We hosted our small, pandemic approved wedding here. It was PERFECTION. We had ample space for safe distancing. The Gallery is absolutely stunning and needed only minimal décor to enhance the historic building. The staff was responsive and helpful and the space rental was surprisingly affordable.I am so grateful for Courthouse Square for hosting my amazing day!
The courthouse square is a beautiful historic venue in Tacoma. Also reasonably priced. But what really made our special day, was the coordinator, Jessica. She was more than helpful and super friendly. I wish I could have her help with every event I do. Just a total rockstar, that made our wedding day stress free and enjoyable. 10/10 would do business here again.
We hosted my daughters wedding and reception at the Court House Square (the Gallery and Ballroom) in Nov of 2018. The venue was beautiful and Mitchell and his team were exceptional to work with. Communication was smooth and very prompt. The Court House Square is a hidden gem in Tacoma.10/10 would use this venue again!
We had our wedding there and it went very smoothly, it was easy to schedule with Mitchell and he set everything up perfectly. The venue itself is gorgeous, and has a wheelchair ramp and elevator for anyone worried about guests with mobility issues! Also the small rooms at the side work very well for food and bride room.
This is a beautiful venue. The courthouse square was very polite, prompt, and accommodating.I had my wedding here in January 2017. My guests were in awe over how beautiful the event space was, and by the amazing views of tacoma and Mt Rainier. They have tables, chairs, table clothes, and a PA system all available for use (for a minimal fee). The only reason I give 4 stars out of 5 is because during the wedding event, there were a few technical errors, all of which were addressed. Also, for you or your guests that are wheel chair bound, just realize that there are two elevators, just in case one decides to stop working. All in all, I would definitely recommend Courthouse Square ballroom for your event!
I was in charge of my work holiday party this year. Ive done it before, and I know what it is like dealing with venues and vendors. This year I got the green light to book the party in Tacoma. I saw Court House Square and was instantly in love with this historical building and saw that they had a space perfect for my group, the Gallery. I immediately contacted Jessica Johnston-Nelson at the property. She confirmed my date and we instantly got the ball rolling. She was a dream to work with. She had all of the answers and creative solutions necessary to make my event perfect for my group. The historical building and grand spaces speak for themselves making this a good venue and my co-workers has a great time. But, for me, what makes this place great is Jessica! I would 1000% book here again!
Jessica and Derrick were super helpful getting everything lined up for our fundraiser. The space is amazing! Tall ceilings, great views, huge windows in the upstairs ball room. The lighting is awesome. We had a super successful fundraiser there, I couldnt be more happy with the space and the staff. Thanks so much to Jessica and Derrick!
I recently had my wedding at Courthouse Square, end of April 2019. When I first saw the space with my husband we were in love! It’s perfectly laid out for a wedding, from the bride and groom suite, to the Buffett room, and the 2 different spaces. We rented both! Most of all, what truly made this space amazing is the team running it, Jessica and Derek. They went above and beyond to ensure our day was exactly what we wanted! They showed up early to let all our delivery people/set up crew and vendors in and they remained on site to ensure we got exactly what we wanted, they were even stepping in helping our set up crew. These two love what they do and this space and it shows. Lastly, at the end of the night, Derek even helped ensure my Grandma safely made it to our send off, assisting with her wheelchair. Jessica and Derek are AMAZING, our day was perfect and I have to believe that they had a big part in this! Hands down the most elegant venue in town! If your considering this space, don’t wait!!!!
We had our wedding reception here on a Monday night in July. Everything was perfect. Lots of street parking, no one going in and out of building so we were able to get family pictures on the front steps before the reception. The ballroom itself is beautiful. Tables, chairs, linens and sound system we rented were all in excellent condition. View of downtown and Mt Rainier was lovely. Temp in the ballroom was perfect even with a full house. The event manager is really easy to work with and responds to emails quickly. Really happy we chose to have our wedding reception here.
