My service here was A1. The man that took care of our vehicle did a great job. My family dealt with a previous mechanic shop that was a complete and utter rip off. They were trying to charge us between $5,000 and 7,000 for something that was really a $1,000 job. I so glad there are real and honest mechanics still out there that dont screw their customers. Certified Transmission has my business for sure and Id recommend them to anyone for transmission troubles.
I picked up my truck and noticed it had a leak in the seal between the transmission and motor (rear seal). I called up there and he said they always offer to replace it if it is leaking. I told him I was pretty sure it’s leaking. He said bring it back and let them look. On the way up there my alternator died too. When I got there the truck wouldn’t even start again so they jumped it and got it into a bay. Sure enough the seal was leaking. He told me “we usually charge for this but since we did not offer it I will replaced it for free.” I was very impressed as it is not part of a transmission repair, although it is very easy to fix with the transmission off. They we’re even kind enough to put the new alternator (I provided) on for free. You get what you pay for and these guys proved to me that they will stand behind their reputation. Thank you Certified Transmission 👍🏼
I called Robert & Wayne In a frantic state of mind from my Allstate insurance denying my claim from repairing my vehicle with a previous mechanic, High Master Auto, telling me I needed a new transmission in my 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. I was T Boned on my driver door, fender area; May 1, 2021. Wayne told me that Certified Tranmission had over 40 years in experience & working with all of the insurance companies. They promised they would be able to help me & I just Got the okay!!!! Turns out, it was not my transmission, it was the transmission casing. With that being said, that makes BIG difference & prevents my car from being a number of things: my car from being salvaged, me from losing all the money I have paid to my finance company for the last year in a half and my sanity! I am so so so grateful for Robert & Wayne because they not only saved my Benz, but my pockets as well! I appreciate the professional, over the phone ettiquettes I received, as well as the effort they put forth to genuinely help me. I will surely and forever recommend Certified Transmission to anyone in a similar situation as myself in the future! Thank You Again!!!!
Great customer service, very friendly and professional people that stand behind their work. It was a pleasure doing busines with them.I highly recommend Certified Transmission.
It all started with leaving a message. From there my experience only got better. Wayne, the owner, called me himself and informed me of his policy. The dealership told me fixing my transmission would cost about $4,500. Wayne told me that was ridiculous and quoted $2,500 instead. He also had a tow company come with a flatbed truck to my residence at no charge to me. I was told my jeep would be ready by Friday so when I received a phone call on Tuesday with news that it was done, I was extatic. The transmission that went in was in fact the more expensive of the two options and its cost was more than $2,500. As only the best businesses do, Certified Transmission honored the original quote. The transmission is now in fantastic working condition. If you want your transmission work done right, call Certified Transmission.
Be careful. I believe this shop does do quality work. I have confidence they do the repairs right. However, dont trust what you read on their website.1) Free towing? Not for me. Their site says serves the greater Houston area but they charged me a lot extra for towing because my truck was too far away even though it was well within Harris County. 2) Repair time? Their site says If we’re rebuilding your transmission, we can usually get your vehicle back to you the same or next day. It took them a solid week to rebuild mine. 3) Rebuild cost? Was told $1499 for the rebuild but there could be some extras. I get a call back days later and was told it was the worst case, and I owed $700 just for opening the trans up. I was then charged for a torque converter and trans fluid. Wouldnt refilling fluid be included in the rebuild price? I also needed a rear main seal, so my final cost was close to $3000. When I politely told the guy that the close to $3000 price was a lot more than I expected, he told me he would do me a favor by giving me more time to decide to buy their lifetime warranty for hundreds more. I was already way, way too tapped out to even consider their favor of spending more money with them. Bottom line is, they really do great work. Just watch out as you deal with them and their pricing.
If you are looking for honest, upfront communication do not come here. We took our truck here and would never get updates unless we called up there ourselves. Robert seemed annoyed anytime we called to get information and always replied with Ill call you back when I have information, which was not the case. My husband and I had enough and went to go check on our truck in person. It turned out that someone had walked onto the property and busted out several vehicles windows and we were not notified that our truck was one of those. Obviously we were upset about not being notified. When we questioned Robert about it he got upset that we were asking questions and for the police report and kicked us out of the office. We had to call the cops ourselves to come there to get the report information from Robert for our vehicle. When we finally got our vehicle back it still had a leak because the transmission lines were not put back together correctly. We notified them but instead of taking it back there (which I was not going to do) we had a family mechanic look at it and fix that issue. We will never be going back here even if there is a warranty. The owner has another shop not too far away in Tomball and offered our warranty to be transferred there but if this place is ran this way, I can only imagine how all other locations are ran. If a ZERO rating were possible, I would have given that.
