Just by what I see on there website for some of there desktop PCs that are on special they are very pricey. Anyone that buys a Intel i3 2100 and no gpu and pays 799 is literally getting robbed. Or how about an Intel i5 2320 with a gt520 gpu for 999. I wouldnt go near a place that is willing to up change so much on such old out dated hardware. You wont even be able to use Windows 11 on them.

Prior to entrusting my laptop to Southgate Computers, my computer was working perfectly besides a minor issue with one of the hinges-it would not close properly. After reviewing local computer repair shops in my area, I chose Southgate Computers as they seemed to be reputable and had over 20 years of service in the community. On December 12, I dropped my laptop off and was told a $45 diagnostics test would be performed. They called December 29th and confirmed my hinge was bad and did not express any other known issues. The new part was then ordered. I did not hear from them - so I called on January 18th. They claimed the part was not in yet-but after stating I would rather pick up my computer and cancel the repair they instantly found the part.They called the next day informing me the repair was done but the computer would not turn on. They suspected it was the motherboard and I asked that they keep me informed while they continue to diagnose the problem. Another two weeks went by without hearing from them, so I took the initiative and called again. Cary, the owner, just so happened to talk to their supplier that day and could get another motherboard for $250. I was frustrated that they actually thought I would pay them to fix the damage they inflicted upon my laptop. Cary then stated “If (I) felt Southgate Computers caused the damage” he could offer $250 in store credit. I declined and picked up my laptop with the original hinge-as I no longer trusted their services, and was gravely disappointed in their customer service and lack of communication throughout the process.I would highly recommend you seek another business for your computer needs, especially repairs. I now have a laptop in worse condition than I started out with.

Called this store asking for a specific solution and was told to bring my unit down to the store to be worked on as parts are in stock. When I get there both guys look at me confused. When I asked for my device to be worked on I was told they are 5 days out and cannot repair anything today 😂 Dont waste ur time with these jokers they’re overwhelmed and stuff seems inadequate. Would give 0 stars thanks for wasting my time.

Took my PC in when I realized I needed a new case due to overcrowding and heat issues. Both guys I dealt with were very cool and made sure I knew what to expect and offered options to match my wants. The turn around once I left was only a couple days and the computer came back in perfect shape, organized and in an awesome new case I will no doubt use for a long time. Will be going back for future upgrades and work.

Southgate computers was awesome! they went above and beyond with their customer service. They were able to save all my music from my 10 year old computer, they were less than half the price of Geek Squad, and they restored all the music to my new Macbook. they were great i highly highly recommend them!

Hard to find parts, good repairs and great service.

(updated) Repeat customer here with important tips. 1-they can repair apple products and they’re good at it. 2-Check your laptop before you leave the store to ensure it is functioning correctly. Often times with computer repairs, wires can come loose during assembly. They helped me the last time I was here when a wire came loose inside the computer, causing my screen to stay black, and they quickly fixed the problem for no additional charge. These folks have been in business for a long time and know what they are doing.

Great service. I didnt have the tool to take screws out of a SATA hard drive to be able to put it in an enclosure. He did it for me in five minutes. Awesome customer service!

Had a hard drive failure on my Mac, called them up looking for a certain cable to transfer over files. They didnt have the specific cable, but suggested an alternative solution which worked! Between the two cables I was looking at, they advised me to get the cheaper one. Appreciate the assistance.

Southgate Computers saves the day once again. I did a custom build and spent 3 days troubleshooting one thing after another and began to believe it was a total failure. I admitted defeat and brought it to Southgate Computers where they were polite, knowledgeable, and above all helpful. They fixed it for a cheap price and it runs better than ever. Eric is an excellent technician. He is very fast and a knowledgeable person. My business depends on my computer being up and fast. When I get a virus he is able to locate the problem and help me so that my down time is very minimal. Southgate gets an A+ rating from me.

I dont think it deserves all the bad rep it gets, its changed the past few years.I brought in my computer 5 minutes before closing, and they had it ready to go the next day, only $25 for a service fee.Sure, the stuff there is marked up a little, but its SUPER convenient to go there instead of all the way to micro center.It would be nice if they were open for another hour or so, too.

You are out of your mind to dare & mention that I received a free diagnosis *****YOUR diagnosis was wrong & cost me $700.00******** you should have just taken the review without responding because you know you were wrong & lazy. BTW my laptop still runs perfectly fine, no problems at all after I purchased another power cord. Doesnt that seem impossible after your tech said my motherboard was fried? Excellent computer store. They are an excellent place to do business, they are very honest and supply technical answers to me for free all the time. They have a good price structure, you get great merchandise for the price, They are not the bargain basement store but several steps up, providing excellent quality service and parts.I have been dealing with them for about 15 + years and can never complain about the service or honesty of the people who work there.

