Great service in addition to products.I purchased a Sony RX100M6 the day before my vacation, and when I returned home was stuck in figuring out the manual for how to upload the images to phone/laptop. Staff went out of their way to help me with both processes, watching to ensure that I fully understood how to do this on my own. Also advised on techniques for photographing in blinding sunshine. Very helpful, and I made the right decision to purchase from here!
I wanted to love the store but unfortunately, the man attending me, left me speaking alone before finish explaining what I was looking for. Another guy offered help which was very nice, but Im so disappointed. Do not recommend if youre looking to fix a film/old camera (they dont offer that service). Instead, I recommend Pro Photo, they are awesome and you can find everything you need for photography.
I have been using District Cameras services over the past 6 months and they have gone above and beyond with their help. Their expertise is unmatched and their patience and kindness has kept me coming back. Shoutout to Marvin who has helped me find the correct film for my camera, showed me how to load and unload the film, and helped me with the trials of development.
I bought my first film camera and walked into district camera with no clue what I needed or what I was doing - and they were SO a helpful. Sayd helped me understand the photography basics and sent me on my way with all the right accessories. This is an awesome, well-stocked store and I will be coming back for any future photography needs. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I bought a lens cap, battery, camera bag, and camera strap.
Dropped my film off and get digitals scanned in within 24 hours (at no extra charge). Fastest film development in DC!
I have never written a review before, but I had my first experience at this store today and it was FABULOUS so I had to show them off. Marvin was so helpful in providing parts to a camera that I needed (and knew nothing about) and also teaching me a crash course in film in all of 10 minutes. The staff is so kind and helpful and knowledgable. Im excited to continue receiving services from District Camera and Imaging and everyone else should do the same :)
It’s my first time trying film photography after I bought a film camera secondhand, and the staff were so knowledgeable and helpful in explaining all the settings and how to use the camera. I will definitely be returning for any camera/battery/film needs in the future. Parking was street parking but I found a spot right in front of the shop and I was helped as soon as I walked in. They really know their stuff and take the time to make sure you understand your equipment. Thanks for all the help!
Thank you for the great passport photos! The service was very good and prompt.I was treated very nicely and I appriciate this. I also found a bag I like, its for lenses but I may use it for devices and audio stuff. They have all kinds of cool carry bags for whatever and no doubt know all that there is to know about new and used photo equipment. Recommended.
If you need an AUSTRALIAN Passport photo get it done here.. The Oz embassy is extremely fussy so do yourself a favor and see these guys. Its a 10 minute walk from the embassy and less hassle as the embassy rejects 90% of photos taken elsewhere.
A tad pricey, but they really take care of the customers. They also develop film in store. so you can get your negatives back! They also sell high quality products, both new and used.
Reliable local camera shop. They price-matched the Nikon website for my new Z5 mirrorless camera and pointed me to another DC store where my desired lens was in stock. Shout out to Ivan for being patient and informative with this amateur photographer.
Really, great people. Updated me on my camera and gave a few suggestions for a better camera to buy.
Paul showed me exactly what a great shopping experience should be like! With a new baby on the way I needed to upgrade my DSLR. Paul spent over an hour helping me. Didnt just blindly listen to me, nor try to push me toward a specific product. Had a great conversation weighing pros and cons of many options he let me try in the store. Patient and seemed as passionate as me to pic the right setup. First 24hrs practicing average/low lighting pics with my active puppy and absolutely blown away. Paul set me up with a camera/lens setup that is even better suited than expected (weight, speed, quality)!!!!
I went in to buy a camera not knowing anything and left with an amass of useful knowledge and a wonderful camera. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They really know their stuff and you can tell they have a passion for their product. Thank you to Marvin and the 2 other kind gentlemen who helped me out!Its stores like this that really make me happy to shop local. They know their product, they are not pushy, and really helped me pick out what they thought would be best for me. Wonderful experience.
This is not the easiest location to get to, but District Camera service is top notch. I purchased a Godox flash from them through Newegg Marketplace, and a year later it stopped working. They charged me a reasonable fee to ship the flash off to Godox, and shipped the repaired flash back to me. Godox does not have great support in the US, but distributing through a retailer as on the ball as District Camera really raises their standing and prestige in the US among professional and amateur photographers alike. Thank you.
