It is a special experience that I have not seen paralleled at any other store that Ive ever visited.I have never felt more comfortable parting with my money. These people make you feel like you are part of the family--it doesnt matter if you are a pro or an absolute beginner like me.
This is my go to camera store in DC. As a professional photographer, I always appreciate the hospitable customer service as well as the great selection of products that are competitively priced when compared to online retailers like Amazon or B&H. I would suggest supporting your local community and buying from ProPhoto!
Outstanding customer service and fast turnaround. Super knowledgeable on various camera brands from Sony to Canon & Nikon. They also carry my favorite Peak Design gear 💁🏻♂️🥸
Came for passport photos after disappointing results in other places, got good quality pictures in just a few minutes at a very reasonable price.
Great selection of cameras, lenses, tripods, lighting and even bags for storage of equipment. Knowledgeable staff. Friendly. I visited for a refresher course if you, just to familiarize myself with my canon DSLR and the younger gentleman answered all my questions!
Very helpful and were able to digitize my old photos even faster than promised. Great business!
This place is a gem. Its a family run establishment where the people are welcoming, engaging and knowledgeable. They make sure they address any questions or concerns, are reasonably priced and have a large variety of product. I definitely recommend this cozy place to all that has an interest in photography and or film.
Im so glad I found Pro Photo! They have been incredibly friendly and helpful and have quickly become my go-to shop for gear rental.
I brought my Sony A7S II to Pro Photo for repair where I was able to get my camera repaired quickly for a very reasonable price. In the meanwhile, I was able to I rent a camera body for shoots. I highly recommend Pro Photo to everyone that is seeking a knowledgable staff with outstanding customer service to satisfy all their photography/videography needs.
Great service and selection! these guys helped me in a pinch and I am veryyyy grateful. love the girl at counter :)
I needed to update my LinkedIn Photo and this place was much less expensive than similar places for social media photos. Everyone was friendly and they took their time to make sure my photos turned out well. They retouched them and sent me very nice photos to post. I highly recommend this business for all your photo and camera needs.
I went into the store today for whats probably been a dozen times now and had such a great experience. They didnt have what I was looking for, but the guy at the desk was very helpful and knowledgeable. He and I chatted for a while and really made the experience great. Highly recommend these folks.
I love this place so much. It literally has everything you need, from film cartilages to the best tripods. This place is literally the queen of photography in Washington D.C.
Very accommodating location. probably one of the only camera shops in the area to offer everything they come with. Very thankful for them
I had film developed here, I gave them my film on Tuesday and they said it would be ready in a week. I come back the following Tuesday and it wasnt ready, in the end I got my negatives and prints back on Thursday, which all in all was a bit of a wait. If you have film you want developed, go to District Camera on I Street, they will have it ready the next day for roughly the same price. People who run the store are nice, so thats some stars I guess.
It doesnt say in the description here but they do a great job with printing color photos. Charles is a great advisor and was very helpful in developing my raw images with his knowledge of photography. I do see the value in a brick and mortar shops where you can discuss about the service and product with someone
This is the best photo shop in Washington D.C. For more than three decades they have sold quality cameras and equipment. They have the best repair facility in the Mid-Atlantic. It is a family run business and it shows. Very friendly and will go out of their way to help you accomplish your goals. Also a wide selection of used equipment. Love this place. Ask for Owen.
Love this store
Sean was an amazing hep to us.We needed a couple of things for the camera which always happens on vacation it seems... they took care of our needs and then answered questions for Adam about his projects.I walked a mile past the other camera shop in the area and boy am I ever glad! Plus Major Garrett gets his phots developed here!
Note: No Olympus cameras here
Extremely helpful and understanding, Damaged the ring around my lens while on vacation. Which ment I couldnt take photos. Sally the young lady at the counter helped me out. They called me back with a quote, all things considered. So I had them go ahead and repair it. They had me on my way within 24 hours and at a great price. ..thank you Sally and Pro Photo. I highly recommend them..
