My wife and I stopped into this place for breakfast and it was amazing. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and items. I got a bloody Mary flight and my wife got a mimosa flight and what a deal, they were only $14 for a flight of four 8oz drinks. Very good deal and delicious too. Also I love the paintings and decorative stuff on the wheels, really gives it a down home feel that I enjoy. The food was amazing too, I got a stack of strawberry pancakes and they have that great home cooked taste.
I like this place.Simple Eats is exactly as the name on the front reads but I think it should read, Simple Good Eats. The food here is good, its fresh, the service is fantastic, and visually, this joint is just a happy place.You get two choices of seating here....outside or in. Due to Covid, we chose outside. Be mindful, its nothing to do with the restaurant but with the outside, you get the flies, and this time there was a lot of them. Our server was awesome. Super polite, and very attentive.We ordered the cheese board, and for the price, we got more cheese then I could even handle. I would order that board again when I take friends/family there. Its a good amount to munch on. I also ordered the Crab Benedict, or what they call, the Crab Benny. I thought it was good. A sizeable portion at a great price.Overall, I would eat here again. Its a colorful, just happy place. Well done.

The wife eats here fairly often but today was my first experience. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the seating, the art on the walls, the staff, and the food. Honestly the coffee some was worth going, and that wasnt even my favorite part of the meal. I had the shipwreck, which was absolutely great. I personally dont care for sausage, but theirs was good. Their prices really arent bad at all. I didnt get any of the speciality drinks, but my wifes margarita looked really great! If we lived closer wed probably eat there at least once a week!
We adore Simple Eats. Charming atmosphere, genuinely friendly staff, the best chefs in town. Weve tried the pancakes, biscuit and gravy, beet and apple salad, Eastern Shore salad (sweet potato, roasted butternut squash), Reuben, roasted Brussels sprouts, and some kind of club sandwich. (They are open to substitutions.) Food is very fresh and delicious. I dont think you would be disappointed, if you gave it a try! They also sell local artwork, T-shirts, and baseball caps.
Good food, but do not hold any special occasion gathering there with more than 10 people. Made reservations for a bridal shower for 15 and constantly had a revolving table of 4 next to us. Werent aware we would have to share the space. Not only did it make us uncomfortable you could tell it made them uncomfortable too. They could have easily moved the tables to accommodate us appropriately.
For a 14 dollar salad I expected to see a lot of the delicious toppings that were advertised but it was all lettuce. Won’t be spending my money here again.
Dont let the simple exterior full you. My wife and I decided to try this place for lunch and we were not disappointed. This place is very quaint. The staff is very friendly. The food is very delicious. I had the Shipwreck and enjoyed every bite of it. If you are looking for a simple meal, this place is the place. They take the simple things and make them very inviting and a very comfortable place to enjoy a meal.
The cutest place with fantastic food. I believe we ate four of our seven brunches here, including our last meal before we left.My girlfriend and I went to Virginia Beach for a family vacation that happened to fall on her birthday. With the help of our server (Kayla, I believe? I could be wrong 😑), I was able to discreetly purchase 2 slices of carrot cake to go and she put a candle in one! That’s above and beyond. Seriously super kind. I’m a firm believer that you’ll forget good food, but you’ll always remember great staff and that’s what will keep you going back.Also, the art they have on the wall? All done by local artists and available for sale. Who needs a boardwalk when you can get local art as gifts and souvenirs?! I purchased two really nice pieces for my mom and she loves them. Honestly, I wish I had kept them for myself 😂Yummy food, cool art for sale, and super sweet staff? Yes, please!
I highly recommend this restaurant. I love that everything about it promotes local. Fresh delicious food, local artists, VA wine and beer... And it is all absolutely fantastic and so fresh. If you are looking for a wonderful farm to table experience, this is your place!
I really was disappointed last night. I stopped by Simple Eats to order takeout. The server was great and very quick service. I am sad to say the food was horrible. I ordered two meals for my son his favorites meatloaf and lump crab meat pasta. The meatloaf was crusted almost burned on the outside and very little taste in the middle. The potatoes were almost raw. He could not eat any of it. The lump crab meat pasta was also another failure. No taste and the crab meat was watery and nasty. We could not eat it either. These two meals were a waste and went in the trash. We have eaten here a few times before and everything was wonderful. Maybe this was an off night but I would not recommend either meal to anyone. Not sure we will go back. Sorry for this review but if you don’t know something is wrong you can’t fix it.