Very good place to get honest work done on your car or truck. Robert is the Man! He went out his way to ensure that my truck would be fixed even when I couldnt afford the repair bill, he worked with me and made sure I got my truck back on the road. Well worth the drive to Tomball.
The place because they do what they say theyre going to do. You will get a life time warranty if you ask them about it
I had my transmission rebuilt. They are great. .my wife loves Robert and there crew. This shop has repaired 4 of my cars. Robby tell your guys Im bringing lunch. On Tuesday. There great I will be back
They are very much appreciated and I am sure they will do great
RUDE RUDE RUDE. I had a crying child while my sister was trying to get prices for her transmission. We had asked ROBERT (the owner/manager) to repeat what he said because we couldn’t hear. He told us “ you need to go sit that child down somewhere “ then hung up TWICE then proceeded to talk over us THE LAST CALL refusing to take our call any further because of a crying child who is 1 years old.ROBERT YOU ARE REALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND A DAMN SHAME. And not family friendly
READ GOOGLE REVIEWS. The reviews paint a vivid picture on the type of service Robert Boyce / Certified Transmissions provides. This company has a history of providing bad service and faced with an issue react unprofessionally. They had the vehicle 20 days. 10 days past Roberts communicated completion date. Robert never called to provide an update and showed the same unprofessional behavior when questioned about his lack of communication. The last conversation we had was on a Friday Robert said I have everyone working on your truck, it will stay in the shop until we figure out the problem We went Monday at noon since Robert chose not to provide any updates. We noticed the rear bumper was missing from the truck, then noticed the hub caps were missing plus other items and a tool box. Keep in mind the truck was left outside and unlocked. Parked directly outside their 3 bay doors. That morning Robert nor any of his employees noticed a customers vehicle had been stripped. Robert never apologized he lied and said this has never happened in 20 years. I said not according to your google reviews. His response was the customer were lying. Robert said he did not want to file on his insurance and said he would write a check. We filed a police report then emailed him the list of stolen property. Again, no communication from Robert. The following day he said it was forwarded to the home office and he would know something in a couple of weeks. email and when contacted said that he sent to their home office. Then said he would know something in a couple of weeks. Who treats their customers this way? Who would let a customer leave their establishment with no bumper, no license plate and all the wiring cut going to the lights? He sets up customers with a $1800 to $2200 estimate and ends up with $4000 and expects payment up front then cant write a check to satisfy the stolen property. Read the reviews!! Many tell the same story. Keep in mind they will leave your car in an unsecured parking lot. INEPT CAMERAS. NO CARE FOR YOUR PROPERTY. Now in the process of hiring an Attorney and figuring out who the insurance carrier is since Robert cannot simply make a mature business decision. Police have already verified the theft occurred on property. Will up date this post until ROBERT BOYCE resolves this issue including legal fees. If your reading this....there will no no doubt ROBBIE responds to the review by making excuses.Update 10-14-20NO Communication from Robert. He is simply a bad person, lousy business person. Will not a any information on issuing the check he promised. Says he has a home office but wont provide their information tried to provide a lame email. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH CERTIFIED TRANSMISSION. HUGE amount of consistency in complaints waged against them.
EASILY the worst experience Ive ever had with a mechanic. They picked up my truck on the weekend, Monday was a holiday so I knew they wouldnt get into it until Tuesday or Wednesday. When I called at the end of the first week Jim told me they had to fire someone for quality issues so it would be the next week. Then it was the next week. Then the next week. Then my truck had an exhaust leak so they brought it to an exhaust shop to replace a manifold stud. On the way there the hood flipped open, hit my roof and my windshield wipers cracking a brand new paint job, the hood mounts tore through the firewall and the hood slammed back down and shattered the radiator outlet. They decided only to inform me about the radiator, saying it just blew when they got to the exhaust shop. The exhaust shop charged me 120 to replace a stud with bolts but didnt fix the leak. Certified towed my truck back to me in the heights. It took about 3 days to catalogue everythi g I found wrong. When I texted the first few pictures Jim informed me that his people had fixed my hood latch. They fixed it so well that the safety latch was seized and the hood could be opened fully just by using the release in the cab. So, here goes the damage: the shifter boot was installed over my carpet and screwed into the loose carpet rather than the original bracket. The clutch fluid reservoir wasnt even closed. The hood has a ridge where it hit the roof and the paint was damaged to the point where it was cheaper to replace that to replicate the paint job. The clutch damper they agreed to bypass was still there. The hood cowl was mangled, all the brand new plastic gromets holding it in were destroyed and they just sheet metal screwed it to my quarter panel, they lost the weather stripping. The fire wall where the hood brackets are had to be cut out and replaced with new angle stock. The vehicle speed sensor is attached to my transmission with a wire hung on 2 housing bolt because the sensor mount broke off. And on top if all of this: THE TRANSMISSION LEAKED ALL OVER MY DRIVEWAY from the moment I got it back. I SHOULD have swapped a refurb myself for 900, but I wanted to save time. Certified cost me 1700 and 4.5 weeks, 120 for their friend to not affect my exhaust af all. it took 2 more weeks to get them to pay for the damage to be repaired at another shop and I had to take it to another shop to do the pinion seal that was leaking because Wayne refused to answer or return my calls after I asked him if the whole trans was warrantied or just the parts they replaced (didnt want to tow it up there and then get swindled for more).IF you bring your vehicle to this shop; document everything before it goes, body, paint, engine bay, transmission.Wayne never once expressed any surprise about the poor quality of work that was done. To this day they havent told me who was driving my truck (without a registration, 11+ miles) when the damage happened and as far as I know the person who tried to cover this up is still there. This seemed to be routine for them to damage a vehicle and return it inoperable.
