The Ammo Box in Sun Prairie is a fantastic local firearms store. The owner, Doug, is very informative and knowledgeable when it comes to firearms. He is also very friendly and is willing to help you find exactly what you are looking for. I have both purchased a firearm they had in stock as well as one they had to special order for me. I was fully satisfied with both purchases and will continue to do business with them in the future. Doug also offers some limited firearm repair services and I have had both a shotgun and rifle cleaned and repaired by him both of which he did a fantastic job on. If you are in the market for a firearm take a look at a local gem of a store and you will not be disappointed.

Just plain awesome. I spent months looking for a particular firearm because nobody had one in stock. All it took was one day for these guys to find exactly what I was looking for and we were able to order it right then and there. I am extremely happy with the service I received. I would recommend the ammo box to every single one of my friends and relatives. Very friendly service, and I can even be a bit of a weirdo sometimes.

Very nice change to the old ammo box. Nice showroom with a good selection of hand cannons and a reasonable selection of popular caliber long GUNS and AR platforms. Prices are reasonable but the knowledge behind the counter is excellent

The Ammo Boxs new owner and staff are good to go. Ive been to their new location twice, and theyve been friendly and helpful. Decent selection, and if they dont have something on hand they can likely order it for you. Pricing is very competitive, on par or below the big sporting goods chains and even some of the major online gun retailers.

Pretty good selection of new, used, and older military rifles. The prices are lower than the nearby Gander Mountain, but the staff just doesnt make most people feel comfortable. Like a lot of old school gun shops, they almost talk down to you if you arent an old man like them. This place could make a lot of money if they brought in some younger faces and didnt make you feel uncomfortable. I like the prices and cheap Mauser ammo though!

Nice place. Owner seems very knowledgeable about several firearms that we discussed, which I would expect. I would recommend to stop in. Lots of things to be had.

The owner is a very personable individual and will assist you in any way that he can. Not a lot of stock but he will help you find the right product you need and will order it and get it in your hands.

My wife went in to buy a weapon and was met with a what I can only assume is a sexist bait and switcher. We recently had someone try to break in our house and it was only a matter of luck I was up to yell and apparently scare them off. My wife decided we need a weapon to protect the house. She went in and explained what happened to the man who told her that the gun he didnt sell the weapon she wanted because they were not quality and he doesnt stock them any more even though it is stocked on their website and linked to the main companies website. That alone is not right. She was offered something almost twice the price in response. Treat this place like a bad mechanic.

Stopped in to have them look at an antique shotgun I received from my grandpa. Although they dont technically provide gunsmith services, they gave some good restoration advice, were knowledgable, and had a good sense of humor. Also it is under new ownership.

Very polite and nice never afraid to ask questions here like other places. They dont act like your dumb for asking the question.

Renovations look great, selection is amazing as always, and prices havent jumped like other stores in the area. Great gunshop, great employess, great prices, what more do you want? Theyre permanently closed as of 7/19/2019. The place is completely empty and gone.
