Staff is always very informative and helpful. Got my hitch installed a few months ago at this U-Haul. I use this location for all of my trailer and propane needs.

This UHaul needs to train its employees.Person behind the counter couldn’t answer a basic question and didn’t attempt to be helpful at all.

Screwed me over with service, tried to move my appointment to a different time and when I came in they said the truck wasnt available. Didnt care at all, ignored me, and were very rude.

When I called to try to get some understanding about what to do if no truck would be available for my move all I got was a flippant response. When I emailed to complain about the hag who talked to me and to see if anyone at Uhaul cared at all, the woman called me personally to confront me! Ha! Ugh! Not the kind of Uhaul I have experienced over the years. Uhaul is not the only choice.

I came here, 2nd time making an appointment for a hitch, because first appointment they made me at a different location apparently didnt have part or tech. So I walk in, after confirming my appointment hours before, and they dont do hitches on weekends, and the part is not available! Waste of my time once again. Get your act together please.

Good luck if you want propane. Multiple occasions they have no one available. They will tell you to come back at a specific time and there is still no one available.Waste of time place.Replying to the replyNot true. I was there at 3pm today when a lady told me after 20 minutes of waiting to come back after 430p because no one is certified until then. I came back at 5pm and the same lady told me that no one is certified...two wasted trips in one day.

Ive rented from Uhaul in smithtown a few times. Once for a closed trailer, twice for an open trailer, and twice for bigger box truck. Theyve always been helpful. Once they were stretched a little thin with staff on a weekend, but I Ive always been able to pick up and return when needed. Its the biggest Uhaul in the area, so they are my go-to place. Im going back today for an open trailer to move a laundry dryer and some stockade fence panels.

Worst experience ever! Extremely unprofessional. Took two weeks to get my hitch installed because they didn’t order the right one. “Expedited” shipping of correct hitch took a week and a half, when they said it would be two days. When I got my car back, multiple items were stolen from it. The whole car was ripped apart with items everywhere and they just left it! When inquiring about it, they said they have no cameras and they can’t do anything about it. Not even an apology from the manager, she was overly excited to tell me that they weren’t liable. If you value your car and belongings, choose anywhere but here.

Excellent service, clean equipment. Online check-in made it quick and easy to both pick up and return the vehicle. One less thing to worry about while moving, thank you!

Rented a truck they called and said we didnt have a truck available. Why make a reservation 3 wks earlier to be told no truck is available...

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with uhaul.I’ve rented from them many times in the past and have a great experience but this will be my last rental.I rented a 26 foot truck from the smithtown location. The girl who rented me the truck was very nice and I was planning on making 3 trips from smithtown to amityville that I left a deposit for. The truck broke down IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION on my first trip. I waited 3 hours to get help. They told me all they could do is tow the truck to the drop off location.I asked what I was supposed to do about getting a refund or a new truck since I clearly didn’t even use it for the day. Roadside assistance said that was a choice that to be made by the location I got the truck from. The truck didn’t get to the house until 10pm. I had to work an overnight shift as an essential worker I have not slept and I came to the location to get a new truck or a refund. The kid at the front desk tells me there’s not even a note that the truck broke down and there’s nothing he can do and the only way to get me another truck was to sign a new contract and pay Another deposit. How there could have been no note I had no idea. I call customer service and they tell me because I did not REQUEST A NEW TRUCK that there’s nothing they can do. I payed for 3 trips! They never even gave me that option?!? They told me the location would handle it ...do not use this location. They do not take care about there customers and will most likely give you a broken truck and then throw there hands up like it’s not there problem and then reach there hand out to take more of your money. I have an entire family to move and very little time. They world is already losing its mind this is the last thing I or anybody else needs.

This was my second time getting a van hitch bought and installed. From Valerie to Tom the installer new his stuff. Very knowledgeable and polite. A stand up guy. Thanks Tom and Valerie

Poor customer service. There were no customers in the store, while I sat in front of the propane filling station for over ten minutes. In that time an employee came out saw me waiting and did nothing. I tried calling the store to get someone outside and was informed by corporate customer service that their phones were being forwarded. I them went inside and was told they couldnt fill propane tanks today. How about a sign at the filling station telling your customers? How about telling me while Im out there? I wont be going back.

Terrible service. I brought in the minivan to get a trailer hitch installed. They took the van and 2 hours later called to tell me they didnt have the right hardware to install it. I had made the appointment about two weeks prior and they had taken down the make, model and year of the vehicle. So I had to return and pick up the car. They said the correct parts would arrive in a few days and they would call. After a week of not hearing from them I called and was told another day or two. Another week went by and still no call so I called and still no parts. A third week went by and I called - finally the parts were in and I made an appointment. I brought the car in and the woman at the desk asked if I was waiting for it. I responded yes and I would go next door with the kids to have lunch. She said it would not be very long. After 90 minutes at Taco Bell I returned only to find the car still on the lift. I was told they installed it, and then decided the under-carriage was too rusted so they were removing it. After two hours I left with no hitch.

Went there for 30lb refill this morning and because tank was laying on its side, was told it could not be filled for 24 hours??? Wont go back.