Best Warranty in the business. Use Certified transmission, you’d be crazy not to, had my transmission rebuilt their 3 years ago, I do my annual service as required, recently started having some issues with my transmission and they honor their warranty, they are rebuilding my transmission at no chargeBruce and the team are men of their words and do great work! Thanks for the service
I brought my truck in to have the transmission rebuilt. They also replaced the rear main seal. A few days after getting the truck back, my wife and I went out to dinner. As I was attempting to park the truck, the gear shift got stuck and would not move left beyond the Neutral position. We were able to turn the engine off and go into the restaurant. Once inside, I called Robert, even though it was after he had closed for the day. About 20-30 minutes later, Robert called me back, which I did not expect. He said it sounded like an issue with the linkage and asked me to let him know if it continued to be an issue when we were leaving the restaurant. When we left, we had no more issues with it, so I texted Robert to let him know. He asked me to bring the truck in on the following Monday to check it. I did bring it in and he checked it over and told me they did not find any issues. I picked the truck up the next day and have not had any further issues related to that since then.I really appreciated Robert calling me back when I was at the restaurant. This level of customer service is rare these days.
Robert is a liar. Will give you a speech Free tow $1895 complete rebuild. When he gets your vehicle it will be $3650. I could go on about everything he said but it is too much. Once they have your car its $695+tax to get it back! I will never go back and they should be on the news on how they con people.
They stand behind there work.
Very professional. Transmission went out on the truck. Now I have a new one with lifetime warranty. Great people to work with.
These people quoted one price then asked for a higher one and even then my transmission did not work properly.
Me and my husband put in a request for a quote and they called us the next day at 9pm on a Sunday and said they would be here to pick our truck up at 10 the next morning. They drove a good ways to come pick it up and told us 3 hours later what was wrong. needed to be rebuilt and they gave us an amazing price. not even a week later it was done! And its running great.. definitely recommend them and will be using them again for sure
I have waited almost a whole year to write this review, because I wanted to really give my rebuilt transmission the run for its money before praising the company. So here goes - my car’s transmission blew out on me completely while I was driving on the highway (fun times...). It was dead. Some quick google search led me to Robert at Certified Transmissions. He arranged for a tow at no charge to me, checked it out and confirmed what I already knew - that it had to be rebuilt. It took them a few days, there were some hiccups along the way, which Robert worked with me to resolve. Those were definitely stressful times, seeing how I depend on my car for work. In the end the transmission ran as new. I am an Uber driver, so I put way more miles on it in a year than any regular driver. Now - a year and 55k miles later - my transmission still works like magic. Hey, Robert! The black Highlander From Hell says hi :DThank you again for everything, and I’ll see you soon at my yearly checkup!
Robert and his crew are great, this shop has repaired 5 transmissions in my family, this shop is the place to go, thank you and ill be back. my wife will be in with lunch
Really nice and professional shop. Did the work for the price quoted and in a timely manner.
Road tested car not a transmission problem honesty a rare shop
We had talked to 4 other shops. Everyone quoted a 3500 - 4000 repair on our 07 CR-V. We asked for a quote online yesterday. We got a call back asking us to bring it in for a free estimate. First off I was impressed that we got a call on a Sunday. Wayne said that it may not be anything major. But he wanted to get it in as soon as possible even offered to come get it for us. I dropped it off this morning and to be honest was not feeling optimistic. By noon Robert called us back and told us the car was fixed. All that was wrong was a loose mount. Saved us a ton of money. I’ll forever take any thing I have to them.
Staff was easy to deal with. The initial cost increased slightly from the initial cost, but understandable. They identified an additional problem, but agree to put the additional part on without charges, if I would go buy the part. Saved me about $100. Would recommend.