My experience at District Camera has always been above and beyond. Anytime I’m there for purchases and rentals they always treat me with great customer service. Big Thanks to Syed and Ivan
Well… it’s now been a month I’ve been waiting.Called to request help with my new camera, gimbal and video editing. Called, the guy wasn’t there. Called there were only 2 of 6 on staff and couldn’t help. Drove down there to try and make an appointment. There were several people working and no one looked up to say hello, what can I help you with, nothing. I stood there patiently for several minutes because they looked busy. A new guy walked in and interrupted a guy who I didn’t even know worked there to help him. He saw me standing there and said nothing and went back to his task. I called later and the guy took my number and said they’d call back. Never did.Clearly they’re doing something right but customer service isn’t one of them. I can’t believe their reviews are as good as they are because I not only have had a lot of my time wasted but was completely ignored. Terrible customer service. Terrible.
I go here to get my film developed and i couldn’t ask for anything more! the turnaround time is very quick & the employees are very kind. i highly suggest this establishment!
Marvin was amazing! So helpful
Knowledgeable and helpful staff, really went above and beyond at answering questions and tracking down inventory.
Friendly & knowledgeable staff. My go-to if I have a photography or equipment question.
This is a fantastic camera store, Ive been coming to this location for over 3 years and the sales team have been so helpful to me! I lost very important files and they helped me recover them. They are so knowledgeable and go above and beyond expectations to assist! I would recommend this store to anyone looking to get equipment or need assistance with anything related to Cameras or photography!
Super friendly people, passport pictures USA & Europe, walk-in, done in 20min.
This is where i go to do all of my developing and printing. The entire staff is knowledgable and specialized in a certain aspect of photography. If you want film talk to Marvin, if you want to know why your thrifted film camera wont work talk to Ahmed, if you want the best prints talk to Larry. As a professional photographer this is the only place i go.
Edit: Eldar, the owner, helped sort out the issue. Though I didnt have the best experience with this location, I will continue to support District Camera as they are one of the few local camera stores left in the area. I encourage everyone else to prioritize shopping local when it comes to photo/video products.----I normally use Dodge Chrome to develop my film but heard District Camera had faster processing times so I decided to give them a try. The prices were similar but my film came back a week and a half later because they ran out of C-41. I was incredibly disappointed to have my film come back with light leaks and chemical residue on it that Im positive came from processing as Ive been using this camera for a year and have never had light leak problems. Three of my most important images are unusable now because of this. Why even offer the service if youre going to disrespect your customers art like this?
Got photos for Dutch passport here. They opened on time. Staff is attentive, efficient, knowledgeable and with good sense of humor.
Went to District Camera last week to look at gear and check out the stock. They have everything I need to rent including massive soft boxes and seamless paper backdrops. They also have a nice selection of film cameras and are a great spot to pick up film instead of ordering online. They also have a huge selection of cool camera bags. The staff was very friendly and all were extremely knowledgeable about their gear and photography in general. Shout out to SYED for helping me out.
Such a great place! Everyone there is super friendly and helpful, and the film I got developed there turned out great!
Thank you District Camera and Larry and team for the consistently excellent service and teamwork.
We normally make small purchases in gear and accessories at this shop when in need, as it is a physical location. However, this visit was by far the worst customer service experience. While shopping, a guy that works there asks can I help you. Once answered that we are looking for a 50mm Canon Cap, we were then asked which one there are four. We were not aware of it being 4 Canon 50mm lenses nor the difference in the lens cap. Once explained that we were unaware, he aggressively says which one, We say not sure but do you have any in the store and maybe that will help us decide which one would be the best option. We say maybe this will help that it only cost $130 bucks, He then aggressively says well two of them are $130 dollars. Then we say again, we are not sure, do you have any we can look at?? Finally he answers the initial question.... No. Then we are like then what are you asking these questions if you dont have either one of the 4 options. Pure waste of time. Then he storms of when we said, well if you dont have it, we will have to find it somewhere else. He storms off without acknowledging if we needed anything else. Never dealt with this guy before, But NO WORRIES!!!! WONT HAVE TO EVER AGAIN. WE WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT District Camera and Imaging IN BUSINESS!!! Go Somewhere else where the staff understands what good customer service is and all customers are not CONSIDERED EQUAL in EXPERIENCE.