Found this place by chance our first morning in VA. Absolutely a gem and one of the best parts of our trip!! Great food, coffee, staff and atmosphere!!! A must if you’re visiting VB. !!!!!
The decor and atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service, was hospitable, but it seemed we still had to flag people down for assistance and when I did ask for something I felt like I was bothering them or being “extra”. I’ve work for many years in customer service, I understand having an off day. But when you see so many workers swarming around and no one attending to guests, it makes me wonder. My wife ordered a tea & breakfast bowl and I had a coffee and the Shipwreck. When the food came, it smelled good, looked good, and was a sizable portion. However, when I ate it, mine was over cooked and my wife’s was undercooked and mushy. To give her something better to eat, she order two poached eggs and a biscuit. I asked for a last cup of coffee before we left. Somehow that got lost and came way later. Also, our server never refilled our water glasses or asked my wife if she wanted more tea. Now that I think of it, the server didn’t address my wife much, just me. Our bill came, not bad ($33). However, we again waited for someone to run our card. I really wanted to like this place, since it came highly recommended and when you walked in it was inviting and looked like a place where you could get a good brunch. Hopefully your experience will be better then ours.

My family goes to this place at least once a month ever since they have been open and we love it. We have never had a bad experience here, ever! They staff is always so nice and accommodating. They have a diverse farm to table menu at a great price. It has a homey atmosphere with a cottage type interior. They always have fresh fish (usually at least 2 fresh fish on the menu). The service is always great.

This will be my go to place from now on when Im in the Virginia Beach area. Their menu is simple and fresh, plus we dined outdoors on picnic tables with live music that made dinner really special. They also have a long list of draught beers - most of which I never heard of which I appreciate since I like trying new things. Aside from the band being a bit loud (no, Im not too old), everyone really enjoyed their dishes. Service was very good as well although the cost is a little on the higher end for me. If you like farm to table fresh and tasty meals then this is the place to try (for comparison, my group also likes Taste and Panera, but this is better than those). Very good and well be back for some more brews, music and delicious outdoor dining.
I’ve ordered from here twice, and have been SO impressed!! Holy cow!! The Schmidty and Reuben are AMAZING. Seasoned SO well — just OMG. The flavor is immaculate. 10/10 would recommend & will come back as often as I am in the area.
Food was prepared on time and with my special instructions followed. The food was very fresh tasting and delicious. We will make a point to visit again when we are in town! We had the grown up grilled cheese with home fries and a salad.
So cute and quaint. I loved the atmosphere as soon as I walked in. Ive never been so I was excited to see what was on the menu. Not a huge menu but they have plenty of options. The pancakes are HUGE and they are soooo delicious; 10/10 recommend for a first timer. The service was very quick and they played good music. An awesome place to go for food and drinks. Would definitely go back to try something else!
Okay food. Quirky ambiance but still okay. No AC so in the summer, expect to be eating in an 85* room. Service is reliably slow and inattentive so don’t go in expecting anything special.
I should start this review by saying that there were probably 6 tables sat, two waitresses and two hostesses in the restaurant the day I went.They are taking farm to table way too seriously here... I think that they legitimately had to go to a farm to get us our food, it took THAT long.I brought my sister who was visiting here for lunch with my 18 month old son. I asked for a side of potatoes and fruit for my son the second we sat down, putting emphasis on whatever comes out first we will take because he was hungry. After 20 minutes I thought it was pretty strange that we hadnt gotten either things, nor had our waitress come back to take our order. Within these 20 minutes one of the hostesses brought me a used glass of water (???) and when I told her she had the wrong table to she no this is yours! I refilled it for you... nice intentions but definitely had the wrong table. Needless to say I didnt drink this. I had spoken to the waitress about how I was unhappy about the wait time for a side of fruit, and it quickly came out after that. However the side of fresh fruit was the opposite of fresh, see attached pictures. and the potatoes were cold when they came out, which was fine because they were cool enough to give to my son right away but that tells me they had been sitting there for a while.About 45 minutes after ordering our food (we both got breakfast burritos) our food finally came out... at this point we have been at the restaurant for over an hour. The food looked delicious but the insides were completely charred, the bacon was black and the eggs were brown. Also the side of salsa was extremely questionable. The person cooking/prepping the food needs to be evaluated. After receiving this inedible food I requested to speak to a manager, at which time the waitress told me that there was no manager in... I truly felt bad for this waitress, the kitchen is clearly struggling and this is an issue for the manager, NOT HER. I kindly told her what the issue was and told her I would not be eating this therefore would not be paying for it. She had to go to the back to call the manager to get approval for this, and they only approved of me getting 50% off of my burrito. I flat out told her that I was paying $0 for the very few bites of my food I was able to eat.Truly disappointed by this place. It has such potential but falls flat on service & quality of food. Take your business to the leaping lizard if youre wanting farm to table off of shore drive.
Waited for 45 minutes for a sandwich and a burger.Just eating my burned bacon and overcooked burger(Asked for medium rare got well done) right now.Reason for delay? Short kitchen staff on Friday night.I wish they told me that before I set down.Never will come back to this place again.

