This family owned restaurant in the valley of south orange avenue is a shimmering jewel of delirious brunch food. The entire experience is great from front to back. It starts with the virtual menu that you access by scanning a QR code (also there are physical menus available if thats your thing), its futuristic and efficient and I love it. The food is delicious and presentation spectacular, oh and also they make great coffee (most places dont). The entire staff is kind and attentive, the owners will remember you. The entire environment is upscale and friendly (which is a rare combination). If you are looking for a great brunch experience in North Jersey this is the place to go.

Cute cafe with with a wide variety of breakfast/ lunch options. Highlights were the in-house banana bomb bread, which was truly out of this world. It had melted chocolate and roasted pecans layered on top and bottom that put it over the top. The everything croissant was great too, which is to be expected since everything from Balthazars is amazing. I liked that the scallion cream cheese was very light and not overpowering. The latte was carefully crafted and very smooth. Definitely look forward to coming back again soon and trying new food/drink options off the menu.

The Order is an incredible cafe in the heart of South Orange. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out, clean, and the staff is so friendly! The pastries, coffee, and food were all equally amazing. All around a perfect place to stop by for a sit down brunch/lunch or a quick coffee/pastry. Cant wait to stop by again soon! Highly reccomend the lattes (iced or hot), banana bomb bread!!!, and truffle fries.

This place was so unique! I loved how personable the owners were and the service was fast. We got the Nah nah and lattes. They were so delicious and full of flavor. Definitely would recommend and return here to try everything else!

The irony of The Order is in the name. You have to order entirely on your own device, via a QR code which brings you to a menu and point of sale service. You are not assigned a waiter. In fact, it is up to you to assign a Big Boss to your table to take everyones order and pay. Failure to add everything to a single order per table will be met with admonishment from the staff.Every time you walk in they assure you that there will be a wait for food because everything is fresh.The food and drinks are lovely but the barrier to ordering and being served at The Order is enough to not make me come back.When I go out to eat, I want to sit down and be served and engage with the server, thats why I chose to eat out. At The Order, the lift is put on the customer to place their order and pay on a device.Call me old school but a paper menu and a waiter works just fine. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

I only came in for coffee but I wish I had stayed there longer. Such an incredibly friendly staff, and amazing coffee. I was in there for all of five minutes and it was such a lovely experience. I will definitely be back!

The owner here is so great! I love the customer service, love the creative, delicious menu, and love the way all the customers have such positive vibes and are ready to support local business.

I enjoyed a pleasant afternoon eating this delicious Lamb Kebab plate. The lamb was cooked to perfection with bold flavors accompanied by fluffy basmati rice and refreshing veggies that tasted wonderfully all together. Hats off to the chef and team for the wonderful meal and exceptional table service. I’m looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed at all.

I loved The Order! The staff were very friendly and accomodating, and the food was prepared within a reasonable amount of time. I appreciated the usage of a QR code to place orders, because it minimized any confusion. Service went very smoothly, and I couldnt have asked for a better set of waiters or a better chef! Had a huge party (6) today and the owner Sheldon was incredibly accommodating of us. He got us seated and made ordering as easy as possible. The food was INCREDIBLE. I mean really, really good. I had the Nah Nah chickpea curry and i can’t recommend it enough. Sweet potato fries are to die for. Staff is super sweet and friendly. Overall a really enjoyable place to eat and relax. Try it!!!

What a delight! I went to experience afternoon tea or what you might call high tea. It was lovely and absolutely a wonderful experience. The wait staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The chef greeted us and I think we may have had several fun exchanges with the owner. The atmosphere is relaxed but sophisticated and my coworker and I could not have enjoyed ourselves more. The decor is unpretentious but elevated to make it a cool spot to hang with friends or even a second date.The tea was abundant and the biscuits, scones, pastry were so good that I wanted to lay out on the floor but good sense prevented me from doing it! Go! Seriously, go and sit with friends and enjoy tea in a truly refreshing and unhurried way. I loved it and am bringing friends!

1st of all IM SORRY the food looked so good I dove in and didnt take pics. HOWEVER, listen to me! I went for the first time today (definitely not the last) and I must say that they provided excellent service! The breakfast food and mocha I had were amazinggggg. I normally dont write Google reviews, but I had to for this cute spot. Joaquin, Courtney, and Devin were so helpful and nice! I would definitely come back again and tell my friends about it. Such a positive and beautiful atmosphere.

Good food, drink, and service. Everyone that works there is kind and talks to you like you’re a friend. Their baked goods are one of my favorite morning treats. Everything is seasoned to perfection on all their dishes.But if you’re looking for a quick meal on your lunch break, this is not your spot. The food is all made to order (and worth the wait if you have time), but it takes my entire hour lunch break just to receive the food, let alone eat it. They also don’t do substitutions, so if you’re vegetarian or especially vegan you have limited options.