Always great to visit the good folks over at District Camera ! Been going to them for years. Always great and knowledgeable service!
Knowledgeable, fair and friendly. Saturday afternoon store was a bit crowded... But everyone wearing masks.
District Camera has great service and quick order turn around time. Everyone in there is very welcoming and helpful. Larry - the lab technician, re printed an order for me free of charge and took time out of his work day to explain to me the ideal resolutions for printing my images. Highly recommend to anyone looking to rent/buy camera gear or print their photos!
I purchased a used Nikon from DC&I. Syed was informative and tolerant of my torrent of “rookie” questions. He patiently explained the operation, care, and maintenance of my chosen Weapon...The store is well stocked, and based on my initial great purchase experience there, I will certainly recommend this location to my friends and relatives.
The only place i go to get my film developed. turn-around is always less than 24 hours!!! they come out super nice too. kind staff and fair prices.
It has been an outstanding experience upgrading my photography equipment at District Camera and Imaging. The quotes for my used Nikon equipment were fair and the trade-in process was easy. One can request a quote online prior to visiting the shop. I didnt feel the need to negotiate the trade-in price, as my expectations were met with the quote provided.Paul, the store manager is very knowledgeable about camera equipment and provides outstanding advice. It makes a big difference if you can ask as many questions as you may have to a real expert buying your first camera or when you upgrade (to a new system). Paul and his staff will give you sufficient time to explore options. Time your visit well, as it can be busy. There are few photo shops left in our area, if any, other than District Camera & Imaging.I happened to be the first customer buying the new Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera at the store. I feel confident after talking to Paul and Bob, who also works at the store, that I have made the right decision to buy new equipment at the right price. You will have a great time with staff as they know what they are doing and are customer oriented.
Cute store. Plenty of bags and filters
Great camera store and the staff is very helpful and friendly!
Been going here for awhile and I took my roll of film in to get developed. It took two weeks for them to develop the film, and when I called them to ask about it they said it actually takes one day to have film developed. Come to find out they lost my film and never contacted me to let me know. This place was an amazing place but now I do not TRUST and very UNPROFESSIONAL.
I went here to have three photos edited and enlarged. Larry at District Camera did a great job! Excellent service and reasonable prices.
I really like the Arlington location, but I had very uncomfortable experiences at the DC location. I felt weird the first time I went there and interacted with the three male sales associates there, but I wrote it off as just an off experience. However, the last time I went to the DC location - last week - was just so so so comically sexist, I had to really process how that experience is still happening in 2020.I rented a lens online from the DC location and went to retrieve it. When I walked in the male associate who was helping me told me that he had no record of me renting a lens there and said that I was confused and probably rented it from the Arlington location. So, he calls the Arlington location to tell them I am on my way to pick up the lens - again telling the associate on the phone that I am just confused. The Arlington location told him that they have no record of my reservation at their store and then they looked it up on their system. The reservation was indeed at the DC location - its just the DC associate could not find it. So, I was not confused; the error was on them. So then the DC sales associate starts working on my reservation. Throughout this process I am talking with him, and the other two male associates are in earshot, so they know that I am going to the beach for my anniversary and that is why I needed to rent the lens. At one point, one of the guys, who I have not really spoken directly to, leans over and leers at me - asking if he can come along to the beach. So gross. So since the reservation process is taking forever (and the guy who is helping me keeps on helping other male customers who come in) I start looking at camera bags they carry in the store. I have been in the market for a new one. The male associates were mostly helpful and I found one that I liked. Then one of them said we have it blue too. I said I would like it in blue and then he responded that it was unfortunate they didnt carry it in pink. LOL. Ok, dude. I mean, what? The sexism there was so overt it would be comical, except that being a female photographer I have dealt with just so much sexism from men in film, it really makes me angry. I read some of the reviews below - some of which echo my experience - and realize that there are probably tons of women and people of color who have experienced something similar and not said anything. I dont really think it is hard to treat people with respect, regardless of how they look or what their gender is, but maybe this store should revisit that concept.
