We have had our framing done here for almost twenty years. Matin has an astonishing eye for color and texture. We have found that nine times in ten we agree with her first or second suggestion even if we initially insisted on trying some of our own ideas. Matin is a joy to work with. She is the best framer we have ever worked with, and we are in our 70s.Abbas is a superb restorer. Earlier this year we took him a more than century old oil painting which was finished years ago with a varnish that turned white paint into brownish yellow. The painting has great sentimental value, so we really wanted it done right. Abbas was able to remove the varnish and perform some delicate touch up painting. It now looks terrific. Matin is absolutely fabulous! We had many family pictures and she framed 50 pictures for us for a picture wall. We have also had many other pictures framed by her as we redecorated our house. I highly recommend her. Her prices are very reasonable and her work is of the highest quality.

I will only go to preservation and framing from now on! They are cheaper than michaels with amazing ideas on framing from your child’s art work and photos to antique jewelery or your grandmother wedding dress. Even keep sales that are Special to you they cram in the most unique way. I have very old tapestries with gold thread that should not be used with glue, they went out of their way to sow my material on a silk back drop so they don’t use glue that will ruin your precious keepsakes and antiques.Oh and they also do restorations! If the White House trusts them so do I!!!

Preservation and Framing is the only place to go if you want beautiful work of high quality done with your art, photos or heirlooms. Over many years, this is the only place I have used for preserving and framing important art and documents. The work is always completed in a timely fashion with skill and caring. If it is framing that I needed - then the choices were plentiful. I have had art work done in box frames and family photos framed in wood. If you have important information about the piece that you need to keep (dates of purchase, artist names, personal letters, etc) then sleeves are put on the back to protect and maintain the documents. You can count on the excellent workmanship, fair pricing and problem solving that you find at Preservation and Framing.

First time purchasing a custom frame here and had a wonderful experience. The proprietress was cool, helpful and highly collaborative — she had fabulous ideas, which made our art piece look even better than we had hoped. Overall, the process took a very reasonable amount of time, which isnt always the case with other framers. We recommend this shop wholeheartedly, and plan to be back for other projects.

This is a great frame shop with excellent service, a friendly atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff. As a first-time framer I was not very familiar with all of the different framing and matting options, but after answering a couple of simple questions and going through different color patterns, I ended up with a frame job that was exactly what I was looking for. Would highly recommend this store.

At my desk, I sit in front of a Frank Benson etching that looks pristine and fresh. It once was severely foxed and in tough shape when I took it to Matin and Abbas. They have performed their magic on etchings, oil paintings, and framing for us many times. We had one early 19th century color print that was glued to a cardboard backing. The colors seemed faded. Abbas managed to remove the cardboard and somehow restore the vibrant original colors. It has been framed so that it floats on the surface of the mat so one can see the irregular edges of an antique print. Their expertise is fabulous. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

This was my first actual professional framing experience, but after I brought back a gorgeous painting from another country, I felt it was worth the expense. Matin and Jessica were both helpful and kind, and the simple but beautiful framing makes my painting even more gorgeous. A bit pricey, but I get the sense that you get what you pay for in this trade. Very creative in helping me choose frames, archival mountings, conservation services are available, and beautiful mouldings. I have been very happy with everything they have done for me. I received an 18th century Chinese tapestry from my uncle and, even though it had been in the family for decades, it had never received any sort of restoration or preservation work. Needless to say, it was in pretty rough shape!I called Preservation and Framing Services to see if they were the type of place that would guide me on how to preserve this piece. Lucky for me, they were! Matin was immediately welcoming and invited me to her shop where we unveiled the tapestry together. I easily trusted her to take care of the tapestry and agreed with all of her suggestions.Matin is clearly an expert and has excellent taste. This was a very very fragile piece and I never once doubted her ability to preserve it in the best way possible. Matin was also very communicative throughout the process and even offered to deliver it to our home for free. This was much appreciated as the tapestry is quite large.We just received it today and could not be happier! It is GORGEOUS and I can easily tell how much care Matin used on this tapestry. Shes immensely talented and I would trust her with my most treasured pieces. We will definitely be using her again in the near future!

Ive been going to Preservation and Framing for over twenty years. Theyve always done outstanding work. Im writing now because Im especially pleased with the job they did in framing a montage of some photographs for a memorial service for my parents, both of whom passed away this year. Most recently, before this job, Preservation and Framing did some restoration work for me on three late nineteenth century Japanese woodblock prints. Acquired by my mother when she was working with the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal the prints had been improperly stored in an old trunk. They were still flat but highly foxed. Preservation and Framing brought them back to life, making them look almost new. Which I appreciate greatly as they are another way for me to remember my parents.My guess is that this shop does the highest quality, most professional restoration and framing one can find in northwest DC. I recommend them without hesitation.