Our wedding was on Oct 7th, and everything was fantastic!! Mitchell was extremely helpful right from the start! He answered all of our questions quickly and helped us really envision everything so perfectly for our special day! Mitchell also is a coordinator so HIRE HIM! I am so thankful that we did because from start to finish on our wedding day, it was smooth sailing and I was stress free the whole day. The venue was perfect, everything I ever imagined and more! Thank you to Court House Square and Mitchell for the best wedding day!
Wow! I absolutely loved having my wedding at Court House Square. It was a gorgeous venue with so much charm, and it really was the talk of our wedding! Some may feel that the ballroom is “simple” but it is anything but! There was so much room to add little touches and make the space our own. Mitchell was amazing through the process; he was quick to respond to questions. Another big deal for me specifically working with Mitchell was that he was one of the few wedding vendors that took my fiancé and I seriously from the get go. You see, we got engaged with a two year wait before the big day. Many vendors refused to work with us before the year mark for our wedding date. Mitchell completed the walk through and with no pressure at all, asked how we felt (this was about 20 months before our date). He was happy to book with us as soon as we decided. Again, there’s something to say about vendors who take you seriously about your big day. I felt respected. Thank you, Mitchell, and the Court House Square Team, for making our wedding the most amazing day of my life!
We chose Court House Square for our wedding and reception venue. The ceremony was held downstairs in The Gallery, and the reception was upstairs in The Ballroom.I cannot recommend this location more. The rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The view from the ballroom windows is hard to beat. We were very satisfied with our choice.Mitchell was extremely professional and prompt. He answered any questions in a timely manner, and made the entire process simple for us.
I had my wedding here in February and we could not have been happier! Mitchell and his staff were amazing. Court House square goes from an elegant setting to a party! Such a great price for such a beautiful venue and location!
This place is beautiful. The staff is very easy to work with and super helpful. Everyone at our wedding commented about how great the venue was. I am so happy we chose Court House Square. Beautiful view from the ballroom, spacious cozy bridal suite. This is a must see for brides.
Ive used Courthouse Square for three events now. The staff is very helpful, the spaces are unique and cool, and it is super affordable for what you get.Ive thrown a couple of parties in The Archives and in The Courtroom (that judges box makes an excellent karaoke stage!). Most recently a colleague and I hosted a conference in the main ballroom upstairs and used the Gallery for meals and a happy hour mixer after. The space is incredibly flexible. I would DEFINITELY check it out.
I Had my wedding at Tacoma Courthouse square and it was an absolute dream. The ballroom was a great size for my wedding of about 70 people and there was more than enough room for our ceremony and reception. There was also a service room where we had all of our food and alcohol service and a beautiful Bridal Suite attached. Mitchell is an amazing manager for this place. He answered all of my questions and he took care of my concerns. He was on site day of the event, and helped make sure everything on his side was perfect. It was really nice knowing that we had Mitchells support all the way to the event and not just when we signed the contract. If you love vintage, yet modern, simple, yet elegant architecture in the heart of downtown tacoma, courthouse square is for you! You will not be disappointed.
We had our wedding at Court House Square in February, 2018. The venue was exactly what I was looking for: vintage classic feel. The room is stunning as soon as you walk in. High ceilings, huge windows over looking the city, a separate space (connected to the large room) for food and bar service and they even now offer a bridal suite and grooms suite to get ready in!Mitchel was awesome and timely with communication be it about vendors, recommendations, finallncials/receipts, or just answering questions. The space is classy and elegant in itself so decor can be understated and still have a huge impression on guests.Pictures around the building and during the wedding/reception turned out awesome!
We had a wonderful time having our first art show event at the gallery! The space was easily accessible and all the staff was friendly and helpful. Jessica was especially responsive and made sure that everything went smoothly and we felt right at home! Looking forward to another event there in the future.
