The building is beautiful and the staff is very attentive. On the first floor, you will find an Apple store, but on the second floor there are two main exhibits: The Big Picture, with great panorama pictures (before smartphones), and a room with a timeline on DC history. Totally recommend to go and, please, if you love it as I did, leave a voluntary donation.
Despite being an Apple store, I was really impressed by the interior of the building. It is very up to date. I like the many selections of Apple products it has.
Beautiful building! Sarah was easy to work with and took great care of my repair needs.Hopefully Ill have my MacBook back soon!
This has to be the nicest apple store I have ever walked into. The staff is helpful and friendly, and there’s lots of seating around the store while you wait.
Beautifully restored building. Supposedly the restoration won an award. I was there to visit the Apple store.
Gorgeous building! Nice how Apple has made good use of it
One of the nicest apple venues I have been too. The people are always nice and have plenty if patience. It’s not as compact as your average apple store. Very nice store!
Case of I said/You said. Dropped off computer for repair and check-in staff and genius people were beyond nice and knowledgable. Unfortunately, it was marked my power cable was not left behind (or they lost it?) and upon picking it up, noticed it was missing when I got home. The local phone # is impossible as it brings you to a universal apple line, so finally getting through, it was marked in the notes that it wasnt left behind... . Best case they could do was transfer me to a lost & found which rang and then disconnected. What ever happened to a) customer is right b) help the customer out in a situation? Its not like this is a mouse or keyboard or some thing that could be used as a scam, its a POWER CABLE Or, hey sorry for this, we have several sitting around, can we offer one to you?. Just, its not here and off I go on my own. So, here I am paying for some after-market knock off on Amazon. Imagine how much better customer service could be if they put the time and bandwidth into it as they did with multiple outside check-ins, temperature checks, guided marks on the floor, and greeters pointing to markings where to stand?
Its all about Apple in a beautiful historic building in the heart of DC. The lawns are prefect for a picnic lunch grabbing some sun or shade tree time. Occasionally you can catch a boot camp class in the mornings ( on the lawn )
Very helpful staff at the Apple Store
Great food with a variety of sides orders. Cater to party sized dishes. Reasonable prices.
Very organized and Professional !! I truly feel all of my questions were answered and I was pleased with all recommendations to provide a better experience with my products.
Beautiful wide space. More than enough room to social distance. Customer service is friendly. The disabled community is accepted. They have employees who know sign language.
This is definitively not a library anymore. Which is frankly, a shame.I would give the library 5 stars, but again its no longer a library.
Didnt know they had an Apple Store there. I would have loved to see inside. I had to wait for my order outside for pick-up.
Worst customer service I have ever received. Building is beautiful - just dont buy anything from this store. Store Manager Walter couldnt be any less customer friendly.
This is a beautiful location for an Apple store the major fail to the location is the Missing sign that says Apple store
The Apple store is gorgeous. Its a beautiful place if you want to sit on a park bench and catch some sunbeams.
As expected, great service from Apple.
Went to the Apple Store here, staff were friendly. Venue is huge and clean. Historical site.
Great experience today was there today. Andrea Vigil help me and my sister a lot. She is really great. Thank you Andrea.
I like what they have done with the place. Too bad its a private building now.
Actually i agreed to meet a friend there. It was a center for vaccination buy otherwise closed for the moment due to covirus. It served its perpose. A grassy area infront of the convention center. Pleasant environment with benches and peace in the city. You can meet eat a sandwich take a coffee and a rack to leve your bike. If you want a bite or coffee walk up 9th street towards N and there are a number of small places coming to life. Lunch menu etc. Try the Union Cafe its a small corner supermarket get a sandwich or a latte. Nice staff interesting selection of groceries. Likes dogs.
This historic library is now the home of an Apple store beautifully repurposed/refurbished and tastefully done to display the state of the art wares of the tech giant. Was there to repair a damaged iPhone screen. You have to make an appointment to be seen, no walk ins. They are screening customers for Covid and taking temperatures as well as orchestrating socially distancing seating and one to one services.
Its probably a good place to visit but not many are allowed to visit seems like because of the pandemic. The only time Ive been inside, there wasnt much to see since it was just opening. Theres likely plenty of more history about DC inside which l have probably missed out on, so far. The park outside of it is a good place to sit out and hang out, for a picnic or for small gatherings.
Not much to see here. Has the potential for exhibits, but most of the space is taken up by the Apple store.
