I first started climbing in April 2019 and haven’t really looked back. Everybody there is super friendly, and all the staff is very knowledgeable. If you become a member you also get a nice discount among other perks. The climbing competitions are also really cool to watch and participate in. Just a really cool vibe there
This place was a diamond in the rough. I’m always happy to see Walltopia building gyms in unexpected places. Friendly staff, good setting, and reasonable pricing. The only thing missing was a lead climbing partner!! ;) thanks!! Traveling for work, this always is a nice break.
Me and my husband love climbing here. The gym tends to set hard routes and rate them low, so at times it feels like youre not making progress. If youre an experienced rock climber then you may after a couple of weeks find yourself running out of new projects. Friendly staff, great for kids and kids parties. Lots of yoga and personal training classes if you dont want to learn alone. Overall good place to climb.
Bright clean environment with lots of knowledgeable and helpful staff. Plenty of walls to climb around on where bouldering or belay climbing. Routes are constantly being updated so their is almost always something new to climb on at least 1 of the walls at any time.
Awesome Place! Friendly and Helpful Staff. There is a full retail section as well. They dont gouge you on the prices either. Nothing worse than trying to buy shoes online! So thankful to have a climbing gym in our area of this caliber. Very accommodating to children as well. I have 2 kids and its hard for me to get away on my own, or find something that we can all do together. They loved it and are ready to go back.
Love this place but when I left my hand was covered in blood because my cuticles split
Every person was wearing a mask and respectfully keeping distance from each other. My faith yet and I had a blast on a cold day and felt safe the whole time. Great experience! We will be back again soon!
Great place to climb with a variety of attractions. Staff were also friendly and helpful.
Awesome time here the grading is tough but Im not complaining
Love climbing at Zenith! Great friendly atmosphere, fun routes, and 4 auto belays for just getting in some laps when I come alone. I am just getting back into climbing after a couple years and find the routes offered give me a good workout and help me to improve. Also, I find it funny that people said this place was expensive. I was a member at a climbing gym in Oregon and one in Virginia and they were both over $100/month. I think the price point is actually perfect! I dropped the Oregon membership because it was too expensive and the place was always packed. Feel like I get a lot more for a reasonable membership fee here.
The gym is a good size. Staff is always helpful when available and overall a good place to spend some time.
What a great place for kids to get rid of some energy & gain athleticism!
Ive been here twice now and will be picking up a membership soon. This place is amazing, the staff, the facility, the equipment are all amazing. I used to climb obsessively years ago and am now introducing my two children to this awesome sport. I cant tell you how pleasantly surprised I was with everyone and everything at Zenith. Both of my kids are hooked, and I am certain we will be long time patrons.
Strict mask policy as per their receptionist. This place use to be fun but I will not be playing dress up for Zenith. Shame on Zenith and their employees for perpetuating psychotic delusions of fear and panic over a cold virus with a 99.995% survival rate.
I really enjoy this gym, routes are replaced regularly, facility is clean and the staff is very friendly. It can get a little busy at times if you rely on using the auto belays but I have always been able to climb.
Fun place, kids had a blast, friendly and helpful staff
I appreciate how clean it is and how often they redo the routes. pretty good gym!
My son loves climbing here! The routes are changed on a regular basis, so theres always a new challenge for him. The auto-belays are nice because it means that he can climb on his own, since neither his father or I are certified to belay. They also offer camps and teams for youth, which is an awesome opportunity for kids in our area.
The staff is great, very knowledgeable and very helpful. Currently going as a members free guest but definitely considering getting a membership.
My kids LOVE this climbing center. The staff is super chill and totally ready to help...just ask! 😁All the gear you need is available to rent here. Zenith also has teams and different programs.Learning the ropes (pun intended 😜) is not nearly as traumatic as one might feel before stepping through the doors! My suggestion is to definitely try it out (even if you’re an “adult”).Definitely a great way to test your physical and for some their mental capabilities. What a great feeling of accomplishment!!!You can only fail when you tell yourself you can’t do something. Trying with your utmost effort will provide a huge confidence boost... anyway... two thumbs up from this gal! 🤗👍🏼👍🏼😘
Really nice gym. Great for competitions. I hope the have more. Theres more open space so there was a lot of room. They could have had more seating available. There was just one small section where you really could watch climbers. Loved the food truck they got, Holy Cow. Cant wait to come back for more comps!