***I would like to add, they called me two weeks after I posted this review asking me how much it would cost to remove my review. I told them I wouldn’t accept money because they would still be in business and it’s more about ethics and morals than money.I took my vehicle here to get an estimate for a transmission repair. I was told that the diagnostic was a minimum of $689, and the maximum cost would be $1699. After approving the diagnostic, they came back with the attached document with an estimate of $3311.43. I told them I don’t believe some of these need to be repaired, and I would not be paying that, and I would agree to pay the $1699 I was told originally. They refused to repair the car for that price, and made me drive to the store to pay for the diagnostic charge in cash only. They did nothing to my vehicle but loosen a few bolts to make it look like they took the car apart, but charged $689 for this. I took it to someone that is trustworthy, and found out the problem is a simple gasket leak. All of these items “Needing repair” are complete lies. They are transmission components, but none of them are broken. What they don’t know is I’ve had experience in repairing shift solenoids and miscellaneous transmission components. I was told these could not be repaired without opening the transmission (Another lie). I will be paying the correct cost for this repair work, and I want everyone to know Certified Transmissions is untrustworthy and you should look elsewhere for transmission repair work. Forgot to mention, they purposely drained my car battery by leaving my lights on, so I had to jump the car in order for it to even start. Horrible experience with this company.
Although the repair took longer than I would have liked, I am very happy with the service and quality of the work done, and would highly recommend that if you want a thorough, professional job that is NOT rushed through, this is the place for you. I will definitely be using them in the future. Definitely a 5 star repair shop.
Great customer service, quick to contact you with any change or a call back if you miss them. Everyone there seems to always be hard at work. They did an excellent job on my transmission and attentive when I brought it back with a noise. They immediately looked it over and made it right. I defiantly recommend this business to others.
Did the work for the price quoted. Ill have to come back in 6 months to review the transmission, but so far everything is going good.
Fair prices, free towing if youre in their range.
***UPDATE: all items were in my vehicle when the tow truck driver YOU sent picked it up. I know this because my mother was there still when your driver arrived, matter of fact he had to wait on her to get the keys. For you to reply to my concerns EIGHT MONTHS later, only to blame someone else is pathetic. The company that you picked my car up from I’ve been dealing with since 2007. The ONLY reason they did not fix my car is because of financing availability.I picked up my car and while it runs well so far, MANY items were stolen out of my vehicle. Sunglasses, an umbrella, air freshener, cell phone charger, portable speaker, the extra battery for my key FOB, fuses, jumper cables, and some other things, all gone. Everything was inexpensive because I did take everything of value out of the car, but still. These items were stored in different places in my car so whoever took them searched my entire vehicle to get them (arm rest, glove box, back seat, under my seat, etc). When i asked the gentleman there, Gary, about my missing items, he had no clue and showed zero concern. Not sure if someone from the shop stole my stuff or the person Certified Transmissions hired to tow my car there but either way all my stuff is gone. I had every intention of referring my cousin here because the quote was great but I wouldnt recommend thieves to my worst enemy.
Absolutely great service! My 2007 H3, 220,000 miles, starting having transmission issues. I called Certified Transmissions. They picked up my H3 and rebuilt the transmission. The price was completely fair and came with a warranty. Gary was very communicative with me throughout the process and kept me informed. If I ever have issues with one of our other cars, I will not hesitate to call Certified Transmissions.
Service and support to get the best rebuilt transmission
Robert had my ugraded 68RFE in and out in a few days, all other shops were 2+week turnaround. He was the best price as well. Best all others by 600+ dollars backs his builds with lifetime warranty with yearly flush which is also the cheapest Ive found.
Really wasnt what I expected it really shocked me on the taste. Very good place to eat
As soon as we contacted them, they returned our call within 2 minutes. They told us step by step what to expect and took care of everything with outstanding service. I will not take my van anywhere else to be worked on. These guys are the best! Highly recommended!
I own a 2006 automobile for which Certified Transmissions totally overhauled the transmission a couple of years ago. I took my car to the local dealership for an oil change and was informed I had a serious transmission fluid leak. I immediately took the auto to have Robert look at it as they provide a life time guarantee on their reworked transmissions. With me watching, Robert’s team put the car on one of their lifts and all we could see was oil. I took it back to the dealership and they put it on their lift, and we saw mostly oil, but there was also two drops of red fluid, which was identified as transmission fluid. I took the auto back to Robert again and he again put it on the lift to find only oil. Weird, right? Keep in mind, I’m one of the spectators each time except for the initial diagnosis. The dealership had offered to drive out to Robert’s location to view the transmission with Robert. In spite of the fact there was no evidence of a transmission fluid leak, Robert’s only potential responsibility, he agreed to take the transmission off. The dealership manager came to the shop and he and Robert agreed there was no transmission fluid leak. Robert put the transmission back on the car and it now sits at the dealership to determine where the “oil” lead is coming from. All of Robert’s service was provided at no cost to me.Robert did not have to pull the transmission off the car. There was no overt evidence of a transmission fluid leak when at his shop. He did all of this in the interest of helping a frustrated customer as he saw I was getting nowhere fast and wouldn’t until both parties collaborated in making the final diagnosis, or what was determined to be only an oil leak, not a transmission fluid leak. This is the kind of service that can only be termed as “AWESOME!”. Thank you, Robert, for your concern and actions to help a frustrated customer. You’re the best!
