I visited on the off chance that they might have shoe traction devices. They do, for rent. They hooked me up with two pairs along with a packing label and box for me to ship them back. My daughter and I were able to hike in the Grand Canyon and Bryce safely thanks to them. Excellent knowledge, customer service, and problem solving.

Awesome experience, would recommend LowerGear Outdoors to everyone! We began looking at kayaks at LowerGear Outdoors in May and were blown away by the high level of customer service and knowledge. Dallas took the time to find out exactly what we were using the kayaks for, made recommendations based on our needs and then went through all of the different features that could be beneficial to us. We needed to save up before we could make the purchase and there was absolutely no pressure from them.We went back in July with a few more questions and once again, Dallas was extremely helpful and made sure all of our questions were answered. We picked up our kayaks this past Thursday and Dallas went over every part of the kayaks with us to ensure we were educated before ever taking the kayaks out on the water. He made sure we understood how to use the pedal drives, gave us suggestions on what to do when we are coming to shore to ensure we do not damage the pedal drive, and really made us feel comfortable about switching back and forth from the pedal drive to paddling. It meant a lot to me that he took the time to go over everything on both kayaks to help ensure we have a great experience using and transporting the kayaks.We loved that we could get everything we needed in one place, we got a roof mount for the kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and a kayak stabilizer at the same time. They even helped us install the roof mount and load up the kayaks to ensure we knew exactly how to safely transport them.We took the kayaks out to Butcher Jones on Sunday and had a blast kayaking around Saguaro Lake to scout areas that need our help removing trash. Everyone was commenting on the pedal drives and how easy it was to move around, I love that I can go backwards and forwards! The owners are avid outdoorsmen themselves and provided me with some useful info as a novice when it comes to fishing. The rental prices are good, the rod I got was of high quality, and the tacklebox I received with the rental was well stocked.

Came in to pick up something I was looking for. They had what I needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store overall is pretty bland and not super inviting but I guess they just do what they do. Lots of gear to check out and rent. Nice supporting a smaller shop for your outdoor adventure needs!

The online ordering process, including picking up and dropping off in store, was a breeze. The hiking poles we rented were very nice and in great shape. The rental prices are very reasonable for the quality, making this an extremely easy decision to rent vs. buy on my last trip out to Arizona. The location is fairly close to the PHX airport and in a nice area, so you can access to store easily.

There selection was limited and I felt their prices were at the peak of the scale for Kayaks. Finally, no discounts on the shipping of purchase.

Excellent customer service, prices and gear. Rented a child carrier backpack this past summer. Stock was low due to covid. They keep us updated throughout the process. A brand new pack was shipped in time. Highly recommend and will definitely use for rental gear again.

I dont know the name of the person at the front desk who helped me with a sleeping pad rental. He was super helpful, made the rental simple and friendly. I rented this during this ongoing covid situation. Lower Gears equipment was maintained well, and I used it for 5 night straight. This is the second time Im using lower gear to rent equipment, the first time I had rented a bear canister. Will be coming back to their store in future.

Rented tent here, they have videos with the exact same equipment which was super helpful. Rent did hold in the winds of Grand canyon. Renting was way cheaper compared to hotel/airbnb.

I rented a 1 person lightweight tent from them. I loved it. You cant beat $40 for a week long adventure. Theyre friendly and nice. I called and asked lots of questions (I love out of town), they answered my questions and Id come back here in a heartbeat.

We have two school-age boys and wanted to try a tent-camping trip. We didnt want to invest in a bunch of camping gear only to find out that they dont like camping. So we found LowerGear online and visited the store. Very nice folks and convenient location for gear rental pickup and drop off. Online rental process was super easy and the kids had a great time! Tent was super easy to set up and the LED lamps were tiny strong. Will definitely rent again or even shop to buy!

We would rate them higher if I could. What a great find LowerGear has been for our trip. The gear we rented (2 packs, tent, sleeping bag, pads, and trekking poles) arrived a day early and was in great shape. Of course it is used gear and showed wear, but worked exactly as it should for backpacking. We are grateful and will use them again. We called to confirm the order after placing online and that interaction was great as well.