We booked both the gallery and the ballroom for our wedding, 12 months in advance. The architecture and lighting made it the perfect venue. Then the day of the wedding. When we arrived the gallery had a stack of cabinetry in the corner and other junk that we had to move. When we called our day of coordinator, we received no response or help. But, it is an event and things happen so you just move the junk and move on (this only delayed us a half hour so it was workable). After the ceremony and the dinner, we turned on our glow sticks and fun LED glasses, rings and bracelets and went to change the lighting to start the dancing (mind you this is the main reason we booked this venue). The lighting system is kind of hard to operate and it appeared to have been missing the buttons so again we called our day of coordinator for help (no answer), we texted (no answer), we had a gentleman who was cleaning call (no answer). Finally, the nice gentleman who had been cleaning the ceremony space explained to us that the lighting had been broken for weeks!! What?!!?After being ignored by the management team and lied to about the lights we left the venue two hours earlier than we had the event rented for. Our awesome caterers were excited about getting to close up early and even though they are no affiliated with the venue they apologized for the situation. We left the venue early because who wants to dance in basically sun light bright lights and instead went down the street and a couple of remaining guests danced at a local bar.I emailed the management team the next day and received your typical apology, I obviously requested a refund for the two hours we did not occupy the space due to their blatant mistake. That was over a month ago. I followed up two separate times and even inquired as to where my security deposit is, but again just like the day of my event, we are being ignored. I am not demanding a grandiose apology or all my money refunded, I feel that my request is standard and due to them not fulfilling the contract and providing me the agreed upon service and venue space. How disappointing.
We had our reception there and it was wonderful. The space is unexpectedly very cute and easy to decorate for an event. Mitchell D is awesome; very patient, lots of great ideas, available to help if needed and above all professional. The price is extraordinarily reasonable and it was a great day! Highly recommend this venue.
We hosted a party at the Court House Square ballroom earlier this month. It is ideally located in downtown Tacoma with plenty of nearby parking. It is a special location with significant historical value and a beautiful ballroom space. With plenty of tables, chairs, an AV and sound system, it offered everything we were looking for. Mitchell was extremely helpful throughout the rental process. I highly recommend this venue.
The event spaces are beautiful, but the customer service and communication was terrible. Would not recommend for a wedding. There was a change of management about a month after I booked the ballroom, and communication after that was nearly impossible. I would call and email daily for weeks trying to reach anyone because I wanted to add the gallery room to my rental, and it took weeks to reach anyone. It was like that for many things that came up before the wedding. I decided to rent the gallery for the wedding rehearsal, and it took a week of calling to find out if I could. I was able to, but then I had to wait 20 minutes after my rental started for the room to be unlocked. Jessica had given me her cell phone number, but she never answered any of my calls. Even on the day of my wedding when the rooms needed to be set up and decorated, I had to call and text Jessica many times before she unlocked the ballroom 20 minutes late. The worst part of it all was that the sound equipment that was set up in the ballroom for my reception was set up with a broken cable, so we couldnt plug into the speaker. There was NO MUSIC for close to an hour and a half of my reception. Half of that time was spent trying to contact Jessica to fix it and the other half of the time was just waiting for them to bring the cable. It made the reception feel so awkward. On the day of my wedding, I was finally receiving texts from Jessica because she sent me several texts saying that I needed to pay my remaining balance immediately. I had paid the deposit as soon as I booked before the change of management happened and never received a contract or bill after I added the second room to my rental or the rental for the rehearsal. I would have paid it before, but like I said, I never received a contract or bill. I was so irritated that she was making it a big issue the day of my wedding during photos. Overall, a terrible experience that added a ton of unnecessary stress and issues.
I had my Non Profit Organizations 2nd Annual Be Bold Be You Womens Brunch here last November and all I can say is this place is AMAZING!!! The Events Manager, Mitchell was beyond helpful. Everything we needed...he was able to provide or had a suggestion. It didnt matter how many emails I sent...I always received a prompt and professional response. The vision I had in mind...became a reality when the ladies walked into this beautiful room with the LED lighting, catered food that was prepared in their spacious kitchen and enough space for everything we needed. 5 STARS!!!
