This place amazed me with the variety of coffee they have. This one is opposite to the Sunnyvale Caltrain and Bart station. And the place is definitely a good one to hang out with your friends. Is the coffee any good? Yes, it certainly is but the only catch is that you may want to find your favourite after trying a couple of them. Now my favourites are Philtered Soul and Dancing Water. The name is not the only fun thing, the coffee is just about right. It has a good team and the cafe area is also a nice place. People who wants their alone time with your cup of coffee, or a place just to hang out with your friends, you got Philz Coffee.
What’s up Sunnyvale Philz? :) They carried me through the pandemic with their masked smiles and prompt service. Thanks for being a sweet store and adding those human touches.Tip: Try adding cardamom or mint to other drink orders in the “notes” section of the mobile order. Remember to be patient and don’t expect your order instantaneously. It’s worth it in the end!
This location doesnt care to fix its bathroom. On numerous occasions, I witnessed someone opening the bathroom door while someone else was inside. Knocking doesnt cut it, some people are hearing impaired. Its been going on for months. Do better.
Saw this Avocado toast is so popular in the review! So I Wen ahead to order one as well for my brunch! It turns out so Yummy with my favorite drink of philtered soul! Hazelnut flavor with chocolate smell pretty good before I drink it. This place always has been creative and made with special ingredients so don’t look for cappuccinos or lattes.
Philz coffee is the best. This location has good parking across the street and is located near restaurants and a sitting area.
Love the coffee. There’s a bit of wait but nothing too long . Love the variety of options in each category based on how strong the coffee is .I chose philtered soul and phil harmonic and loved it
Love their mint coffee and the Jacob Wonderbar. For someone who’s not a coffee drinker, and who gingerly approaches any coffee experience, I’ve really enjoyed their offerings. They are popular so expect some wait time. The nice place about this branch is the cool currency wall! They have a wall with currencies from around the world- super cool!
I like the vibe. It has a nice big outdoor park with plenty of sitting to enjoy with frie ds or just chill. I had the Tesora, which was ok.
This place focuses on drip coffee, with optional flavors added / preparation techniques used. You cannot order a traditional cappuccino or latte here. When I visited late morning, the pastry/food case was empty (perhaps you can order items not shown, but it was not clear). The seating area is nice. Wi-fi is also available.
This store is convinently located near the Sunnyvale Caltrain station. That’s a plus for me. You can grab your cup of coffee when waiting for your train. I ordered using the Philz Coffee app and pickup was seamless. I used to go to the San Jose Philz where they don’t have the app ordering as they are a privately owned store which sucks because there you always have to wait 15 minutes once you place the order in person.
Couldnt make up my mind. Friendly Barista got me to try the Aromatic Arabic. It was fantastic!
Was there last Saturday. The bathrooms require pass code. And they were out of toilet paper. You are better off with Starbucks down the block or Bean Seane next street over.
Coffee is good, but apparently the restroom door is broken for a long time and they wont fix it. You can see other customers complaining about the hygiene as well.
This shop is a nice place to enjoy a coffee because everything here was awesome. The atmosphere is very relaxing, and the taste of coffee is the sweetest.
Love my Philz coffee, but recommend to stay in that lane.Croissants (all types) consistently not quality for the price. Their chai a terrifying variety with mint that is only recommended for those with a very very particular palette, nearly unrecognizable flavor profile compared to normal expectations of masala chai or coffee shop chai latte.
The coffee in itself is good, offering lots of flavours and also ones you wouldnt really associate much with coffee. The service, however, is tardy. Considering that this is sort of a chain, they have done a good job of maintaining the quality. Also, +1 star for offering discounts on BringYourOwnMug. The bakery options are decent as well.
Once I was acknowledged, the service was ok. VERY limited food options, and took a good 3-5min before anyone even said hi… and I was the only one in line. Then they delivered my order to the mobile pickup table (other side of the store) rather than the normal pickup location which the signs directed me to.