Very pretty apple store
Well it’s been turned into an Apple store with extreme Covid requirements upon entrance. And guards everywhere not allowing you to actually enjoy the beauty of the building but rather get your product and get out. I’m not sure what I think of a historical building being turned into a marketplace.
Very disorganized and terrible customer service. I had an genius appointment at 11:10am, and I got there 10 minutes before my appointment time. They made me wait for over 30 minutes past my appointment time outside in the cold. After all the wait, one of the guys working asked me to go in, but when I got inside they said that no one was not ready to help me, so again I was asked to go outside and wait for another 20min.I ended up just leaving as I was already frustrated at that point.
This landmark is now the Apple Store. Beautiful building...but we got turned away because we didnt have an appointment. Also, the appointments fill up quick so PLAN ur visit.
Now in Apple store with the historical society in the basement
What a great place for an Apple Store, clean and plenty of space - the largest location I’ve been to. Unfortunately, they did a poor job of working the scheduling logistics - many of us stood in line for an hour after our scheduled appointment, part of it in the cold.
Beautiful building, and the Apple Store inside is taking strict COVID-19 precautions. Upon entering, each visitor’s temperature is taken. Hand sanitizer is available everywhere inside, and there are clear markings with plenty of socially distant spacing.Try to check out the museum upstairs if you get a chance!
Visited the Apple store, nice ambience.
Very nice building
In store shopping and pickup available with an appointment. Staff is friendly and courteous.
Beautiful architecture upstairs
I had an appointment at 5pm they didn’t see me until 5:45 then said I had to leave my phone overnight to get my screen fixed. I had a flight early the next morning. They said there were apple stores in the Dominican Republic where I can use my apple care! That’s a damn lie! Miguel or whatever the hell your name is COUNT YOUR DAYS I SWEAR!!!!!
This place is really nice I when to the apple store and very clean they give you good service and safe environment
Ive been around a long time and have seen the Carnegie library transform into the Apple store. At first I was hesitant to see the site turn into a computer store, but after going in I was impressed with what Apple had done. They integrated the history with the store and it was a beautiful renovation. Its worth a visit just to see the grand space.
Very cool. The entire tired floor is the biggest Apple store Ive seen in DC, the basement holds a history tribute to the building, and the top floor is a small DC history museum I believe. The building is just stunning. The Apple aesthetic fits pretty well with the mass of stark white stone everywhere. Though it feels a little like a church to Apple consumerism.
It feels so premium!
Customer service customer care to the T. Organized clean and they over communicate everything. 5 stars
Carnegie Library is an interesting model. Its a historic library opened by the Carnegie family in 1902 (it was dedicated in 1903). During a time when most places in D.C. were segregated, this public library was for everyone. The architecture is gorgeous and theres plenty of space to read and relax. However, it closed in the 1970s.After a few decades closed, it reopened with the DC Historical Society inside. It housed the Society and was used for events for awhile. However, the upkeep was too much.In May 2019, the library reopened with the help of Apple. Spending an alleged $33M, Apple restored it using its original floor design. They have, of course, retail inside, but the majority of the space is used for the community. Apple has daily free classes on design, coding, and photography. They have a program to teach kids to code through dancing robots and teachers how to use tech in the classroom. Theres a space for entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses. The basement has an exhibit that tells the story of the actual building. Upstairs is where the DC Historical Society still is and Apple helped them build a research library with 100,000+ cataloged photographs, thousands of books and maps as well. They have two galleries telling the history of DC. Theres also a Shop Made In DC selling local items from cards to coasters to snacks.Regardless of your stance on big business, its worth visiting to see a beautiful, historic building and a new model of preserving spaces.
Best apple store around
Unfortunately, You need to have an appointment to be in.
The Apple Store inside is great.
Im not even an Apple person but Ive had such great experiences at Apple Carnegie!I have been to fun events like the grand opening, photo tutorials, Art All Night, and Ive seen speakers like Rep. John Lewis. Most recently I took my cousin who was visiting from out of town and managed to freeze her iPhone while trying to do an update. They checked to see when her phone was last backed up, attempted to reboot it without doing a factory reset, and when that failed they did the reset and fixed her phone. All for free! While she was being helped, my Mom was able to ask another representative about doing custom back ups and was very pleased.
Cool setting but staff not knowledgeable on fixing issues. They kept saying it was a carrier issue when in fact it was an Apple issue. Spent two trips and hours there. They need more training on understanding phones with double SIM cards.