Certified Transmission did a great job on my manual transmission rebuild. Very good job!
I took my 1997 dodge with NV4500 manual transmission into Certified when it would not go into gear. Charlie was easy to work with and he showed me all the parts that had gone bad and recommended the necessary repairs. They fixed what needed to be fixed and were honest. This is extremely hard to find. The price was great, the work even better. My truck shifts awesome and it is better than new!
Great experience with them fixing my Ford truck transmission. Super friendly folks. Bringing it back for my yearly service. Will recommend to all my friends. Thanks again.
I highly recommend Certified Transmission. My truck had 170000 miles on it and I could have been told anything. The honesty of this business fixed my vehicle for much less than other competitors i had taken the truck to and had me on the road in 3 days. Their friendly attitude was fantastic.
I had a great experience with them. I was quoted $400 at another repair shop and it was going to take them 5 days to finish the repair. I found this place online and Wayne was very helpful, he had my car towed to his shop Tuesday night and it was ready the next day. The best part is that the repairs were $250 with the tow fee included and my car is running great.
I brought my work truck in with a transmission problem. Jim walked me through every step of the repair, and answered all my questions. It was a trouble free experience, and significantly cheaper than what the dealer wanted to charge. 5/5 would use again.
I had a great experience with certified transmission . They towed my car all the way to Tomball from Katy . Reasonable price and my car feels great. Thank you!
5 stars. Everyone was very nice, very knowledgeable and thorough. They got our transmission diagnosed, rebuilt and returned to us in 3 or 4 days. Well refer them to anyone needing quality transmission repairs that can have a lifetime warranty for a nominal fee. We are impressed and thankful for their attentiveness when we needed it most.
I have a 1997 Chevy conversion van that needed a transmission. I contacted this shop. In the beginning they were very polite, but once they got my van in their shop everything changed. I came to find out they could only work on my van outside because they dont have a lift in the shop that can support the weight of my van, so if it rains they cant work on the van. Well fast forward 10 months and the transmission goes out again. I call them and they tell me the warranty doesnt cover towing, so it would have cost me over 200 dollars to have it towed in, so because Im mechanical intelligence I started working on it myself, and what I found was the bolts mounting the torque converter to the fly wheel came out. My first thought was hows that possible? Well looking at the bolts, they looked like the old bolts that should have been replaced. I spent 5 dollars to fix my problem. This is NOT A GOOD PLACE TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE FIXED, THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND CROOKED, RIP OFF ARTIST
What a great experience! Coming home from the deer lease this week-end, my Chevy 2500 diesel w/ Allison transmission starting making a high-pitched noise. I didnt know any transmission folks, but knew I didnt want just anyone working on my truck, so off to the internet I went. I found Certified Transmissions, read the reviews, and thought it was worth a call. I called and talked to Charlie, who asked the right questions, so right away I knew I was talking to a real mechanic. So I took my truck in, and Charlie listened to the truck, and before he even drove it, told me it wasnt the transmission, it was the power steering pump. Same kind of whine, but a much cheaper problem. He fixed it in less than a day, was very reasonable in price and got me back on the road. Although I didnt know it at the time, they do all kinds of auto repair, so I have found my new mechanic. I swear, it felt like throw-back to when you could trust your mechanic to treat you right. Thank you, Charlie! We will be back.
Very satisfied, had my BMW transmission overhauled and its performing great, plus outstanding customer service.
IF YOU TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP THEN U MUST REALLY HATE YOURSELF! THIS SHOP CUTS SO MANY CORNERS ITS UNREAL! THEY NEED TO CHANGE THE NAME TO CERTIFIED SHADE TREE TRANSMISSIONS!
Took our 2016 Nissan Altima to Robert and his technicians at certified transmissions. They did an excellent job and its like brand new again. I did some due diligence to find certified transmissions because there were almost no shops in Houston that wanted to touch this Nissan Altima CVT transmission. Would Highly recommend this transmission shop!!!
At the moment. Waiting on some solutions...Hopefully all will be fixed. Outstanding Folks here. Absolutely
Absolutely horrible! I never should have trusted a transmission shop that charges a removal/reinstall fee before giving an estimate. They removed my transmission and then gave me an estimate. I could not afford the repairs and my father-in-law offered to cover to cost at another transmission shop. Certified Transmissions reinstalled my transmission and did not even bother to tighten the bolts on the pressure plate, resulting in my truck being undrivable and having to be towed to the other transmission shop. Then they refused to refund me the cost of the removal/reinstall fee for failure to actually reinstall the transmission properly. I would not even give Certified Transmissions 1 star.Save yourself time and grief, take your vehicle to Evans Transmission in Conroe Texas instead.
