This was our first time in an Amazon store and we loved it. It was loaded with some good books as well as Amazon merchandise you normally only see online. We were able to receive a good discount since we are prime members. The young lady who checked us out was friendly and pleasant. The store was extremely clean and organized. We enjoyed our shopping adventure here.
I didnt want to like this place, as I do love a small independent bookseller. However, I have to admit that this place was fun, full of great books and other stuff, clean, easy to navigate, and reasonably priced. Even more instant gratification than Amazon online!
So exciting to see a physical shop by Amazon. The checkout is quick and painless. So many items to see, plus they have a Cafe in the basement with more books and such. Their coffee and tea is competitively good. They also have a play area/lounging area for those who have their kids with them. The Cafe is small and only have a few tables but its a quiet place to work and relax. Its on M street and easily accessible.
Great service and large selection and choice!
I saw someone said that there was a café inside, there isnt. Thats why it gets 4 stars. It holds more than books, it has a fair selection of small home/kitchen appliances and electronic gadgets. They prefer payment through their app and yes, prime members do get a better deal. There is a section to sit with outlets to charge your phone downstairs.
Very nice and well laid out bookstore. Just seems like a bit of a slap in the face to all of the brick and mortar bookstores Amazon put out of business with their website, to then turn around and open a brick and mortar bookstore.
If libraries are not your favorite places to hang out and if you want to check out all the Alexa-powered devices that money can buy, you will love this newly opened bookstore slash coffee shop slash electronics store. There is a place to sit down to read books while you are not shopping or wondering about the point of buying things in store instead of ordering online from the same company that delivers it in a few hours.
They have 4 star+ books. So they deserve 4 stars
You can go elsewhere to see the special selections of books, but go to this place to buy books if you like deals. They have Amazon ratings and reviews attached to all the books, and huge discounts for Amazon prime members.
It just opened in our neighborhood not too long ago! I was expecting to see all books like a library set up but they sell lots of electronic as well! All kinds of eco dots, Bose speakers, slow cooker, mixer and ...! But since it’s very brand new everything looks nice and organized which I would expect that any way! They have good varieties of books! It could be better to put books more toward the front of the store and electronics more behind the store since it’s called Amazon books! But I guess their designers know better! You can find out about the price by scanning your items! One level below there is Amazon coffee shop! You can take stairs to go there! We needed one book store in our neighborhood!
Honestly, I absolutely loved this place. I only docked a star because I know I shouldnt support Amazon. The enployees here are fantastic though, and the store is way bigger than it looks.
We need more of these stores. Love the product selections and of course the books
Staff was friendly and able to accept my Amazon return without issue.
Initially, my feelings about Amazon ruining (then replacing) the B&N or Borders business model with their own brick-n-mortar locations bothered me.However, after stopping by I must say, the store is a beautifully constructed welcomed addition to the neighborhood.Overall, the square footage compared to traditional big box stores is smaller - but what it lacks in space, it makes for with selection. My only negative comment, seating is limited. Hence (4) stars instead of five.
Its Amazon. Dont support monopoly power - plenty of great locally owned bookstores in DC.
Checked out a couple of great books including some great new books for the kids by ciara dunmore, kids of loving the coloring and tracing books thanks.
Bezos blows, theres a local spot across the street with an amazing local owner
Excellent place for books and gadgets. If youre a Prime member you get an extra discount.
I came in to buy a Kindle. The store is clean and laid out beautifully. I just wanted to give a shoutout to Richard (older man, I think that was his name!) for going above and beyond to help me with all my questions. He let me know that he was new but I could tell he was trying his very best to do all he could to help me. He even made some poetry recommendations as we were discussing books. He made the experience great, so if youre ever in the store seek him out for any help you may need. I had a little trouble paying with a gift card at the end, that the manager couldnt even help with, which was very frustrating and why I didnt give five stars but again, Richard made the experience worth writing a review for. Thanks Again!
A great addition to Georgetown. This book store is small and quaint. Great customer service was provided on my visit.
Went through the entire upstairs browsing the biography and history sections, then I asked to get the keypad code for the restroom and was told it was for buyers only. On what planet (except maybe a warped place like Seattle) is that considered acceptable service? I didn’t buy anything and cancelled my prime membership as soon as I walked out
They have REAL books here♥️
Always love to check out new book here.
Shop now!! You can get prime day discounts until next weekend. Great bargains !!
It appears to be too hard for the store to put their temporary hours online.
Good place to buy a book. Prime member can get extra discount.
Was okay, no place to sit and be or just relax. I bought a book.