I had my wedding here on a Saturday night in October. Their rental rates are very reasonable, and everything went off without a hitch. Mitchell is great to work with, and very responsive if you have questions. There is plenty of parking and spots to take pictures. I have no complaints about the venue at all.
We rented the gallery room and the archive for both our wedding ceremony and reception. We put the bar behind the old fashion mail windows in the archive and it worked great. Such a cool space! The giant windows, chandeliers, and working vintage safes in the rooms are gorgeous, the guests loved them. Mitchell was so great to work and so patient he answered all of our questions and even let us pop in time to time as the wedding planning process went on. His on site staff scott? during our event was great also. I know he made my mother in law so happy with all the above and beyond work he did for us. One note... make sure to get the bathroom code closer to your wedding date because it changes. A big thank you for letting us use your beautiful space for our wedding.
Weve held monthly events at Courthouse Square for a year and a half. I cant recommend the space and staff enough. The space is beautiful and the staff is professional, friendly, caring, helpful, proud of the heritage of the building and wonderful to work with. If youre having an event or reception your guests will be wowed by the room and youll have a great time planning and working with the Courthouse Square team.
Ive been a tenant at Court House Square for almost a year and it has been a very pleasant experience. We like our space, the staff is very responsive and they added a security patrol. They put in new lighting in the hallway when we told them it was a little too dark and the bathrooms are kept very clean. Our experience has been great and Ive already extended my lease.
I planned an event at Court House square for about 100 people. The planning staff was awesome and helped me get everything I needed, provided me all the information required to get the event planned, and was polite and professional throughout the whole experience. The party was a huge success and the venue was perfect. I dont think theres a better venue out there for the price in Tacoma. Id work with these guys again in a heartbeat.
We held a dinner for our top donors in the The Gallery. All of our guests loved the elegance of the venue and the catering service from Galluccis was outstanding. Mitchell was very accommodating to our needs and worked with us to meet our budget. The event was flawless. I highly recommend Court House Square!
Beautiful and affordable venue! We had our winter wedding here and couldnt have been happier! Mitchell was incredibly helpful and quick to respond to any questions I had.
My first experience hosting an event at Courthouse Square was awesome! I rented the Ballroom and it was set up nicely and just as requested. Staff assisted me in unloading my goodies and made me and all of the guests feel welcome. I also had last minute requests and was accommodated with a smile! Awesome rental and awesome folks!
We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in September and everything was great! We had no issues. Mitchell and his team were wonderful, my wife loved the Bridal suite, there were plenty of great photo spots within walking distance, no parking problems, no complaints!
Had our wedding in October. It was abouslutly amazing! Mitchell is wonderful to work with and has very reasonable rental rates! I have no major complaints from my own wedding witch is wonderful! I highly recommend this venue!
My business, Self Centered Massage Studio, has been located on the fourth floor in Court House Square for the last year and a half. The building offers many unique spaces to lease inside a beautiful downtown historic building. The management (Mitchell, Orest, John and others) are responsive to my needs and are readily available to answer questions or help resolve any problems. I feel valued as a tenant. It is also great to be part of the evolving community of local businesses within the building who support each other.
I just had my wedding here on the 28th of May 2016. I was so pleased with the level of service provided by the event coordinator Mitchell from the time of the tour to the time I walked out the door on the wedding night. He was nothing short of attentive, personable and communicative throughout the whole process. I could tell that he did genuinely care about the outcome of the even as well. When I booked the venue it was in the midst of a remodel and I had no idea what I was really going to get come the day of. I was so excited when I walked in and saw fabulous chandeliers and beautiful original hardwood throughout. I would absolutely do my wedding all over again here as well as host another event if I ever needed to. The room I rented is called The Gallery.
