This place is apparently more of a hang-out than I was aware of! I met a coworker here to work on a project, and it appeared that many others were also meeting friends/classmates/groups, etc. There were so many people grouped up that I had to stand near the door and wait for a table to open up! I ordered a berry smoothie and a brownie (which were so good, by the way), and I was surprised to find a sweet little message written on the lid of my drink. While I do wish they had more food/drink options, what they do have tastes great! Such a nice little coffee shop!

We decided to try Java Haute based on all the awesome reviews we saw. We ordered the shot in the dark, an oat milk chai latte, and strawberry poptarts. Overall, it was pretty good. I was a little sad we didn’t get cute messages on our lids though. Maybe next time! It looks like a nice spot to hang out or work, but we were traveling through and took our order to go.

Got a cup of coffee and a raspberry lemon thyme scone. The coffee was a little burnt tasting, but OK, and the thyme flavor in the scone did not complement the flavor of the coffee AT ALL. It was honestly pretty bad eating them together, made me wonder why someone put thyme in a coffee treat.The seating in the place was great, but the poor tasting food had me wishing I’d gone to starbucks. I just didn’t vibe here. College hangout, locals hangout, not really for anyone else it seemed.

Wanted something different, but not “too” different because I always order the same thing. So I said what I liked and they made me a “Bees Knees.” She said if I didn’t like it, let her know and she would fix something else. It was perfect! Love the atmosphere here. Love the laid back staff. Great place to meet. For those of us stuck in a rut, it would be nice to have a way to sample new things, but I will probably order the Bees drink for at least a few months before being brave enough to try something else new. 😂

My chai vanilla latte was perfect; my brownie not so much. The atmosphere is pretty happening. Plenty of spacing.

Java Haute is a quaint little coffee shop. They are very clean, and have tasty pastries, not to mention the coffee selection!! SO GOOD!

Very nice staff, fresh food, homemade syrups. This place is definitely worth it, better than starbucks for sure. They also write the cute messages on your cup.

Ive been going to Java Haute for 16-18 years. Ive given it 5 stars every single time, except for the past year. Before Ive recommended it and spread the local love. Now with homemade syrups, the flavor is very weak most of the time (cinnamon roll, turtle couldnt taste caramel, bees nees). Sad the smoothie flavors are so limited and wild. My kids have tried 2 of the 3 and dont like them. Three other previous regulars I know say the same thing. Any hopes of getting some of the old syrups back?

Good coffeeI am reediting my review off of more time I have experienced at this place. I have tried a few different drinks and like any normal person there is always something you like more then others. I have not had anything Ive just hated though. The staff are always extra sweet even when the look on their face says they might not be having the best of days. The place is adorable and always appears to be clean.

Went there yesterday. Ordered a hot turtle mocha. It was the bomb and the cranberry orange muffin was tasty, and perfectly balanced sweetness and tartness. There was a sweet personal note written by the excellent barista on my cup which brightened my day. Highly recommend!

Great coffee, tasty food, and fascinating artwork. The employees were super friendly and they even brought over a peach and rosemary scone for free. We had an awesome experience and hope to be back soon.

They used to have amazing coffee, but they changed it for some reason. Now its a guessing game, whether its even drinkable. At least half of the time, its terrible.The staff and customer service, of course, is wonderful. They did help me find something similar to what they used to make, and it can be very good, but they only have that type of coffee in the morning.I personally give up on this place. Ive wasted so much money hoping the coffee will be good on that day.

Its a local wabash valley business. Friendly staff. Welcoming setting, to sit for just a bite to eat or work on assignment. Awesome eats to choose from and beverages. Not to mention the artwork throughout the building is visually stimulating.

Great study/work space in Terre Haute. Best seating in town for work and the food is pretty good. They make an amazing chai and their baristas are friendly. Use their back rooms or chill out in the open area. The WiFi is great and the atmosphere/lighting is very soothing. Bakery items are delicious. The drive through is for drinks and bakery items only so if its lunch time, you have to come inside to eat.

Ive lived in Terre Haute for five years now and have been coming here regularly since day one. I love the atmosphere and artwork.They recently slimmed down their menu and no longer serve sandwiches and such. Their new toast options are very good though. The avocado and feta was delicious. Ive tried a lot of gluten free breads, and their homemade is awesome. I havent tried the salads yet, but I bet theyre very good. The coffee is always good.My wife is less inclined to go here anymore, as she is not a coffee drinker and loved the baked potato grilled cheese. 😔 She hopes they will have something similar as a special Toast of the Week option at least in the future. She hopes the new menu works out well.The staff is great, too! Didnt want to forget to say that. 🙂

Literally my favorite place to study in this city. Ample outlets, great variety of both hot & cold drinks. Food options are good... Could be a little more reasonably priced given that studying often makes you purchase more, but its tolerable because of the staff... Ive not met a bad one yet!

A quintessential local coffee shop and cafe, unexpectedly found in a small town. Great coffee, lots of tables and booths, wifi, and tasty breakfast, lunch, and dessert items (though with a limited selection) make Java Haute a favorite hangout for college students, faculty, and East-side residents. While there is a drive-through, you must go inside to get the full vibe. Highly recommended.