So far a week later my truck is running awesome. You were very helpful and honest and courteous. You definitely deserve a 5.
Awesome shop. They are honest, they do great work and they have great integrity. A very rare quality in the automotive service industry.
DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!! This was my first time using this place and will be the last. I will update back with full write up. Truck has been there going on 3 days now so will see. I know the guy told me he would call me Monday and never did. Waiting to see if they call me and tell me what the problem is. They told me I would have vehicle back by Friday tho. Its now Thursday and not a single call. No clue what is wrong with it. No clue whats being done to it. No clue if still going to be done Friday. About to make a drive out there. I do not like shops that do not communicate with customers. Been 10 days since dropped vehicle off to them. And been 4 days since paid my bill and theyre now telling me be couple more days. Will update again in a few more days. If they ever get it done. They kept giving me excuses as to why was taking so long. Over charging on repairs. Charged me 2 hours to do a seal when should of been less then an hour seeing the 2 hours is book time with transmission removal but transmission removal was part of transmission rebuild. Was suppose to get an upgraded transmission cooler but the one they put in looks smaller then the factory one which they said they order cooler it came in but box was empty with no cooler in box so they had to go to auto zone and buy off shelf cooler. I finally got my vehicle back following Friday. Was there 2 weeks when originally was suppose to be 3 to 4 days. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!They keep pushing back when itll be done. They told me its a 2 to 3 day turn around. Going on day 10 now. Last Sunday I was told drop it off Monday morning Id have it back Friday. Well dropped it off at 8am Monday. Thursday came around I call them. And they said they got it out and apart. They tell me to pay so they can get working on it. Paid in full Friday morning they tell me itll be done Monday. I call Monday and they say Tuesday. Its Tuesday and I call and now they saying they found other problems with it They have to fix and for me to call back tomorrow Wednesday for an updated completion date. $2500 for transmission build. I will never refer them to anyone ever.
Im writing this review on behalf of my mother (who doesnt know how to use modern technology!). We took her Lexus here after getting scammed less than 16 months ago. Our previous mechanic charged us close to 5k to rebuild her transmission and ended up completely ruining her car! The car had been running horribly up until it finally completely gave out on us in November of this year. We shopped around a bit and finally settled on this place because the price was right (HALF of what we paid before) and we just had a good feeling about it! They did a fantastic job on the Lexus transmission and my Toyota Celica is next in line to get some repairs done as soon as were able. Wayne is a very nice man and we want to thank him for the work him and his crew did!
My experience with the shop has been horrible. My transmission was first repaired in November of 2016. The transmission has now failed 3 more additional times over the course of 4 months. Theyve had my truck for 15 total business days and it still isnt fixed. The manager Jim is an absolute wise ass and will give you every excuse in the books.Shocks me that this place can remain open with the service and total incompetence it has clearly show.
Robert is a liar and a thief!!! He tried to steal my car
I had my transmission done for my Cadillac CTS-V almost a year ago. These guys are honest and super friendly and took really good care of me. They are also really familiar with high performance cars. I really recommend them.
Worst transmission shop ever! Quoted one price, charged double. Less than a year and a half later, we have already replaced the transfer case twice and now the transmission is toast again! Horrible service, they made more problems rather than fix anything. Highly not recommended!
Great friendly staff and made my experience wonderful Fixed my transmission in a day or 2 and made my car run better then I had originally Ill recommend this place to ANYBODY!
I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire team at Certified Transmissions/Rutland Transmissions for working with me on my Lexus. Although the transmission was the problem, there was also a problem with the computer and it took a while to complete it but they stayed on it and got the job done. Thanks, again!
I called and got a quote over the phone to rebuild by manual transmission. Was told tops $1700. After they got into it everything in the transmission had to be replaced from the flywheel to the hydraulic system. To the key of $2200. It was also suppose to be completed in a few days. Almost 10 days later because they could not find parts or ordered incorrect parts. There was also a crack on the shifter housing that they did not replace with the rebuild of the transmission. Why would you not replace that with the original quote? I had to go and pick up a part on the other side of town for them. Now less than 2 months later the transmission has quit working and they are blaming it on being low on fluid. Its a manual transmission a sealed system. What did they do wrong when they put the transmission back together? At this point they have had the truck for 3 days and are now calling about the warranty issue. Also they said that they can not find another transmission. Its a 1995 GMC 1500 one of the most common trucks ever made. I would trust Wal-mart to due my oil change over these guys.