The indoor and outdoor seating is nice. Fun decorations throughout. Very little curve appeal to this restaurant. our friend speaks highly of this place however my personal experience was that the food was bland and mediocre. I would try it again because the service was good and the environment was good maybe the food was just off that day.

KISS stands for Keeping It Simply Satisfying. From the outside this place does not look like much, but don’t let that fool you. Inside it is warm, vibrant, and welcoming. Simple eats has a large menu (even had Korean inspired dishes). The staff was very helpful when it came to answering questions from members of our group that had restricted (gluten-free) diets, as well as efficient. The food is as close to home- cooked as you can get and the ingredients are bright and fresh at this farm to table establishment. The preparation was good, the tastes better, the experience was great as we sipped away our breakfast listening to a bluesy-Jazz mix that made this place feel like beach house. Stop by, eat up and enjoy!
The food is very good for the price you pay. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was flavorful and filling. My biggest concern is the service was a little slow. If you only get an 8 oz mason jar for a drink, maybe ask if I need a refill before Im done with my meal. Other than that minor faux pas, it is worth the visit of your in Chics Beach.

Place deserves every ⭐+. Farm to table is their claim to fame and they absolutely crush it. Wait staff is on point. The food is perfect. Something for everyone. They lean a bit more towards the seafood side but barely. Catch of the day, crab cakes that sort of thing. Everything is locally sourced right down to the berries in their mixed berry pie.I had the Crabcake Bennedict (Benny). Eggs were perfect, Hollandaise was just right and I subbed the hash browns for garlic green beans which were buttery and al dente just how I like em. Wife had the shrimp and grits and it was just the right amount of shrimp, sausage and spice.Our party got the Bloody Mary Sampler and were coming back for the Mimosa Sampler.
We waited for the place to open and were so glad we did. There were two of us spending some time to catch up. The food was really good. Soup and grilled cheese for the mom to be and an eggs Benedict version for me. They let me substitute the English muffin for tomato slices. That was great and really appreciated the ability to make changes to decrease the amount of carbs in an item. The interior was great for the area and the paintings for sale a plus. When we come back this way, this will be on our list.