Busy at the time I went (probably due to the farmers market), but we got our drinks in a timely fashion, and they were good. There is more indoor and outdoor seating.
As a foreigner, I really don’t know how to order cause the menu is quite complicated. So I made a order for a cup of latte but they didn’t have it. So they given me something similar. To be honest, the taste isn’t that good. I might choose their recommendation next time to see if it can change my mind.
Love getting my grinds from Philz - because I can treat myself to a mint mojito while waiting. Super busy no matter when you go.
We live within walking distance of Philz and have gone many times pre-covid. This was our first during COVID experience and it was mildly confusing yet we still figured it out and ended up with two delicious cups of cold brew coffee. Imo, their system needs some clarification. The app says no need to wait in line but when you get there you have to... Wait in line... To check-in and pick up your order. If its ready, they bring it to you and on you go. If not, they will call your name when it is ready. In the end, you will still get your handmade and consistently tasty coffee. I got my cold brew straight on ice and found it perfectly tasty, nutty, smooth, strong the way cold brew is, and better than Starbucks (my wife challenged me to a ind taste test next time to see if I can tell the difference, haha). My wife got hers with non-fat and stevia and it brought out different flavors for sure and was still really good. Im glad they added cold brew to their lineup and will certainly get it again, especially while the weather is hot. Hope you try it and enjoy it too!Not in the mood for iced? They still have plenty of good hot coffees. Ordering sweet and creamy means cream and sugar is added in generous but balanced proportions which complement the coffee, but for those of us looking for healthier alternatives theyve got just about every kind of milk and sweetener too. I suggest trying Jacobs Wonderbar or the Silken Splendor for more of a rich chocolate flavor, those are my favorites. Im also a fan or almond milk or oat milk, light, because it complements the flavors well. Imo. Enjoy!
Busy trendy coffee place.
Mocha Tesora is the best coffee I have had in like 1 year. Thank you Philz coffee.
Waited 40+ minutes for a cup of cold brew. Tasted awful.
Good coffee and pastries! Almond croissant is 👌Gets pretty busy on the weekends especially in the morning.
Coffee is good, but bathroom is in horrible state and such a mess at 7:00am
If you like Philz you will like this. However this place is crowded on Saturdays due to the farmers market, so order from the app ahead of time
This Philz is quite good, but it is always so phenominally slow. Then again, great quality, and nice plaza to sit.
Philz has the best rosé coffee and mint mojito. I also love their New Manhattan drink. I prefer the light roasts because they taste better to me and have way more caffeine than the dark roast.
Lovely coffee.. their medium blends like silken splendor and ecstatic are must try.. so give it a shot..
This review is for Sunnyvale location only and re: service only, not re: the coffee. Relocated from Dogpatch where we had an awesome experience...got it at least twice weekly. I obviously cant speak to their volume (or staffing) and its still Philz so, still three stars. Maybe we were just spoiled...We have gone in person and ordered mobile pickup from the Sunnyvale location. In person: cashier informed us just so you know it will be at least a 30min wait prior to ordering...we called her bluff as we thought she just appeared overwhelmed and our order was out in about 10min.Mobile order: we were placing an order on a weekday around 0800. The estimated pickup was 60 minutes from time of order.
The approach to coffee is very different from a company like Starbucks or Peets - although it does take a little longer to get your coffee, the wait is worth it, as the coffee is frenshly brewed & there are a really wide range of coffee blends to select from - from hints of fruit, to nuts, to chocolates & even herbs.
My go to is Philanthropic Soul 😍
I usually frequent this Philz on the weekend, theyre my second favourite Philz spot, after the SJSU one! Get my drink right every time (Istanbul Treat, sweet and creamy with honey). Friendly, sincere staff. Bigger than the SJSU Philz, but definitely gets filled and packed up pretty early on in the morning. This was where I tried my first Bacon Cheddar Scone and it was heaven!
Never disappoints! Please keep it up!
Ordered from app. Waited forever beyond pickup time. Left without coffee. Manager didnt show any regret!