Apple Carnegie Library to be exact. Apple had taken over the Carnegie Library and runs the store on its main level. The library itself has moved to the Martin Luther King Library.
Very elegant place. Part library, part museum of DC history, mostly an Apple store. I love the quaint shop on the upper floor that has nice DC souvenir items. It has Muzen audio speakers with FM radio in charming retro designs ( choice of metal or wood). The library though is by appointment only.
I fell in love with this place and all the work are nice and walking around smiling like something is always funny! I havent seen no one working here looking stressed out. Im thinking about applying.
Coolest apple store Ive seen by far. Situated in. The classic Carnegie library. Architecturally stunning building. No problem getting service as there is a 1 to 1 ratio of staff to customers. You have to check this place out.
This is now an Apple Store. The incredible building has not been altered and truthfully is a beautiful store. Historical photos on the bottom level. Its a class act that Apple wasnt rude to this marvelous building.
Historicale place, restored to beauty and givien new life!
Amazing historical content! Mr. Schultz photography is stunning. I enjoyed the class pics and the different parts of the city coming about.
Apple employees are great. I like their inclusion of all people in their work environment.
Very cool and historic site. Go downstairs in the Apple store to see some interesting pictures.
Went to get battery replaced at the apple store. Covid-19 precautions are well placed and they do a good job in getting you in and out as wick as possible.
5 stars for the historical museums (who knew DC had man-made canals all through the Smithsonian Mall area during early construction years?!) and how Apple tastefully and artfully blended its retail ops into the historical building! (No stars for Cr-Apple company though). Also, *love* how Apple has employed all differently abled persons as tour guides, advisors etc.
Love this visit
This historical building is finally reopened after years of renovation and is, as of writing this post is, home to the DC History Center and the Apple Store. The interior space is absolutely beautiful, complete with marble floors and modern leather furnitures. Its a very cool place (in multiple ways) to spend a hot afternoon in DC and brush up on our local history.
EXCEPTIONAL Customer service and cleanliness of inside and outdoor facilities. THANKS!
Very nice place
If youre an Apple person, this store is one of the more grand showrooms around. The historical building has high ceilings and flare. They did a wonderful job of utilizing the space.
Giving 5 stars because this is one of the few if not only apple stores I’ve been to where I didn’t have to wait forever for help and got all the help I needed. Super speedy with my repair as well, I dropped off a laptop with a broken display on a Saturday and got it that Tuesday! Needless to say I will definitely be coming here whenever I need repairs or new devices!
This place is awesome! Crisp bright and eager associates. Visit just to say you did!
♥️
Cool set up. Unexpected design. Sad to see the old building go, but at least they made good use of it.
First class renovation of this 1899 gem. It was Carnegies gift the Washington DC. The first integrated library and open to all.
Wish we could go inside!
Diagnosed laptop with the butterfly keyboard failure. Had to wait three days for part to arrive. Then the store sat on the repair for five days, only to break the Touch ID sensor. Now they have to wait for another part to fix their error. By the time this is done, I will have been without a functioning laptop for over two weeks. The store is beautiful but not at all up to Apple’s expected service standards.
Excellent service by very knowledgeable technical agents. Far more superior agents compared to other Apple Stores I have been in VA. Thank you for your assistance on my behalf.
This place was a surprise a apple store great Idea. But I was expecting the black museum.
It was fantastic place. Super Apple products and excellent staff.
It is actually Apple tech outlet with the fine standards they have, nice central.
We came here to visit the DC History Center and were surprised to see the Apple logo at the entrance. I thought this was all corporate PR but lo and behold, a full Apple store greets you once youre inside!Im glad they helped restore this place (thanks to all the reviewers who took the time to tell the buildings story), but I just wish theres more library than commercial space, in keeping with the original purpose of the building. Im sure Mr. Carnegie or his estate would have wanted the same.
Such a great experiencing all these wonderful Apple products all in one place along with the heritage of the library being preserved
Nice
Big place new Apple Store is cool and the different floors with the exhibits gives a excellent atmosphere
Apple store is always nice, and the basement and upper floor level has some cool exhibits as well.
Great. The kids enjoyed learning how take and edit photos on the Apple tablets and are practicing those skills at home.
Gorgeous building. Thank you Apple for helping to save and restore this DC landmark. Be sure to check out the exhibits upstairs.
It was a nice place to shop as well to look around at the history.