Called in a pinch while working in DC looking for a battery. These guys went out of their way, even opening batteries to test them in my camera. They will have all of my business when Im in DC.
Recently bought a vintage Nikon film slr. DC has been the best place to buy all camera gear and film Im the DMV for decades!
For anyone debating why to go local vs buying online - District Camera and its staff show why personal customer service still matters.A few months ago, I discovered a camera I had purchased there had a chronic sound issue. Since my video work requires monitoring audio in real time, this was unacceptable. Though it was still under warranty, the manufacturer had discontinued the model. After three months and three failed attempts at getting the manufacturer to fix the issue, District Cameras manager, Eldar, personally stepped in. After many communications with myself, the manufacturers tech and sales reps, and others - he persuaded them to do right and provide a newer replacement model that didnt have the inherent sound issue. At each step, Paul and Saed of DCs staff were supportive and acknowledged why my very specific issue was important. They were also great listeners as I vented frustrations.Though I have only bought one DSLR from the store, Eldar and the DC staff made me feel that my needs were just as important as any six-figure corporate client. Throughout the process, they were considerate, professional, and reassured me that - one way or another - there would be a solution. Had it not been for them, I mightve given up and been very very sad. They truly care about their customers. It is comforting to know there are still local, family owned businesses that provide the kind of customer care and attention missing from online shopping or big box stores.Aside from this recent experience, every time I go their store, staff are always personally attentive and knowledgeable. Not only can they answer your questions, but they make a point to ASK questions to ensure you get what you need. They revel in sharing their knowledge, experience - as well as learning with you.For anyone seeking strong customer care and loyalty in the Washington, DC area, District Camera is the only choice.
Great Service! new to the camera buisness and was great help finding my way.
I love the DC location. SYED has helped me with equipment and technical questions. He’s always helpful and has great knowledge of ALL cameras and lighting. The employees greet you with a smile and are always helpful with purchasing new equipment, technical support or repairs. I recommend the DC location for all camera enthusiasts. Ask for SYED he’s the best!
Had a great experience purchasing a used Nikon camera body and trading in a lens that I no longer needed. Excellent customer service.
The staff was extremely helpful with answering all of my camera concerns. District camera also provides photography lessons which can be very useful. If you are looking into renting a camera or lens I would highly recommend you pay a visit to District camera as the prices are fairly reasonable.
Just had a very positive experience at this place. I came in to calibrate my lens and before I checked the camera in, they double checked to make sure I actually needed the service. My lens turned out to be fine and I avoided having to leave my camera there and pay for the service. I admire the transparency as it would have been easy to take my money and pretend that I needed the calibration done. Thank you District Camera!
My experiences with District Camera have been mixed, but have ultimately ended positively. You can tell there are some people who truly want to help you and truly care about your experience. Of course, there are some people who have some room for improvement in customer experience. Its definitely not fun being talked down to or being dismissed and thats certainly happened to me. Fortunately, the management team is working to make the better place through coaching. I have to give them applause for that because its not the easy route. At the end of the day, I hope to continue to support the local guys because thats important.
They have the best customer service and they have reasonable prices and you can fund any accessories and part you wan for your camera.
Very very helpful! they have an excellent selection of any type of equipnent you could possibly ever want or need for your camera. everything from old film bodies, to lenses, to bags, to film, they have it.also, a great turn around time for film development as well!would recommend for your camera needs in the DMV
I almost didn’t come in to this store because of some negative reviews, however, I’m very happy I did visit! I’m new to photography, and the staff were cheerful and exceptionally patient with all of my questions and extremely helpful. They didn’t pretend to know everything and feed me BS just to make a quick sale. The prices were fair (they are happy to match prices when possible). Overall, I would highly recommend this shop!
Everything is full MSRP.Selection is lacking. At least one rude staff member. Some regret spending money here.
