Great people didnt sugar coat the issue with my Coleman motor bike fixed it and now my son is happy again. If you want a warm and fuzzy experience rather than a person that knows whats up this place is not for you. This is a place for people who really want their stuff fixed not fluffed!

These folks are great! They run a busy but very clean and organized shop, (which is amazing in itself) and are good at what they do. Personable and super helpful folks.If you have a Dixie Chopper mower, and you are anywhere within reasonable driving distance of Tallahassee, these are the guys you want working on your machine!! Give them a try, I dont think you will be disappointed.

AVOID THIS PLACE. Owner at the desk is miserable to deal with. Promises the next week, then never calls. Told it will be another week. best I can do. More or less take it or leave it. I left it. Went to Southern Mower. Much better. Other reviews said this guy keeps pushing out your completion date. One week becomes one month. They look very busy. Dont need the business I guess.

This is probably the best mower fixing house in town Ive had a mower up there that I cant go and get because of my current living situation and I have been very friendly even though I know its in their way

My first experience doing business with this company was outstanding. I came to Bob with a warranty problem on a mower and he quickly resolved my problem with the MFG. My mower is back running now with a newly replaced starter, just like Bob promised. If Bob will treat me right on a mower I didnt even buy from him, I know I can trust him enough to do business with him.He fought for me and earned my business!I just bought my first mower from Bob as a result.

Always able to repair and they pick up mower, which is a plus. However, they take a REALLY long time!!! Ok during winter for tune ups, but I have been without my mower now for over 6 weeks since mid july!!!! Everytime I can they say it will be a few more days. Very unhappy.

We head a similar experience as some others who have posted. Cost more and took longer than they said so we left there mower there. That was probably their idea all along. Might be okay to simply buy a part there, but I will never again take any equipment to be repaired.

I took a flywheel key from my lawnmower North side Mowers and Small Engine Repair. I was sold on two flywheel Keys that were the wrong size. The keys were not expensive, I did not go to waste money on the wrong parts! I do question the business ethics of this “store”. The guy attending my order had a horrible attitude and did not return my original flywheel key back to me. I don’t like doing business with thieves. I would rather order online than do business locally again.

Before my son purchased a boat motor it was taken to this place for a “clean bill of health”...all was good according to owner...fast forward one month... motor not working. We took the motor to a different location to find out what was going on and there were major problems that should have been detected by this company during service. We called the owner for explanation...BAD customer service, nonexistent. Do NOT recommend this place at all!!

Northside Mowers had the part I needed, and, the part was a fair price. I would definitely buy parts from Northside Mowers again.

Absolute worst experience possible, deserves negative stars. OWNER PRIORITIZES ANY WORK FROM THE CITY OF TALLAHASSEE AHEAD OF YOU.I dropped off my mower and called for an update a week later. They advised that they were a little backed up at the moment and to call next week. I called the next week and they said they were still backed up and to call back later that week. I called back again, to no avail. I then inquired as to when exactly it would be ready, they replied, probably next week.I called back again the next week, mower was still not ready. It was at this point that I asked them what exactly was taking so long? The owner then told me that they prioritize any work from the City of Tallahassee ahead of everyone REGARDLESS of when it is received. I advised that I did not think that it was a very wise business decision. The owner then advised that they would try to get to it soon.Finally after waiting nearly 5 weeks for a simple push mower to be fixed, the owner called me and said that the mower was completely broken and there was nothing that they could do. He then added that I could come and pick it up for $20!!! I then asked him, So you want me to pay you $20 for waiting for 5 weeks in which you prioritized other work ahead of me and in the end found that there was nothing you could do?. He then exasperatingly exclaimed, WELL AM I SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR FREE?!?.I told the owner how disappointed I was in this experience and that I should have listened to several of my neighbors or simply read some of the other reviews concerning his shop and hung up the phone.Surprisingly, the owner then called me back and verbally berated me and physically challenged me to come to his shop to fight him. I advised him that our transaction had ended but I would be happy to leave him a review.

