Worst Safeway I have ever been to, with the worst customer service I have experienced. A few weeks ago I asked a produce clerk where to find something and he completely ignored me. Didnt even look at me and did not respond in any way. Ive asked this guy a question in the past and he responded very rudely that time. This was definitely the worst customer service I have ever come across.
This Safeway is at the gates to a giant elderly community and they refuse to stock quarters required for the residents to do their laundry. They say go to the bank nextdoor assuming that 100% of the elderly in our community are also unemployed!? What about people who still work and dont have bankers hours. How do they acquire change to do their laundry?
Its Safeway. Its in Moraga. They have nicer things than Safeways in areas that are not as affluent. Go there its the grocery store if you dont want to drive to whole foods in Lafayette.
Worst run supermarket I’ve experienced. Unfortunately, it is my local store. I sometimes go there to grab something quick, but I usually regret it. Today the line was all the way down the isle, and there was only one check stand open. The poor lady kept calling for assistance, and everyone told her to find someone else. I saw at least 5 other employees walking around stocking shelves, and no one helped. It took me 30+ minutes to get eggs. I will drive across town to Whole Foods in the future; it will be faster.
By far my favorite Safeway, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Lot’s of parking. Store is always well stocked and clean throughout.
This Safeway was well stocked today, Christmas Eve except for regular milk. Only had oat, tofu, and all the other plant based stuff. Im sure they are not the only store in this situation. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Thank you and God bless.
Horrible store. No self checkout, long lines, slow service
Microaggressions from WM shopper, and deli clerk uninformed on menu sandwiches dropped the rating on this otherwise nice location.
Cordial people, very good location.
A lot of times they dont have what I am looking for
Prices too high, the place is often a mess, and they commonly run out of things like milk... Only reason I go is that they are the closest store to me...
They are very patient and helpful with Elderly people
The recent renovation had spruced up the look of the store, and it is bright and clean, however selection is not great and this store seems to have low turnover, so check the expiry dates on your groceries carefully.
This store is small compared to any of the new safeway stores. Definitely an old store that was spruced up on the exterior, and cleaned up in the interior. It does not include the extras like many of the newer flagship stores. If there was one near me Id drive a little extra to go to the other stores. Inventory is about 20% less overall. I get it, it catered to one area primarily occupied by retired folks. But now, population has changed a little. They should have expanded the store.
Ordered 3 dell sandwiches. Excellent.
Nice clean facility
I didnt see anyone sanitizing shopping carts. Maybe the carts were all done before I arrived.
Always club card savings. Good deals on meat there, manager special section. Thats the hot tip.
What do you expect?Purchasing from this mega store is......Safeway!
Very clean and nice employees
Dont shop at this location often but experience today was EXCELLENT! I had a full cart of groceries but the young lady working the Express lane told me to come over anyway. Shes was friendly and energetic, and she had a good bagger helping as well. Got out fast. Thats the way the grocery buying process is supposed to work! Good job today Safeway
The employees try very hard to be kind to everyone. The seniors can be grouchy about nothing and there are a lot of seniors that frequent the store. I am one too! The employees deserve a medal for putting up with some of the bad attitudes that people have at that store. When we were little people reminded us to say please and thank you. Seniors! Remember please and thank you and being kind to those that are trying to help you!
Tice Valley Rd, Walnut Creek, Ca. This is the worst Safeway I have ever been in. We just moved to Rossmoor two months ago. Every time I go in there I leave not getting at least two items I needed because they don’t have them Their produce is horrendous. Bruised or half rotten. I have shopped at Safeway all my life and am really disappointed. Do you think older shoppers can’t see this terrible produce and just settle. Painting the inside will not help your business. I will shopping at my old Safeway in Pleasant Hill. It might be further but at least I won’t be making two trips to get my groceries. You need to get some new buyers. Do some research. I may change to Lunardis.
I like this Safeway, because not only is everything really clean and well stocked, but they have a really nice floral department. When buying flowers I either hit this safe way or Trader Joes.
Good Ice Cream
Takes forever to check out of this Safeway. Not only because theyre usually short cashiers, but also all the Rossmoor seniors paying with checks or pennies. Drives me nuts coming here but I do a lot of shopping there for my mother that lives in Rossmoor so its a convenient location.
Smaller Safeway store. Had everything I needed. Checkout was fast and efficient.
Badly, BADLY needs a self-checkout lane.
Out of all of the Safeways Ive visited across the country; this one is the only one that gets 5 stars. Extremely helpful employee with relevant recommendations. 10/10
Not a great Safeway. Its a bit small and the meat and bread selection is weak.