Staff here are so personable. We had to make the 20 minute walk from the Australian Embassy to have new passport pictures taken, and they were very helpful and fast. Their camera had a template on it which made it pretty much fool proof for them to take the photo correctly (Australia is SUPER strict with sticking to the official guidelines when it comes to passport photos). They certainly saved our skin that day ;)
Ive had a few items in for repair over the years and have purchased used gear on a number of occasions and have always come away very satisfied. Great local shop with incredibly well informed folks behind the counter willing to help out.
They were extremely helpful but didn’t have what we needed, called around and found a store that did, District Camera and sent us over!
Nice local company. Good staff, decent selection. Prices arent that out of line from online retailers, and you get to benefit from their experience.
If you need something image related be a digital or traditional And I stress that traditional because they have it all, this is your One-Stop shop. But if you just need a USB adapter of some weird kind for your mat, this is the secret place for that.
If youre in the D.C. area, dont get your camera repaired anywhere else. Ive had them do three repairs on two cameras in the last four years, and I wouldnt go anywhere else. A colleague tipped me off to the fact that theyre just about the only place in the metro area that doesnt ship their repairs out of the shop for the work to be done. Ive had problems in the past with other shops that do that losing track of my equipment for weeks at a time, and being fairly unapologetic about it, so that alone convinced me to give Pro Photo a try. I wasnt disappointed. Their repairs are always done pretty quickly, and generally cost less than I anticipate (and sometimes are less than the initial quote, which is always nice). Theyve also got a great selection of new and used gear at totally reasonable prices.
The staff here were very helpful and even dug in the back for the product I was trying to find. Alas, they did not have the small Manfrotto tripod I was looking for, or a robust cell phone mount. If you are looking for a huge selection of camera gear, this is the place!
Had a wonderful experience at this shop a couple of weeks ago and have to share! I had taken my son (1 month old) to get a passport photo retaken at several locations around the passport agency with complete failure-went back three times to one photo location only for them to fail standards and the cvs nearby was unable to take baby photos. Went into this shop nearly defeated and was greeted with amazing customer service. They have the right equipment to photograph babies and my son was so content he opened his eyes (rare sight) for the photo! I had a nice chat with the staff and highly recommend working with them for their amazing professionalism, patience, and courteousy!
This shop is perfect for any pro photographer or serious amateur. They’re honest and dependable. I would recommend them to anyone needing supplies or repairs.
I would love to give a positive review for this photography store, but I was inhibited from going that evening. It was even more agonizing in the fact that the employee walked out and told me that the store was closed, 15 minutes before the closing time posted on the front door. I suggest the management to update the business time in order to avoid wasting the time of the customers, as I made a special trip to get there and it convenienced me greatly. Thank you and I hope my review is taken into consideration.
Very good store for beginners, bought my first telephoto lens. Great prices and good conversations!
They fixed my Canon Rebel 5 6 years ago and Ive just now realized Ive never thanked them. So, thanks.
It is just such a nice place where everything is handled properly. They also offered to clean the dust on my lens. The only thing is that it is a little bit hard to find, so use Google Map all the time.
Amazing consulting services - they help you understand what you need before you buy something. Good prices and they do used trade ins.
Every time I come in I leave more than satisfied and well informed about what I should get the next time I come in. My go to shop for photography equipment.
Very helpful. Very respectful and professional. Good pricing.
Very personable..good service. I wont mind visiting the store again...have lots of good bargain used gear to pickup.
The Family that runs this store is so friendly and its one of the few places that does in store repair of nikon cameras.
My embassy sent me here when I needed a 45mm x 35mm passport photo. They were extremely quick and the photo was perfect.
Pro photo is the ONLY professional photography store front here in the District of Columbia.
In town for vacation and needed to pick up a few items for the camera. Customer service was A+. Highly recommend!
Very nice and helpful staff. Theyll have what you need!
Small, family owned, camera store with great service and good selection on used gear.
