Dave is the best mechanic. I have a 20 year old car that I hope to drive for 20 more years because of Dave. I have never been condescended to by anyone on his staff and never feel ripped off. In fact, he often charges me less than his estimate and regularly tells me not to bother to fix some stuff. He also lets me order after-market parts myself and then I just pay his team labor costs. Everyone who works there is nice, enormously competent and clearly enjoys their work.

Great people here, especially David, the owner. As a person with only basic car knowledge, this is the first time Ive ever really felt like I could trust a mechanic. Just down-to-earth good people and good work. Fast repairs, friendly people, personalized service, inexpensive, and never a hint of them trying to upsell me or charge me for things I didnt need. Getting my alternator replaced cost me about half as much here (including parts and labor) as another place that I had look at it. I cant recommend this place enough; Ill be coming back to DP Auto Service whenever I have any other car issue. You should too.

I was coming in from out of town when my brakes gave out. I was able to give DP auto and get them replaced the next day in under two hours. The price was unbeatable and the customer service was better than any other repair shop Ive been to. 10/10, cant recommend enough.

Straight-forward, no bs service; “pride in our honesty” is something they live by, not marketing mumbo jumbo. Knowledgable, efficient, and pricing that would be very competitive in much cheaper locales than the District, to boot. It’s sort of an intimidating, no frills environment—but if you put your trust in this business, I think you’ll be rewarded with good work at a very fair price.

Took my car to get the tire checked. It was losing pressure. In 10 minutes, the mechanic fixed the flat in the tire, while I waited. Excellent service. Very impressed. Very reasonable charge for the service provided. Recommend highly.

My car wouldn’t start and after looking at some google reviews decided to go to DP. Everyone there was very friendly, and knowledgeable. My car was dropped off by a tow tuck, and it was ready to get picked up by the end of the day. I needed a new starter. Prices were fair (which is unusual when I go in because I’m a woman and sometimes car shops think they can rip me off). Would recommend, and I will definitely be bringing my car back if there are anymore issues.

David at DP Auto is easily the best mechanic Ive ever worked with. He helped fix a problem on my car that had been and issue for 6+ months that no other mechanic seemed able to figure out. The car is running better than ever now. David was able to show me the issue on my car, and test it while I was there to see what the issue was. Ive never had a mechanic be so quick or transparent in that way. Additionally the price was very fair/good, and the car was ready quickly, exactly within the time window that David said it would be. For these reasons I highly recommend David and DP Auto and will be sending all of my friends here too.

These folks are awesome, I am new to DC and was looking for a good auto shop to keep my super-old Honda in driveable shape and they fixed me right up. I plan on coming here until either my car dies or I soup it up with a sleeper engine and ride off into the sunset. Alright JK but seriously these guys are honest, professional and efficient. Honest mechanic who does great work.

DP Auto Service is awesome! I had a check engine light illuminated. I have a device to get the fault code. I also did hours of research trying to figure out what was wrong and what part I needed. It had something to do with an oxygen sensor. I purchased a sensor and called in to have it replaced, letting them know what sensor I had. Lo and behold, I got the wrong brand and not the original equipment manufacturer, and instead some aftermarket part. DP Auto told me to look up the part for a specific brand that Toyotas use, and I did. While Lexus (owned by Toyota) was quoting me $420 for the parts and labor plus a mandatory $150 diagnostic fee, I panicked a bit and said no. The dealership was charging $237+tax for the part alone! I went the route of doing the diagnostic work and ordering the part myself for about $65. I went to DP Auto and got the part replaced the day of in about an hour The cost was very fair for the labor. To sum it up, I took a chance, did the diagnostic, and its on me if it didnt work out. However, I have no more check engine light and couldnt be more relieved. I hate those dash board warning lights, and Ive put this off for too long.

David and his crew at DP are great. I used to live conveniently near them, which made getting the car there easy--especially when you needed a tow. Then I moved out of the immediate area, just far enough that a person might not want to make the trek back to DP. But guess what? Even with the extra travel time, I still take my car back for oil, lube, & filter, repairs, and other maintenance thanks to the quality work and fair prices. Nobody else compares. Thanks, DP!

Ive been bringing my car to DP Auto Service for a few different jobs over the past couple of years. They have consistently provided quality service at a fair price and, more importantly, never push for work thats not needed. I know that if they suggest a repair soon, its a legitimate concern that I can plan around. For DC-based auto service, hard to do better than here.

Got an oil change and tire rotation earlier this week. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff was courteous and efficient. And they didnt even mess with the drivers seat and mirrors, like so many other places tend to do.Ill definitely be going back again. Highly recommend.

