We needed to source materials to complete a job that was abandoned by a family friend. Jim offered poss solutions in both material and design. He was responsive to our calls and communicated any change in availability of materials and delivery timeframes. He also referred us to Nick Danna at Empire Construction and Landscaping after our person had left us high and dry.Nick completed the job, beautifully and within the anticipated timeframe.Jim, thanks so much for your help!!!!The SmithsRavena
Great place to go to get building and materials you need to fix or build things around the house. Prices are reasonable and the associates are very helpful.
Very nice helpful staff.
Good materials and quick service. Since of the guys working here are quite friendly, others are just here to work.
Friendly. Good pricing. Items in stock. A+
These guys have an amazing inventory of building supplies and even tools.knowledgeable staff. If you want high quality materials, at a good price go here.
They always have what you are looking for, but it is on the pricier side.
They have a great selection of pavers. They were very helpful in planning my patio. The people were very friendly and they have a large showroom so that you can see their products.
Friendly staff, very helpful and knowledge worthy
One guy driving a forklift and the bucket loader everybody in the entire East Coast sitting there waiting to get line loaded up literally 25-minute wait great office people great products need to get another driver operator
Great products for most all site work.. patios, blocks, and all building products that will look great.. People are friendly and helpful to the street people
As a DIYer, I go here for expert advice and guidance. The big box stores cant compete with the knowledgeable staff at Grimms. The no wait and quick service will have you in and out and beginning your project in no time.
Very honest people. I would of gave them 5 stars but they didnt carry the product that I needed.
Dont need to wear mask
For the last decade Ive been shopping here. The guy I learned masonry from refused to shop there when I was young. Now I know why. Well realistically, I knew why way before, but I tolerated the drama.Ill start with the forklift situation. More than twice my truck/trailer has been overloaded with materials making my truck out of compliance with DOT. The loader dumped extra materials to be nice, but Im more concerned with the safety our vehicles than saving a few bucks on stone. Then their forklift is down all the time. When its cold out, you cant get bulk materials because all their piles are frozen and they dont own equipment that can pick it up/dump it. You can go a half mile away and get it from Gallivans on crabapple in watervliet. They have loaders that work all the time.Well, move on to the office staff. The paver industry calls their geotextile fabric Geofabric. they call their Geogrid, Geogrid. Their office staff does can never seem to get the difference, or that there is a difference, and will constantly ring you out and give you the wrong material. How about 2 years ago they tried to sell 20 pallets of retaining wall block when I sent my guy to get 20 blocks. They best thing is 20 pallets weighs 60,000 lbs. Trust me, I didnt send a semi-truck and if I was buying that much material I would probably just get it from a manufacturer like Dagostino in Schenectady (by the way, I can text my orders to the sales people at Dagostino and they just put it all together and clarify everything. Great sales people there).I guess finally, the last thing is that they are strict in their return policy. My crews sent 3 trucks to get 3 pallets of materials. 2 pallets of block and one pallet of caps. Well the crews miscommunicated with each other and all 3 trucks got block pallets. The next day we sent one pallet of shrink wrapped block back to their office and explained the mistake. They said absolutely no returns. Meanwhile, we are in there practically daily. I can buy most items like concrete and mortar cheaper at home depot. I can return anything I want at Dagostinos or Siteone. Siteone actually picked up a pallet of over purchased material for us a couple months ago without a complaint. I mean, its a relationship. I think Grimms could do better training staff better, investing in equipment and concerning themselves with their customer service just a tad more. I waited a month to write this review. That being said, they do have most masonry materials in stock if you need them.
Prices are the best around, I have compared. Inside staff is always helpful and yard support is usually good.
Certain people here are nice, others are not.. you know who you are!
Always have what we need!
Good staff and good service
Very nice selection and helpful staff
Been delivering pavers at grim for years great business many contractors go there for supplies good people great buisness.
Quick, friendly service. Stopped in yesterday for an odd item. They had it and I ws on my way.
Always a great visit great people
Im a custom concrete counter top fabricator. I went to Grimm for the first time the other day. To say the least, the salesperson Shane was absolutely unhelpful in questions I had concerning where to go, to my interest in their other product such as butterfield colors. Afterwards, I found myself picking my product myself from door 4, and then needed to find a yard worker to sign my receipt (I thought you employed people in your yard for that purpose; not for me to have to do it myself). It appeared to me they only wanted to deal with someone who (1) knew them personally (as opposed to building new business relationships), and (2) knew what they wanted and had a get and go approach. I will NEVER buy another thing from Grimm unless Im forced into a predicament where I HAVE TO. Meaning NO other supplier within a 50 mile radius has the product I need, and I need it NOW... Grimm, your customer service and approach to building new relationships with new small business is TERRIBLE! Ill gladly drive out of my way to go to Grandview in Schenectady than deal with you EVER AGAIN!
Really nice people
Great stone veneer options
The customer service here sucks!
Would never deal with them again
Nothing priced. As a longtime retail manager one of my pet peeves is not having prices of products readily available. You shouldnt have to keep asking for prices.
Dave is the man!