I took my Toshiba laptop into this computer repair store and right away they told me that something is wrong with the power connections on Toshiba laptops (he didnt even look at it) and suggested I contact the Manufacturer because it might still be under warranty. I contacted Toshiba, they sent me a box to ship it and didnt have to pay a thing. I got my computer back in a week.You dont find too many honest businesses in this world today. For that reason alone, whenever I have a computer issue, Im taking it to Southgate Computers Inc.Thank you!!!

I will always come to Southgate Computers first before any other company. Not only are they extremely helpful every time I call up to the store, but they do awesome work with great pricing. I dont understand why they are getting tagged with overpriced from some people. I would rather pay a little extra for great work with personable people than to go somewhere like Best Buy, getting charged an arm and a leg, just to come back with the same problem the next week. Not to mention, the young ladies at the front counter are nice to chat with while shopping around. Overall, Southgate Computers deserves 5 stars in my book!!

My laptop, which I bought from this store, does not connect with the internet most of the time. They guaranteed that if I paid them $150 to erase my hard drive and re-install Windows that it would fix the problem, It did not and seems to have made the problem worse. they refuse to stand by the guarantee but are happy to keep my money

Not very helpful and seemed like they didnt want to be there. Prices were sky high. Drove about 2 miles down the street to Best Buy and bought the exact same power supply for close to half the cost. I understand the importance of helping small business which is why i gave this place a shot at earning my business in the first place. But their cranky demeanor turned me off and made me question spending more money here as oppsed to spending less elsewhere.

Southgate computers was VERY patient and Eric was VERY helpful to get me back on line. Do to numerous circumstances going on in my life I am sure I was not the easiest client to deal with for which I apologize. But they stuck in there for even the stupidest questions and got me back on track.Thank you.

Just bought a laptop at Southgate Computers. Excellent service and experienced staff. I actually left with the laptop I chose the first visit. Returned the next day and exchanged the HP I selected for the DELL that was originally suggested to me!

Southgate Computers is the only Shop ill go to!!! I live in South Dakota, used to live in Taylor Michigan off Northline rd. I built my daughter a mini itx build. I sent it via UPS paid $170.00 to ship. Sad news the PC would not post. So in desperation had her take the PC to Trojan computer shop in Trenton, Huge mistake! The guy was trying to tell me hell give me a discount if i traded him my MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G for a used 1050ti saying its much faster because the 980s frequency is like 1250mhz compared to the 1050ti 1500mhz. Thats like comparing a AMD FX 8350 4ghz to a I7 5960x at 3ghz. I was on the phone with him with my daughter there and he was arguing with me about it in front of her. I was like no its not faster he was like yes it is like 5 times back and fourth until i said the graphics card stays! I thought it was the power supply explaining to Trojan computer guy in Trenton which is a Raidmax gold 850 watt power supply. That guy hates Raidmax products. I know! Its not EVGA, Corsair, or Seasonic, but that power supply for cheap is a beast. He tells me the power supply is bad my ssd is bad the motherboard is bad. I had to go to work so I had to get off the phone I hung up and the guy was asking my daughter if i knew what i was doing? when i build the pc. Just horrible experience. I feel the guy knew i was out of state and was trying to take advantage of my situation. So I had my daughter take all the pieces of the PC which is what we got back from Trojan, full build to pieces which I understand after I asked him to just put it back the way it came in. Seriously I was not rude to the guy in fear he would just mess things up more. Ive been building computers for friends family for myself since 2001. That guy at Trojan thinks just because he owns a pc shop that the customer knows nothing. Telling me to look on the cell phone apps whatever that means he can get a GTX 980 easy for 20 dollars, Yes! $20.00. Idk why he wanted my card so bad. Sorry just wanted to tell a desperate situation story about building something out of love for his child and how I had no control over the situation since I live so far away someone trying to take advantage over the situation. Southgate computers took the parts told me what needed to be fixed and they fixed them for a very reasonable price. I know Southgate computers vendor which is where anybody that knows about computers buys from but still no hassle no arguing no trying to swap out parts made me feel very comfortable on the phone. And most important of all my daughter loves her computer! Thank you Southgate Computers!!!! 100 Stars!!!P.S. Im posting this same review on Trojans and I think any bad review on here would be that guy from Trojan or any other computer shops bad reviews. Thats how that guy made me feel just cutthroat. lol It was that bad. and i paid him 60 dollars just to get my stuff back.. smh

The absolute worst. BEWARE!! Run away, do not do business with this company.Southgate Computers purchased a printer from me via eBay and blind shipped to their customer. The printer was new in factory packaging upon shipment. Southgate Computers returned the printer to me in VERY BAD CONDITION. No cords, shattered plastic, broken pieces, etc. Be very careful when doing business with this company.

