I had the pleasure of visiting this nice mineral store this past year and it was very nice to take a tour of it.

This is a hidden Gem... My daughter loves it and we will be having many more mommy daughter dates so she can talk about dinosaurs to the guys there .. They where so amazing with her....

What a great variety! Louis was very friendly & knowledgeable of products, prices also reasonable. If youre interested in rocks & minerals this place is worth the trip, call ahead, hours vary from website. 😊

Best crystal shop by far! The owner and workers truly have a passion for gems and know so much about both the science and energetic properties of the stones. You wont see this quality of crystals, minerals and fossils anywhere nearby.

Wow! What a shop! Called as I pulled up as no visible sign was actually in place or any sense that they were open, and Louis said, Come on in!. So glad I did. Found a small box load of unique specimens from his ridiculously amazing collections. Was there for 30 min or so and barely scratched the surface. Ill be back!

Had an amazing time at AVM! Stopped by yesterday with a few friends and loved all the unique crystals and fossils they had. Loved chatting with everyone, super knowledgeable and I loved seeing the special peices he pulled out for us. Awesome glass work as well! Definitely stop by here if you are in the area!🐟🍄✌🏼

This shop is great! Excellent quality minerals, fossils and even meteorites for great prices! If you want to visit its by appointment but you can usually get in any day of the week, just call ahead. The shop owner Louis is very knowledgeable and a great person to deal with! Definitely worth a visit!

AVM is full of surprises! Every corner that you turn something else catches your eye. Everything is well documented, authentic, and carefully curated. And the owner, Louis, is an absolute gem himself! He is so knowledgeable, welcoming, and patient. He makes you feel right at home and answers any questions that you could possibily have. The entire store and experience is educational and amazing. 💜

I have lived in Smithfield for 10 years and never knew this existed. It was a museum opened in 1962, with cabinets donated from Harvard. Every nook and corner had display cases with drawers filled with minerals and fossils. Its like walking into a museum and everything is for sale! Louis is knowledgeable and friendly, willing to answer any question you might have. Definitely make a point to go on their open house Sunday!

A great rock and mineral shop for collectors and people who are just curious. I have found some wonderful specimens there over the years. Good prices too. There are specimens for all ages.

Wonderfully overwhelming in scope of samples and specimens. Hard to imagine a more nondescript, noncommercial and not on any beaten path kind of place. Owner very knowledgeable about minerals and gems in general and the organized chaos of the store. Current owner took on this labor of love out of his own passion from childhood visits. Place is open on Sundays and by appt. Also is a place for school field trips. Same amount of attention whether you are looking at $1 geodesic and $1000 tourmaline sample.

I love the lack of pretention. The guys always have time to discuss and give the history of pieces. Great for gift giving.
