First build, so played overly cautious about where to drop off my car. Did enough homework and “the shop” kept being uttered, amongst a few others. Placed a call, discussed what options would be, get ballpark prices. Everything was in order, the bill would he similar to other shops. Asked my referrals, followed a email to jimmy. Prompt response back with everything being spoken clear about crystal clear, no shady corners cut. Asked for no special treatment but just simple buisness an respect, got that and then some. After going with the options I had chose for the motor, about 2 week turn around with parts shipping included! Wait time impressive for covid delaying everything and throughout the experience was always given the truth, whether good or bad. dropped off a car with a panel off and 2 pistons beat to hell. Picked a car up where the master technician and jimmy(owner) waited a hour and half past closing so i can pick it up eager driving from another state! Small things i dont look past. The Shop does great business, and better yet a honorable man and a strong woman behind. I cant stress it enough, i didnt ask for special treatment . Just ended up gaining people i see as family now. Id just write a 2 sentence review, but they deserved a real breakdown of how a autoshop should run

Jimmys son, Nick(I believe), checked me in and helped me carry my exhaust and cats inside. I have to say, Nick was very professional and friendly. Excellent customer service. Overall, Im extremely pleased with the service I received. Pricing was very fair. The job was straight forward and Jimmy went the extra mile to tack weld my exhaust in case of a possible failure(future rust, corrosion, high center, etc).They knew I drove an hour and a half to get there and gave me a courtesy call when the job was finished. We took 2 cars so we just grabbed food and did some local shopping. Shop was beautiful. I used to be a lube tech back in the day and seeing the shop with all the cars made me wish I started at a place like that.Another shop(who I wont name) didnt even want to touch my car. Seems odd to me as I had all the parts. Who would turn down work in this economy? They wont ever get my money thats for sure. The Shop CT earned all the good reviews youre reading here.

I originally went in for a Stg 2 clutch install. I provided the parts and James and his crew delivered great results. I went back for some dent repair work and again I’m very happy with the results. I will absolutely use TheShopCT again for any other work.

Amazing place. If you are even a little interested in enthusiast cars and in the Bridgeport/new haven area please check them out. I knew the alignment was off on my 21 WRX and the steering wheel wasnt centered, dealership told me it was fine, they fixed it.

My car was tuned by Mike Botti, and although I am sure he could’ve done my Stage 2 map in his sleep, he still took the time to do multiple dyno pulls and even took my car for a test drive to make sure everything was running to his standards. Brought my Evo IX here for a turbo upgrade and some cams along with some other things to support the build. Along with that was timing belt and balance shaft belt, etc. Got the car back and it was running great. Lasted about 1,000 miles and the balance shaft belt broke, got in the timing belt and jumped time causing all the valves to smash the pistons. I call them letting them know the situation. The wife said Jimmy would call me back. Never got a call. So I called again, no answer. They seemed to remember my number on their caller ID and not pick up when I called them. I called them on a different number and the wife picked up again and said Jimmy was busy and would call me back. Never got a call. Pretty upset with this unprofessionalism at this shop as I paid a nice chunk of change and I got treated very poorly.

I own a 16 Subaru Wrx that was brought to The Shopct to for a monster build. Big turbo, sti drivetrain, built iag motor, stoptech big brakes and a ton of other stuff. Boy the shop ct surprised me, when the wrx was done made 712hp 620tq 😱🤯 Mikey botti tuned. The shopct most definitely knows what theyre doing. Jimmy would call me to keep me updated while the build was going. Great experience, treated like family, my kids loves the shopct, and till this day if I need help with the wrx Jimmy is always willing to lend a happy hand and technical support. Honestly 2 years later and treatment is the same, like family. Thank you The Shopct! Not many places like you.

