ANYWAY, I TOOK THE PC BACK TO THE FOLKS I BOUGHT IT FROM TWICE AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I COULD HAVE SENT IT TO HP BUT I DIDNT WANT TO WAIT FOR WEEKS TO GET IT BACK. SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND COMPUTER INNOVATIONS. I TOOK THE PC TO THEM AND THEY CHECKED IT THOROUGHLY. FINDING NOTHING MUCH WRONG WITH IT, THEY SUGGESTED A NEW GRAPHICS CARD. I AGREED AND THEY INSTALLED WHAT THEY THOUGHT WOULD BE THE BEST FIT. I HAVE THE PC BACK HOME AND ITS WORKING GREAT. NO MORE BLACK SCREENS. THESE FOLKS ARE GREAT. These guys are knowledgeable, personable, and quick. I stripped a screw inside my laptop trying to get to the battery, and Computer Innovations got the screw out and recycled the old battery for me - for no charge! I was getting quotes from $45 to $90 from other pc repair shops in the area, so I was floored when they got done and told me I didnt owe anything. I have a huge amount of respect for this business, and if I ever get in a sticky IT situation again theyll be my first call.

About a week ago went into Computer Innovations to start my dream of a custom built gaming computer, didn’t have a lot of knowledge of everything I needed nor the skills to assemble it so Steve was there to assist me with everything, ran multiple quotes to fit my price range, never tried to up-sell me with anything I didn’t need. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Any PC questions you have or parts you need, this is the only place in town I recommend.

I have purchased two computers from Computer Innovations. One was a desktop PC a few years ago, and it was a great computer. Recently I decided I wanted a refurbished laptop so I stopped into the store and Steve, the owner, showed me a nice, affordable selection and I was able to leave the store with a perfect (for me) refurbished laptop for less than $400! I brought my computer in to have my fan repaired. They were upset that I did not purchase their anti malware program. I paid over 150.00 and picked up my computer as they said they fixed it. Now 2 weeks later my fan is not working and I cannot use my computer. Poor service and high prices.

Honestly this store is Springfield best kept secret when it comes to custom building. Granted they do charge a little more than what you might pay at Best Buy but you have to understand these people arent working for free and unlike Best Buy every individual customer experience is personalized and custom tailored to suit your needs. Honestly I dont know how I would have made it through some of my builds without them. Most of the rigs I build I sell and i specialize in having the computer im building be unique. Having then on hand to give me with parts no one else has has made a major difference in my clientele and my ability no offer what no one else can.

I was very impressed by the customer service and knowledge of the staff. I was only in town for a few hours, so they worked me into their schedule immediately. After testing my computer, they recommended a couple of items which would dramatically increase the speed of my computer. I was a little concerned that the recommendations were just a sales pitch. My concerns were alleviated when I started up my computer. Wow, they were correct in their recommendations. I definitely recommend this business for computer service.

Im kind of on the fence about these guys. They pale in comparison to my og computer dudes, which is South City Computer in St. Louis, but I am in Springfield for the summer so I had to go else where. When I went in, my laptop screen was messed up because I dropped my laptop, and I figured Id need to just buy a new one. Now, I NEED my laptop for work and school, but Computer Innovations assured me it was fixable (for less than buying a new laptop) after a diagnosis, so I decided to wait it out and borrow computers/ go to the library for work. Well... nearly a month later and they broke my original screen, my laptop was no longer able to turn on, and the price to fix the now failing motherboard (which might not have fixed everything anyway) was above the price range. I had to buy a new laptop anyway, after wasting nearly a month of productive work.Im not saying they dont know what theyre doing, or are trying to rip people off, they are just not time efficient and bad at communication. I played phone tag with them a lot, and I was the one who had to call back to find out the final verdict after 9 days of radio silence. South City Computer, which I mentioned earlier, also has this policy where if you pay extra, theyll look at your computer that day and make it a fixing priority. I found that very nice when my laptop broke in the middle of college finals. I didnt have that option here, and I think nearly a month to fix a laptop is ridiculous (especially since I ended up just buying a new one anyway). So, Im on the fence about them.If youre looking to buy a computer or you dont need your computer fixed in a timely matter, then Im sure theyre fine. But if you need your laptop for anything time sensitive, maybe go elsewhere.

Prices are very good compared to other stores. In-store warranty was INCLUDED WITH THE COMPUTER. So I got a 1 year guarantee on my purchase without having to shell out another $100-$150 for protection plan. No unnecessary upsells. Staff was very friendly and not pushy at all. Purchased a computer from this store. They went so far as to actually check every part of the computer to make sure it worked. They also removed all bloatware and made sure all the drivers were up to date. Had a video playback issue, which they helped me fix in short order. Great service, polite staff who know what they were talking about. Would recommend for any and all computer needs (This is no longer the case).Edit: Recently brought my laptop in for the lid to be replaced. In the process they broke my webcam. When I brought it in to be repaired they refused to let me enter without a mask, despite the fact that I have a medical exemption from wearing a mask, meanwhile their employees are in the back without masks on. The refusal to honor fact that I cant wear a mask, while allowing their employees to not wear masks, means I will never return there, nor could I in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

Computer Innovations is AMAZING! I had a VERY long and tedious situation with my laptop and the manufacturer and they took care of it so well, going above and beyond what any other computer store would have done. I will ALWAYS be going to them for my computer needs!