Came at 6pm. Place was closed and no sign on operation hours time change was posted. Please keep the hours actual or place a note on the door.
Coffee wasn’t bad but I requested it be a bit sweeter. Instead of making it a bit sweeter the barista just handed me a packet for me to do it myself. The other barista then became upset with me that I had opened the lid of my coffee and was putting the sweetener in myself when the other barista just told me to do it. He then told me that they would have to do it for me?? The second barista’s reaction was a bit rude. All around bad customer service.
Mint Mojito! Great coffee!
Yummy coffee great workspace
It feels uncontroversial to say that Philz has the best (franchise) coffee in the Bay Area. This particular purveyor of black gold also runs a very good operation in the times of COVID. Ordering by app is quick and easy, and the baristas there are friendly and professional, and obviously also make a good cup of Joe.
The pastries and sweet/creamy anything are a treat. Try the iced gingersnap or iced mint mojito!Not-so-secret secret: they have excellent breakfast burritos and offer bacon, bean, chicken, and spicy sausage, all mixed with scrambled eggs. This isn’t very well advertised, but they are actually quite good!
Frequently a long line but the staff usually gets through orders fairly timely. With new social distancing standards, sometimes order ahead gives you a 30-45 minute wait time unfortunately, so its best to order before you leave for the store. Theyre usually pretty good at having the orders ready at the time given by the app and the drinks still come out perfectly.
Super convenient location in downtown Sunnyvale! Parking lot across the street and street parking. Pleasant employees, fresh ingredients, and great bakery items!
When the speed and convenience of a traditional coffee shop just isnt cutting it for you, Phils offers something different.Instead of simply pouring freshly brewed coffee from an urn into a paper cup, at Phils you get to stand around for a long time and they freshly brew your coffee and then pour it into a paper cup.
Always strong enough to get the sleep out if my eyes.
Good quality beverages, best to order ahead as each cup is made fresh
Good coffee, not expensive.
Its like if a Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks had a kid.
Super busy, but they were able to get me my drinks surprisingly quickly. Great service!
I tried to order coffee. I waited at the register to place my order for over 5 minutes. I never got helped, so I left. I wont return, Ill stick to the competition that has better service. I would rate of zero stars if possible.
The barrista was very rude today. The coffee was good though
A good cafe in Sunnyvale’s downtown
Great coffee and service. Its also a great location very close to the Sunnyvale downtown yet had an expansive open area right in front that you can sit and enjoy your coffee in. Havent tried their food so will update once I do. Use the app to order ahead especially on the weekends after 9 am.
The coffee is so good!
Cant go wrong at Philz. Pour over coffee for all occasions. If you like mediumish roasts, Id recommend the Philharmonic and the So Good.Their Mint Mojito coffee is out of this world too!
Tried the gingersnap ice coffee. Its so delicious and my new favorite. Long wait but at least its in a nice area.
Best Philz Ive ever been to. Great coffee and great staff. I miss going there especially during these times.
They dont have the largest selection of teas and imo their coffee is ok. Definitely better than Starbucks but not the best Ive ever had.
Taking pandemic seriously, good line management and app/online ordering works reliably. Great coffee and solid burritos/baked goods.
Great coffee, convenient location, and plenty of parking.
Ive tried a couple of their hot and iced coffes and everytime I just loved it. Its the most balanced cup of coffee Ive ever had. Highly recommend the Tantalizing Turkish.
The floor decals leasing to everywhere are a confusing mess.
The only craft coffee Id pay $5 for. The Sunnyvale location in particular has always been excellent. Ordering thru their app is easy and effective.
Coffee is amazing! Staff can be nicer.
Tessora made me a return customer
Good coffee. Philz has replaced Starbucks for me. I frequently come here to buy bags of whole coffee beans for family and friends back home. And I already drink it daily at work. However it’s pretty crowded and there aren’t many seats available. Not a huge fan of the layout of the seating either.