Good service really appreciate the time and effort!
Great service very understanding honest people overall very happy with their business and pleased to tell people this is the best place to go .. chance
They took too long to repair my truck. They promised it would be in a few days and it take weeks. They are friendly but customers service sucks. They lost two customers that was thinking a place to get their transmission service for fluid change but after they seen how long it for mines. I hope they would fix issue. I did have to return it behind the check engine light came on after the first repair to my transmission.
We spent 2k on a new transmission and after there was still some problems and he towed it back for free! seriously some really nice people and Robert has to have the best customer service Ive ever experienced.
Did a great job on my ford pu . sending lunch john and gary
My experience with Robert at Certified Transmission in Tomball, Tx was great! My sons car stopped on him after bringing to several different places we finally got the transmission fixed by the right people. After being fixed and having a minor issuse being fixed as well our sons car was back on the road again. If you are looking for your car to be fixed right, excellent customers, friendly service, wiling to work with you and reasonable then this is where you need to go. Thank you Robert and everyone who assisted with getting my sons car back on the road!Debra Smith
Had my Cadillac worked on at certified transmission shifts great AWESOME WORK billy is the best
I have had the check engine light on my car since I bought it 5 years ago. The code given was for a shift solenoid. Every time I took my car into a shop for an estimate they all gave me one for a rebuilt transmission and told me that was the only thing they can do to fix the problem although my car ran fine...???I took it to Certified and right away they told me it sounded like the switch or maybe electrical. NOT a rebuilt transmission. They repaired the switch and also had to put in an ecu (computer) it got stuck in limp mode while I was in route to their shop.Certified let me locate one and they installed it for me at no charge.I highly recomended Certified Transmission. They are friendly, HONEST, reasonable and just flat out good guys. I will always take my cars in to them.
Stay away from this place.I had a problem with my car being stuck in gear, figured it was a throw out/pilot bearing issue, they suggested it was the transmission. Why I have no idea, they claimed the noises had to be internal bearings, which made no sense. I asked my out of town tuner (to far for this repair) for the MX-5 if this was a common issue and his response was he had never heard of a failure like that before on these transmissions. They wanted to replace the transmission, at a tune of 3k+, I told them to get the clutch and pressure plate with bearings and change it all out, they charged me almost $800 for the job, once I got it back the clutch felt like it had allot of chatter in it and not smooth at all like you would expect from a new clutch, but I thought I would give it some time to break in, after a few days a squealing sound started only when the clutch was engaged. This made me think throw out bearing right off, as even putting the lightest pressure on the clutch pedal made the sound stop.I ended up taking it back and explaining the issue and right off said that they told me so and it needs a new transmission, I still think they believed at this point I had no idea about cars and was an easy target, I made up an excuse I didnt have the money and left. I took the car home and put it up on stands and crawled under it with a mechanics stethoscope to see if the sound was really coming from inside the trans or from the clutch/bearing. When I got under the car, what a surprise, they had left TWO of the four nuts that hold the transmission the the power plant frame OUT, just two bolts dangling there, no wonder it felt so much loser than before! I call them up to chew them out, and his response was They were missing when it came in. Ok, let me get this straight, someone brings in a car with transmission issues, you notice its missing two of the only four mounting points and you dont tell them?! I dont believe this excuse either, I am sure they left them out or lost them and just figured they would send me down the road, they wanted to sell me a new transmission anyway. While asking what kind of shop does stuff like this, the owner/manager says I will have the tech look for the nuts....But wait, I thought you just said they were missing when it came in? How are you going to find nuts you never had? At this point I decided to cut my losses even if they agreed to fix all the issues for free I didnt want a shop like this touching my car again. I left work and went right to the dealer, picked up the two nuts for $8, put them on when I got home and called another shop. I asked them how much to change out clutch and pressure plate with bearings, they said $450, I then asked how much more to install a light weight flywheel while they were in there and they said nothing. Dropped it off at the other shop but not before going for a ride in it with their tech, and explained the issue and that the first shop said it needed a new transmission, he gave me a your kidding right? look. He said no way that is anything other than a throw out bearing, your assumption was right, he said they probably misaligned something or the throw out bearing has a return spring and that they forgot to put back and its in constant contact with the diaphragm causing the noise. It took them only 4 hours to finish, and he told me the clutch was not aligned right and the diaphragm fingers were being pushed in an uneven manner, causing the rough clutch feel and chatter as well as the squealing. Has now been issue and noise free for 8k miles.Do yourself a favor and do not go here, they try and push repairs that are not needed and their work is sub par.
Clean shop knowledgeable staff reasonable pricing backed by probably the best warranty of any repair shop tranny or general will be my go to transmission issues and will give referrals
Very honest people. Very knowledgable. I recommend them with five stars.