I will literally drive out of my way to come here over any other body shop. The staff is incredibly honest, kind, FAST and wont try to sell you on other services you dont need. Im here for a regular oil change and check up right now, but last time I was up in Gaithersburg with a flap of God knows what hanging off my under carriage making the most horrendous noise driving down 270, and I drove all the way here just to get it checked. Yes, I looked ridiculous. Yes, I sounded like my car was going to explode at any second. But I wouldnt have taken it to any other place but DP.Plus, while you wait you can run to cvs across the street or get coffee at politics and prose😬

I’ve been going here for 4 years. David and his team are great at both reactive and preventative maintenance. Over the course of 4 years here I’ve had them fix all sorts of issues w/my 15 year old Honda— AC, power steering, a flat, normal wear and tear. Being new to DC I was relying on reviews to find a solid auto shop in town. My experience with Dave at DP couldnt have been better! My steering wheel had been rattling for months, after taking it to 2 shops, the first quoted over 1k to fix, the 2nd said they couldnt fix the problem. Dave took a look at it and let me know he had run into this before and Hyundai had actually sent out a recall for this exact problem. While my car didnt qualify to be repaired under the recall I was beyond impressed that he suggested I go that route vs making the money from the repair. In the end he fixed the problem for a fraction of what I was quoted at by other shops. And also noticed a flat tire that I didnt even realize I had! Couldnt have asked for better value or service!

Rolled up to DP Auto without a reservation this morning, looking for a quick oil change on my 93 Accord. The place was already packed at 10 AM on a Saturday and I wondered whether or not theyd be able to fit me in. I also asked for a few other small things, like checking my tires, making sure my battery bolts were tight,a removing a rusty rotor protector plate. They did it all and charged me an extremely reasonable amount. Five stars all around. Many thanks, DP Auto!

Great prices, friendly staff, free wifi, quick turnaround, and wonderful work! Being a female, it can be scary getting work done to your car. Mechanics tend to hike up the prices or provide low service. However, I have no worries when I go to DP auto service.

Stopped there on my way home from work just to see if they could fit in an oil change. It was 30 minutes before they closed so I knew it probably wasnt going to happen but instead of just telling me that, one of their mechanics berated me for coming in late and told me he wants to go home too. I asked another one when a good time would be to drop it off the next day and got more attitude from him. Pretty rude treatment considering Ive been taking my car there awhile... Again I knew it was a stretch and even told them when I asked that If they cant do it, i would just bring it by another day

Trustworthy mechanics. DP Auto was recommended to me by a friend. They looked over my car immediately, in my presence, and told me what was wrong. Since I am able to replace the parts myself, they let me go without a charge. The guy even gave me some pointers on one of the replacements. He also took my words seriously as a woman, which is so rare from mechanics. I will definitely be back. I may have found my new go-to mechanic after 3 years of searching!

I just had an amazing experience here. I’ve come to this place twice. First time was to have my rear tire patched up for a nail and the second time was to get the tires checked and make sure my car was ready for a long trip. Every time I go to an auto service place I get nervous, because I don’t want to get bamboozled! But this crew has always been honest, helpful, and they know what they’re doing! I would recommend this place to everyone.

Ive taken it to multiple mechanics who couldnt figure out the problem, but David solved it quickly and with minimal expense. It was amazing he could identify the issue so swiftly. My experience here was first rate. I was visiting D.C., to drop my daughter off at school, when my oil light came on. After putting a quart off oil in, no oil was on the dip stick. I looked under the car and oil was everywhere. I was in an unfamiliar city and had no idea where to go. I Googled closest service station and proceeded to DP first thing in the morning. Upon arrival, I was asked what the problem has and my car was immediately on the lift and attended to. Turns out I had oil changed in New York the day before and the filter was installed wrong. Simple inexpensive fix. I was at their mercy and they treated me right. I cant say enough good things about the place. I want to thank the owner and mechanics for turning my nightmare around.

I have been going to DP Auto Service since David took over. I trust them. They charge fair prices and dont pad the bill. I learn about my car by talking to them (rotors arent supposed to look like records???), which I really appreciate as someone who would otherwise know next to nothing about a vehicle I depend on literally every day.

This is a great, no nonsense place to get your car fixed. Payed less than 2/3 the price every other mechanic in the area quoted me on for brake pads. Prior to this, I was told that I may need new rotors, but the guys at DP told me they were fine even though they could have tried to get me to buy them. Service was quick too.

These guys seem honest. Had to take my car in a few times for them to finally fix it but they didnt charge me for additional labor and kept me well informed of its progress and what needed fixing. Better experience than Ive had at other body shops in the area

I just picked my car up from taking it back to DP as the engine light came back on. After talking with the owner he took another look and changes my spark plugs that were misfiring. Thank you for resolving this issue. This is a stand up shop.Took my car up with engine light on and he said it was my ignition switch. Cost me $280 I get in my car this morning and my check engine light is back on. Needless to say I am not having a very good morning and Im very upset. The Owner saw a review I posted earlier and took the time to call me. I will be taking my car back up there to see if he can fix the issue. I appreciate him taking his time out of his day to reach out to me.