Very clean gym with solid standards and well maintained equipment. I was disappointed that after signing waivers and logging in for the first time that it took staff 15 minutes to interact with us as we stood at the front looking for someone manning the front or really any interaction from staff. I’m sure if I was a regular who was familiar with the staff it would have been better, but as first timers at this gym I guess I expected to have faster interaction with staff. Once we had staff check us in everything was fine, I just wish we didn’t feel like a complete bother to the staff. Would definitely come back! I just don’t think that it will become my regular gym for membership now.
I got an amazing massage at Zenith! Merry is so intuitive and made me feel comfortable. She really helped relieve some of the backpain I was having. You dont even have to be an athlete to get a massage from her. She gave me a very relaxing massage!
Great climbing, clean, personable staff! Great place, highly recommended!
Edited: Ive returned to Zenith after a year away, and it looks like theyre really making positive strides toward setting more routes for beginners and intermediate climbers! Id still like to see some 5.8-5.9 on the lead wall and a few more interesting V2-V3 boulders, but the management really seems to be listening to feedback. My daughter loves coming in here because they do a great job with the kids area, and Ill be returning monthly for sure.Original review:Im an intermediate climber who has visited 8 sport and bouldering gyms around the country, and I was very excited for the opening of this new gym here in my hometown! While I dont doubt the dedication of the staff or the owners in terms of their love for climbing, Im disappointed in the lack of inspiring intermediate routes and boulder problems here. I tried a month-long membership and came in most days of that month, but there didnt seem to be a consistent schedule for re-setting the walls. There is no feedback system or comment card box, so theres no way for climbers to share with other climbers whether routes seem above, below, or on-grade. The atmosphere is good and the holds are great, it just seems that there are two types of setting: ladders for beginners, and difficult routes with a lot of pulling, big moves, and dynos.I think you could retain a lot more business from new climbers (and appeal to older, overweight, or long-time climbers returning to the sport after months or years away) by adding beginner and intermediate routes with interesting moves that dont require a ton of pulling -- dihedral climbs with more push than pull, slab climbs with large foot holds requiring balance, and traverse routes would all be a great start. This facility is great for experienced climbers and kids parties, but the new climbers I observed in the space while I was there seemed frustrated that there wasnt much they could hold onto.If you want to retain new climbers and encourage them to pursue the sport (since its so fantastic), a facility more conducive to their success would be a better way to do business.I may still come back if the intermediate setting improves and theres some way to provide direct feedback on route comment cards.
Place is a blast. My kids love going and so do I. Staff is friendly and helpful
Great place to go and hang out. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have routes of varying difficulties and a wall for young kids to enjoy.Update: Now that weve climbed at gyms in KC, STL, and Tulsa Zenith is still our favorite. The route setters at Zenith do an incredible job.
We were recently looking for a fun and unique venue for a 9 year old birthday party and decided on rock climbing at Zenith. With over 25 kids in attendance and close to 60 people including adults, they were able to facilitate our needs way beyond expectation. I cant thank them enough for such a wonderful experience from both a staffing angle and a facility angle. The team at Zenith excelled at providing a clean, safe and fun environment while doing an exceptional job at challenging the participants with positivity and encouragement.I would recommend them to anyone looking to host a party.
Nice clean gym with a variety of climbs at different difficulties. Great place for kids, but the staff also treats the adults as kids. Being an experienced climbing, I knew beforehand how to belay but the staff insisted on me conforming to their techniques and foreshadowed the idea of revoking my belaying privilege if I didnt do it their way. I understand that they are enforcing the rules for safety reasons, but if they are going to have everyone sign a waiver that says they will not be responsible for any injuries then allow the customers to proceed at their own risk. Im sure us as the customers will also very much like to avoid injuries of any degree. Hopefully next they wont treat me like I dont know what Im doing.
Ive known Everett and Audrey for a long time. They are great people and did an AMAZING job with Zenith! This gym is a HUGE step up from what climbers had in the area before! They have put a lot of time and effort into this place and are greatly appreciated by all the climbers in the area. Ive never held a birthday party here but every time I see the kids there they look like they are having a blast! Thank you for your sacrifices to make this place a possibility!P.S. If youve had a negative experience here, please give it another shot! Im sure they would totally work with you to make your next experience better!