Recently held an event in their ballroom. It was a beautiful location and the management was so easy to work with! The price was very reasonable and there is a lot of additional sound equipment, tables, and chairs included. Would highly recommend hosting an event here!
The staff at Court House Square (particularly Mitchell Dorn) was incredibly helpful and very willing to work with our non-profits budget and schedule. The venue was perfect for our event, as well, with high ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, and cool ambiance. Holding our event here was a great experience.
Landmark in Tacoma, that rents out space. Also, it has Infinite Soups for lunch and will soon have a coffee shop! Great downtown location, parking can be a challenge, still better than Seattle though ;)
Theres lots of activity. Lots of small businesses, artists, designers, etc. The coffee shop is friendly and fast. Would be helpful if there were wifi readily available, though.
My wife and I had our wedding here last September. It was a beautiful venue and was very affordable compared to many other options in the area. I would recommend events to occur in the evening as it can get a bit warm.
I loved the way everything turned out at my wedding. Having Mitchell respond so promptly to all my questions and requests was the best part of planning this all at the end of the day I knew my venue would come through and be everything I imagined I had the venue set up everything for me and it was perfect I think the highlight of it all was every time I needed something Mitchell was there from me wanting to come to the venue every other week leading up to the venue to coming to the venue the day of my reception to change the color of the lights . 10/10 would recommend this venue to anyone planning any type of event
We had our wedding and reception here. It was lovely and Mitchell was helpful throughout the whole process. The venue is priced very reasonably as well!
Our daughters wedding and reception was held at Courthouse Square earlier this month. We had an outstanding experience with Mitchell and his staff. Mitchell was quick to answer my emails, my preferred method of correspondence. He offered resources vendors. Although we chose a caterer from Olympia who had never been to CHS, Mitchell met with the manager and everything went very smoothly the day of. The fact that CHS provides tables, chairs and linens is such a bonus. We used the Ballroom and the Gallery. Both spaces are beautiful in their own rights. Our guests loved the Ballroom. The venue is set up really well for events, it is easy for guests to maneuver the space and the rental is very reasonable for all that is included. I dont believe we could have had a better experience. Mitchell and his staff have it dialed in.
This is such a beautiful venue! The downtown location is great. Mitchell is great to work with, very prompt in answering emails.
Beautiful space for a decent price ! There are two additional rooms that come with the ballroom so we had lots of space to party. Management was very informative and super friendly.
Courthouse Square is the perfect place to have your wedding, my husband and I got married on Aug 24th, 2018 and this venue perfectly fit our budget and our 1920s themed wedding. Mitchell made everything extremely easy for us to throw a DIY wedding. Everything was really easy to find and we were even able to have a live band play some jiving jazz tunes for our reception. We went with an all day package as it made more sense for us since we wanted a short, sweet, and straight to the point ceremony. We picked The Vault catering company from their lists and the Northwest Buffet isss amazing to say the least our guest could not stop raving about the salmon! If youre looking for a venue to hold your next event defiently do not pass this one up 10/10 would reccomend!
We had our wedding reception here on 1/22/17 and from the get go back in October, Mitchell, was the most reliable, easiest to get ahold of, friendliest property manager I had to spoken to, and I had spoken to quite a few at that point. Leading up to it, if I had any questions (and as a bride I had a few) he was prompt and gracious in responding to me. It really helped ease the anxiety of being a bride. The location itself was exactly what I dreamed of, so beautiful and full of character, it reminded me of being a princess, with the Ballroom being aptly named. The day of we had pictures in the first floor post office, on the front steps and right across the way in front of the 11th street bridge, which were GORGEOUS. Sound equipment was fantastic and the lights that changed when we danced set the mood for a party!! It was truly perfect ( and didnt break out bank!!!). Id reccomend this to any and everyone!
Beautiful venue with great customer service. I would 100% reccomend this venue to anyone looking for a event space.
Great service, kind people, super responsive, and I highly recommend working with Court House Square!