The Get Your Lamb On was DELICIOUS!!! and what can I say about their salads let’s just say they are amazing! and the dressing was out of this world love love love it! And to end your lunch with some sweets the pastries are to die for. But what I love the most about THE ORDER it’s the staff they are very friendly people, will be returning soon.

I can not say enough good things. Our large group of moms, tiny babies and strollers showed up and they were more than accommodating. The ordering was easy, every plate was delicious, and the servers were so patient and helpful.

Amazing Food! Amazing Atmosphere! Amazing People! I have been to The Order couple times now and man I cant get over the fact that every time Im there I forget Im in New Jersey. I feel like Im at a cafe in Europe, sipping on the best Mocha Latte Ive ever had. Service is fantastic!I also tried the Mary & Cat Shrimps, it was delicious!

I never give one star reviews but I’m honestly really upset. There’s no sense of order here whatsoever. We never even got greeted or figured out how to get a table. We walked into the entrance and the woman at the counter immediately told us we had to wait outside as we were too large of a group (3 of us) to wait inside. No problem, we step outside. But there’s no one working outside. Thinking maybe we were waiting in the wrong spot, we asked a waiter as they walked outside from the separate kitchen entrance. They pointed us back to the entrance where we had been told we couldn’t wait. There was another group also waiting to be sat that seemed to be equally confused. So I don’t think we were the issue in this situation.

While traveling from out of town this lunch spot was highly recommended and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating! The menu had a large variety of delicious food to suit any tastebuds. Would highly recommend to locals or people traveling through!

Unfortunately we had a bad experience at this place. We had to wait more than one hour for the food. We ordered the food using their webpage, to realize 30 minutes later that they didnt get the order. And still after this it took them more than 30 minutes to get the order ready, when the place was not full. It made the experience not pleasant at the end. The staff was friendly otherwise.

This was such a great experience! Mr.Sheldon and mr.devin we’re both amazing! We have lived around the area for 1 yr but never been here, now we will be back very soon . A cute luxe and minimalist type cafe!! I love this new place. Staff definitely friendly and that Monkey Bread is amazing and also created my own Chai..Well, thats the way I drink my chai but with oat milk from now on rather than coconut milk. Its the Unsweetened Chai with honey and oat milk, and I love the biscoff biscuit they give. In the back they have more space to sit. Love the bathroom sign it says Whatever!! Gender Neutral basically. Great Great Great place. I have to try there food.

We love The Order! We moved to the area during the pandemic back in May so with limited human interaction the folks at The Order made us feel so welcome! Always remembering our orders and greeting us by name via phone or in the shop. Helps that the food and coffee are amazing too :).

Amazing food! We just randomly picked this spot after visiting the turtle back zoo, and It was beyond our expectations for take out. Lamb plate was superb with meat being super tasty and juicy. Chicken wrap was great as well. The secret is in their sauces - they were amazing, I think sous chef should get a special praising!

Everything I’ve had at The Order has not only been deeply seasoned with flavor, but also soul. The entire team but especially Sheldon, Mia and Devon who Ive had the pleasure to meet, go above and beyond in making every experience a memorable one. I’m torn between the lamb desi bowl and the Julio & Norbert as my favorite dishes… the pancakes and fries are additional favorites. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. From the tea to the entrees everything has been thoughtfully chosen and is incredibly fresh and I’m so happy to have this amazing restaurant nearby.

Our favorite restaurant in town. The scones are the best around - flakey, buttery and not too sweet. Their tandoori chicken is not the usual tough dry meat that many Indian restaurants serve. It is tender and juicy. Great green sauce. The owner, Sheldon, is engaging and sets the great tone and atmosphere.

Im from New Orleans and am up in New Jersey visiting for a few months. New Orleans has a very strong coffee culture and The Order has allowed me to continue to enjoy a strong coffee culture during my time here in South Orange. Sheldon and his family do a wonderful job in providing a warm friendly atmosphere, delicious healthy food, and a quality cup of joe. I stop here almost everyday, and would love it if yall opened another shop in New Orleans one day! Thanks yall!

Great place to eat, great customer service, excellent tasty and unique food!After a snowstorm and long periods of cold weather we were dying to get out. We decided to try The Order and were pleasantly surprised . There are many choices on the menu. It looks like it had some thing for everybody including vegetarians. The menu also changes every six months too. The place is small but well decorated and offers everything from coffee, breakfast to full-fledged lunch or dinner. We had the falafel with basmati rice and the veggie me crazy sandwich. The rice was flavored perfectly and the dressing for falafel was great. The sourdough bread on the sandwich was perfectly done and the aïoli with the unique fries was a great addition. Portion sizes were big too. Definitely recommend it. Sheldon the owner is so pleasant to talk to. It was so nice of him to send our kids home with some goodies! Will definitely return for more soon.