Highly Recommend. Long Story short ....
Trash service, trash people, replaced good parts with junkyard ones do not recommend for even your enemies!!!!
My Nissan broke down at Walmart just after i had bought $150 dollars worth of groceries milk, ice cream, all kinds of meat, you get the idea . i called several people but no one would help me, thats when i found Wayne from ceritified transmission he sent billy to pick me up billy took me home helped me unload all my groceries on the second floor . but thats not the best part, i was expecting $4000 dollar repair but they called and said the shifter cable had broke what a relief. paid over the phone picked up the truck and it works better than ever i give these guys 5 stars
Took my car here to realize they didnt do anything to my car, re built the transmission when it was only gear shifter, wasted almost $3,000, after picking up the car it wouldnt go faster than 20 mph, had to tow the car, Unsatisfied with the bussines, I know this review wont reach out to every person, but ill make sure i put word out there.
I choose one star because there was no lower choice. They dont even get a statr on my opinion. The job was never really completed. The car is missing parts, there is missing hardware. There was loose hardware. They do not know anything about bleeding a hydraulic clutch. There are two that really get to me. The technician said that the clutch was going to self bleed. A service manager at the GM dealer said that was the most ignorant coment about mechanics that he ever heard. Last and definitely not least they did not replenished the oil in the transaxle. The car drove for 20 minutes and broke doun. The ouner promised me that he would look into returning the labor cost and i have not heard from him. This is a junk yard friends is not what i would consider a reputable shop. Do not take your car there, they are a joke.
Great service
I brought my Nissan in because it was running badly, and it wasnt shifting. Another shop told me that I needed an expensive transmission overhaul. After checking my car out, Jim told me that I needed to replace some sensors that had gone bad. I was back on the road for less than $200.00.
Charlie and the Certified Transmissions Team are AWESOME!I have a 95 C4 Corvette with a 6-speed manual in it. Lately it has been very hard to shift into gears. Naturally, I knew something was wrong and needed to call someone.STORY TIME:I called AAMCO on Kuykendahl because they were the closest. BAD IDEA. They listened to what I had to say, and then told me they would need to drop the transmission because it was an internal problem. I told them I would think it over (I wanted a second opinion). For my second opinion, I called Charlie at Certified Transmissions and explained the situation, and he told me to come right over. After listening to me, and doing some research online for a few minutes, Charlie had me pop the hood. It turns out my clutch fluid was drained. Charlie added some fluid to the reservoir, and I pumped the clutch a few times. (The reservoir was under the ECM, and I didnt even know it was there). The car drives like a dream now! No more hard shifts! If I ever have another problem with one of my vehicles, I will be taking it back there.Thank you to Charlie for his professionalism and customer care. I only wish there was an option to give them 6 stars instead of 5!Dont waste your time with any other shop -- Go to Certified Transmissions!
1st try rebuild lasted 300 miles, kept truck over a month to fix. 2nd try rebuild lasted 200 miles. Paid someone else to fix it. Builder found all kinds of wrong parts in the transmission, replaced them with the right ones and is still running good with over 2000 miles.
2000 F250 7.3 diesel (140 HP chip) trans rebuild.I looked around for about a month trying to find a good/trustworthy transmission shop to rebuild my tranny. I found prices ranging from $2500-$4000. Most gave the 12mnth 12k mile warranty. I use my truck alot and cant afford to have it break down on me while pulling a trailer out of town even with a warranty so it was a difficult choice to make and i have heard horror stories of other trans shops around town except for this one. I was re-assured after asking my cusin who owns a Construction Co and has used Certified for all of his tranny repairs and has had no issues at all and pulls bull dozers and heavy equipment daily. Great price, Great workmanship, fixed oil leaks while tranny was out AND STUCK TO THE PRICE GIVEN!!!, truck didnt smell like grease when i picked it up, worked with me on late nite drop off of vehicle, showed me all destroyed parts, explained exactly what was done to the tranny and what i did that destroyed it LOL. YOU DONT WANT THE CHEAPEST SHOP AROUND!!!! Ive been down that road and you will regret it, I DO!!.. I have found a great mechanic shop and as long as they are around mine and my familys vehicles will only be fixed here. GREAT JOB YALL!!! VERY HAPPY WITH THE ENTIRE EXSPEREANCE!! My truck is back at your shop now getting more upgrades, thanks.

Beware
Robert worked on my Infinity and told us we needed a specific part for repairs so we purchased one from him with a warranty but we were still having problems even after our vehicle was picked up. He refused to honor the warranty and talked over me. He told me I needed to hush when I asked him if he would honor the warranty. He hung up on me twice. Please be mindful of him since he will be short with you and rude. If you are still having trouble with your car after it has been in his care for repairs, you may or may not be able to return it to him and you will be out of a lot of money behind him.
