Great little store, not much in terms of a horror section but has most of the classics. Huge selection of used books at a great price as well. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

I was looking for a place in the Golden Triangle Area to have a Bible personalized and I KNOW the Lord led me to The Book Mart! Ms. Carolyn was beautifully pleasant and personalized my Bible on the spot! The staff is knowledgeable, the atmosphere is anointed, and the books are amazing! Can’t wait to bring my children back to read and try the food!!May God continue to bless this place ABUNDANTLY!

Much better than I expected from a small town. You might not find every book you are looking for, but you become attracted to the vintage, unique collection of used books they have on the second floor. All in all, if you are looking for a cozy warm culturally rich environment, this place is the one

Please correct hours listed on line. Drove a ways because it states they close at 5:30, arrive at 5:05 to find a note on door stating they close at 5.

Prices okay but service/friendliness is ????. I went in today with some family from out of town. There were 3 people at the cash register. When we went to pay for the items we bought they said absolutely nothing to us, even when we actively engaged with them. Not even a hello or have a nice day response when we had said hello and have a nice day. I really don’t think I am that demanding, I just don’t care for rudeness from the places I spend money.

VERY disappointing. More like a flea market than a bookstore. Having been to Square Books in Oxford, I expected a university town to have a book with charm and a literary feel. More like a flea market. Books torn up because they are crammed onto shelves they dont fit on. Others jumbled and stacked on top of each other. No rhyme or reason to the selection of books they do have; highly unorganized. Boxes everywhere. Outdated shelving and style to the store (carpeted). They seem to be trying to be Wal-Mart rather than a bookstore (candy bar shelf at checkout; place is stocked with more clothes than books...watches, pillows, giant wooden crosses---they sell everything --not just books). Nice people there, but they need some training in retail presentation and maybe some employees who are readers...) Or just change name to Gift Shop--calling it a bookstore is deceptive to those of us who truly love southern literature...

Came in here & was told we couldnt shop in the used childrens book area because they rented it out for a party. Meanwhile the cafe was empty. Who rents out and blocks off a book section of a book store?

Its a small local bookstore with a unique variety of MSU attire, gift items, a coffee counter, and tons of kids books and toys. The selection downstairs is mostly bestsellers and classics, but theres a treasure trove of used books upstairs. (Prices range from 99¢ to $3 for the used books.) I was able to find several used books today (best sellers from the early 90s), many of which have been difficult to find. Its not a huge bookstore, but its a lovely one for a small town, and much friendlier than the alternative (B&N) that doesnt appear interested carrying books at all.

Such a wide variety of books to browse through! If you have a book in mind that they dont have, they can typically get it in for you within just a few days! Mrs. Carolyn and the entire staff are so welcoming and friendly!! Stop by the cafe and try a frozen turtle frappe. You wont regret it!!

Nice place. The attic (used book flooor) is categorized, but many volumes are shelved in the wrong place. But the price of used books is reasonable (1 to 3 dollars), there are several comfy lounging chairs, its never crowded, so searching the stacks for classic works is part of the fun.Street level is a traditional independent bookstore. Heavy on arts & crafts, religious, best sellers, local and regional interests, etc. Prices are PSR, for most part.Staff are courteous and helpful. There is a dining nook where coffee, sandwiches, pastries, and light lunch is available, but Ive never tried it.

It is a quaint bookstore that has a moderate selection of new bestsellers, Christian books, children books, and some genre books. Like another reviewer mentioned, the selection is, however, fairly limited and doesnt have much in the way of non-fiction or academia. There is a cafe attached to the store with some MSU merchandise, but as a bookstore it is lacking. I really wish Starkville had a decent bookstore with a wide selection.