Steve restored my computer back to where it was prior to having it screwed up by another store in Springfield. This was done at no charge. The other store sold me a printer and tried to install it, but couldnt due to viruses. When I picked it up, the printer had been installed but did not work. Took the tower back and was told in needed better security and that was put in, but favorites deleted and email not restored. Steve was happy to restore the missing items. His tech could not find the viruses and I dont have confirmation from the first store they exist.

A few years ago I went to this store to buy a cable for my computer. I found one that looked like it was the right cable. I paid cash for it. On the way out I saw another cable with different ends which was the one I needed. I asked if I could make an exchange and they said yes but...we dont give cash refunds so I would have to wait for the cashier to cut a check. Were talking $2 something and I hadnt left the store yet.Last week my wife, totally blind, left her computer with Steve, the owner and Steve gave it to Kevin, his tech. My wife made it abundantly clear with both Steve and Kevin not to remove a very special program designed specifically for the blind called JAWS because it is very expensive to replace; somewhere around $895. All she wanted done was to have her e-mail problem fixed (not sending or receiving).When we picked up her computer we paid $79.00. We took it home and discovered that one of the two JAWS programs had been removed. Kevin took the liberty of remove one of them (he told us he didnt know that he did), and thats why he didnt say anything about it. The e-mail problem still exists.Beware of Kevin! His ego is bigger than his computer skills. He proved to us that he doesnt know what hes doing...and Steve says Kevin is the best tech he has.

It was well worth the 2 hour trip to Springfield. Im very happy with my system and hope to do more business with them when I can!You always get more bang for your buck with custom built systems AND they have an awesome warranty for complete tower systems they build.Me: 15+ year IT career in computer systems and network administration. Intermediate to advanced level expertise in troubleshooting, fixing, and building systems.I was on the hunt for a new computer that supported some specific use-cases for me (onboard NVMe support, boot from NVMe, and multiple PCIe x4, x8, or x16 slots for a 10Gb card and USB 3.1, potentially the NVMe). In searching pre-built systems at the big-box stores I wasnt finding anything in a decent price-range (and even these didnt have EVERYTHING I needed). So, I went to Springfield to shop out a better pre-built system or gather parts to custom build something. I opted for the latter once I saw their selection of new computer parts. They made some suggestions that I hadnt thought of and understood all of my needs completely. They didnt try to up-sell me, but gave me the correct information for my situation.Although I am able to build systems I opted to have them build it while I did some other shopping in Springfield. I appreciate the care that they put into the details.Im VERY happy to support this local business!

The computer broke two days after they fixed it and it wasnt really under warranty apparently as Dell parts are fragile and breakage isnt covered. You were too hard plugging the power cord in Although its amazing we can plug our cell phones and our other two laptops in no problem but apparently we cant plug the Dell in. I was willing to pay the part which they were going to charge me 35 bucks for but apparently I still have to pay another $100 for the tech again so I guess the labor isnt under warranty either. So the warranty has so many loopholes I wouldnt consider the warranty and guarantee anything to count on. So we were out over $180. They were going to give us a deal of about $135 to fix it again even though it was only within a 10 days from the time I picked it up to the time I got it back into the shop. It took several days the first time I brought it in and at first they thought it was the motherboard which we were not even have any issues with the motherboard. I wouldnt recommend this place.

We were in need of replacing our old home computer. We first called and spoke with Kierston, who answered questions we had regarding what we needed. How refreshing it was to actually talk with another human being! Time saving and easy! The store was user friendly. Peaceful, no blaring music, and easy to talk with Kierston and Steve. Kierston listened to what we wanted and didnt want. An hour later we walked out with our new computer! We will be lifetime customers at Computer Innovations. Thank you so much Kierston and Steve!

Solid place, been going here about 14 plus or so years now.

Went in to get a DVI to VGA adapter. the price was super high. They wanted $19.99 for the part found it on Newegg for &3.38 + 1.99 shipping and handling. So I only spent $5.37 through Newegg instead of 4 times as much through them. They are defiantly a rip off, check your prices on line before you go in to buy a part. I am surprised they are still in business but I guess people dont do their research before they buy there, so they get away with charging super high prices.

Had a deadline fast approaching as the director of a Visual FX Studio, and my main workstation started throwing serious fits. Wasted a week trying to pinpoint the problem to no avail. I brought it in to this shop and despite my PC having over $25,000-worth of the latest hardware, Steve and Crystal displayed they were incredibly knowledgeable and read-up on the latest technology, but (surprisingly) lacked the condescending tone that their less-informed competition down the street always seemed to have with me in the past. They told me they were confident that they could diagnose and fix the problem in a day. I went home and received a call just 2 hours later, they had my workstation up and running like it never has been before. Not only did I meet our deadline, my workflow dramatically improved as a result of bringing it there. If you want something done the right way the first time - bring it there. Could not recommend them enough, they know what they are doing and couldnt be friendlier.
