Most excellent service and reasonable pricing.Brought a friends car in for getting brake work. The quote given was reasonable for pads and rotors. During an inspection, the rear brakes showed considerable wear as did the tie rods (a known problem before, so not a tack-on)A new estimate was drawn up and work was done within the morning. On the way to pick up the car, my friend called to tack on an oil change and they are great adding it on for just the cost of parts.I checked over the vehicle afterward on their lot and all the work looked good.I would highly recommend Mr. Mechanic for their accurate estimate work and friendly staff. Very professional and reasonably priced car repairs. This was my first time bringing my car here, although my partner has been there several times and recommended the place when I had to wait over 2 weeks to bring in my car to the dealership.I had a coolant leak and they were able to let me bring in my car to an inspection the same day I called. They kept me updated once they found the leak and answered all my questions over the phone including their estimated price and timeline as well as their recommended next steps. I was able to pick up my car the next day and they checked in on me to make sure the coolant levels hadnt dropped a few days later. I will definitely come back again for future car issues!

I saw all of the great reviews and decided to give them a call. I’d never had brakes replaced on my Mustang so I wanted a quote… seems reasonable enough. The person who answered said there are “too many packages” on my car to give an accurate quote. I asked hey, just let me know you need to know… I gave him the year, model and told him the engine size and that it’s a GT. He said not enough, I’d need to come in. I reiterated to him… I could easily get the additional information. Still wouldn’t tell me what else was needed. He just wanted me to come in; bottom line. That was my experience. All I’ll say is I’m glad I called… what an odd, non accommodating disposition for an auto repair shop. They won’t be seeing me or my family.Edit: I happen to be a night owl, thanks. If it isn’t your practice to give quotes over the phone, simple: just be consistent... you just chose not to provide ME with one and now using “Karen” to divert from exactly what I was trying not to say; my black people… beware and support black businesses. I should have read the reviews before taking my car here. Will never do business there again it was my first and last time. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking about taking your car here to go anywhere else. Someone in their shop damaged my rear bumper. There was no damage to my rear bumper when I brought my car in. My son noticed the damage after I picked it up on Thursday, 3/25/21, morning as he followed me home. Took the car back to the shop and Rodney said hed see what Tony could do about it. They had my car for the whole day and then call on Friday, 3/26/21, morning to say they could offer me a $100 credit stating they couldnt prove whether the damage was there when we brought the car into the shop. My son and I arrived to pick up my car and Tony continues with the same storyline about having checked with the car collision place next door to him and didnt see where they were at fault for causing the damage. He referred to the other previous damage to my vehicle as if that excuses them from their liability for damaging my bumper. Take pictures of your vehicle when you leave it with mechanics or you will get eaten alive by sharks like this. DONT DO BUSINESS HERE!!!!Your response is a joke!!! Youre a con artist and not taking responsibility for the fact that your shop damaged my bumper!!! Then have the nerve to offer me $100 credit for damage done by your employee instead of repairing the rear bumper that your employee damaged!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!!!! They will damage your vehicle and try to up-charge you for additional services!!!

“PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO HERE. On March 5, 2021 took my car in cause I thought my oil was leaking go to find out it was a transmission problem. I was told that I had a transmission leak and I needed a fuel pump. After a (3) hour diagnostic test was supposedly been done. I picked my car up on March 9, 2021. I paid Tony (the owner) 1356.00 and the next day my engine light came on again and my car was knocking and I took it back on that Wednesday had to get a rental car I explained to Tony and Ronnie. Before the work was done I was told that I had a year warranty and when I picked up my car it was a 6 month warranty. I was asked to bring in my spare key (if I had one) cause a bad code. I did then I was told by Tony that my transmission was gone. Wow after a (3) hour diagnostic test should it came up at first. I was told that it would cause me 4,000.00 for a new one. I picked up my car on March 13, 2021 and my car has been sitting where I live at since then. If they had been honest with me from the start I wouldn’t have never got my car fixed. No help was offered to help me with the rental for the day I had to take my car back in.. I have notified he BBB about there bad service and I have contacted Channel (2). Problem Solvers and also on Thursday March 18, 2021 I filed a complaint with the Small Claim Courts. I do not recommend this place at all Tony and Ronnie are horrible people. I didn’t have 1356.00 to give them for a F—-D up job. Please don’t let them work on your car.

DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS. Horrible experience all the way around. I hit a snowbank near this shop and had some damage I needed to get repaired on my 2015 Buick Regal. I ended up needing a few things done that cost almost $2,200. When I picked the car up Tony told me the check engine light was flickering on the test drive, but turned off and should be fine. That all seemed fine, but a month later, my engine sputtered out so I figured Id take it back to the shop that did the initial repairs since they would be familiar with the situation and my car. They call me back to say they checked the work they did and it was all good, but they would need to do further diagnostics to figure out the problem. I say go for it and I do not get a call back for 2 days. I finally call the shop hoping to get some answers and they say bad news you have a blown cylinder and need a new engine. I pressed a little to say hey could we have foreseen this coming or are we sure this isnt related to the repairs you did prior and of course they say no its just bad luck. So I press further and ask them to help me understand what happened or how this could have happened and they say no idea. My car is a 2015 Buick Regal with less than 75k miles on it, the engines dont just blow on cars for no reason and these guys cannot even tell me what went wrong. That combined with the flashing check engine light that just turned off when i initially picked it up makes me extremely suspicious. I ask what my options are and they say we can scrap it or look for a used engine to put install. I say get me a price and well see. Once again no call back.. After 2 more days, I call back and ask for an update. They say yeah these engines are expensive, the cheapest one I could find is $3,400 and it would take 20 mechanic hours to install. I say dont bother, Ill figure it out and plan on picking the car up. I ask them to waive the $300 diagnostic fee (obviously Id pay for the tow) or at least reduce it due to the fact that I had already done over $2k in repairs with them and they couldnt even tell me what went wrong when my engine failed completely a month later. Overall the experience was extremely negative and not just because it was bad circumstances. First I had to call them every time to get the bad news, communication was AWFUL. Second I was trying to speak with Tony (the manager I had dealt with the first time) to see if we could work something out, but he was always either gone, or unavailable. Third zero willingness to give me a discount on a 3 hour diagnostic that told me nothing except that my car wasnt drivable, which I could have gotten in 5 minutes from literally anyone. Fourth the quote to replace the engine was absurd - all in was going to be over $5k. I picked the car up, a friend of mine who I would classify as a hobby mechanic, found a used engine for $2,200 with less miles then the one they found and installed it himself with 16 hours of labor.Car repairs are never fun, but even in the worst situations, the small things make a big difference. Tony, Ronnie, and all of Mr. Mechanic Southfield missed the mark BIG TIME on this one. Even if none of what they told me was a lie or misleading (feels very unlikely), the lack of professionalism, lack of accountability, and horrible communication shown by these guys is exactly why nobody trusts auto mechanics. I would avoid this place like the plague if I were you. Take your business elsewhere.

Had the worse experience here, brought my car in for an electric issue and came out with a loud car and blown engine. When comforting Tony about the issue, I found out that I was lied to and got disrespected (took it as a joke almost) when comforting him about the issue. I felt cheated and completely dissatisfied, now I have to get a whole new car. This has been a nightmare, beware

Mr Mechanic (Tony) really disappointed me on my third visit to his shop. I used to admire and respect his work. But then his team managed to break two of my tire pressure sensors when I needed new tires installed. Now my new tires are on, but so is my tire pressure light on my dashboard (not to mention that it blinks, distracting me when I’m driving).I asked him if he would install new sensors to fix it, and he said yes, but he’d charge me another $20 per tire plus the parts, as if it was my fault.He started working on my car, broke my first sensor, stopped, told me it’s a common issue, asked if I wanted to continue. I said ok, not knowing how distracting the dashboard light would be. Then another one breaks... So you’d think that a mechanic with 30 years of experience wouldn’t let this kind of thing happen - he could’ve told me about the risks BEFORE starting the job.Note: I’ll change my review if Tony proposes a solution.

Driving an 18 year old truck, you naturally expect to have things start breaking down on you. Unfortunately after moving downstate for work, I noticed a puddle of gasoline building up under my gas tank. With my first day of work being 4 days away, I needed it fixed fast. I called Tony and he told me he would take a look at it the next day, and that next day he called me and gave me a quote. One day after that quote, I get a call that it’s ready to go and the cost was about $400 cheaper than inspected. Mr. Mechanic’s is fast, friendly, and reliable. I’ll definitely be using them for my auto needs in the future.

Recently had to have a brake work done on my car. I called several other places for quotes, but Mr. Mechanic offered the best price. Tony the manager was great. After I told him I would return on Friday Tony offered to work out a payment plan because he was really concerned about me doing any additional driving which would make the brakes worst. Also, the work was done quickly and Tony followed up a few days later to see how my brakes were doing, great customer service. I would definitely recommend Mr. Mechanic for any car repairs.

