Very cool gastro type coffee place! I recommend the blueberry muffin latte and slice of cheesecake. There were lots of flavored lattes and a variety of coffee styles to choose from. They serve warm food as well as pastries. The staff is also friendly and knowledgeable about what they are serving. It is a good environment for a book or laptop or a group of chatty friends.Edit: I’ve been back 2 times since my first review and while there is delicious coffee still, be careful when ordering pastries!!! Seems there is a fruit fly problem. There were flies in the bathroom, flies in the dining area, and flies in the pastry case.
This place was worth the 20 minute drive, and well definitely be back! The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was modern and comfortable, everything is very clean, and the menu selection is awesome. We got an iced blueberry muffin latte and an iced sugar free vanilla latte with oat milk, and both were delicious! A lot of nicer coffee shops like this one make drinks too sweet or too strong/bitter, but these were refreshingly well balanced. Cant wait to come back and try more drinks and food!
All ratings out of 5 stars:* Taste (4.5)* Flavor (4.5)* Atmosphere (5)* Customer Service (4.5)Achievement Rating (5)Overall thoughts: Easily one of my favorite coffee shops, the atmosphere is unique and they stick true to their style. Food is good too so don’t miss out on that!P.S. (Get the Peaches and Cream but substitute the peach flavor with strawberry)Overall: 4.7 👍🏻
My SO and I were looking for a good coffee shop to hang out and have some brew and a bite. I got the nitro cold brew and a barbacoa and egg kolache. Ive never had anything like them, and they were *chefs kiss*. They offered to let us try some of whatever we asked about and offered to replace it if we didnt like it. After my SO asked about Turkish coffee, they brought out some for him to try and a free cookie. Very sweet and great coffee and environment. The outdoor seating is nice, too!
Today was a really tough day for us and we accidentally stopped by this coffee shop. It turned out to be a real diamond among other coffee houses! the coffee is really the best! delicious cheesecake and wonderful modern atmosphere inside! ❤️
They have an impressively large drink menu. Of the drinks Ive tried so far, the chai tea is the best; their smores latte is ok, but its kind of meh compared to the chai tea which is truly great. They have a good selection of munchies too. Their pumpkin cheesecake was so pumpkin-y and softly creamy that I wouldnt have known it was a cheesecake if they hadnt said anything. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Service was friendly and quick, and I didnt have any issue placing or getting my order. Seems like a really nice coffee shop--I would love to come back here again.
Wow!! What amazing place!! Everything was great. Snickerdoodle latte was hands down the best I have had.
This place is amazing and the food is great! Very authentic Turkish coffee with many varieties of coffee beans and flavors! Owner and crew were very welcoming and attentive and the place is beautiful! ( note* my kids took these pictures as I was busy going to town on mine so I apologize in advance for the photography lol.)
Was driving around the area this morning and I found this nice and relaxed coffee place. Great variety to choose from, and great tasting too! Very friendly staff, and did I say anything about the food? It is to live for!!! Thank you to the person who prepared it for me. Level 10! Nothing beats great coffee and great tasting food on a rainy morning.
This neighborhood gem opened up its 2nd location right by me in summer of 2020 & Ive been back at least once a week (as well as visited its 1st location) ever since due to its amazing vibe, eats, drinks, & staff! Everything I write here applies to both locations. This is the independent coffee shop Ive been looking for since my college days - a place where you can chill, hang, work, & study. The shop also collaborates with the community to host events, which many have enjoyed. The staff is warm & gets to know you, especially if youre a regular. All their food & drinks are made & brewed with love, & at the point of writing this Ive officially tried everything on their food menu & am making my way through their drinks.Ive steered people here who are Starbucks addicts & after their first trip, theyre now passing up several Starbucks to drive out of their way to get Barbarossas stuff! See for yourself what quality tastes like! For the most bang for your buck when it comes to the food, I highly recommend the Breakfast Bowl & Croque Madame. Both are filling & nourishing, & my picky eater teen actually enjoyed the simple side salad that came with the latter. For desserts, I recommend whatever is in the tall fridge on the counter (those are made in-house), ESPECIALLY the bread pudding. definitely a life changer to everyone Ive recommended it to. If youre a fan of both cheesecake & flan, definitely try the San Sebastian Cheesecake!I hope that by leaving this review that Barbarossa Coffee & the family that runs it gets the attention it needs to thrive & be here for many years to come!