I live in Dallas and was traveling to Europe for vacation.. I needed a backpack but I didn’t want to invest $300+ and buy a backpack that I’d only use once. That’s when I came across LowerGear which turned out to be a great experience. The prices are extremely reasonable and the customer service is amazing. I booked to rent a backpack last minute and as soon as I booked I got a call to go over the details of what I needed it for to get the proper size and to make some modifications to ensure I got the backpack on time.. which I did! The backpack came in when I was promised and it was perfect for what I needed it for, it fit everything and was easy enough to carry!Just to show how great their customer service is, as I was traveling back home, my airline lost my luggage (my rented backpack) causing me to not make the deadline for returning my backpack on time. I talked with LowerGear about the luggage problem and they were extremely understanding and waived the late fee!!All in all, great experience and if I ever need a backpack again, this is where I’ll go! Ive been a customer for several years. I have rented GPS tracking hardware. The service has always been excellent and timely. Now I find it they are also a very fair organization. I had to cancel a rental and I was treated with utmost respect and fairness by the owner, Dallas. I would highly recommend doing business with this organization. I will be a returning customer.

When I called to see if they had a specific map in stock, they had one left and held it for me until I arrived in town a few days later. I was very impressed with this service. They also carried used fuel containers for backpacking stoves, which were great for us out-of-towners who couldnt bring our own fuel on the plane trip down.

Awesome store! I first attended one of the Kayak fishing tournaments they hold monthly. I live outside of town so I was finally able to make it into the store and its an awesome place. Today I picked up some maps for a couple lakes. But everything was priced great.

I needed an obscure piece of equipment for my wife’s Osprey water bladder. Not only did they have it, they installed it for me on the spot. I never would have been able to figure it out myself. These guys know their stuff and how it works. It was a super great experience.

Just purchased a New Hobie PA12 from Dallas and Bryce and couldnt be happier. Great service and very knowledgeable about everything. Originally planned on the outback due to size but once I saw the PA12 again in person had to jump on it. Prompt and quick service for any questions. A+ guys!!!

It is a bit of a trick to find, but if your headed for the great outdoors and want to be properly equipped with the best equipment for the job-- look no further. Weve bought a kayak and a few other things from LowerGear. The staff is very helpful in discussing the pros/cons of different options, are definitely knowledgeable, and never give you the hard-sell. Ive stopped in many times to kick the tires and talk about options on different things and always felt like I learned something to move the process forward. They tend to carry a lot of the brands that I would personally recommend for outdoor gear - generally the higher end equipment but not over the top. We were given a personally scheduled delivery, set-up, instructions, and demo of a brand new Hobie kayak at Town Lake with no obligation to buy. Pricing is good. Comfortable, friendly atmosphere.

Picked up a map of the Superstition Wilderness and the gentleman there was great. Ill be going back periodically to check for deals on their used backpacking gear. If youre into hiking, camping, backpacking or again, I highly recommend checking out Lower Gear.

I didnt want to invest in new gear so I rented most of the stuffI needed for a 5 day backpacking trip through Yosemite. LowerGear came through exactly as they said they would. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking to rent gear. They were receptive, thorough, and flexible. I live in the Midwest and recommend them to anyone anywhere in the country.

If youre looking for good service, you probably wont find it here. Seems like they just roll with whatever walks in and dont care if you stay--or come back. If youre looking for anything besides random kayak parts, go somewhere else. I went there looking for a camping lantern---he literally said we dont carry those, go to Target.

The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. Ive worked boot fitting at a high end ski shop for two years, and I can tell he wants to make sure you end up with the right equipment for your needs. The shop also carries some great brands like ULA and Ahnu that are uncommon to find. I would highly recommend checking out this shop for any hiking/backpacking needs.

I rented a GPS unit from these folks in June to use in Great Britain. They never told me that the Garmin unit they were renting was only equipped with North America software. I couldnt download the proper software and so the unit was useless. The owner after many emails agreed to a partial refund only which was only a small percentage of the cost to me, so I am going with only 3 stars. Unit was all scratches and buckle was broken.

Just stopped in to buy some backpacker meals and a fishing license. They no longer do licenses so i went to bass pro website to see what their backpacker meals costed and they were 2-3$ more each. Bought them at LowerGear then went to basspro for the license.

Awful!!! I booked a storage roof rack on June 12th, 2015 for pick up date of July 3rd. Order went thru and a confirmation was given. I called today, July 2nd to make sure all was in order and to ask holiday hours for Friday July 3rd. They said, oh yeah, I was going to call you today and tell you we are all booked out. He them told me he would order some more for his stock. I will call you back. I got an email back from them, sorry but they wont have any available until Monday.. I am leaving on July 4th...now I am stuck without. Real nice!