Great Customer Service. Friendly/knowledgeable staff.
I had to do photos for a passport, with unconventional format. District Camera and Imagining was great! Just tell the country, theyll know the format. Price was the same than CVS for much higher quality. Plus, the staff was super nice. I highly recommend.
I came all the way from San Francisco for a trip. I noticed when I got here I had left my camera at my house. I searched up camera shops and district camera seemed like a great option. I went to get my camera and their customer service was awesome. They have excellent pricing that is not expensive and that’s affordable. Would recommend this camera shop to anybody that needs a camera.
Great service with lots of options! My tripod broke right before a work event in DC. Searching for someplace that is not a big box store - I found the wonderful District Camera and Imaging. Larry, Marvin, and bob all helped me pick out a tripod within my budget and asked lots of question to ensure I got the best one for what I needed it for. Additionally, they also helped me learn how to use the tripod and practice with my two cameras to make sure it works well. Luckily, I had all my camera gear with me which made it easier to figure out a good tripod. On top of all of that, they also shared some tips and tricks and helped fix my shotgun mic/camera set up which has been a bit wonky. The store had a lot of different options for tripod, cameras, camera accessories, bags, and anything you might be looking for - next time I need some gear I’ll be back here!
Very helpful, the guys know there stuff.Would have given it a 5, but their return policy was janky!I go by and purchase things I know I won’t have a desire to return.Example, bags, stands, I purchased a really expensive L lens once. The price was a little above average, but I prefer to buy local. (And it was probably cheeped than the lens plus tax and shipping from an online spot).
Customer service was sarcastic and they were very unhelpful.
Super knowledgeable staff.
I called ahead to plan on doing a trade, the main number posted on their website. I show up at the DC location later in the day and informed I cannot do a trade because the manager is not on duty. After protesting that I called ahead, eventually a helpful associate intervened and called the manager to make the deal and the only reason I say 2 stars over 1. Had I not needed the camera for a trip in a couple of days I would have been out of here so fast. It would be nice to be able to have a local shop but unfortunately this place isn’t it.
As soon as you walk in, you get a feeling of community. All the guys behind the counter and super friendly and love to chat, and the service is fantastic as a result! This is my favorite camera store to go to, especially because they have a large variety of some very cool vintage and new lenses and cameras!
Had a very odd experience in the DC location of this store. Right as I walked in I had an employee accuse me of being banned from the store... (I had never stepped foot in the store in my life.) I also asked about their film development and scans, and instead of a straightforward answer it felt like I was being questioned for even asking the question...The store seems like it’s well stocked and had affordable 35mm film, but the employee that helped me put me off of the DC location for sure. If you want a friendly experience I’d suggest somewhere else or an online retailer.
I did a lot of research on camera shops in the district and this is the best and most reliable I found for sure. The staff are really helpful and knowledgeable, which, when you’re buying a camera is really important because there’s obviously a lot of functions you may need or not need. The fact that they have multiple locations is really great and a full catalogue of their available products online with accurate pricing, descriptions, and conditions is a real plus.I think with respect to service, it’s just the nature of smaller, family owned places. This is not a Best Buy or Target where you walk in and play with any camera that you want and no one cares. I would recommend going in with a serious attitude towards research or purchasing and I am sure that they will be happy to help.
I went to District Camera and Imaging last Saturday to get a soft box for my photo shoot, which was the next day. This was my first time purchasing one so I didnt know much but then there was Marvin, a God send. He helped my pick out a soft box within my budget and he took his time with me (about 20 mins) showing me how to set it up with my external flash. He also gave me a tutorial on how to use the trigger for my flash! I highly recommend DC Camera and Imaging for their excellent customer service. I left the store excited and confident about my photo shoot!Another reason Marvin is amazing is I forgot one of the steps on how to set up the trigger once I got home and the store was closed so I reached out to him on Instagram. Marvin was quick to respond to me and walked me through all the steps again and i was able to set up my trigger successfully!!
Ive been coming here for a years and the service is always good. But today Bob went above and beyond what he needed to do to help me out with what I needed. I highly recommend coming here for your photo needs!