Unremarkable, forgot I had been there until I had seen the receipt. It is not my usual store.
Vegetable guy rudely talked about me as I walked away. Heard him talk to a deli worker negatively about another person when I was shopping nearby.
Always clean, professional & friendly staff, I can find anything I want
Busy but patient customer service
Clean, good selection, produce is usually of very high quality and most of the employees are very nice.
I only shop at this runt Safeway when Im desparate. They even stopped carrying regular 1% milk in half gallons, despite most Rossmoor residents preference for smaller, lightter containers. Low or no sugar breakfast cereal selection is poor. Deli and bakery run out of items early and the former hates to restock after 5pm.The store motto should be We dont carry it or were out, Have A Nice Day.
Nice market. well stocked. great selection of specialty items. friendly staff.
Nice clean open.
I went in for 3 products. Only one was available. The manager was unhelpful. Cynthia in produce helped me because the mgr vanished. Cynthia was kind, attentive and most helpful. She wrote rainchecks for me. She went to search for one of the products i wanted where the mgr didnt even attempt to look. This Safeway is dark, depressing, outdated and poorly staffed and not stocked well. I only shop there when i need something quickly.
Kind of a small and crowded Safeway store. Not as much selection as most Safeway stores but but bad selection for what they do have. Basically meets the basics. And the shopping center is fairly uncrowded, easy parking. Biggest complaint was the clerk doing the checkout for us, but probably not g fair to over generalize that one issue.
Store is very small and pretty often you cannot find necessary products.
Great service, fresh food, and affordable.
We call this location the Safeway museum ; it has not been updated in quite a while. They frequently run out of items, sale or not.Late day visits are always problematic. Fewer checkers after 4 pm - why?. Fresh bakery items are usually gone by mid afternoon. Deli employees are sometimes grouchy, clean up during the 5 pm rush (!!) and want to close about 7 pm (store is open until midnight).Oh, and dont forget that SFBA ultra-high pricing. Many items are priced the same as nearby premium groceries! The immediate area is growing slightly (new condos) so the shopping center could support competition.
Fast easy check out.
Deli is never staffed well. Wait time is very long. Most deli staff are very nice though. Deli ingredients are very old looking not fresh, sandwich ingredients dried out and always out of something or another(wonder how they pass health inspection). If going on your lunch break prepare them to take your entire 30 min break just to make your sandwich. Fountain machine always out of the drink you want or out of everything.
Limited items at this store.
Store is small with extremely dated interior. Not always clean. Limited amount of staff which can result in long waiting times at peak hours. Be sure to check expiration dates on products. Only plus is large amount of available parking. Do not recommend, can and should do better.
Very clean, and nice employees
Well stocked, clean and convenient. Warning though...under construction so getting to parking can be a little awkward.
Carts are not being cleaned. Elderly are being subjected to possible Covid 19 exposure which can be fatal.
I was there just after the work hours (6pm) there was only two checkers, the lines were out into the lanes. The checker was very nice.... but the command decisions left some question as to their abilities.
Most folks there are nice but service is poor. nicknamed the Moscow Safeway- West (the Moscow Safeway- East is on Wilson in Arlington, Virginia). poor choice of products, never enough checkers, lines long, no one at customer service most of the time. Because near older folks residences this Safeway seems to think we dont care about variety and we have time to spend standing around waiting waiting waiting...
Barely OK. It just doesnt measure up in any way, except that the checkers are friendly and courteous. Otherwise, shop somewhere else.
December 2018, This is the second time that the customer service is poor quality. I have shopped at Safeway for 35 years and recently moved to Roosmore a few months ago. I am greatly disappointed with the cashiers especially. I feel sorry for the senior citizen population not receiving the same kindness and care thatI have received at other Safeway stores in northern California.Follow up, January 20, 2019, Safeway now have 4 to 6 cashiers everyday. Wonderful progress indeed and deserves a 4 star. Next, lets ask Safeway for a self check should be made available at this store for customers who buy literally a few items a day and i will give a 5 star, if a self check out can be added. Thank you.
Dont go here if youre on a tight schedule! The employees dont know how to spell Customer Service; especially in the Deli area, where they turn their backs (literally) on their customers while unboxing products at a snails pace. No acknowledgement that youre even standing there! The only thing they consistently deliver is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Its Safeway. You can get almost anything there. Essential for civilization.
Like no Safeway I had as a kid...this place is a generous substitute for a Wegmans and easily rivals a good Harris Teeter!
Some products is over priced. Only 1 register open in the morning. Easy parking. Nice and clean store.
