Mango ice cream was incredibly good. Lemonade drink to die for. Proud to say it’s black business owned. Great for your sweet tooth needs. Will be going back again.

First time I came here to try a soft serve I was excited they had to vegan flavor I got to the cashier and the price was more because you’re telling me there’s an extra charge for vegan items ….nowhere on the menu is mention that there’s a A extra charge for vegan items. I started laughing as I walked away I have had vegan ice cream options and prices and there’s never been a charge so I’m not coming back to this place they are better ice cream choices around the in DC area.Also the customer service here is horrible the line is always long when you go up to them they also take a long time to talk to you and take your order and they’re not friendly at all those two girls who body language and attitude sounds like they don’t wanna work thereWeds afternoon 8/4/21

Heard some great reviews and always ready to support a B.O.B., I decided to try it out for myself a few weeks ago. My friend got a chipwich and really enjoyed it. I ordered the cake explosion and immediately saw a hair baked into the brownie sitting right on top. The line to address this was over 30 min wait so I threw it out and took a loss. Customer service could be better and possibly more seating to accommodate all the customers in their long line.

Friendly service. Ordered the plain lemonade. It wasnt bad but to take it to the next level have it fresh squeezed. Everyone seemed to enjoy the ice cream.

It is amazing 10/10 recommend and they have vary good shakes and ice cream

Southwest Soda Pop Shop is a cute outdoor ice cream and soda stand. Serving soft serve and scoop ice creams, floats, and sodas. A wonderful stop on the north end of the newly opened DC Wharf. Look closely for the shop since there is still a lot of construction. It is located on Maine Ave directly in front of the Seafood Market. There is ample bench seating under a shaded awning. It will be even nicer to visit once the construction is completed.

Best soft serve ice cream ever! It is so smooth and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness and vanilla! I had vanilla in a medium cup (but wish I gotten the large). There’s always tomorrow!Sorry about the photo, it was basically gone by the time I thought to take a picture.

Super pleased with my experience! I asked for sprinkles in the cup as well as on top as I am a sprinkles lover, and they even gave me an extra cup of sprinkles!! They were really nice 😊

Their food/desserts were sooo good! The line gets long, but it’s most definitely worth the wait.

So disappointed, we came last week to find them closed without notice. Then came back mind you we are 1st timers, I got the cake sundae and my cake was hard as a rock and the strawberry ice cream quality was like eating fruity pebbles. We also had the funnel cake fries which were like sugar sticks, too sweet. Wont be returning! You stand in line for 30 minutes for poor quality food.

2nd time coming here and each time I have been unable to enjoy my order because it doesnt come out at the same time. Today I got my chipwhich before the rest of my order. By the time I was able to eat the chipwhich (after waiting for the rest of my order) it was completely melted!! $5 wasted. I wish this business much success but I will not be visiting again.

This is a great outdoor quick ice cream shop. The staff is cool and the smoothie I ordered was good. They offer all kinds of ice cream, banana splits, milk shakes, smoothies and more. They have ice cream sandwhiches made of real cookies and your choice of ice-cream flavor.

Fantastic chipwich. I got birthday cake ice cream with chocolate chip cookies. The staff is so sweet and they should be proud of their shop!

Service is great food is great but.... their black own so their never on time opening an sometimes close early & I don’t like that for them 🥴

Arrived at 6 and even though hours say they close at 7, the windows are down but still lit up. A woman was inside is cleaning and doing everything she can to avoid eye contact. At one point standing directly in front of us but refused to lift her head up. I have no issue if you decide to close early but put a sign up or at least acknowledge your customers and let them know you closed early. First time attempting to visit but will definitely be our last if this is indicative of customer service and staff quality.

So good! A must stop ice cream shop at the wharf on the fresh seafood side. Pictured is the cherry blossom ice cream sandwich on sugar cookies. Ask about their secret menu. This is a walk up shop with no indoor seating. There are some pub tables outside. On my last visit they were selling hotdogs and half smokes as well as ice cream.

Have to support black businesses!! I would say the customer crevice couldve been a little better and I did not like waiting for an hour in the heat, but when I got to the front and recieved my ice cream, I was a happy camper. Ill just come back in the fall/winter when they ones are a little shorter lol

I’ve lived in Italy, tasted some of the best gelato in the world and this ice cream is amazing!! Even better because it’s a black owned shop. Customer service is a 10!! A must try in the warf on a hot summer’s day!

Worse place ever. I came with my 3 year old son for people to be smoking marijuana while in line for 45 mins. My strawberry lemonade was watery. Worse customer service and over priced. I will never go here again

I wanted a single scoop of cookies n cream ice cream. It was 4.67. I paid with 5 dollars. They said they didn’t have any change. I said it’s fine. After waiting 14 minutes I went up to the counter and asked where my single scoop of ice cream was. The girl at the counter said “oh we don’t even have that order up here. One sec” terrible customer service experience all around. The ice cream was ok at best.

Southwest Soda Pop Shop is a locally owned food stand in the District Wharf near the historic fish market. There is no inside seating, but there are places to stand and eat nearby. Theres also a little seating area around the corner with seating on steps. In terms of food, they offer the basics like hot dogs and lemonade. They also have ice cream thats popular!