A touch expensive if you are comparing prices. Also when I rented online, when I went on store to pick up the equipment they did not have my reservation. I had to do the whole thing in store again. What’s the point of booking online, if it’s not going to hold/reserve the equipment. I even gave them a confirmation number and nothing. Thank God they still had the equipment available. This was for a wedding.Again really upset about this because I booked the equipment well in advance. Not sure if this location or store brand is reliable. I was all for local camera stores until this. One of the many reasons Amazons and online camera rentals are excelling
Larry (sales associate) and Paul (Manager and owner I believe) were very helpful. We had a misunderstanding with an item that I purchased and when I went back to exchange it I was able to speak with Paul to iron things out. It’s always great to know that businesses care about the customer and not just their bottom line. Returning today to pick up a camera bag, they have a wide selection.
Im an avid amateur whod lost the LoVE of dragging ten pounds of gear around to chase my kids and photo soccer games. Paul at District helped me choose a mirrorless camera that not only was a lot lighter and easier to carry but one with excellent controls and features to fit my wants and needs. With all of the local Penn Cameras closed, Paul and his team at District are the best photo resource Ive found in a decade. A+
Most of the time the lower reviews arent accurate, but sadly, they are true here. I was in and out quick for some film, and have encountered rude staff. He claimed that the 24 exp film(hp5) was 36, in a tone that almost felt like he was talking down to me when I pointed it out. Refused to take card without a chip(which is understandable), while telling me that i should go back to the bank and get a replace. Its totally cool, but then I think he felt challenged so he returned the card in a rude gesture. Also did not provide a receipt. Im from AZ, where most camera shop employees are nice to one another. It is pathetic that photographers in DC have to deal with this type of people. But hey, if you ever need film just order online where you can find better price and potentially free shipping.
Professional photo printing. Experts at restoration of old photos. Extremely knowledgeable about cameras and photography equipment. Friendly professional employees. Same owner as the old Embassy Camera store that used to be on Connecticut Ave in North Dupont Circle.
Really cool place with awesome cameras (both new and vintage) and accessories. I was looking for places to get film developed and this was my 4th location to try. The other places couldnt process my black and white film. Im glad they could!
Awesome service and knowledgeable staff! Love their selection of used camera gear.
Went there for an International passport photo which most places will not attempt. Service was quick, 20 minutes, and the photos were correct and accepted without any question. I didnt even need to show the specifications required for the photos. Great job.
To all photographers out there! I want to give a HUGE shout out to District Camera for the BEST customer service I have ever experienced. WOWOWOWOWOWOW! If you need anything photography related, go there. Amazing that this still exists.
One of the best camera shops I have been to. The staff is knowledgeable about the products they sell. Their job is not to sell you something but to find a solution. Not only were they helpful in finding me a new monopod but were knowledgeable of the rules and regulations related to photography in DC. They are a must stop location for any photographer amateur or professional visiting DC.
If I could give them no stars I would. I’m looking at all the good customer service reviews and I’m wondering why my experience was the complete opposite. I walked in to ask a question about fixing my camera. He wouldn’t even let me finish my sentence. I told him I had a Nikon and he immediately cut me off and was short with his response. They lost out on money because I was thinking about just buying a whole new camera but I refuse to give them any of my money after the way I was treated as soon as I walked through the door. I immediately felt unwelcome. Maybe my experience was different because I’m black. Either way I’ve been treated better by people I know are racist. SMH never again
Fast service and informative!
Very friendly and helpful... Oh, and they KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They took the time to answer my question, they even installed some accessories that I got from them.. I will definitely be back.
I needed Australian passport photos and went to CVS first (because Id didnt know better) and it turns out that CVS doesnt print high enough quality/resolution to meet Australian passport standards. The Australian embassy sent me to District Camera and they were wonderful. They know exactly what the requirements are and they even made me look good! Highly recommended.
Imagine a real pro photography store packed full of just about everything and staffed by SMEs who are super helpful. Prices are in line with online, which is rare.Places like this need people like us to keep them in business. Its a gem.