Good food & drinks, HORRENDOUS customer service. I stood 2nd in line for about 5 minutes, after the cashier asked what I wanted, she immediately turned away and started telling other staff members where to bring drinks. While taking my order I informed her my party would be sitting outside. My friend was 3rd In line and when she went to place her order the cashier asked what she wanted and immediately started answering questions from a couple that had already placed their order before us. While sitting outside they brought our food to us and the same girl who took our order informed us our drinks would be out shortly. While eating & waiting for our drinks we saw 5 cars wait & receive their order out in front of the store. After we finished eating the same team member came out to tell us our drinks had been sitting and waiting on the counter for us.Why would you bring out our food but not our drinks?? Why would you tell us our drinks would be out shorty but not inform us we needed to go back inside for them after our food was brought directly to us??? I would have given 5 stars if I was informed when placing my order or when getting my food that my drinks would not be out to me. This is not my first time here, they have set a precedent that they bring food and drinks to customers sitting outside. It’s basic communication and customer service.
Barbarossa is one of my favorite coffee shops. Super chill vibe and very good coffee. Their Barbacoa tacos are addicting too. They have a wide variety of coffee beans you can buy to take home and make your own coffee with. At this location, Mr. Shay has shown us excellent service.
Honest Opinion this place is awesome. I had the Con Panna drink; the espresso had a very good taste, not too bright, not too bitter. The food is delicious and asthetically pleasing. I would recommend.
The different styles of coffee brewing available make this place seem like a science lab, very interesting and makes you want to try them all. Had a simple nitro cold brew, as suggested by the two lovely baristas, tasted great and it kept me up all night just like they said it would. If I didnt live in Magnolia Id come back much more often. Reasonable prices for such particular drinks, feels like they had to have gone to a school to learn how to make them all.
This is my favorite place for flavored lattes on the planet. I’ve never had a bad drink here. The snickerdoodle and honey and milk with milk ice cubes in it is my favorite. I’m so picky and am loyal to Barbarossa. I am sad about their recent price increase since I go so Often, makes it a bit more unaffordable to pay $6.33 for a large (20 oz).I’ll still be going, just a little less to try and save.
The food is great 🧡 We loved the quality of the seating, serving plates and interior design. This place has excellent natural lighting. We were there on a rainy day, but it was very light and lovely in the Cafe.
Love Barbarossa! We drove out to try the new location which is really nice and spacious. We had a cortado, charcoal latte, breakfast bowl, shredded beef panini, and a blueberry scone. Breakfast bowl had a strong garlic flavor but i liked it. The scone was better than I expected, soft, warm, and crumbly. Come out and try, both locations are awesome 👌
The chocolate milkshake is the best Ive ever had! I live 20 minutes from there but Id come just for that.
Absolutely love this place! Great place to catch up with friends, or be productive all while experiencing great service and even better coffee! 🥰
Amazing coffee, amazing chai tea lattes! This has become our new regular coffee stop
Very clean and friendly environment. staff was kind and the cashier girl (didnt get her name) made recommendations! highly recommend the snickers Latte cold and the barbacoa tacos. sat for about 2 hrs reading my book and drinking my coffee. would go again!
This place has awesome service!!! Love the options for flavors here, better than Starbucks!!! Food looks yummy too. Wish they had some gluten free food options. But coffee was good enough for a second trip even though I live 30 minutes away!!! Will definitely return again.
Absolutely love this place!!! Found it a few months ago and since have gone almost every weekend! The people are super nice and helpful, they know their coffee. Food and Coffee is always great and tasty! Great environment to do homework or meet up with a friend. Highly recommend!!
Like this place a lot, different, chill, great atmosphere. However we only come ever so often cause it takes a while to decide what we want and they don’t have their menu anywhere except at the cashier. They would probably be more efficient if their menu was posted on the wall or if they had laminated copies for you to make your decision in line before arriving at the counter. Today we created a line of 5 people behind us (we are indecisive).... This place is awesome though and a great addition to the area
My husband and I love Barbarossa but if you come in the morning, plan on adding 20mins to your commute.
Absolutely wonderful place to visit, relax, read, get coffee/tea, whatever. Cozy place with a variety of great teas, coffees and brewing methods for however you like yours served. Food menu is unique and delicious. Staff was both friendly and helpful. And with free WiFi and plenty of outlets, I Just found my new office away from the office
I had high hopes for a local coffee shop that might know what theyre doing. While they have a nice array of flavored lattes and food options, Im not too sure they should have a flat white on the menu. I was disappointed to order a flat white and receive a latte with such a thick layer of foam that it was encroaching on being a wet cappuccino. Maybe if I go back Ill try the cortado to see if I can get what Im looking for.