It is rather disheartening that I am writing this. But here is an experience that should never have occurred. Today a few of us decided to get lunch for mothers day at Simple Eats. The seating was quick about a 10 min wait for outside. After being seated and waiting for our server she arrived and started to take our order. She got to our drinks then said ok and left as we started to order our food. After around 20 min of waiting for her to return with our drinks she finally returned empty handed and asked if we needed something. We told her we would like to order food. After we placed our order for food our drinks finally arrived. At the same time we noticed a new group of people being sat next to us.After about 40-45 min of waiting we asked the front station when will our order will be out. We did this because our server didnt stop at our table once. She stated it should only be a few due to one or two tickets ahead of us. Upon returning to our table we noticed the new group of people who sat next to us when we placed our food order was finishing up with their meal. We still havent evem received ours yet. Our food order wasnt anything difficult either it was rather simple a few sandwiches and soup.After about 20 min of waiting and still nothing we finally flagged our server down and asked her for the check. We told her to just cancel the order due how long the wait had been and nothing the table who sat and order after us received their food well before us and stating they basically had the same thing we ordered. When she returned with our bill I extended my arm out to receive it from her instead she ignored my hand and put it on the table. We paid and left.Bearing in mind during this whole situation we did not act rude or disruptive towards anyone we didnt even complain beyond canceling our order. After leaving I told my significant other what happened and he asked if I said anything thing to the server or the manager and I said no he decided to call and atleast let them know what occurred before he could tell them exactly what occurred or who or where we sat the manager stated she knew who we are. He thought that was odd seeing he didnt discribe us or the situation entirely. The manager did offer her apologies which he stated seemed a bit dismissive vs an actual apology.The total time for the covo was less then a min. I keep thinking about it trying to figure out what we did wrong or what caused it. And the only think I can think of is that out of everyone eating there we were the only Asains.

I LOVE THIS SPOT! The food is amazing. Fresh farm to table, with locally sourced ingredients that make the meals seem so crisp. Kayla, the server, is awesome! Love her! She’s fantastic, make sure to ask for Kayla when you go. Their eggs Bennie alone is worth the trip.

I actually found this place on Google Maps and read the reviews. Most were very complementary so I decided to try it out. I have to say I was very impressed with dinner at Simple Eats. I had the meatloaf, which was a good sized portion. The mixed vegetables and potatoes had a very good flavor as well. Everyone enjoyed their food. No complaints.Id go back in a heartbeat.

Brunch... so delicious. Nothing to complain about. Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. They have so many great reviews for a reason.
Got the crabcake Benedict everything on it was good homemade hollandaise sauce just wished I would have asked if it was lump crabmeat no white in the crabmeat at all. Just the taste to me was different than what I am use to. Other guest enjoyed their meal however.

This was my first time enjoying their menu and under our current CV19 pandemic. The guy out front was personable and made some perfectly yummy recommendations...pulled pork & avocado flatbread and the smoked chicken salad sandwiches were spot on. Their tomato bisque speaks for itself and the strawberry shortcake ❤❤❤❤ Even the mimosas were dome if the best Ive had in a long time. The weather was perfect for enjoying their outdoor patio seating and we were the only ones there. I highly recommend and will be back.
I went there in hopes that myself, my spouse and our children would have a nice lunch in celebration of my wifes birthday. When we first arrived the hostess told us it was a 20 min wait to be seated. We all looked at each other and agreed this was doable. Well, 20 minutes became 40 min with no explanation. When we were finally seated and our orders were taken it might have been at least another 30 to 40 min for our food to show and when it finally did the birthday girls order was wrong. By then we were livid, asked for the manager but that took at least another 10 to 20 min for the manager to finally show. What I couldnt understand is why they didnt just tell us how long the wait was for everything and given us a choice to leave. But since we were so hungry and we had committed ourselves to stay, we kept hoping that it would all work out but it never did. Although Sandy the manager was apologetic and paid for our order, her dismissive attitude and how she quickly explained how her cook was tired was baffling and questionable at best. Also we couldnt help but wonder, if the 5 other orders she told us her people got wrong were the people of color who were left at the restaurant (it was clearing out by the time we left) were the 5 orders that they got wrong. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant unless you have several hours to kill and you are not really hungry.
Celebrating our 25th anniversary weekend, this was a nice surprise. Nicole was our server and she was training a new server. The decor is beaitiful with eclectic pieces. The food was great. We will definitely recommend to friends.
Very good food. Drinks looked interesting but didnt have any. Casual and comfortable. Outside seating so you dont have to do curbside or delivery although the have those. Food was fresh and hot and reasonably priced.
Had the seared catch of the day. Was so delicious. Waitress was attentive. Service was prompt. Even stayed for the delicious cheesecake. I have however been having problems with my stomach since I ate the fish. It was tasty but it may have not agreed with my system. It was a type of fish Ive never had before. Overall it was a fine dining experience.

This place is so fun to eat at! the staff there are all very nice(especially Andi!) and welcoming and so is the place/decoration. it’s a very cute place to eat at and there food is super yummy and i would definitely try to save room for dessert!