Ive been going here since I moved to Southfield about 4 years ago. I cant say enough about these folks. Theyll take the car in in the morning and get back to you in the evening. When they call you, theyll describe the problem completely and in a way thats easy to understand for non-mechanical folks. Then theyll tell you your options and provide a quote for each option, and they dont hesitate to tell you if they think an option wouldnt be worth the cost. They do the job quickly and correctly and then youre back on the road.

I wouldnt suggest this place. Didnt even check to see the belt was off but told me I would need a new engine. Dont know if he was just frustrated and wanted the money and us out.

This is the worst experience I had so far from, Tony. I spent $700 dollars worth of repairs. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle the car wouldnt start. I informed Tony that my car is not starting, so they had to jump my vehicle. The following weeks I had to keep jumping my vehicle. I called Tony to let him know about my vehicle. Bring it back to the shop so we can take a look at it, Tony said. When I call back the next day, his manager, said theres nothing we can do for you. Keep in mind the $700 dollars repairs had nothing to do with the battery!!

Mr. Mechanic is a breath of fresh air. I had been ripped off for years by two other shops before going there. And now, its the only shop I ever consider. The staff is courteous and professional and they explain the needed repairs without pressuring you to do more. Had to have my car towed to the location after business hours. Used on line scheduling and got confirmation about appointment very quickly. Extremely knowledgeable, honest and fair. I spoke to a mechanic there 3 months go who said they could repair the head gasket of a Ford 150 that my rv sits on. Today I was told that they dont do that work and I must have the wrong shop. The person I spoke to originally was African American, but I was also told that no African Americans work at the Southfield shop. The person said I must have imagined the incident or been mistaken about who I saw and what was said. So dismissive! I also cant believe that in Southfield Michigan, they have no African American mechanics.

Tony fixed a power steering problem on my Ford Ranger. The job was done quickly and at an affordable price. Im very happy with the work that was done and I will be using Mr. Mechanic in the future.

On May 24, 2019 my wife tire went flat and since she has a foreign vehicle I was unable to get the tire off myself. I saw Mr. Mechanic shop near where the vehicle was broke down and decided to give them a call. I spoke to who I assumed at the time to be the manager and ask him a few questions and he told me to bring it in and offered towing for the vehicle if needed. I meet with Tony and he handle everything. He is very knowledgeable about foreign vehicle so domestic wont be a problem. If looking for a shop to take your vehicle please dont hestitate. And ask for Tony. The shop is clean and they are very professional. I have 2 other vehicle and I will be going here from now on. This is a honest and not a paid review. Give them a call and go check them out!

They do pretty good work even though the prices are very high and non negotiable but why the review is low is they always give u an estimate n after its done the call u with a higher than expected bill always! If prices arw not an issue they are second best from the dealership! I use them for a good diagnosis and go somewhere else cheaper hoping they dont get mad at me for not getting the expensive repairs done there.

Great experience...mostly! Had to reset one thing myself afterwards but they were honest with me about services I needed and what I didn’t need. Prices are mid range in my opinion. My new windshield wipers they installed broke after 2 weeks but I don’t think this is their fault. I may have done something to cause them to break. They are definitely a 4 star provider for me!

I found them to be very honest and efficient. I have already referred them to a family member. If my vehicle needs service again Ill be taking it back to Mr. Mechanic. I had a great experience.

They left a gasket off the thermostat housing of my chevy cruze recomended a new engine car ran for a year now its totally messed up and i have to pay a lot to get it fixed they are scam artists dishonest and disrespectful

There is nobody better than Tony and his team at Mr. Mechanic. Always a clear quote and an honest assessment of what needs fixing. Id rather repair than replace, and for more than 20 years, Ive only replaced 1 car, and that one had more than 300k miles. So Mr. Mechanic has saved me a fortune in the cost of replacement vehicles.

Believe the reviews!!! Tony called me with an estimate for my repair and educated me, “Breaks for Dummies” style, so that I thoroughly understood what the charges covered. The cost was very close to what I expected, and within reason. When I picked up my car Tony was cheerful and friendly. My breaks are like new. I plan to drive my 2012 until it “dies!” So, I will be a return customer. GREAT EXPERIENCE!

Great and fast service. I was afraid that they wont be able to accommodate my car with such a short notice (10 minutes) but I am so happy that they did.