Very cute, small coffee shop. We had the breakfast tacos and waffle which were both quite delicious. The coffee is well brewed and everything has a nice modern take on it. We really enjoyed our outing. Staff was super friendly and helpful as it was our first time.I also loved that they have Turkish coffee and chemex options. Ill be sure to try those on our next visit.
Great coffee, although the indoor coffee cup was much smaller than I expected. If you want a large cup, get it in a to go cup.Lots of great sandwiches n desserts. However, both my flaky cinnamon roll and my mothers sticky bun was hard n stale. They LOOK great, but any of the flaky pastries are probably suspect (stale or crusty). Muffins were really good n moist.
This was a very cute and quaint coffee shop! The coffee flavors are unique and taste great! It was nice to have a quiet spot to chat with a friend. I saw lots of people working as well.
Good coffee, great atmosphere, very friendly and suggestive staff! Will definitely be coming back again 😊
The coffee here is so delicious. I have tried many different items on the menu and they never disappoint. Also, ask about the breakfast tacos! There are so good and filling too!
Barbarossa Coffee is great! They roast their coffee in-house at both locations. I have bought several of their whole bean varieties for home brewing and have enjoyed all of them. I love light roasted and regional coffees so am pleased that they offer several regions with a light roast. As opposed to blended coffee, which can be great as well, drinking coffee from a specific region really allows you to experience the flavors each specific region has. I have had conversations with about three employees and every time they are knowledgeable and really enjoy talking about coffee and helping you choose the right beans. I highly recommend!
Very Expensive. Nice people and good food and drinks. Just too expensive...
Solid cup of coffee and good food. Id stop here before a Starbucks any day.
This coffee here is great and the staff is nice but the wait is always 15+ mins for coffee.
I really want to like Barbarossa coffee, but I find I usually leave disappointed. Atmosphere, food, and service are excellent. The drinks I end up getting turn out bland sometimes. There is a lack of consistently like I get from Starbucks or Denovo. All of this is made worse as Barbarossa is typically more expensive. I will keep trying this place. I really want it to succeed as its a unique local coffee shop.
Coffees, smoothies and food are all delicious, super friendly customer service and a great atmosphere!
Came for a morning coffee and the barista had accidentally double made a different order and was telling the register guy. I said that Id have it just to not waste a coffee. Had every intention to pay for it. They gave it to me free. Turned kut to be a honey lavender latter. Yum! New regular here!
Unfortunately their internet service doesn’t work, I asked if there is something wrong? I believe the mngr said “I will reboot it” (still didn’t work) I think that was a known problem. Anyway not having public internet access in a coffee shop it’s like having a restaurant with no servers.
Love this place!! They always have the coffee out right away and such a friendly environment! My favorite drink is an iced honey milk latte! Every time I’ve gotten it, it’s always been amazing! Definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Great little coffee shop with so many options for coffee and tea! I would love to come work from here w/ my computer. Comfy and classy appearance. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The coffees and teas are all delicious and varied in flavors. The baked goods are also dreamy! I only wish that there was the same menu board inside that there is outside.
Always wanted to try and did not disappoint. The lavender coffee was really good. Price is reasonable for a cup of freshly made coffee. Im glad they exist.
There are many places in Tomball to get coffee day or night. But this coffee shop is quite the experience. Always a hello and a friendly smile. They are outstanding and listening to the customers needs. Your coffee is definitely high quality and well brewed. Just moving into the area my wife and I are excited to know that we have the best coffee shop in the area right down the street. Check this place out for yourself.
