Much better than the Houma location. Everything is easy to find, the aisles are spaced great enough that it doesnt feel so narrow when theres other shoppers down there. My only 2 complaints is that the staff in the firearms department lack the knowledge of firearms to be able to work the department. They cannot explain the quality and even reliability of them. Theyll just say you get what you pay for. And secondly, they are too pushy with the membership credit card. Last time I was asked by 3 employees if I wanted to sign up. The first I politely said no. The second I cut him off and politely said Im not interested. And the third was at the register and the other employee cut her off and said no he doesnt want it. Is doesnt want to save money. I think that was very unprofessional. Personally I should not have to be asked if I want to sign up for a credit card to save money while doing the background check on my purchase. That should be asked at the register and the cashiers should not start explaining right as they ask. They should at least ask if Id be interested in signing up or if Id like information. Once the customer declines they should drop it, no keep on asking and hassling us about it.

After the recent hire that the phone handed it off to a manager (James). Who hunted down my item as if he was a seal looking for some krill. I know now should I ever need something Im gonna ask to speak to James.

Lil to expense

Out of 9mm bullets as usual. No 9 mm hand guns. Very few .22 cal or available. This has been going on for weeks. Why cant u order things as needed.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a nice staff member. She was very helpful. It turns out that Academy is pet friendly. Me and my dog Gracie were able to walk around with no hurry and just look around. Made for a good experience.

Love this Academy! They usually have what we need, and their school uniforms are the cheapest around with excellent quality.

Clean store. Not many shoes in stock to choose from. Many shelves are empty.

Got clothes for school however didnt have belts in stock. Did get everything my daughter needed after making volleyball team in one trip. Love it for softball season too!

While I did find alot of what I wanted i wanted to comment on the rudeness by the employee wearing the camo mask in the firearms section. When asked about the available selection of rounds he was acted like me asking if they had .380 in stock was beneath him though he was polite to literally everyone else in the department. The cashier however was as friendly and polite as humanly possible. Do better academy. I wont be returning to this location due to that employees treatement.

Terrible experience at this store today. So frustrated that this is the first bad review I have ever given. Found a Cyber Monday deal online for a fire pit that stated “visit store to purchase” due to limited quantity. Went to the Thibodaux, LA location and they had 1 left in stock. At first I was told I would have to purchase online and choose in store pick up, which I tried to do. Due to the limited stock it would not let me purchase online. At this point I was told they could not sell it for the sale price, which was 40% lower. After questioning the manager again since it clearly stated online to visit store to purchase he said he would override the price, but it would be a non returnable sale. So, if I got it home and it did not work we could not return to store. Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, their website clearly directs you to the store to purchase at the sale price, but they refused to sell it at that price unless I accepted the no return stipulation on a product that had to be assembled. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Decent chain store. Only issue issue I find is they dont keep up on stock (fishing).I would like to believe they carry more than 10 packs of a soft plastic lures or hooks.Academy keep an inventory to keep shelves stocked. I have been ordering via online from other companies due to no inventory

Worst experience of any Academy. Store website claimed had inventory item in stock, called to verify and even asked store representative to touch the elliptical machine as my drive was nearly 2 hours. Store representative assured me unit was at the location, I advised would be there in a couple of hours to purchase. Arrived and was told by Manager of supplier issue? Offered to give me free shipping which was already free on the website. Horrible experience, I will shop other sporting goods stores in the future. Lack of professionalism and completely incompetent operation. Please do not waste your time on Academy. Wasted 5 hours on a Saturday dealing with this sad excuse for a retail store.

Academy Sports and Outdoors has UPF clothing and my daughter found me a pair of gloves that were UPF which is just like SPF. We found so many bargains I almost went broke saving money lol. Theres plenty of parking. Theres an entire row of socks so many socks they had a great selection of shoes and boots. I also purchased a pair of binoculars that are infrared and R-rated third best in the universe we have been enjoying those.
