I found one of those too good to be true deals on eBay for a classic Phase Linear amp and preamp. The seller assured me they were working perfectly, so I made the purchase. I then found out the seller was in Croatia! After several weeks they finally arrived. Pro tip: Croatian appliances need 220 volts. Picked up a 110 to 220 converter from Amazon and set up my new system, and the right channel was full of distortion. This is where the awesome staff at Hi-Fi Workshop come in. They took care of my noisy preamp, replaced some iffy RCA jacks, and offered to change the voltage to an American friendly 110 volts. They did all this for what I was expecting to pay for just the preamp fix. If youre an audiophile I wouldnt recommend going anywhere else! Thanks guys.

Very communicative while asking questions through e-mail, got my equipment in quickly and did the repairs in a timely manner. Cost was inline with my estimation. My dads old Pioneer receiver sounds fantastic now. I wouldnt hesitate to bring more equipment to them, or recommend them for anybody who needs audio equipment repair.

John, fixed my 1978 Marantz 1152DC amplifier that was in really bad shape, and made it like new! His attention to detail and superior knowledge about HiFi equipment is amazing. He was fair, honest, kind, and answered all my silly questions with a smile. HiFi Workshop is the place to go for all your HiFi needs.

I wish I had posted this review a couple of weeks ago. He was able to fix the stereo unit that was broken beyond repair. My husband bought the component knowing it was broken because he thought he could fix it even though the previous owner tried. My husband put a tremendous effort into fixing it before sending it to a stereo repair shop two separate times for quite a bit of money. When he found the hi-fi workshop, I was irritated that he was going to spend even more money on something that couldn’t be fixed. Wow, was I wrong. The stereo component was fixed perfectly for a good price. The sound of the music has improved so much. I will be forever grateful for the sheer happiness I saw on my husband’s face. The incredible sound from this component could blow you away. Nobody could fix this before. Not a single person before could even come close. If you need something fixed, save yourself the heartache and frustration, not to mention money, and get your device fixed here. You cannot beat the hifi workshop. I can not tell you the specifics of the component because I could listen to music on anything before. Not anymore though. His amazing wizardry fixing this could not be matched anywhere else. I now understand why people pay thousands of dollars for components like these. And my husband is happier than I have ever seen him. And I can shut my mouth about “wasting money on a broken one and all the attempt to fix it.” Superior job.

I have an Infinity DSP Switching Amplifier, this was the first Hi-Fi digital amp, they were high end and few were built in the late 70s iirc less than 200. Schematics were never public, neither any service manual. It was working OK until few weeks ago, well almost perfect, it produced a low humming sound when no input was fed but it was hard to hear, but one day I could not get any more power. Knowing the age, design and no schematics I was very skeptical that I could ever have it running again. I live not too far from Tucson so I searched for places that repair High End Audio and after visiting few places one of them told me to go to the Hi-Fi store.John (owner), took his time and find out the initial problem (no power) and also told me that he found another area that he could repair to get the amp back to normal.Today I took the amplifier home, price was more than reasonable, I just hooked it into the system and not only works but also the humming that I noticed before the no-power event (btw I never told John about it, he found it) is gone. You can not believe how happy I am, not only this great and unique amp is working again (kind of a collectors piece) but the cost was so minimal.John works in any piece of Hi-Fi.If you ever read this comment John, honestly THANK YOU.

So happy to hear John opened a shop in Tucson. Hes repaired 6 things for me in the past and restored my classic equipment to glory. My system is amazing and includes a custom-built switcher (he made it) so I can control the use of all my speakers.I dont mind to spend the money for double boxing and shipping because there is no one better for audio repair. Thank you as always, John! Rock on!

The owner John is very knowledgeable. But the best part, he is honest. Would I recommend HiFi Workshop, yes highly. He could have charged me for work that he didnt do and say he did, but thats not his way of working.

Ask him about building tube amps as well! He’s a man of many talents. If you want someone who will actually provide in depth and quality work, someone who has been doing this work for decades (talk to him about it sometime), John is your guy. He won’t half fix or bandaid anything. Take it to him and be sure it will be fixed the right way.
