are awesome in every way possible.
Another pretentious shop ran by totally judgemental squares.
Fantastic selection of new and used music. Their bargain CD section is one of the best deals in town.
Dropped by while on vacation. Thankfully they were open on the 4th. Awesome selection and wide open spaces to look around.
Great prices, friendly service &tons of genres and a variety of everything! The CDs & LPs are a given, but i was surprised to see a wall of cassette tapes, VHS & 8 tracks. Among the discount DVDs you can find older movies, blue ray & multiple sets of shows, usually all seasons (maybe a season off). The only minus is the parking, but thats any where near or arround downtown.
Great selection. Decent prices. Friendly staff.
Decent collection and nice staff, nothing to crazy. pretty average.
Typical used music store. Decent prices.
Cool
A very large classic record shop with music for fans of any and all genres! New and used are both available and pricing is fair!
Excellent record store with knowledgeable staff made up of audiophiles and musicians. Lots of new and used vinyl and a nice little metal section for the maniacs.
The place is huge and always the first place I go to for movies. Im not a huge music buff but 7/8 of the place is CDs and records and I think thru have a big movie selection! Staff is friendly and Ive never gotten a bad disc from this place.
Cool big store, have live music and friendly staff. Cool place to hang out and find new music
Prepare to spend some time here if youre looking at used records. Staff vary between indifferent and hostile, so beware.
Great place to get your fix
Everyday music has a wide selection of new and used vinyl, compact discs, cassettes, and DVDs. Its a solid shop with fair prices. Of the different Everyday locations (Bellingham, Seattle, PDX, Beaverton), this is my favorite.
Great selection and affordable prices for just about any music youre looking for.
I really didnt take time to look around I went to sell some CDs I found they could not help me even though I was looking at about $3,000 worth of them I did not have the jewel cases so they could not take them bear that in mind if you go to sell them some
Awesome quantity of new/used LPs
Great record shop with rather large diverse collection !!!
Decent reocrd shop with scores and scores of used records! Thee guys keep all of their 12 singles too.
Really good selection of new and used music. Easy to shop too.
A chill place to find a new old record and get inspired.
I cant say enough about this place. When my Dad passed I was left with several boxes of Cds that I wanted to sell. Lars went out of his way to accomodate my flakey self. I was seriously blown away by how accomodating and professional he was.The store is like candyland for audiophiles. Its huge and opens onto this quaint street where people can hang and chat (pub across the street). It felt very New York right there and I actually enjoyed waiting. You will too.
Very large selection and good vibe
Decent spot to be left alone and dig, plenty of used records..theyve also got a single listening station
Found slot of good movies at great prices.
Fun place. Good selection
Love this place, awesome selection for many music style and very good prices.
I came in looking for 1 record. I didnt find it, but I left with 5 others. 5/5 would spend my rent here again
You will see cassette, great selection of CDs, and records. Both new and old items.