LOVE this place! Great coffee and exceptional customer service! This has become my regular stop for coffee on the way to work. Parking is a breeze and Im always in and out. Much faster than ordering ahead at Starbucks and Im thrilled to have a local coffee shop that I can proudly support. The Order is my go-to spot for coffee, a yummy breakfast or basically anytime. They take immense pride in making the perfect coffee. They also have slamming breakfast. My faves are the Hagrid, Penelope and the Oh Damn. If youre in the mood for a salad the Santorini is delish. If you like indian food, youre in for a treat. This family run business is incredible!

For the price you pay the food wasnt a whole plate full and it took forever to come. Oh they dont have much of a vegan menu

Such a cute place. SO happy the space is being reinvented. Could use a customer service lesson . I waited in line with only one person in front of me ( who had yet to order) for over 7 minutes with no acknowledgement that I existed. To make the experience more palatable I suggest acknowledging people waiting in line by actually looking up, saying something like I will be right with you or Thank you so much for your patience. I will take your order soon. Unfortunately I had to leave.

The bagel sandwich was so tasty. The space was nice and clean. Really excited to come back again.I will say though, that their flat white was more like a latte with 1/8in of foam, rather than a yummy foamy drink. The espresso was good and strong though, so I didnt mind much.

Beautifully decorated, surprisingly spacious town coffee shop with absurdly good pastries and drinks. My favorite coffee drink is a mocha, and they make one of the best I’ve had — and I’ve had a lot!Prices are comparable or better than the Starbucks five minutes away, and the quality here is worlds better. If you have a chance, choose local and stop by this new store!

This is a family operated place that South Orange has needed for too long. The service is impeccable, drinks are on point, the food is beautiful and healthy, and I could not be happier this place exists. If you are in South Orange (even just for the day) this is a place you simply HAVE to check out! You will be glad you did! :)

I have found that some places do most things right, some places do everything right, but it’s rare to find a place that does everything exceptional! If you’re looking for a cafe that achieves this feat, then you have to come to The Order!I have zero affiliation with anyone here, so these are genuine words that describe our experience there, one night. We felt at home. We felt like everything they served to us came with a high level of pride. The friendly service was more than just friendly, there was a family vibe here, as if they welcomed us into their home.We are definitely going back!

This restaurant is my preferable restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. everytime I I need a proper lunchon, this is the place that comes straightaway to my mind. superb and food and a large list of dishes.trained crew, and pleasant spirit. Not less important, the price is decent. I praise this place with pleasure.

Now that I’ve been here at least 3 times I can say the service is CONSISTENTLY AMAZING! And the food/drinks have always been just as delicious! The chai tea is the best!!! Above all, the vibes are always so relaxed and inviting! The owner (I believe he’s the owner) has always given me the best recommendations! Today I tried the Dirty Fries and OMG soooo good!!!

The new cafe in town is making tons of noise so I had to try it out. I have to say my expectations were surpassed. The venue is beautifully designed and perfect for either a quick bite or a cute date. I tried the chicken and lamb over rice, called the Double Trouble and it was exceptional. Compared to the usual CnR spots that are drenched in white sauce, this food was actually good for the perfectly seasoned and juicy meat. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, PLUS its super clean. Found my new go to.

If you’re into creative, fresh, healthy food (plus BOMB fries to balance your meal), this is the spot. For appetizers, we ordered the Santorini Salad (YUM- amazing homemade dressing to top it off), small plate of falafels (not your basic falafel really great flavors and accompanied by an addicting garlic aioli dip that I can eat by itself), and the Order fries (the best part- mmm the seasoning). Obvi couldn’t stop there cause the menu had so many options to pick from. Main meal: Tandoori Chicken Desi Bowl and Lamb Kebob Desi Bowl (10/10 for both options- meat was moist, garlic basmati rice was addicting, and sauces ooof all together was just amazing). Overall, 5/5 would give more if I could for great customer service to top off the great food and ambiance this place offers.

Stopped by for lunch a couple of days after they opened. Surprised to see the variety on the menu - Indian / Portuguese from Goa, as well as more conventional New American dishes. Had a Plain Jane, which is similar to chicken tikka, and a latte. Really good food, coffee, and service. Sometimes a new place seems a bit disorganized or inconsistent. Not the case here - theyre off to a great start. Ill be back often.