If you (futute customer) are reading this and think about going for service CAUTION: tread carefully. I went here a couple of months ago for a tune so I dropped off my car and filed the release form, got a call later saying they did a diag to ensure a proper dyno run and they found out that my wastegate was leaking, my intercooler was leaking and my spark plugs needed gapping, subaru spark plugs are pregapped so you shouldnt gap them but I said whatever. Got there at 5pm hoping that my car was going to be ready but that wasnt my case as I needed an accessport because they dont do open-source tuning (if you read in the reviews youll see someone who got an open-source tune from these guys) at that point the bill was 1300 to which I thought about leaving the tune for another day since I bought the accessport. To my surprise the next day after driving the car to work, in the afternoon the car wasnt turning on, only cranking, so I decide to check for basic things: fuel and spark. So I disconnect the sending fuel line while cranking, getting fuel, check ignition coil while cranking, getting spark, so I decide to check spark plugs and guess what? Spark plugs were fouled. Gap on the spark plugs was so close they were not making any spark at all. After this I decided to pick up my intercooler to test it and guess what? No leaks on the intercooler... very surprising. At that point I was just thinking to myself: well, I filled the release form and I already paid so theres nothing I can do so I decided to let it go... until today. Im driving on the highway on my way home when someone pulls up next to me and wants to race (for clarifications yes, I had my car tuned by someone else) so just to please the feller I raced and when Im done with the race I look at my accessport and BAM! 10psi of boost. I was thinking to myself damn I guess its time to buy a new turbo, but hold that thought ladies and gentlemen lets make sure and take a look at the turbo. Take a wild guess ladies and gentlemen! Yep! You guessed right! (If you didnt thats fine no worries!) My up pipe had all bolts and nuts loose but Ive driven it for so long it now only has one bolt and one nut which was loose btw. So there you go! This is our (talking in plural here cause Im not the only one) testimonial and review from this place, this goes without mentioning the terrible customer service coming from Jimmy as I am a terrible mechanic and dont know what Im doing...Edit- Went today after Lisa called me on Monday to check my car and go over a couple of things, I really appreciate this kind of gesture since normally other places would be like screw that dude. So when I arrived today and brought the car in spoke with Jimmy and Mike I believe(I apologize if I got the name wrong) talked about how they worked on the car, even apologized about the intercooler thing as he might have given me the wrong one which again something I really appreciate. So making long words short: really appreciate the reach out, the explanations and education will be in touch with them once I rebuild my engine.

When every other “tuner” shop in Connecticut turned me away, The Shop welcomed me with open arms to solve my supposedly unsolvable issue of my locking lugnuts being stuck on my wheels. What we thought was gonna be a day or two project, Jimmy (the owner) turned into a 2 hour project and I can’t thank him enough.I was nervous to see how bad the problem was gonna be, and nervous to go to a “race car shop” with my rather boring car but once again, they welcomed me with open arms. Jimmy completed a basic tune to my 2012 WRX. He installed spark plugs, injectors, fuel pump, catless downpipe, and did a dyno tune. I could not have been happier with the results. For a very reasonable price, my car was putting out 292 HP to the wheels and doing 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a safe tune to bring their car to the next level without spending a ton

I contacted Jimmy via email about replacing the clutch in my Subaru. He responded very quickly asking what I was looking to do exactly and what modifications had been done already. He sent me a quote and I dropped off my car expecting to pick it up at the end of the next business day. To my surprise I got a call 6 hours later saying my car was ready to go! Lack of communication with customers and management of staff.Heard mix reviews about this shop and decided to let my experience determine my view, should of listened to the previous disappointed customers.Brought my vehicle in for a new built motor, Jimmy assures me he would supervise with his many decades of experience. Multiple signs of incompetence appeared at every step of speaking about the build. After speaking to their office and the owner I was guarantied full transparency of the build at every step. Disinformation and absence of communication was the outcome.They took apart half of my motor with no permission after Jimmy promised me he would communicate all major steps for the build. Mentioned he could not tackle it immediately but would call me at a future day to discuss the details of the build.Exposed electrical components, engine head ports uncovered and the turbo inlet side open to the the elements. I also have a very oil soaked interior and missing hardware do to their technician tossing everything inside of the vehicle with no actual organization of any kind.I would write more but it angers me every time I attempt to write in detail all of the events that led to this negative review. Be smart and take your vehicle elsewhere for any mechanical work that is not routine.

Stands behind his work a sub of his made mistake rebuilding my transmission Jimmy backed his brand and insisted on pulling transmission two more times to make sure was perfect even though I felt bad and said he didnt have to. Transmission shifts better than did when was brand new stock and this is with upgraded clutches rated for 900 hp. No nvh to speak of

I have a 2019 STI. Jimmy helped guide me to make sure I had the rest of the parts to successfully have my car protuned to where I wanted it while keeping the reliability. I own a 2018 wrx and came to this shop to get my first protune. I was scheduled for a 93oct tune with Mikey. The service they showed me was unbelievable. Jimmy and his team were really nice to me and gave me helpful advice and tips on what I should look for, for the certain power gains that I was aiming for. I went to The Shop to get some some pretty minor installs on my Subaru done, and to check it out since its one of the most reputable shops around. The owner, James, took the time to talk with me about making power on the FA platform, and was cool and helpful. If I decide to do something more serious with my car, this will be the only place I take it.