I ordered the honey lavender latte and enjoyed a lot. It was delicious for a cold afternoon. Great coffee and customer service
Update - I had to knock off two stars after todays experience. We ordered a Chemex of Papua New Guinea coffee. After 5 minutes the guy came to tell us that none of the Chemex are available... ??? He offered a few other brewing alternatives that were not familiar with but said theyre really all the same, so use this v-60. Okay, sure.10 minutes later he came back with a large cup full of coffee, and two smaller cups. He said all of the v-60s are broken so I used the (forgot name) process instead. Its really the same as the others, theyre all are the same so it doesnt matter.Interesting that a coffee shop that differentiates based on the various brewing alternatives would 1) not have enough brewing equipment to meet the demand and 2) it would have an employee explaining that the brewing processes are the same and that it doesnt matter. But, wait, theres more! See the photographed large cup, filled to the brim with two smaller cups for us to drink from. While the large cup was intended to replace the Chemex brew/pour device, clearly it wasnt designed for pouring the contents into the individual cups without spilling everywhere. We had text books spread out on the table, and didnt want coffee spilled all over them. I pointed out the likely outcome of spills all over the table and asked him if he could get something better to pour with. He seemed to understand and said he would be right back.10 minutes later......he hadnt come back, so we gestured to a very pleasant young woman employee to come over. She immediately saw the problem, grabbed all the cups and went to solve it.She came back and presented two small cups of coffee. She also recognized that we purchased a full Chemex and that these two small cups didnt come close. She said she would redo the order and bring us more coffee in a few minutes. After she left, we sipped from our fresh cups and found that the coffee was now cold... sigh***I decided to tell the story to the cashier. She seemed to understand and offered some free pastries but we had already eaten lox (which was good)! I asked for a freebie to come back, and we settled on a gift card worth a free Chemex, our original order. While discussing this, I saw the new order coming along and was hopeful all would be well...Then we got the redo of our order...Delivered to the table we received two to-go cups of coffee with lids on them. Seemed okay at first. However, my wife lifted the cup to her lips to drink. Coffee poured all over the place from around the lid! It spilled all over a $40 textbook (see photo) and her sweatshirt too (see other photo). We checked the lid and it was in fact secured properly. It just leaked like a sieve around the rim.At that point we were somewhere between laughing and crying, because the experience was so bad it was up to and beyond the point of being comical. Everything that could possibly go wrong did go wrong, except the lox, which was satisfying. We had to go home to change clothes. But on the way out we talked to the cashier that offered the gift card. As she learned about the spilled coffee and ruined textbook and stained clothes, she really didnt have anything to offer us except to say that she hoped our day got better.I posted the update above and got a nice response from the owner within hours. Apparently there was an accident where most of their glassware was smashed. He wants us to come back and Im happy to try again. This experience wasnt at all what weve had in the past, so Im happy the owner is listening.Heres what I said in my earlier review:What I like is the comfortable and chill ambiance, good coffee, great food options and friendly service. The lox is tasty and the blueberry scone wasnt too sweet (thank you)!
Great coffee and food. Friendly service! Im so glad to not have to wait in the Starbucks line on Saturday mornings anymore.
We will probably not be coming back here unfortunately. We were laughed at by the cashier for trying to redeem a punch card for a free drink that we received at the Louetta location after buying a large bag of coffee beans. We’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at Barbarossa buying our beans in bulk, so it was hurtful to be treated that way.
We had brunch here today. The food was great! I had a breakfast panini with avocado and it was delicious. I had the honey milk latte and it was good (it has cinnamon it it as well!). My son had the breakfast panini with chicken, and hubby had the chicken parm panini. My girls shared a waffle and loved it. We ordered pastries, but were too full to even eat them, and we took them home. When we sat down to eat them a little later in the afternoon, my husbands blueberry cheese danish was delicious, and they didn’t skimp on the cheese! It was good. My bear claw not so much. It was dry and hard, stale really. I’m thinking it wasn’t fresh and probably from the day before. If I would have eaten it on site I would have taken it back for sure. We would definitely go again despite.
Make sure you have no plans if you stop here because for coffee and a breakfast sandwich it was 28 minutes. There was nobody there either. Not what I was expecting and really started the day off wrong. The price was similar to Starbucks. The coffee was ok and the sandwich was tasty but I wont be back unless Im planning to sit and stay.
To start off, the atmosphere and coffee is really nice and the blonde barista working today was consistently very kind. I ordered the caprese bruschetta and my boyfriend ordered the parmesan chicken panini. It took 20 minutes for the food to be ready which wouldn’t be a big deal but my boyfriend was in a bit of a hurry and it didn’t help that the employees were huddled in a circle just talking and laughing. At the 20 minute mark i went up to the counter to see how much longer we had to wait but the plates were coincidentally brought out as i was waiting at the counter. My bruschetta was okay, it’s probably just my personal preference but i feel like the toast was drenched in the balsamic glaze which made it kinda soggy 🤢i didn’t finish it unfortunately. My boyfriends panini looked sad, it was missing all of its toppings and with each bite he took he was spitting out cartilage 🤢🤢i brought it up to the counter and the blonde barista (who took our order before) was VERY sweet about it and offered to make a new one or refund but i opted to get the kolaches to replace instead. One was a chorizo and one was a potato, and honestly they were both really gross. I don’t blame the service at all and i appreciate the way she handled our first orders but i just don’t think the food is good here, at least from what i’ve tried. i’d come back though for only the coffee, some of the baristas were a lot nicer than others.