This is for the deli sandwiches: they are yummy. Although an employee at the checkout was super duper nice.
Always out of Fairlife fat free milk. Complained three times but no change including today! Poor inventory management
This store is located in an area next to an elderly community that is quite massive. Most of the people who work here, however, dont treat their clientele with much respect. The lines are always long. I realize this may not be up to the store, but when you see clerks standing around not doing anything besides talking, it is really awful. The deli here is horrible, too. It bothers me much more then the huge lines. It takes 20+ minutes to get a sandwich and they taste horrible.
Pluses.personnel were friendly. Store was clean. Cons. Shelves were either understocked or non stocked (could not get some items.
Be expected to wait in line 30 mins
It depends on the location as all Safeways are not equal! The one on Tice Creek by Rossmoor is not a good example of their stores. Even though they service a large population including many retirees they think that just because some of these people do not drive they can offer substandard service because they cant get to other markets easily. When the entire complex was undergoing a complete overhaul and they were asked if they wanted to expand, they said NO. Big mistake. I will go to almost any other Safeway like in Alamo or Walnut Creek unless im in a big hurry.
Small but customer service was the best. Theyre extremely nice
Always smells like old fish. Prices are high and quality of food is low.
One of the smaller Safeways but well stocked and nice produce.
No rotisserie chicken. That is the only reason I went. Miss Super Wal Mart!!
Putting aside the peeling paint and rather drab, old fashioned appearance of the store and its interior, this is a throwback to old Safeways of the 70s, and not in a fun nostalgic way. Very limited choices in foods, especially of the prepared variety and in the deli compared to modern Safeways. And no pharmacy. Plenty of parking though, and the staff are nice.
This Safeway really takes advantage of seniors! Always long lines to check out, some specials not honored! Come on Safeway do better for residents of Rossmoor!
Great place, very helpful employees. Cashiers are fast and nice
Do not deal with the customer service manager Vicki. She wouldnt accept my mothers check for only 32.00! I went to another Safeway and they did. She was rude. Will do business at other Safeways stores not at Rossmoor.
Good location and friendly employees, but prices are a bit too high..
Peeling paint, rotting wood, wood that is pulling away from original location is what greets u as u approach this Safeway. Trip to bathroom is through stckroom that has not been refreshed since it was originally built. This is a tired, run down, ugly, and abused Safeway location.
They have some really nice Birthday cards!!!
This store is a huge disgrace for Safeway. All the other Safeways in the area are clean and modern. This store is like from the 1950s. Poor people at Rossmore with no car have no others choice. So the corporation has more competitive locations to spend their money on.
Tours of Rossmoor start at this location. Rossmoortour.com for more information.
Horrible. Always under staffed. Large lines.
One of the smaller Safeways Ive ever been to, and there are often 5-6 people in line at each register, with another 4 or 5 registers closed. Would appreciate self check-out here.
Hate to see what will happen in a real crisis people be out of their minds
With it being at the bottom of Rossmoore they need wider isles so the elderly can move around.
This is the oldest and only unremodeled Safeway in Walnut Creek. Not impressed.
This is the worst Safeway store ever. Aisles are small, limited food choices, surly checkers, check out area tiny so the entire area gets blocks, dark and rather dirty. Safeway should be embarrassed.
The outside of the store has visable rotton wood and paint is pealing. Obviously Safeway does not care about the appearance of the rundown condition of this store
The Safeway website to log complaints / compliments is unduly labor intensive to navigate. You will receive multiple requests to provide TONS of irrelevant information on this web form. This discourages feedback by the customer because of the amount of silly information required. Ive logged one compliant about lack of one lousy basic milk product there and already THREE (3) customer service agents keep on writing back to request more and more irrelevant information from me. For Gods sake, Im just letting you folks know that one lousy milk product is not offered on the shelves much. Thats it! You would think I had to write a thesis on all the particulars that have nothing to do with the milk products not being stocked. Next, they will ask me for my shoe size before I can complete the web form.
Good produce options and lovely cheesecake
Terrible Safeway, avoid shopping here when I can. Of the few things I came in to buy one was past date since 45 days ago.
Love the flowers. High turnover with produce, deli, fruit.
Extremely long lines in rush hours. Lack of parking lots
Expensive
Great location, friendly employees, although a bit outdated.
Shelves are hardly shelved with products and staff dont seem to care about customer service, especially management.Such a disappointment for the Safeway company.
The service is good
No product, no checkers. Same thing every day
Great store but expensive.
Friendly staff. More often than not, items on the shelf have already expired. If you shop here, check the date on everything you buy.
Nice friendly store
Always fresh produce