Camera repair is pretty pricy so i didnt get my camera fixed but they didnt hassle me on picking it up which took quite awhile and didnt charge me so that was cool
Very bad customer service follow-up. I left my camera to get fixed and they were moving so they never had time to look at it. I had to call them constantly to ask. I called 1 month after I left it and they said they had recently left a message for me (not true) telling me they couldnt fix it. It is very unreasonable to make a customer wait 1 month for a reply.
I brougth in my Canon lens thinking there could be a problem. I called numerous times over a period of a couple months to Pro photo trying to find out if they had determined the problem. Eventually they told the lens was fine and that the problem could be with my camera. I brought my camera in and waited again for someone to call me with a report. After waiting a month with no contact, I called again and was told that the camera was indeed in need of repair. I asked how long it would take and was told less than two weeks. I told them to go ahead and do the repair because I needed the camera for an upcoming trip. It has now been three weeks and no one has contacted me again. When I called today, I learned they havent even started the repair and I am leaving tomorrow. I have never seen such poor customer service in any place I have dealt with. If they are overburdened with work then the appropriate thing to do would be to refer customers to other stores, not just hold on to equipment for almost 4 months!!! I would not encourange anyone to use Pro Photo even though they have a convenient location.
Got a chance to browse as my passport photos were being developed. Fast service and good quality merchandise but everything is relatively expensive.
If you need your camera fixed the right way, come to this place. If you need your camera fixed the right way and within a reasonable amount of time, then I recommend you look elsewhere. I dropped my camera off on the 17th of December to get the photo sensor cleaned and to get the focusing screen replaced. They said check back in 10 days. I called 10 days later and they said the part should be coming in sometime that day. When I called a few days later, they said that they didnt order the part until the 20th and it should be coming in sometime that day. What were they doing for those 3 days? They knew what was broken and what part needed to be replaced. Also, they should know when and what parts are arriving since we have the ability to track packages these days.Long story short, after calling back every few days for the next few weeks and getting the it should be coming in sometime that day speech every time and a we dont know why it didnt come in with the other parts, well have to call the factory to place the order again, I eventually picked up my camera a month later on the 17th of January.Go use these guys if you have time to kill. They do great work, but when it comes to ordering parts, they are really slow just like some of the reviewers have mentioned below.
I have known the store and its staff and owners a long time, have bought a few pretty high end cameras and lenses and came many times for advice, repairs, accessories, or just a chat. I love browsing their used merchandize, and their selection of the best quality items accross brands. I found real treasures sometimes, such as a used Nikon 400 mm tele, which has served me for years without fail now. What I really appreciate is the honest and clear professional advice you get. Recommendations that primarily come from the perspective of the seasoned technical expert, not the salesman. I will go back soon to buy the Nikon Df - and have a coffee and chat about all its specs and technical details :)
Probably the best photo store in DC. Professional, friendly and reasonable pricing.
I had some miscommunication at first but then it appeared that they have a good service. Btw the entrance is to the right of the shop!
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
Great customer service!👍🏾
After reading a bunch of reviews online, I decided to take my camera to this store because everyone had provided such positive feedback. I have no idea why. I dropped off my camera for them to give me a free estimate for repair. I dropped it off on a Sunday, and I was told they would call me with an estimate by the middle of the week. I didnt hear back from them for more than 2 weeks, and when I did, they said they were going to send my camera to the factory and I would need to wait 10 days for it to be back. I cant imagine why it took so long to figure this out. When I dropped my camera off, I told them which part needed repair (a mechanism inside the lens). I dont understand why it took them two weeks to figure out they couldnt repair it themselves. Two weeks later, I received another call saying the repair would be $135, and they would charge me $120 to clean it (that also seems unfair to me). I told them I wanted to pick up my camera and take it to a different store because I was not happy with the service I had received. He told me it would take 10 days for it to come in (what he had said to me two weeks prior). He also wanted me to pay shipping despite not asking my permission to send my camera to the factory. Its been more than a month, and I still cant go pick my camera up from the store (despite the fact that it was never even repaired). DO NOT GO HERE!
They know more about cameras, lenses, and accessories than anyone in DC. They cant be beat!
Such helpful staff!