I’ve been to The Shop about a half-dozen times over the course of the past year. They’ve installed numerous upgrades to my Audi A6 - everything from suspension through engine modifications. After reoccurring issues with several local Audi dealers (with multiple vehicles - a6, a4, q5), I now use The Shop for all routine service/maintenance as well.They’ve always been courteous and professional, and I can trust Jimmy and his team to provide straight forward advice and recommendations. Everyone there seems to genuinely care about what they do, while at the same time, they’ve never tried to sell or promote unnecessary parts or service.The family-run nature of the business is far different from the sterile/processed experience I was receiving from the dealerships. Although the Audi service experience was incredibly high-end, the salesmanship and nickel-and-diming was brutal. I’ve found at The Shop that this is no one’s 9-to-5, it’s their livelihood, and they bring an entirely different level of customer appreciation and respect that enables me to trust them with making performance modifications to my car.

2021:Had to return for service and was really impressed with their professionalism and service.2017:I tried The Shop in Norwalk for the first time (APR dealer) and was impressed with the whole process. They are professionals that understand the importance of keeping your word with customer service. Will return and highly recommend.

Its a race car factory with family based feel and respect. They treated me better than the Dealership I bought my GTR from. I didnt get any up-sale pressure just told them what I wanted to do and the power I wanted to make. I found out the owner Jimmy is the master mechanic, other places the owners dont know anything just numbers and bills. This guy knew my project inside and out. Jimmy also warned me against doing something that saved me a ton of cash. This place is built like a dealership and ran like a race team.

Jimmy and his team our outstanding. Very few places offer the type of customer service that him and his team deliver day in and day out. I have had nightmares with a lot of shops until I stumbled upon Jimmy and his team, my car exclusively gets all performance and maintenance work done with The Shop CT!

I got a job done there a couple of months ago include ( fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, injectors as well as intake plus tune). The Installation went fine except for the fact that the mechanic placed his lamp on top of my ohhh intercooler denting all the fine. They tried to straighten them up but it wasnt the same, the other problem I had was the air filter original box its all scratched up with a with many marks, even though I may not use it for now I like to keep all the parts in good shape so i can put all the accesories back once i sell the car. I honestly even though, they nice respectful and friendly would not recommend them after this bad experience.

The Shop in Norwalk along with Jimmy and the gang are the only guys to go to for modifications and engine / exhaust work in Southwestern CT and beyond. Japanese, American muscle or exotics, theyve got you covered. Appreciate having such a knowledgeable asset in the area!

Great communication and customer service throughout the entire process/servicing of my car. Prices were fair (at least I think so), everything was done quickly. Said car would be done at 5:30, car was done at 5:30. Ill be back there.

Hello. I wanted to leave my detailed experience with this location for all those coming in the future to be well aware of what they’re getting themselves involved with. I recently finished my STI rally car project I bought. Since it was unfinished, I completed the car but it needed to be tuned due to some changes from the previous owner.Originally I spoke with a woman whom I believe is the owners wife. She had told me that the tune would be $150 to mimic a stock tune on the vehicle. I dropped my car off on a Monday and on their work requested form stated that I wanted the car tuned to as close to stock as possible. The main performance modifications done to the vehicle were a front mount intercooler, TGV deletes, aftermarket divorced downpipe, catback exhaust, inlet tube, mild cams, and aftermarket pistons however I wanted a tune that would reflect the reliability of a stock application for now.On Wednesday I hadn’t heard back so I called to inquire about the status of the car and I spoke to the owner. He told me the car would be done that same day, and that the tune would be $50 more because it was an open source tune to which I agreed without hesitation. I was then told that they had to remove the downpipe to relocate the o2 bung for the wideband because it was too close to the turbo. They also mentioned I had a turbo gasket leaking between the hotside and the up-pipe. They also mentioned I forgot to plug the radiator fans in. Although I did not consent to any of this additional work, I brushed it off since it was already done and I assumed it would only be a few hundred dollars. When I inquired about what the total price would be I was told the owners wife would call me back. I never received a call back.I called the following day, Thursday, and spoke to the owners wife again. I asked for the total price and was told that her husband will get back to me because he is the one who does all the pricing and that he would call me back later in the day, but that the car was done and ready for pick up. I never received a phone call back.I arrived on Friday to pick up the vehicle to a total bill of $2,064.25 which was suspiciously high as the only work I had agreed upon was a tune to bring the car as close to stock drivability as possible. Upon looking at the invoice I found that they charged me $115 for a Grimspeed boost control solenoid (which I did not ask, agree, or consent to), $20 for hose clamps, $40 in misc items, $750 for a dyno tune, and $1000 in labor which on the invoice actually says “customer requests”. I never requested, was consulted, agreed to, or was informed of any services being performed on the car until after they were all completed. Moral of the story is buyers beware, this place is extremely shady. Icing on the cake is that the car also stalls on cold starts when coming off throttle. You’re better off letting your 3 year old tune the car with his fisher-price laptop than letting these clowns anywhere near it.

