Dairy Joy is a South Tampa institution, and rightfully so. Theyve been here since the 1950s, and if youve ever been you can see why. Their ice cream is, in my opinion, the best to be had in Tampa. My personal favorite treat is their pumpkin pie shake, and its exactly that, they use real pumpkin pie and turn it into a milkshake. Its the best! If you havent been yet you really need to go. They have chocolate dipped cones, shaved ice with ice cream in the middle, shakes in a ton of flavors, and ice cream. In summation, Dairy Joy is amazing.
This place got new ownership in the past couple of years and they have invested in the products and outdoor seating area. Good variety of ice cream treats with easy pay, contact-less options.Seating areas are covered now, and there is a wonderful vibe to the whole joint.Soft serve and hard ice cream is available in cups, waffle cups, waffle cones, and auger cones. Many flavors. There can be a line during busy times, and parking is not plentiful. Note that some of the businesses nearby are not agreeable to people parking in their parking spaces. I was accosted once by the owner of the nearby convenience store, which guaranteed Ill never step foot in his store ever.
Never actually heard of it till today, definitely recommend going at night after dinner, the place is lit up an looks amazing!Got our milk shakes pretty quick an sat down as we listened to some classic rock kinda music...The lady who took care of us at the window was super nice.Glove an mask on as she made our shakes!I got a banana an Butterfinger milkshake!Freaking delicious!Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good ice cream with a great atmosphere....Look out Bos ice cream.....You definitely have some competition!
Transport yourself to the fifties in this charming and picturesque outdoor ice cream parlor! You can capture many beautiful picture moments here with your friends and family while enjoying delicious ice cream!! They even have many tables for the kids that are absolutely adorable! Fun for the whole family and in Lee and anyone in general.
Tried this place for the 1st time couple days ago. Wish I knew this place earlier! I was here with some friends and all love us loved our ice creams. I had a small pistachio on a waffle cone it was fantastic! The quantity they give you for a small one will blow your mind. The retro style outdoor seating is an added bonus. If you decide to go during the evening please prepare yourself to avoid mosquito bites.
First time here tonight for Mother’s Day and it was packed but so worth the wait. The line moved quickly and the customer service was great. Even better, the Rocky Road ice cream was absolutely incredible - best I’ve had. I ordered a small and she gave me about 3 scoops. I was thrilled, lol. I’m so happy we stopped and will be back again soon.
Found this place by accident, but will quickly become a regular! Great service, great ice cream and dog friendly!
Friendly staff/owner, both hardpack and softserve ice creams were good, had dole whip which is rare. Unique and tasty flavors, worth the wait if there is ever any line. Good seating options and great areas for pictures. Bathroom is dirty but it is an ice cream stand so a 10/10 bathroom isnt expected.
Old fashioned walk up ice cream stand. Old music and old cars. Very good ice cream. Great selection of flavors.
Excellent prices and delicious ice cream. Fast service with a frown.
This was my third time here and I have to say hands down probably the best place to get ice cream
Love this spot for ice cream and milkshakes!! So much variety in flavors and sizes! I like the old diner vibes!!
I wont get ice cream anywhere else. My whole family loves Dairy Joy.
I had the turtle Sunday in a waffle bowl this week. Super tasty.
I was disappointed in my mint chocolate chip milkshake. It really didn’t have much flavor, I could barely taste the mint and they use chocolate shell as the chip. Not what I was expecting.
It’s a cute place with good service. ice cream was really good too.
I love to go here for ice cream. The ice cream is great and the staff is very friendly. I’ve met the nicest people here. The place is clean and the tables outside are great to have a ice cream and take a break. Go you won’t be disappointed.
This has to be my most favorite ice cream place in Florida. It looks like something that came out of the 80s in an amazing way. Its also very cheap for such good ice cream.
They have amazing non-dairy (df), gluten free ice cream! Tastes just like regular old school, home-made ice cream. And, you get a lot of ice cream for the price. A small comes with a LOT of ice cream. Ill come back and try the non-dairy milkshake next time 😋
Twice in the last week, went with my lonely co-worker and we both got banana splits and sooo damn good! 😂😋 You have to try them, yummy
Definitely a fun place to visit! Would go again. Their banana split is to die for!
Just frickin awesome! So many choices, so many toppings, so much Elvis! You have to try this local gem. I grew up in a small town with a local ice cream stand that was like this. No pomp and circumstance, just great ice cream treats at a great price with great service! Its just pure Dairy Joy.
Family owned and the staff is so friendly! Everything on the menu is great, but my favorite are the malts! There is also a super cute area in the back to relax and enjoy your ice cream.
South Tampa classic...Ordered my go-to which a medium, chocolate, chocolate dipped cone. So delicious!
Really good ice cream. Huge hotdogs, also super good. Very fast service.
Family operated business is great for Little kids on hot days Who smile at cold treats.
Super yummy! 4 stars because I somehow expected more from the local hype. Its a cute throwback soft serve joint, and the service was quick and friendly, but nothing was phenomenal. The outdoor seating is covered- which is a big plus for unexpected Florida showers. Everything is spaced if youd like to keep social distance. We will go back as a family, but I dont think Id seek this place out. More a convenient place to stop if youre already passing by.We had the soft serve, pumpkin ice cream, and a hot dog and it was great!
