Dropped tire off at 9:30 am on a Saturday that just needed new valve stem ... attendant said have it done 2 hours if can leave it.I called over 4 hours later and they had not done anything ... So I picked it up went to a walk-in tire shop mid afternoon on that same Saturday and was done within half hour. So disappointing to be ignored at Firestone. Nice facility, polite employee, just not reliable service. Firestone should have be honest and said too busy to get to it up front.

I took my car in this AM (8:00am) due to Break issues. I’ve had great luck with Firestone in Portland Oregon so I took my car here; I really should not have. They found that the drivers side break caliper had seized which damaged the rotor as well. Zach, the store manager checked for the parts needed and said that I was in luck because they were “on the self”!I had to wait an hour for a ride to work, during which Zach told me that the part was not in Ankeny as they had thought but the parts person knew one was in another town and was extremely confident that they could get it in by noon. I told them that would work and he worked up a quote of about $598.While I was waiting for my ride, Zach then told me that the part would not be in until 2:30. I told him that I would be at work and that this would not be an issue. I was just glad it was getting fixed that day and Zach said he was happy to help.Things changed with a 1:30 phone call from Zach. He told me that they had missed a shipping cut off and that the part would not be in until the next day... I could not understand how you miss a shipping deadline when you know you needed the part before 9:00am..He then grew angry and said that he could not control when Auto Zone shipped parts... this isn’t “on the shelf” or even “in another town” this is having to order a part! If they didn’t have the one part, why lie about it? I’d not have let them work on my car if I knew this, I’d have just taken it down the street to someone who had the part!I then pointed out that I live an hour away and there’s no bus service... I asked if they could help with a rental; which made him even more angry and didn’t help my mood either, especially since all I had done wrong was to put my trust in Firestone! He said he’d just put the bad parts back on the car. Since he had earlier pointed out (using a visual aid) the damage and that it was unsafe... I told him that I didn’t want the bad parts and that if I had to drive with them, I would hold Firestone accountable for any damage to me and my car!I then called Firestone customer service and was told that the area manager Andy Smith would give me a call. It’s now 5pm, 3.5 hours later and still no call and as I am a disabled veteran, I am unable to walk the mile to get my car. I am stranded an hour from home and will be forced to walk in the snow to get my car putting my health and safety on the line.Thank you Firestone, Zach the manager, and Andy Smith.See reviews from Andy Smith below to see his efforts to up their google review rating!

I’ve gone to Firestone for years and always have appreciated the helpful and knowledgeable staff, although they always seemed to recommend something new each time I visited, but I recognized they made money off of sales and appreciated their recommendations, so I took that in stride.I never felt the need to add a review but my last two experiences here were so terrible, I don’t think I’ll ever be going back. After a routine oil change, I immediately noticed my car sounded and rode differently, especially when accelerating. I called back a few days later, letting them know what’s been going on.I ended up taking time off of work to have my car looked at, and I met with the mechanic, even driving with her in the car and pointing out the noises and how rough my car was driving. My car was there for over 3 hours and in the end she insisted that it was normal and everything was fine.A few days later my car died on the interstate and I ended up taking it to another shop. They opened up my hood and immediately noticed that my air box was not latched shut and a filter was missing, which led to the issues I was experiencing. It took them literally less than 5 minutes to notice and fix the issue and they indicated that the mechanics at Firestone didnt even open my hood, because they’d have seen it right away.I admittedly don’t know much about cars or repairs, but I had trusted Firestone to tell me what I needed to know. They were in a hurry to rush me out of there, and didn’t even take the time to open the hood of my car, when it ended up being such a simple fix. Their carelessness caused me hours of wasted time, PTO, and my car breaking down on the interstate - which led to a whole bunch of other fun issues. Totally avoidable, and totally ridiculous.Best of all, when I called them to let them know about this, the line went dead immediately after I explained why I was calling 😂 so if you don’t know much about cars and are looking for someone to trust with yours, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Mistakes happen and can’t always be avoided, but carelessness definitely can be.

By far the worst place to take any of your vehicles! Ive been going to Firestone for the last couple of years and all they do is break parts on your cars and harass you to get additional services you dont need. The last straw was when they did a transmission flush just last month (December 2017) and my car died every day after they touched it. I took my car back to the incompetent people at Firestone and they couldnt figure it out why it was dying. They told me everything was fine, and had I took their word I would have ruined my whole transmission. I took my car to the dealer where they found I was short over 2 Quarts of transmission fluid!!! Hence the reason my car was dying. Now Im out hundreds because of the incompetent people at this place. All they offered was to pay me back for the dealer to fix it. How about the money Im out for renting a car because you guys couldnt figure anything out!?! Mine and my kids safety were at jeopardy because of this place!!! Stay far away from this place or be prepared to pay extra on stuff you dont need.

I took a tire in for a repair. I dropped it off and before I was home I was called about the condition of my tire. It had a slice so they were unable to repair it. I told them that was fine and I would bring in another tire for them to mount. They said it was against DOT regulations to mount a used tire. So I said I would be in to pick up my tire since it was outrageous that they would not mount a used tire. With it being Saturday afternoon and nobody else was open so unfortunately I purchased a new tire. Upon checkout I confirmed that they could not mount a used tire per DOT regulations, it came to light that this was THEIR policy. I will never give a dime to Firestone again and will actively steer consumers away. This is purely a ploy to make more on new tire sales.

I would like to share my experience with the Urbandale Firestone Store. Clearly, they are busy and doing lots of things right. They have lots of business and Im sure my experience is because of just that. I dropped off a flat tire with this store on Sunday. My husband had put on my spare tire. I had an appointment at 10:30 am Monday morning to just replace the spare with the fixed flat. After waiting with my 3yr old and infant for 45 minutes, I asked if it would be much longer. The store clerk was very friendly. Actually, he handled it the best he could. They were not going to get to my tire anytime soon. I asked if it could be completed in the next 20min. They were not able to do that. So, here I am, 50 min into my appointment and they were unable to get my tire switched out. Honestly, all Firestone needed to say was that they were too busy to change it out or not schedule me to come in! It was a huge waste of time. I left with a fixed tire and my spare still on my van. Please be honest with your customers. They will appreciate that much more than anything else. You are busy and thats fantastic. Just dont over book so much that you cant take care of what you have.

After she called me and told me they wanted $650 to do it, I talked to the guy myself. Tried pushing a water pump and complete coolant flush on me. For a 23 year old car with 190K miles on it. Something didnt seem right as I just replaced the calipers not that long ago. I took my car back home and had someone else look at it. The only thing they could find wrong was that the connector on the front left wheel hub was semi loose. He put some gel in the connector to help the connection and plugged it in. Everything is great now. There was absolutely no drag on the back right caliper and rotor either. The.pads were at 5mm and the rotor was smooth as butter. After the fact I went a did the repairs they wanted to do for over $600.00 just in case. 4 spark plug and 4 bolts all easily accessible, less than $300.00 parts, 1/2 hour of my time done. I havent had any automotive courses since 1985. I understand labor cost, but over $300.00 for a half hour of work, that is shameful.