Nice book store with most of the top selling book and products u find on the amazon website. Reading area for kids and a small coffee shop in the basement. No prices on shelves so you have to use your app or the price scanners that are scattered all over the store. If you are a prime member you will get a good discount on retail prices on nearly all products . The place also showcases and sells its digital products such as the echo and fire.Definitely worth a visit if you are in DC
There are two sides to Amazon Books. On one hand, it’s the physical manifestation of Amazon owner’s, Jeff Bezos, business principle of being “customer obsessed.” He uses data to understand his customer and then creates an experience just for you. The flip side of this genius business model is that critics bark at the demise of independent bookstores due to the rise of Amazon. Amazon Books is a slap in every little, family owned bookstore no longer. “Now that we put you out of business, let’s open physical bookstores everywhere,” says Amazon.Regardless of your view on Amazon (genius or monster), Amazon Books is worth a visit simply to see how they use data to push sales. Here’s why:1) They have all the usual sections you’d expect a bookstore to have- travel, magazines, self-improvement, fiction, etc., but they also have sections sourced from Amazon sales. For example, they have a section on the top books from lesser known authors on Amazon or the top books Washington, D.C. is reading. It’s genius.2) Based on top sales on Amazon, they set up the store to place the top selling sections in the front.3) The top books have their rating on Amazon and a customer review to go with it.Other smart approaches:1) They have a celebrity section of celebrities who have written books and what they recommend reading.2) They often have displays that recommend other books if you liked a certain book.3) They matches prices that are cheaper on Amazon for Prime Members.4) Amazon products and electronics are sold.5) There’s a coffee shop downstairs brewing Allegro Coffee (also brewed at Whole Foods, owned by Amazon).A few disappointments:1) The travel section is weak. They only have a few country specific guides and only one brand of travel books.2) There aren’t many reading areas. There is a nook downstairs but the upstairs has none and it feels crowded.Amazon Books is still worth a trip if you’re in Georgetown!
Great layout, easy to find what your looking for. All the employees were very helpful. Will definitely be going back soon
Standard Amazon store. Usually always crowded.
A lot of books and electronics and items overall. Never seen one in my area and itd totally worth it plus the prime discount further make you gets it
The employees were very helpful
This small Amazon Bookstore is two floors and mainly contains just the most recent bestsellers. Don’t expect the selection of Barnes and Nobles or Borders. It also sells Amazon accessories and small gifts. Downstairs there is a children’s area with a stage.I’ve visited on weekday nights and it is quiet with usually just the associates around. It’s a good place to browse new books and read excerpts.
Very pleasant staff during the time of Covid...FYI theres more than just books, they always have some of the top selling Amazon gadgets, toys, and other miscellaneous items there.
I didnt catch the employees name, but he was very friendly and had very positive personality. Originally I went in to keep dry from the rain while my wife was in the embassy. We had a conversation about life changing positive experiences, and recommended Mans Search For Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl. If I could Id go back and say thank you to the fellow!
Bizarrely rude staff.
Good books here
The pet stuff is gone and finally a new rotation of stuff! Love this place but stock not refreshed as often as I would like.
Great selection and discounts for prime members. Friendly and helpful staff!
Friendly helpful staff and a variety of books and other necessities.
They have many interesting products as well as books. Its good place for us to return the packages from Amazon online shopping.
Very clean and nice. You get the same prices as online.
Clean, well organized, good book recommendations. I get too overwhelmed with picking a book to read when a bookstore is heavily stacked with books, so this store is nice with carefully curated books to quicken the choosing process (note I only read like maybe one to two purely-for-fun books a month). And hey, if the book doesnt end up being a page turner, its easy to return here. So its a 5-star for me.
Large store with all kinds of items from amazon it is a book store so youll find mostly books and you get prime price for them if youre a prime member its nice to not wait for the shipping!
Convenient location in the middle of Georgetown. The book selection is decent, and being able to see a collection of Amazons e-reader and tablet devices in person is helpful if youre looking to buy. Also an easy place to make returns for other Amazon purchases if needed.
Great store as a prime member to see such amazing deals!
Didnt get to even begin shopping. Wasnt allowed to use the restroom until after a purchase, so unfortunately had to leave. Did not return.
Smaller than I expected so not as much collection. Otherwise, nice store.
Its amazon in the real world not virtual. Customer service was non-existent... But they were probably all trying to stay away from people in an overcrowded store. I felt really uncomfortable with the lack of social distancing and didnt stay long.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Loved the atmosphere.
It is not a book shop bu an Amazon shop.
Like the store. Prime price for prime members.
Not a huge selection but fun to look around
Miss the coffee shop. Receipt holder bathrooms only was odd, especially when shopping but not yet done looking around.
Its a decent enough book store but honestly I mostly use it to return Amazon goods. Returning items is always quick and easy and the staff is always friendly.
Love this bookstore. Good layout, big area for kids with seating, magnetic tiles and tablets too. Each book features its star rating and a review from an Amazon reader. Has a section for books that are popular in your geographic area. Really enjoy this spot!
Fantastic. Cant wait to visit again. Wish they had these in every city. Great selection of books. Relaxed atmosphere. Clean restrooms. Great area for kids. Got stuck in a rain storm with kids, snuck in here and had a blast waiting it out.
Everything in here was very well organized! I love that they have a whole section where they recommend you new books based on others you may have liked. I also liked that they had included amazon reviews for all the books. They have a very wide selection of books (as expected).
Its the books store of the future
Neat place that has a good variety of books, some electronics and a whole section downstairs that we didnt even see. They have ratings for Amazon visible so that you can see what people have rated them. Interesting store to pop into if you are in the area.