I called looking to get a quote for a lawnmower engine repair, rang probably 10-15 times, no answer. I hung up, and within 15 seconds got a call back from the same number so I answered...Hello - their response A**hole - click, hung up on me.

These guys are great! Took our mower to another shop first and they wanted to charge me what I paid for the dang thing ($164) 8 months ago to fix a carburetor. Said heck no and brought it to Northside where they charged $100 LESS than the other guys and got it done in a couple of days rather than the two weeks we were quoted at the other place. Highly recommend!

I own a Landscape company, several full service lawn crews, a tree company and a pressure washing company and these guys have worked on a variety of different equipment for each of my businesses including a bucket truck for my tree business and the price is always comparable or better than anyone else in town. As someone who spends over $50K in repaired equipment yearly, I have been to every certified shop in town and I have had work done on different kinds of equipment and I still bring majority of my stuff to them. Bob, Bobby and Chris don’t even call for a quote on my items, they are just fixed and back out on the job sites doing what they were built to do. Things happen in my line of work and I’m glad that mom and pop shops are still around to help out the local small businesses here in town. Even though I have never bought any of the equipment that they sell, they have never treated me differently bringing in my own preferred brands. Not many big companies in town will do that and they don’t talk bad about how they feel about the brands I use that they don’t sell.

Reading these stories brings back bad memories I took my mower there for a broken pull cord a 4 years ago I was quoted $40. I kept calling and they said it was not ready, after 4 months i gave up calling and said ill give it another month then ill go pick it up and take it somewhere else. Finally i called and asked if it was ready and the man raised his voice at me and said yes its been ready for months and we have been trying to contact you (LIE) we were about to sell it. I said wow i have seen anything on my answering machine or messages but anyways whats the bill. He says $200 are coming to get it or what ? I just let them keep it no use arguing over an old $100 mower. JUST STAY AWAY THE WARNINGS ARE TRUE THEY ARE RUDE SLOW AND I BELIEVE CRIMINAL.

Very poor experience with this business today as I called to ask if they could take a look at my mower which was acting up, and they said yes. I drove across town about 4pm and asked if he could take a look as discussed, and told me I had to drop it off as they were too busy (I was the only person there). The gentlemen was sitting behind a computer and made ZERO effort to assist me.Rather than take 5 minutes to look at my mower, he lost my business and will from others as well. I then went to Home Depot in which 2 workers quickly and politely came out to look at my mower and quickly advised I was missing a small piece on my governor causing the issue. No attitude, just customer service.Northside Mowers should learn to value customer service. Take 5 minutes to help a customer, and they will be a customer for life. Blow a customer off, and you lose my business and others.

I had a good experience with these guys in buying a mower from them. They tell it like it is. Some folks may find that rude or whatever. I found it refreshing. They also beat the price of the big box store.

I took my pressure washer to them after someone told me it was worthless and they cleaned the carborator and it runs like new. These are the best guys to take your power tools to. They are honest and affordable.

Those guys can’t replace a self-propel belt. Don’t bother wasting your time with them

Northside had repaired my small equipment for many years I have always had a good experience with them. They are good folks and easy to work with.

EXTREMLY RUDE. I am a small business owner here in Tallahassee, FL. First time calling, as advised by Dewalt Manufacturer that they were the closest approved repair shop in Tallahassee, I asked if they could help me out with a pump replacement that may or may not be under warranty. Instead of answering the question the man on the phone raised his voice in frustration and spoke to me like I was stupid. I was willing to pay for repair if it was not covered by warranty. But now I would much rather buy the part myself and replace it or travel ANYWHERE else before giving North Side Mowers & Small Engine Repair a single penny. Based on other reviews I found about sketchy business interactions with this place I would definitely think twice before doing business with them. But dont take my word for it, give them a call one day and find out for yourself, or just do a little research. Good luck.

Bobby Sr. and Bobby jr. are stand up guys. They always do great work at a fare price. I highly recommend them for all your mower and lawn equipment repairs.

At least most of the reviews here resulted in work completed. I took a push mower up there to get serviced. Didnt hear from them for nearly two months. I blame myself for that one, but when I got there they had no record of ever receiving a mower from me for service. I had always heard bad things about them, but had always been able to any bad service. But this went beyond the pale. Unfortunately, I no longer had any receipt of them accepting the mower so all I could do was walk away. I suggest everyone else do the same.