Love this place! Tried it for the first time a month ago and have been back every Saturday morning. Used to go to starbuck often....not anymore! Awesome to have a local spot that has good people and damn good coffee that isnt overly done. This place has put the love back in coffee!
Super cute coffee shop! Probably the best coffee I’ve ever had! If you want fantastic customer service and delicious, fresh coffee and bakery, check this place out! It’s truly a charming spot! They have a good variety coffee drinks, mocha, hot chocolate..Ask about their alternative coffee brands! I will definitely be back in the near future.
The best coffee ever!!! I’ve been to many places across Houston, and this is by far the best!
I was very excited to try this spot in Tomball. Upon arriving, we stood at the counter for several minutes before any of the young ladies acknowledged that we were there. I was very confused by the menu, and many of the flavors were not listed on the flavor menu. After we sat down to wait for the drinks, all of the baristas joined together in a huddle to talk about the latest gossip. One even took her mask off so that she could tell the story more easily. They complained about how busy they were. (It’s a Saturday at a coffee shop, of course you are busy). Overall, it was just not a pleasant experience. Once I finally got my drinks, one was the wrong size and one was iced instead of hot. We got to start the process all over again....Great place for someone who likes to be ignored and wait 25 minutes for their order to be made incorrectly.
First time customer experience: my cousin is in town for work, so I googled coffee places near his hotel and this gem popped up. Walked in and instantly was glad that Google suggested this place. The decor was modern yet inviting, the food menu was simple with a great assortment, and the selection of coffee and brewing methods was all encompassing. Everyone that helped us were very friendly and we will definitely be back. PLUS this was the first time that Ive found quality Turkish brewed coffee since I moved from San Antonio. Awesome place, awesome concept, friendly staff.
Coffe is strong and pastries are fresh.
They were really great. When they were running out of one thing helped me by substituting another. Very friendly. Glad to visit there every day on my vacation
Love this local coffee shop. Always delicious espresso drinks, as well as pastries. The cream cheese, blueberry danish is my favorite.
Sunday, Jan, 31st 20218:30 amSat in line for over 15 minutes only to be told that theyre doing a select menu and they werent making any breakfast sandwiches or bagels. Maybe you should put up a sign stating that BEFFORE the entrance to your drive through, so you dont waste your customers time. Left empty handed. First time customer, wont be coming back.
My wife and I stopped by this afternoon and had an amazing experience. The coffee was outstanding and the customer service was spot on. The owner and I had a great (quick) conversation, (drive thru customer). We will be going back!! Pulled up their website and was even more impressed at what I saw. Pull it up for yourself and youll see what I mean. Looking forward to trying more coffee and food in the very near future. Thanks again for the great experience today! They are few and far between these days.
Always get great tasting coffee. It is way better coffee than the typical chain coffee. Also, the food and service is awesome.
They lost a star for non enforcement of their and Texass mask requirements of their customers and staff. Staff wasnt wearing masks correctly and they didnt require customers to wear masks at all.Drinks were tasty as expected.
Had the breakfast toco this am at the 2920 store. Of course a large latte washed down the 2 tacos. The presentation was clean and simple. The food fresh and tasty. Store was busy but productive. Stay awhile and enjoy is my advice. The coffee has that... um yes!!!!Thanks to all the employees who make great dining possible here at Barbarossa.Will.
Hands down, best Americano in town! Tried their breakfast tacos and cheesecake, both were yummy. All staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back to try other menu items 😊
Love their lattes......the breakfast are really good, but i think they can add more items on the breakfast menu, they only have 2 or 3. I stop here before going to work. pretty good!
Ever since I learned that lavender lattes were a thing I have been on the hunt for a place that served them. Just imagine a caffeine boost but without any of the extra jittery feeling (in fact its the perfect yin and yang calming and energizing drink). Well I found my latte at this spot! The staff were super friendly and knew there stuff when it came to coffee. The atmosphere and decor were great and there is usually a creative new drink/flavor combo to try.