I think I was expecting this store to be almost like a Barnes &Nobles, but its not. There sAre a variety of books, but it may not be what you are looking for. It has only 4-star and above books, so you may be disappointed if the book you are looking for is not in the store. I did find at least two book I wanted to start reading, but it wasnt what I went in for. So, there are some pros and cons to the store. Just in and see what they have to offer.
The book selection was right up there with competition like Barnes and Noble. The store itself is rather small in size, but that did not stop the store from laying out hundreds of books organized into well thought out sections grabbing the eye of most shoppers. The Book store also offers a coffee shop downstairs that really compliments the great smell of a relaxing library. This grabs the attention of all the other shoppers;). Overall, the customer service at the checkout was very kind and understanding.
Great bookshop. I especially like the fact that they give you suggestions based on best sellers that you might have read. There is a cafeteria downstairs, where I spent one afternoon working and it was very quiet (although it was a weekday, weekends are probably more hectic I imagine). Nice feature of the shop is that you can pay through the Amazon app if you are a prime subscriber.
How do you tell someone you are going to the Amazon bookstore. Its hard but worth it. Im old, still love playing with all the gadgets and feeling the books. Its a wonderful place, a real bookstore with everything Amazon.
Enjoyed the shopping, browsing and reading experience here. Dont expect to find hidden treasures here as all the items on display are highly rated Amazon items. Prices are reasonable (same as Prime online if you are a Prime member). Nice seating nook and coffee downstairs.
Great spot. Outlets downstairs to do work. Friendly staff with a great coffee shop that also has teas and kombucha.Great books and gear at Amazon prices too. Love it.
You get to find everything you need and the employees were very welcoming. They took time to explain and answer questions.
I had to return an item for my mom. The process was super fast and easy. They sent an email with a code attached. They scanned the code on my phone and that was it. My mom received an email within the hour telling her the money would be back on her card within 5 days! Parking is pretty non existent in this area, but there is a bus stop almost in front of the place. That made it convenient for me. The staff is helpful and the decor and vibe is really nice.
If libraries are your favorite places to hang out and if you want to check out all the Alexa-powered devices that money can buy, you will love this newly opened bookstore slash coffee shop slash electronics store. The person who designed it is a genius. All the books are displayed so you see the cover, which makes it like 50x more likely that youll buy it. Plus its just so fun to scan your book and see the cheaper price youll be paying. There is a place to sit down to read books while you are not shopping or wondering about the point of buying things in store instead of ordering online from the same company that delivers it in a few hours. Cafe on the bottom floor is great too!
Bookworms paradise. Has every book you could imagine from childrens books to nonfiction to bestsellers. Also has a great selection of ereaders, tablets, and even headphones. Also, there were substantial discounts for amazon prime members, (some books were almost half off for prime members). Pleasantly surprised by my visit.
I enjoyed going into an actual bookstore. I found some books with ease. There weren’t too many books, just enough.
Awesome book store. Great place to browse and buy. Like their website you can find about anything in print.
Sure supporting local book stores is better for humanity, but this place is so cool! It had an amazing selection and being able to get amazon prime prices is unmatched. The cafe downstairs is sneakily good too. I am a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy novels and they have a great selection here! Stop by if you ever find yourself strolling down M.
I wanted to give this place a hard time... but it was just lovely in there! The Apple store of book stores. Great customer service, beautiful ambiance, and very convenient for returning amazon packages. Well done!
Conveniently located on Georgetown next to Nike store. Metro Bus stop at the front door. Helpful staff and many electronic gadgets to demo.Coffe house on the lower level has best cookies. One of the few retail stores that still stocks hard to find Magazines.
Girlfriend likes books. I like that is has not books too. Fastest prime they offer yet.
My favorite spot in Georgetown. I cant help but come out with some book on my hands. Such good selections.
Really awesome bookstore. There are only the more popular titles at the bookstore. I would recommend downloading the Amazon app prior to your visit to ensure an easy checkout. The staff is friendly and helpful and books are neatly organized. I would give it 5/5 stars, but the app downloading is kinda annoying. But Pro is the free and fast wifi!
It was really cool to see a physical Amazon store. They had books, Alexa devices, and other smart home items. Didnt compare prices to online store but believe they would be the same.
Great place love shopping there
Super cool concept - lots of Amazin electronics and kids things in addition to the books. Cool coffee shop downstairs with delicious tea. Hope they come out with more if these.
My Kids loved it. They have a section for tablets,y kids love to spend time to play there. They also have kids section on lower floor. They also have a coffee shop on the lower floor which is great for me to get a coffee and read. I wish they open a branch in VA near me.
Why do you have the heat do high in this store ? Spoils the browsing experience and made me walk out
I didn’t want to like this place...on principle...because I like to support local bookstores...but went in just to see what a real Amazon store was like. It was really good....interesting selection of books all with hand written reviews....I like the section of “if you loved this you’d like this”....If you are a Prime member you can buy the books at online price ....I went back 3 times...and bought several books....so much for principles!
Very polite and professional staff