Cute little ice cream and milkshake booth. They also serve hot dogs and funnel cake fries. Perfect place if you need something sweet. Prices weren’t bad. They had a few combo deals as well. I had the soft serve ice cream and my friend had a milkshake and they were okay.

Service is a bit slow. Soft serve ice cream- not a whole lot of options, there. Pricy, but I suppose that’s due to the location. The staff was friendly and the root beer float wasn’t bad at all. It wasn’t possible to walk towards the water within the enclosure, without going to a totally different part of the wharf. There were fences preventing you from even going to the seafood area. Not sure if this is Covid-restriction related or if that’s just how it was before.

I like the all vegan ice cream, staff very pleasant and courteous. Could please add two more cash registrrs to the current ones so the queue can move faster? It takes too long to get to what you want due to the fact that you only have to order windows.

I was originally introduced to SW Soda Pop Shop via Facebook and decided to visit after a friend recommended it. I ordered the Cake Explosion and a Vanilla Shake. Both were fantastic! I enjoyed the real ingredients in their menu items. The staff was very kind! I will certainly be back!

Don’t go here it’s a black owned business that has bad customers service I brought 3 items the person that gave it to me gave it to me all together I dropped one and couldn’t get a replacement less than 2 hours ago today they didn’t even give a refund I asked the manger your suppose give me a cup holder they told me they ran out so it wasn’t my fault it dropped but I couldn’t get a replacement

I had the cake explosion and it was so good! They even had a cookie on the bottom 😌😌 superfilling. So if youre looking for a light dessert, I would stick to their regular ice cream scoops

I ordered the cake explosion And it was good, but they forget ALL my toppings. By the time I went back they were closed. So disappointing!!

The ice cream is awesome but the service is terrible. They act like their father is making them work at the shop. I definitely cant tell its their shop based on their attitudes. I dont mind supporting a black business but do I have to be mistreated.

I went because saw their segment on CNN. I went today and drove from College Park. I got to the area around noon to coincide with their opening for the day and beat the crowds; well no such luck, but line wasnt that bad. It is a hot day 80°+ and parking was tough to find which seema to be typical to the area. What disappointed me is there is no online menu that I could coordinate with my sheltered family at home and my inability to capture good picture to due to the glare from my phone nor the glare on glare from the PPE barrier with the cashier. Nevertheless the milkshake and cup/cones ice cream I drove 14miles to get was delicious. While I had to wait a minute for the order fulfillment one of the sister/owners waited on me who was gracious and attentive to my concerns about transporting this precious cargo. The order was received home to rave reviews and a.promise to return...soon. Thanks you!

They stole money from me. I was going to buy ice cream from here they didn’t have the kind I wanted so I canceled it. They still charged my card for it and when I talked to them about the problem, the lady told me I was crying over 5dollars...Not professional at all very ghetto if you ask me. I support black own businesses but not this one.

The customer service was terrible and my strawberry ice cream tasted like vanilla. So I live in California and I wanted to support this black owned business when I came to DC. I placed two orders. One order came out first. I waited about 10 minutes before I asked them about my second order meanwhile my first order had already melted. The owner told me that I was miss informed about the mango ice cream. It was mango shaved ice . So I asked the owner if she could remake my first order and she said no bcus it was already out of the window. She said no. Nevertheless, the customer service was terrible, they were all over the place with orders. Instead of folks getting both of their orders simultaneously, o e order was given and then someone elses order was given and then back to your order. I was better off going to Dairy Queen

When we passed thru DC earlier this year, we were directed to try their tasty treats and I am so thankful for the recommendation. Hopefully thru covid, they continue to be successful! If youre in the area, definitely give them a try, you wont be disappointed.

Great ice cream, both soft serve and scooped. The line can be long but moves pretty quickly unless someone orders things that take a lot of prep like shakes. The family that owns it is super nice!

Instagram sent me here........Im giving the business 3 stars seeing that I ordered the cheesy crab melt and mistakenly requested cheesy crab melt fries. I was immediately corrected by the cashier in which she stated in a condescending tone of voice we dont have cheesy crab melt fries in the same same breath she should have utilized that time to express what the crab melt consisted of. I decided to order anyways without further question seeing that instagram promoted the item well. Turns out, I received what seemed to be a texas toast melt with mostly bread and little crab meat. It was overpriced for what I recieved. Tasty though which is why I am giving it 3 stars.Needless to say the funnel cake fries were a hit and the strawberry shortcake bites were tasty as well.

I walked over to support this business while at work and was greeted by a “BRB” sign stating that they went to the bathroom.I waited 15 minutes and the young lady walked by us not saying a word and proceeded the opposite direction from the store. I asked her were they going to open up and she stated, “I am going to the bathroom”. Excuse me, do you not see customers here waiting? We stood outside this establishment for 15 minutes thinking you had already gone to the bathroom.My son has visited this place a few times and love the ice cream but said this young lady ALWAYS have a nasty attitude. Unbelievable!
