I love Politics & Prose, but today I had an unpleasant experience. I needed help to get a book that was on the highest shelf. When I asked the young woman for help to get it, she was not nice almost like we were bothering her: “define high” she said. I was just trying to get my kid her book and buy it.

Cool throwback to classic bookstores. Brick/stone walls, high shelves, and a great selection of books. Have found some gems in here and plan to head back when I need some more material!

Union Market has it all, except a bookstore...until now! Local growing bookstore, Politics and Prose opened a small shop off to the side of Union Market near the new sushi restaurant, O-Ku.Its one of their smallest locations, but they still found a way to pack in every section that should be in a bookstore from history to travel to wellness. They also sell DC made items and baby items like books. Theres even a small area of seats to enjoy your book. They want to be a neighborhood shop and offer free membership to any resident in the surrounding neighborhoods. They also offer events each month for kids and adults. The staff are friendly and funny!

This review is for RYAN at the Coffee Shop who made me the BEST LATTE Ive ever had in my life. It was an Oatmilk Decaf Latte. I proceeded to try 3 more while in DC and his was still my favorite.I will be back! Also, bookstore stocked 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson so I was impressed.

Politics and Prose boasts a tremendous collection of books across topics but also fights well above its weight as a convener for events on various issues across politics and fiction. The store is small relative to its breathren in the Wharf and up Connecticut Avenue. Perfect for enjoying a coffee or stopping in while strolling through Union Market.

First time, came to listen to Mallory OMearas talk about her new book: Lady From the Black Lagoon. It was an intimate and cozy event, in the back of a darn cute bookstore. Would come again, easy!