I have gone to southgate computers for years and never had a problem until now. I had my laptop repaired and bought two new generic chargers for my two laptops there in january by April on of the chargers had already stopped working and the pin they repaired was broken again! A couple of days ago the other charger broke and when I went there at 6pm (they are open until 7) they were closed for the weekend. I am a grad student and needed at least one fixed. I went to Strategy One Computer down the street and they gave name brand chargers for the same price as Southgate had charged for the cheap generic ones. Strategy One are also open everyday and have longer hours then Southgate Computers....they have lost a customer for life!

I needed help building my first gaming pc so I went to Southgate computer, it was down the street and it was recommended to me. What I instructed them to do was finishing putting together the computer to put it simply. (ex: wires to be plugged in) Two months later, all of my usb ports are shortening. I go to a different computer store, on van born which i would highly recommend. They walked me through how the motherboard I picked out was never meant to go into the case in the first place. An establishment that boast over 25 years of experience shouldnt miss something only a novice would overlook. Now im left with a computer that most likely has a life of another month or two, hoping to deter others from going through what I did. Please do not do business here.

To really understand my review is to also understand the problems I was having with my custom built gaming machine. I had encountered some errors loading windows and quickly decided this was way past my knowledge of computers to fix myself. I took it to, I guess you would consider a competitor?! with the hopes of having it fixed in no time. 2 weeks go by and eventually their competitor tells me that all of my main components are fired. Motherboard, gfx card and possible issues with memory. For a moment I was taken back by just how many major issues I had even though I came in with just 1 (I thought) simple problem. I entered the competitors business with my head down and without hesitation picked up my PC and brought it right to Southgate Computers for a second opinion. I met with a young lady at the front desk who was very supportive and would listen to my sob story. I explained to her that I needed some information on some of the parts in my machine and if they could help me find Serial Numbers in case I had to look for warranty on those components. They happily assisted me in finding the serial numbers and spent roughly 5 min to hear what issues I had before and after the visit to their competitor. I was told 3 days wait and it was exactly 3 days from the time I took them my computer. They quickly found that my Solid State Drive or SSD had gone faulty one way or another and that none of my major components were Fried. When Southgate called the gentleman assisting me gave me all of the best options for a new SSD and even offered to install windows and get my machine back up and running. The call was short because I was still at work so I explained I will have to come into the store to talk about doing anything further, as my funds may not be exactly where I need them to do the extra stuff. I walked in and right away greeted by the same smiling face at the front desk. I gave her my name and wam! Computer came out looking good. They installed the new SSD and on top of that installed an operating system to hurry the process of getting back on my feet (FOR NO CHARGE!!!!!!!) Talk about customer service. They took an issue their competitor couldnt fix but gave me the customer service of someone who had major issues with their company. Talk about a class act. I really hope that if you have computer issues in the downriver area you are going to Southgate Computers.

Thay have very nice people that work there but not with the most expierence. For example, i brought in a graphics card for them to install into my computer for 40$. a few days after that they said it was a faulty graphics card so pretty much i just wasted 40$ but actually it was a simple bug on my computer that wouldnt let the softwate download.They also have ridiculously over priced hardware so if u know what u are doing (installing things into a computer) buy your hardware online for 40-70$ cheaper not including what they charge yo install it. I made the mistake of spending 600$ for a computer with a g3220 processor, 4g ram, and a gtx 730.So honestly if u want to save money and get a good cheap computer, they have desktops with i5 processor and 8g ram at The Computer Company for only 230$

I walked in there to get a quote on a dc jack repair my laptop wasnt charging i had told them that was the problem and i wanted it fixed and the tech was very rude and spoke to me like i was stupid i ended up taking it to ctek computers down the street from them on northline next to joeys he had it fixed and working within the hour i walked in A++ work and fast its been working great ever since thank you guys so much southgate is nothing compared to you

Very expensive and takes them forever to fix anything. After 4 days of waiting for parts I took my broken computer back from Southgate Computers and called MJ Computer Services who came to my hose and fixed it same day.

If youre looking to build a PC dont go here - Everything is marked up at least $20 minimum. Also the customer service is terrible and really arent that knowledgeable. Inside is dirty and seems unprofessional. Do not go here, its a scam.

Busy, but pleasant

Almost paid them 150$ for a Diagnosis and reinstallation of windows. Then found out Strategy one does it for 100$ less. Compare thier computer part prices to new egg too before going into this place. They tend to rip you off.