There is always a new challenge waiting as routes change frequently. Staff is helpful and definitely knowledgeable. Its a great environment to get away from digital frenzy.
Zenith is GREAT!! They have done a great job at providing a place for both kids and adults to climb. My husband and I love bringing our nieces and nephews (ages 3-14) to climb. They have so much fun! We, ourselves, also have a lot of fun climbing. Thank you Zenith!!
Awesome routes that get changed up often. Everyone is friendly- its easy to quickly find a climbing partner if you came without. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a fun kids area with a slide, some bouldering and top rope routes too. Unless I have an outdoor trip planned, there is nowhere else Id rather be.
As a member of the Springfield climbing community being without a gym for a few years and waiting for this place to open, Im happy to say that it blew away my expectations. Im especially glad to have it here this summer so I dont have to climb in this heat! Friendly and encouraging staff and members; all around fantastic experience! Happy to have a place like this in Springfield.
Whether you are a novice or experienced climber you will find this top-quality facility an absolute pleasure. The staff, management, and owners are all great people who genuinely care about helping climbers of all levels reach their goals. If you are looking to improve your fitness, have fun, and join a community of diverse people, then Zenith is the place for you.
The employees are first class in knowledge, experience and professionalism. I cant walk in without somebody cheerfully greeting me.My favorite part about Zenith is that its immaculately clean and clutter free. The gym has enough wall space that I rarely, if ever, have to wait on a route to open up. There are a ton of routes and boulder problems to solve. I think the route setters are a bit evil though - in a good way.I havent tried the yoga classes yet, but have plans to.This is a first class climbing gym and Springfield is lucky to have walls of this caliber.
This is an amazing climbing gym! The owners and staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. The walls are reset consistently and often, and there is a wide range of creative routes for all climbing levels. They also offer yoga!
Clean, friendly, state-of-the-art facility. Friendly and expert staff are more than willing to answer questions to help you reach your goals at any skill level.Others below have given poor ratings because they dont like the basic safety and liability rules. 3rd parties are not allowed to teach/learn on premises for safety and insurance reasons. Everyone signs the same waivers. No reason to cry.
My first time rock climbing and it was great! The staff were all supper friendly and more than willing to offer advice and encouragement. I will definitely be coming back.
Great climbing center. The materials and equipment are top notch, the staff is wonderful, and the environment is great. Several of the negative reviews of this center seem to hinge on a few vocal people simply flaunting their inexperience or limited understanding of the nature of climbing (things like expecting to be allowed to teach yourself to belay without any previous experience or being angry about liability precautions and personal waivers). Climbing is a dangerous sport, thats all there is to it, but the staff and owners provide very good instruction and policies to ensure everything is as safe and enjoyable as can be expected. The facilities are kept clean and maintained, and it seems like theyre really working to provide all kinds of additions (yoga classes, fitness center, etc.) to make it a well rounded center and a good experience for everyone. Plus, the owners will bend over backwards to make sure everyone gets as much out of it as they possibly can and that any issues are addressed quickly and efficiently (literally, theyll bend over backwards. Theyre climbers, theyre very flexible). Again, great center.
I love this climbing gym dearly. Before it was opened springfield’s climbing option was a gym called big rock which shut down a couple years before zenith was founded. Though big rock had a very open and welcoming atmosphere it paled in comparison to zeniths relaxed and cleanly environment. Zenith’s staff has always been very friendly and inviting and because of this I’ve continued climbing here since shortly after it was opened. I joined the youth climbing team twice and found it very motivating and rewarding for me and the rest of the climbers I trained with. The coach, Connor Dykes, does a great job at encouraging his teams to concur their fears and push their person limits on every challenge faced in the climbing gym and competitions. As well as the rest of the staff. Zenith is a great place to climb for beginners and advanced climbers, the routes/problems are challenging and innovative regardless of whether your climbing v1’s or v7’s. I would strongly recommend checking out the gym if your passing through springfield or looking for a new adventure :)
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the facility is beautiful. There are climbing routes for all abilities and levels, including auto belay and two bouldering walls. The prices are reasonable and classes for belay certification are offered, as well as yoga, and a separate area for children to climb.
