This is the worst bait shop I have been unfortunate enough to try in Florida. Was rudely told on the phone they had plenty of shrimp they were a bait shop, and dont waste his time with a question like that. Even after explaining we was coming from Kissimmee. Just to get there only an hour later to be rudely told they havent had shrimp all day. You are better off going to the little guy nextdoor. Who is even cheaper.

Most expensive, rudest bait shop around. I only return because they keep a more steady supply of live shrimp than anywhere else I know. Just dont park next door, the employees have been known to chase people and insist you cant park in their lot without buying things from their shop.

Stopped by on a Wednesday noon. Friendly greeting. Explain I want to shore fish that afternoon not sure where. They had me bring my poles in, then rigged both. Asked questions, gave recommendations and no hard selling. I bought leaders, swivels and shrimp. Headed to Picnic island and caught fish all afternoon. Thanks guys, that was a good day

Use a different shop!! horrible and rude service that doesnt give you the amount of shrimp you order. If I could give a negative star it would be -3 stars.. one negative star for how rude the staff are, one negative star for being over priced on a 2 shrimp they call large, and one negative star for not knowing how to count. (Given it was he couldnt count and not that he is just a rude slimy criminal.) save your money and go to the base shop right next door go to the little guy at least hes honest and hes nice.

Used this shop the whole time on vacation for bait and set up. We got a dozen every time and there was always more in the bucket. Prices are great and the man who runs the shop is greatly informed and helped a lot.

Cheap live shrimp. I wanted to buy a small baitwell net and was told there were some inexpensive ones beyond the expensive ones I was looking at.

If I gave it 5 stars someone would think I was a plant, a fake review, But really - what is there to rate about a bait shop. They had a couple of things for a trailers and boats and a huge selection of fishing tackle that the host assured me would be effective in the local waters - noting he didnt carry anything that didnt sell and what sold was a stuff that worked locally. He had at the ready tide charts and Regulations printed out assuring that no one white home with fish they shouldnt and people didnt purposely target stuff out a season... Find shrimp here would be cheaper than harvesting at myself, but he also sold the tools needed to do that, a dip net, bucket, and head Flash lamp. Despite it being early on a Sunday, those a steady stream of boaters and folks in drugs get ready Go Fish. And despite my enthusiasm, the only thing that 8 my shrimp was an egret on shore which obviously knows that when people are done they always leave something tasty behind. I should have heeded the guidance provided, that when the tides run its better fishing, But todays big time would have been at 1:00 p.m. with a forecast of forbodings sunshine and high humidity... At least I got to stretch some line, practice tying leaders, and wet from wading out too far. On wait until the temperature cools a bit before going fishing but its worthwhile stopping at this bait shop.

Always a convenient spot for us to stop when heading to the bay or the gulf. Always have a good selection and friendly enough. It is difficult getting back out on the road sometimes, but that has nothing to do with them.

Big props to the guys down at Gandy Bait & Tackle for helping me out today. Im a fishing noob that brought in two old spinning reels that needed spooling. They helped me get the right line types and passed along some good tips on artificials and getting set up with leader lines!

First time visiting was asked if they had any large or jumbo shrimp, was immediately snapped at that no one had large or jumbo and made me feel like a fool for asking, literally right next door the smaller bait shop had huge jumbo shrimp. Extremely unfriendly staff and horrible customer experience. Avoid this place and go next door.

Rude and didnt have nothing for bait but called approximately 45 minutes ahead of time and was told no bait terrible customer service and no bait

The bait here is the best Ive ever seen in Florida, no joke. Shrimp are massive and super healthy. The shrimp will last all day which is much better than typical bait shop shrimp. The owner and his crew are very knowledgeable and super friendly. Wouldnt go anywhere else in the south Tampa area for bait and equipment. Thanks guys!

Staff is very helpful and quick service. Prices are cheaper for live bait than most other places in on the Florida coast. Only thing that would make this place better is if there was more room for parking with a boat. Difficult to fit if there is more than 1 or 2 people there getting bait that have boats. But the products and staff and loacation are top notch

I have been going to this bait shop since I was a little boy. I remember when it was a little 1 room building. To what it is now its awesome. And I have known bill since I was a little kid. I always tell everyone I know to go here for bait and anything else fishing they need when going out for a day.

Weve been going here for years. The guys are great. Theyre friendly, and will offer good fishing tips too if youre not a douche to them. Getting harder and harder to find live shrimp in the afternoon though

Walked in and while not rude, not friendly. Went there on a Sat afternoon and only live bait they had was shrimp. It happens so that didnt bother me. When I left, I realized there was a bait shop right next door. It would have been nice to at least refer me next door. I would have respected that and returned in the future.

Had my son visiting from Alabama and i wasnt to familiar with saltwater fishing. Bill was amazing. He took his time to explain how to bait the shrimp, set the line and which direction to cast in. It was great information cause up to that point we had no bites or nibbles, however after that we caught a nice size trout. It was a great experience for my son.

Im a beginner and new to Tampa. Today I took my kids out for their first fishing experience. Bill set us up, made a leader for us, taught me how to tie a knot, and told us exactly where to fish and what bait to use. We caught a huge trout in our first 5 minutes!I cant thank Bill enough. What a great guy. Prices seemed more than reasonable and service was superb.

Great location right before the bridge. Shrimp are big!!! Great selection of items for fishing. A few drinks and light snacks. Can get busy and there is not too much parking but fast service so not a long wait. Staff was friendly and quick. We always stop here before going to St Pete to fish.

Will not give this bait shop any business if I can help it. I asked if he could order something from his supplier for me said I would take the whole box if needed. He said he didnt want to bother with it. I never sell that stuff. I said I would take the whole box if you could check on the price for me. The response was I dont want to deal with that. The box was $55 And Im sure if he carried the item he would have sold them and made a profit. I have been to this shop dozens of times. They are rarely out of shrimp, their selects are usually huge, and pricing is fair. I have never been met with rude customer service here, as others have stated. Im usually greeted and all that good stuff, just dont expect a hug or something. I recommend this bait shop and will continue to come here for my fishing needs.

After fishing in tamp for five years I have finally given up on this place. Very rarely do they have any bait (always out) and when you ask they act like your an idiot. Unfortunately after making them my first stop I no longer waste my time. Bait shop next door keeps full stock of all variety of baits. If your looking for tackle they do have a better selection but for live bait go next door. Really wish they would figure it out as its more convenient with a boat.

I honestly have no clue how this shop has any good reviews, other than it must be the people working there trying to counteract all the bad reviews. This place is the absolute worst, my husband and I have given this place two different tries and both times the staff there is so completely rude its amazing that they get ANY business whatsoever. We will never try there again (and if you can look past the attitudes they never have bait either othe than a handful of half dead tiny shrimp). Your best bet is to skip them and go to Sailor Mikes next door they are so friendly and helpful! Anyway, just thought I would save somebody else the trouble and aggravation.

New to the bay. Got bait there half dozen times before, no problem. Went on a Friday morning and got a half dozen medium shrimp, took them home in my floating bucket and put them in the bay as always. Three hours later, most were dead and the rest were lethargic.Brought them back (all were dead by then) and the clerk didnt bother to look up, just kept repeating that temperatures vary and they were alive when we sold them, so they dont offer refunds.So I went next next door and bought two dozen, took them home (even made a 30-minute detour to get some groceries). Put them in the bay water as always and they lasted three days--mightve lasted longer but I used them up.So why would one batch die and the other batch thrive? They apparently come from the same bulk provider.I gave two stars only because my previous dealings with them were just fine. But this encounter makes me wary about going back.