Hired then to make sure the mower was running good. paid them for the service and mower didnt run well. owner is kinda of rude.

So nice to find a business that cares about thier costumers, For Bob, And Chriss very helpful helping me find a spocket for my chain saw. Part was not listed in parts manuals, so Bob took a half an hour to look and check for the part in the many parts bin until they came up with it. Thank you gentelmen. Took my 2007 Toro riding lawn mower to be repaired, after several hundred dollars (not including parts) I mowed my yard 1-1/2 times and it broke again, same problem. When I called back and spoke with the owner, I was told that I didnt know how to more my yard properly and when I attempted to explain what happened, I was told to shut up and was even hung up on. I was very hesitant to leave this sort of review because I truly do support small business owners in this area but I wanted to let all the other ladies know how they can expect to be treated at this repair shop. I located another small engine repair person and was told that the work that was done rendered my mower irrepairable. So now, Im out of pocket $400-$500 including parts and now have no mower thanks to Northside mower.

Busy business good staff

One guy gave me a quote on Thursday and verified with his mechanic that it was doable, came back Friday and another guy was there and he did not want to honor the quote and said it wasnt possible. I ordered part off Internet and fixed it myself. Was in there a a few years before and they were not very friendly.

Rude and combative every time I spoke with him. Took him SIX WEEKS to repair a broken drive belt, which is about a 20 minute job. Actually yelled at me over the phone because my message box was full?! Stay away from this guy, he has issues.

Reading these reviews is false shelia jones doesnt tell you how many times shes ran over small stumps and debri in her yard and lives almost in monticello and they picked up her mower for free everytime she hit things plus she cant spell. How many times do you keep fixing for free. people need to look at themselves before they judge and quit trying to get everything for free.I frequent this shop often and have no problems with repairs or service

Easy in and quick out with having the zero turn fixed

We took our Toro mower to Northside Mowers because that is who Toros customer representative said is an authorized warranty repair center. While dropping the mower off, my husband had a conversation with the worker about how they had received a lot of Toros over the last couple of weeks and that they were determining that the problems were related to the carburetor, which is not covered by warranty. She even went on to say how they wrote a letter for one customer who then took it to Home Depot, who refunded the purchase price of the mower. My husband received a print-out that stated estimate at the top of the sheet.A week or so went by, and we received a call that our mower was ready to be picked up. Since we had not heard from them since the original drop-off day, we assumed that the repair had been covered by warranty. However, when my husband went to pick it up, they told him it would be $101. We did not authorize any repairs, but yet, they still expected us to pay. Keep in mind, our print-out said estimate. When my husband pointed that out, they blamed their computer system and said, Oh, well that always prints out. My husband also pointed out that no one called us to get authorization on the repair. They told him that if a repair was around $300 or higher, they would call a customer, but otherwise, they didnt.When my husband said that since we didnt authorize the repairs, we would contact the Better Business Bureau before closing out the invoice. The owner was no stranger to the BBB and shrugged it off saying that was fine with him because all they would do is send him a letter, which he had 30 days to reply to, and if he took no action, BBB wouldnt do anything. Either way, he would still have the mower.Finally, the owner offered to cut the labor charge in half. The carburetor itself wasnt even replaced; they simply rebuilt it. We ended up paying $65 just to get our mower back. We will still be filing a complaint with the BBB as well as writing to Toro strongly recommending that they drop Northside Mowers as a warranty repair center.

Took in an item for warranty service. Manufacturer told me it was covered under warranty. Northside Mower repaired it then said it was not covered under warranty and would not give it back unless I paid. They were very loud and rude as well.

Beware owner has a temper! I had to call the police and my mowers still broke :( oh well!

Take your mower ANYWHERE but here. Quoted a couple of days and we are going on a month with no returned calls. I was told he was waiting on 3 other customers when I called last time so since I was across the street I rode over to find NO ONE in the store. Customer service is horrible to say the least.