First of I want to mention that the service and the overall quality handled with my car was outstanding.. I had my car dropped off at the shop to get some parts installed and a pro-tune.. And I was amazed with the same day results. The staff was phenomenal, I was given a courtesy drop off to the train station because I needed to make it to work the same day. I was also very well pleased with the advice for future upgrades given from the owner James. There was a slight issuse on my end with a balance but the very nice lady Liz was very patient and understanding throughout the entire process as it was quickly resolved! I would absoutley do business with The Shop again and again.. I also highly recommend anyone else whos untreated in any modifications with their vehicle! Thanks to all the staff at The Shop for such a great experience! -Charles

Do NOT GO HERE im sure this review will get taken down due to its truth.... these people are only in it for the money took my subaru here for regular maintenance and they told me my motor was blown out of no where! sure enough it was..they broke it or something then they tried to get me to have them install a new one!!!!! do not go here jimmy does not run a good business

This is a family run shop and its awesome!I had new UEL Tsudo headers, and a new Stromung exhaust installed on my 2003 Subaru Forester, and they did an excellent job, in a reasonable time, with very fair pricing.You can certainly tell they take a lot of pride in what they do and I will definitely continue bringing our Subarus back here for future work!

This place is the best!!! I am fanatical about maintaining my car, and expect things to be done correctly the first time. The Shop worked with me to solve the issues I was having after the dealer could not fix the issue. Lisa made scheduling easy (they even gave me a ride home when I dropped the car off) and Jimmy kept me informed on the status of my car (he took pictures of the work and called me over the weekend to check up on the car after I picked it up). I got the feeling that they really cared about the work they do. The price of the work was less than I was quoted. How often does that happen?I will be taking both of my cars to them from now on for routine service and performance upgrades. Finding a garage that you trust is not easy, and I feel like now I have found one.Great job, The Shop!!!

Dropped my car off for a suspecting rod knock and got completely ripped off. First it took them nearly a week to get my car on a lift and diagnosed meanwhile I didnt get a single update on the status of my car until I emailed them and finally got a reply. When confronted Jimmy(the owner) about why it took so long he got very defensive and rudely belittled my situation claiming there were cars he had to get to that were more important. Im a reasonable person so all Jimmy had to do was shoot me a message and explain to me they were backed up. Once they finally got it on a lift they drained the oil to find it was full of metal flakes. And then for some reason they drained it again thinking it would be any different and also got flakes. Jimmy calls me telling me the knock stopped after the oil change and he will need to change the drive belt because its also making some noise. I was amazed to hear the knock went away so I gave him the go ahead on the drive belt. The car began knocking again by the time I got home. Out of curiosity I called the shop and asked to speak with the technician who performed the oil change. He told me he knew the motor was no good once he saw the oil the first time. Therefore being the experienced mechanic which Jimmy is he definitely also knew the motor was no good and here is where the problem lies. If his mechanic knew the motor was bad after the first oil change so did Jimmy meaning that doing anything or even recommending to do anything to the car after the initial oil change meant he was clearly taking advantage of the situation and of the fact that Im not as mechanically inclined as him. He ended up charging me $1,000. So pretty much i just spent 1k to find out the motor is blown which shows that the Shop CTs interests lie in getting paid not performing honest work.

The Shop did a great job has tons of parts installed and they were able to get all complete in one day as I drove from PA. Mike Botti did an amazing job on the tune he even took it for a road tune to ensure all is ok. No other shop ever did that. Amazig shop and amazing people who run and work it. Jimmy is quick and responsive to all concerns and will instantly reach out to help in any way possible. I brought in my Mitsubishi Final Edition Evo X for a clutch and flywheel upgrade/replacement. Within less than an hour of my car being there, they had already started working on it and finished it by the next day. Their customer service is phenomenal and I feel like I can truly trust these people with my car. I will continue to build my relationship with them by having it be the only shop my car comes to. Where does one even begin to put into words how appreciative I am of Jimmy and his team. My nissan skyline r32 gtr was brought to them with a list of issues.Jimmy and team spent countless sleepless nights working on my car into the early morning. There were times i wanted to throw in the towel and just count my losses and Jimmy stayed possitive and assured me we would get through it.Well now i have a 28 yr old legend that starts drives and runs better than one could ever imagine.