Zenith itself was a very clean place with a lot to do. However, the staff was very mean and pushy. I am a beginner rock climber and they did not help me one single bit! I bought the whole package and was then informed that I could not belay with my friend. I understand the rules and for insurance reasons but they could have still talked to me about it before I bought everything. They told me I could get certified but would have to schedule for a lesson at a later date. They were also very understaffed and had three employees working with about 12 adults and a birthday party attending. I will not be back to this joke of an establishment. Please think long and hard before you go here! Save your money!!
Always a great experience. Staff is kind and knowledgeable. My 6 year old loves to join and theyve done a great job creating a fun environment
This place is wonderful. The staff is ridiculously friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are great. I honestly dont have a single complaint.
Great staff, great climbing🤙
Horrible experience! The workers were very rude and unhelpful. My friend and I went in and bought the whole day pass with a harness, shoes, chalk bag, and belay device. It wasnt till we got every thing on that we were told that we couldnt belay ourselves. They didnt offer to give us a quick lesson but insisted on us taking a class that we would have to schedule! We decided to stay and free climb for a bit and then decided to teach ourselves how to belay. Apparently you cannot even practice the techniques and hooking up. Absolute waste of money! Will not be back and I hope whoever reads this decides to take their business elsewhere! RIPOFF!
Tons of routes for all skill levels, bouldering, super friendly and helpful staff, yoga, training areas, opportunities for involvement with events and classes, and reasonable prices. What more can you ask for? Great for singles, couples, families, cant recommend highly enough!
I was completely new to climbing when I started going to Zenith. I was nervous but the staff and other climbers made me feel welcome and encouraged me to keep going. I feel like every time I go here it is a fun, challenging experience and a great workout!
Zenith is a great place for individuals and families to pursue lifelong healthy hobbies. There is a great sense of community and the people that work there are very friendly. The climbing routes are fun and the facility is top notch.
Hottest New thing in the Springfield area! Being able to join the art of ariel and get incredible fitness and strength is awesome! I highly recommend checking out Zenith Climbing and Ariel!!
I am very impressed with the quality of routes as well as the staff. Springfield has been well overdue for this place. They have cultivated a welcoming community environment where anyone can feel at home.
I enjoy coming here to climb. It is one of the best if not the best I have been to. Their price is great and they offer a variety of in store gear and apparel for a reasonable price. Their climbing shoe selection tends to be pretty competitive pricewise even with online prices depending on what you are looking for. The staff are friendly, polite, and welcoming as you walk in.I prefer to get my workout and climb time in early and am loving the new hours for monthly members which now starts at 630 am for those with a monthly membership. They have done well providing a variety of routes with varying difficulty. There was a time their routes seem to have a gap in them and were either quite easy or seemingly quite difficult. Over the last few months they have done well filling that gap and providing multiple routes in varying difiiculty ratings. Their bouldering walls are set up well also with different types of problems to solve.
This climbing center is incredible! They offer bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing. With problems suitable for all levels of climbers. They even have a yoga studio where they offer classes, and have open hours where you can practice yoga or stretch by yourself.Quality is on par with climbing centers I have been to in San Fransisco, Chicago, Berlin, and Copenhagen, but priced way more affordably. They have a very nice campus and systems wall setup where you can diversify your training. Also, there is a small gym area with machines and free weights. The walls themselves are built by Walltopia, which are both high quality in design and aesthetically pleasing. All of the staff is super friendly and helpful, but most importantly they emphasize on safety.**In depth detail**They have three separate areas to climb one is for top rope / lead and the other two are for bouldering. One bouldering area has a cave with hanging problems, and tops out where you do not have to climb or drop down. The other wall has a less aggressive angle great for new climbers. All of the walls offer a variety of difficulty from v0/5.5 to extremely difficult.Compared to other gyms the ratings are a little more difficult, but when you go out doors or to other gyms you will appreciate how the setters rated and setup the problems.Oh and they have two showers if you ever need to climb/train and go somewhere right after.
Having been to many different gyms around the country Im happy to say this is one of the higher quality ones. It may not be the biggest but it is well maintained, well staffed, and has some really great people running it.
It was awesome 👍 the 1st time hit a 5.6 and half of a 5.7
The walls and overall facility are fantastic. They have a little fitness center too, but it isnt anything to write home about. The place is a bit smaller than some other climbing gyms Ive been to and it can get pretty crowded on a busy evening.