Dairy Joy was owned by the same couple for like 40 years. Im glad the new owner is keeping the brand and giving it a facelift, however with the old owners gone, the old prices have gone too; expect to spend $12-13 for two.
Great place. Pets rule. Thanks.
Love this place, been here for years . We go about once a week and it never disappoint us .
Lov the atmosphere! Great Customer service n tasty icecream! Highly recommend
Ice cream is delicious! Would give five stars but mosquitos are out of hand.
My sister and I came here when she was here out of town. It was pretty late in the evening and it was storming so it was pretty nice to get there and see they had a little patio and all the lights. This place looks adorable at night. This was honestly the first time i had ever come close to finishing a sundae in one sitting. It was so delicious!
I just moved to south Tampa area and this is my favorite ice cream spot in tampa hands down😎 also very nice customer service 😊
Who cant appreciate an old school ice cream spot? From a simple cone to a complex treat in a banana split boat, the execution is perfect. And, if I may say, delicious. Keep up the great work! Ill see you next time Im craving ice cream!
Dairy Joy offers the BEST QUALITY frozen treats, customer service, and vibes! This is definitely my #1 Tampa Ice Cream Spot. Order the banana split, and thank me later!
The best place for cones and treats in South Tampa .
Old time drive up ice cream it was great would differently be back
Loved this place since I was a kid! Always has great ice cream and pretty cool people!
Talk about one of the last classic places left in Tampa, went there five minutes before they close and ordered a banana split the woman couldnt have been any nicer made it custom just like I wanted, sat outside by the Retro golf carts ice cream everything was so fresh and delicious highly highly recommend Dairy Joy on South Manhattan Avenue
Cool place with very good ice cream!!!
I always enjoy Dairy Joy. Service is super quick and items are priced fairly. I usually get a milkshake (cake batter or Butterfinger). Get it spoon thick so its just like a Dairy Queen Blizzard.
Great place for ice cream!! So many different choices even specials for seasons/holidays etc. and I love the old fashioned retro atmosphere!!
Love the homey ambiance, but considering this place has been around FOREVER, I would expect nothing less. Shakes, cones, sundaes, and tons of toppings. So many flavors of hard ice cream and soft serve. If you cant find something to suit your taste buds, you arent looking hard enough. You can play cornhole too! Get a t-shirt while youre there...
Great ice cream spot, definitely a great experience and theming for an ice cream shop. The dipped cones are wonderful, nice outside seating.
Ice cream is very good and staff are friendly and nice. Its a popular location in Tampa and anyone whos a local here will recommend anyone to give this place a try.
Great place to take our Grandkids.
Nice little nostalgic Ice Cream stand. Banana Split was hearty and delicious. First time visit. Wont be the last
The best little ice cream stop in South Tampa! Highly recommend.

Always delicious, always cold, always messy, as it should be.
Friendly Staff, great ice cream, clean and safe.

They have the best ice cream in town :)
Ive been coming here since I was a young boy
Service is quick.. The Sundaes were average at best.
Pretty good dairy free gluten free vanilla ice cream.
Great, unique and clasical flavors! Always go when we are in the mood for a banana split!
A classic 50s style ice cream shop. Friendly service but gets busy.
Gotta have my milkshake my boyfriend always gets icys
Ice cream was good and 50s styling created a 1950s ambiance.
Fantastic! They have done a great job with the new decor! Love the little Drive-in cars.
I like it here, great food & service. This place has a great design. Atmosphere is similar to a place in Columbus I loved.
Hands down the best ice cream in Tampa. The place is too cute for words, their owners are the sweetest family I have ever met and the work they have done to fix the place up amazes me. Truly a Tampa gem!
Elvis approved kid loved great ice cream
Love, love, love Dairy Joy!I went to this icon ice cream stand over 50 years ago. Madison Jr. High was just around the block and we would meet there before and after school. 😋🍧🍨🍦
Very filling. The service was friendly and observant. This place has a nice atmosphere.
Great ice cream and a nice atmosphere outside to enjoy it!
Great little old-fashioned ice cream joint. After going here I get why the DQ left. Ice cream is extremely good and well-priced. Great little spot to grab some treats!
The absolute cutest place !
It was ok. Service ok. Nice atmosphere.
Actually westshore pizza food truck at Dairy Joy. Food was great and more than enough to fill you up. The burger was a little undercooked for me but still delicious and thier steak and cheese hoagie is large enough for two. As always the pizza hot and fresh. Food is made to order but worth the wait. Every one she give it a try. Dairy Joy on a Manhattan. TOTALLY ROCKED
Very good ice cream!
Love this place, great friendly people and awesome ice cream, a fun place to bring the kids and the whole family.
I go here a lot. It’s very family friendly and not expensive. They have a large selection of ice cream and sell hotdogs. It’s very retro and pretty. Outdoor seating only.
My kids lived it here! 🥰
Always a great place to stop in and get a treat.
Great ice cream and atmosphere
Service was Quick and Fast, On top of that everything of 10/10. 10/10 would go again 100% recommend.