Have had two experiences here so far -- buying a microphone and getting 120mm film developed. Both experiences were overwhelmingly positive and priced fairly. The staff was knowledgeable and really devoted the time to make sure I was taken care of and was satisfied with my purchases.
Had an unpleasant experience with a staff member when I went there to get film developed. Im an amateur and didnt really know how to answer the questions being asked and be was not helpful and impatient. Trying to find another more amateur-friendly place to develop my film.
Great customer service and location. 35mm processing speed is 24 hours which is amazing. The quality is only so-so. Also kind of lame they charge 6$ for each roll to go on a cd, and they dont even put the scans in a high resolution. Id understand the 6$ cost per roll to cd if they were higher resolution and each on 1 CD, but no. You get 1 CD with a lot of low resolution digital scans. This is enough to make me want to go somewhere else where the default digital scan is higher resolution. Thanks.
Very helpful staff and some fascinating old equipment as well as a vast array of new cameras and equipment. Worth a visit and always good to support a bricks-and-mortar store so we dont lose them.
***Update***After posting my previous review the owner reached out to me to discuss my issues, which I genuinely appreciate. I just wish it didnt take a negative review before having these things explained/addressed. I did receive a partial refund for my lens rental. However, the rental lens I had used 3 times from them had severe ghosting/lens flare issues. Even when I reached out to let them know and showed examples they told me it was my settings, but under the exact same circumstances the new lens I bought (online) doesnt have the issue at all. The lens needs to be sent for service or replaced.I really try to support local businesses whenever possible as a local business myself, but I just cant recommend these guys anymore. Most of the staff is rude, with the exception of Syed. Theve sold me a new lens but then gave me the store sample without a box. Theyve tried to pay me $1000 for camera equipment I ended up being able to sell for $4000 within 24 hours to someone else. Still, I went ahead and bought 2 camera bodies and 3 lenses from them over the past couple years. Recently, Ive been renting from them, which has been fine because Id been working with Syed. But today I was able to return a lens a week early, and after telling me over the phone that I can get credit back for the difference, in person they told me no, Id have to pay the full $180 for a lens they can now rent out for another full week and make double the money. Definitely not a way to treat a repeat customer. I will be going elsewhere from now on.
The selection is large despite it being small in size. The staff is condescending and pushy. Their new gear isnt priced the fairest. The used gear you can find cheaper elsewhere. They buy gear but lowball you like crazy on the price and encourage you to spend the money on their store. Im unsure how a place like this stays in business with so many better options for purchasing cameras and getting them serviced.
They went above and beyond to help me out. Great prices, great store, great people! I cannot recommend this company enough
Great service for Passport photo!Came in with my wife, I said I needed photos for Canada Immigration and France Passport. He knew the proper dimensions (which are the correct ones), 20 min later, it was ready, stamp and dated.Perfect!
I love camera stores! This one was very friendly, helpful, well stocked. They had the item that I needed. Would go back.
They are good, just pricey!
Dishonest people. I bought a $200.00 monopod, when I returned the item the next day because of what I think a flawed design, I was told that monopods and tripods are not returnable. He even pointed out the notice inside the store, but the problem is the notice does not mention that. What the notice say is items can be return unused with original packaging within 15 days. The tripod was unused with the packages still new. After arguing with them that nowhere in the notice or in their website says that monopod and tripod are not returnable, I was allowed to return it with restocking fee. I paid $211.00 including tax, I was reimbursed $l80. They kept $30.00. Never again.
I have used Embassy Camera to process my medium format and 35mm film for a over a year now. I always receive good service, and the quality of development of my negatives is always excellent, and done in a timely manner.Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dependable lab in the DC area.
Cool little shop with an amazing selection of cameras, lenses, accessories... and film! Yes, film. I was in DC for a weekend trip and forgot my shoulder strap. Was able to walk from my hotel and pick one up, plus an extra SD card in no time. They saved the day!

Love this place. Very knowledgeable. Got my best passport picture in my life. Will recommend 💯
I was sent there when Australian Embassy rejected my passport photos for being non-compliant. They were then able to retake my Australian passport photos on the spot which have very stringent requirements.