I am a member here and appreciate the facility and people so much. Everyone is kind and welcoming while the routes are all ranging in difficulty and grade. A great place all around!
Thank you for bringing this kind of gym to town. My girlfriend and I were anxious for about a year and now we are loving it! Great place to build strength and improve your climbing skills.
Amazing facility! Beautifully maintain and helpful staff. This is definitely my new go to place when I visit Springfield.
Best climbing expirience Ive had in years. The staff and friendly environment are amazing. Its nice to have a world class gym in the small town of Springfield, Mo. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Awesome place, awesome workers. They even have toddler yoga and toddler climbing classes. I really recommend this climbing gym!
My son loves this place.
I dont think the staff at Zenith Climbing Center should be concerned with the deleterious claims of these uninformed, would-be climbers. Extensive surveys have not been conducted, and the ease of likening a personal problem to a bad experience holds no accountability.I for one have climbed at Zenith for more than 4 weeks now, without one complaint! Indeed, climbing/belaying are not challenges for me, which makes a positive experience come very easily. However, two or (potentially) three employees hosting a room full of people who all need different assistance does not make their job easy. Lets all be clear: Everett Pauls does not have a reason to heed the complaints of inexperience while helping to ensure a safe session for entire groups of people. Shall we say? For one example.
Great routes, helpful staff and awesome facilities/classes! Best gym in the area by far!
Nice and clean. Owners are both super friendly and helpful. Good routes and great atmosphere.
The place is legit! they have top of the line walls, holds, and mats. Staff is excellent!
Its a tad spendy but there is tons of space and lots of climbing areas. The staff are very helpful and pleasant
State of the art facility, awesome staff, welcoming atmosphere, and incredible quality climbs. This place is a great go to for serious training or beginners alike.
Awesome place. Good value, clean facilities, and a very fun environment for newbies (me) and pros.
One of the best climbing gyms in the surrounding area! Friendly staff and tons of fun to be found.
By far the cleanest climbing gym Ive been to, Extremely nice staff, fun and challenging technical routes, and lots of space.
Fantastic facility. Fantastic pricing. The owners are awesome people.
I love the friendly enviornment here, theres so much variety with routes and such a kind staff!
Great facility and helpful staff. Fun place for kids birthday parties.
Not under $100 dollars so it wasn’t worth the party
Beware! Literally a complete waste of money if you are not a certified belayer. For the cost being as high as it is, they should teach you how to belay. Id also like to mention the unfriendly staff, which told us we could not practice at all in their facility. I will never go here again and never recommend it to anyone.
After I went to see an imax movie on national parks and watched rock and mountain climbers see the beautiful views I instantly fell in love and wanted to do what they did so I got on Google searched for rock climbing gyms near me and zenith was the closest I was nervous at first cause I never climbed in my life well rock climbed that is important in army and afraid of heights lol but as soon as I got there the very nice gentleman at the counter gave me tour help me out with shoes and harness and even encouraged me to do a V0 which is the easiest problem there is and I completed it and he gave me a motivating fist pump. Lol. Then I came back Saturday with my wife and daughter and the female behind counter helped us get our 1 year old almost 2 lol into a harness great help no complaints yet everyone motivates each other to push to next level or even next hand holds.
Its super fun and worth it! Not only is it fun for veteran climbers, but its really fun for beginners, also.
Thankful to have the nicest gym in the Midwest 5 minutes from my door step!
Great staff and friendly members
The climbing comuntiy is so lucky to have people that care so much as to open a place like this. staff is AMGA certified so you know you are receving the best of instruction. everyone is so helpful, cheerful, and careing. the setters are skilled and the routes are absolutly wonderful. I love this place, and the staff as well. thankyou so much for all your hard work.
Fantastic climbing gym full of interesting routes and an overall welcoming atmosphere.
A really cool place that makes it fun to stay in shape.
An incredibly welcoming and encouraging environment for new climbers.
Large climbing areas, plenty of routes for every skill level.
I climb here all the time and love it!
Austin was awesome and delivered great customer service.
The atmosphere is fun and the staff is engaging, friendly and helpful.
Awesome place to climb. Just a bit too expensive to take a family 😯
Great place to climb, work out, hang out and meet people!
Nice clean gym. very friendly staff
The guy at the front desk was rude and very unhelpful. I would not suggest taking your family here
For the kids
Excellent gym.
